Sarah could feel her eyes slowly opening and starting to blink, but everything was black. She could feel a black bag over her head, and she remembered what had happened. Bret was in the woods, and he had drugged her, but why? Bret had always been the quiet type. He was always reading in the library and being nice to everyone. Why was he the murderer? She didn't understand at all. She started to move her arms, but they were tied behind her back. How long had she been out? She wasn't sure, but she knew that Adam would be looking for her if he didn't find her at home. Maybe he would go to her father.
She could hear footsteps approaching where she was, and the bag was ripped off her head. Bret stood over her and smiled down to her as if he was happy to see her there. He was holding a knife, and her heart started to race.
"Don't worry. I won't hurt you--yet."
He leaned down and nuzzled into her neck to take in her heated scent. A soft moan left his lips as he pulled her to his chest. It was obvious that he was enjoying the scent of her heat, but his enjoyment was interrupted by muffled cries in the other room. Bret jerked his head to the side and growled. He got off of her quickly and stomped into the other room. Sarah began to struggle. She thought that she could find a way out if she just tried hard enough. The room was dark, and there were no windows. She thought she could be underground or something. The ties were not loosening around her hands, and she jumped when she heard a loud bang.
"I told you to keep your mouth shut!" Bret yelled.
Sarah could hear another girl crying, and she knew who it was. It was Piper! Piper was still alive, and Sarah was determined to get them both to safety. Bret's footsteps echoed through the space again, but he was leaving. Was his phone vibrating?
Sarah growled in frustration at the ties. She knew it was going to hurt, but she had to get out. She used one of her hands to grip the ties to see what material it was made of. It was just rope. Looking around the room, she saw a door stop that looked a bit sharp on the edges. It was her only chance! She managed to get her legs under her, and she stood up. She hurried over to the stop and leaned back down. Her ties were tight, but she rubbed the rope back and forth against the door stop. The rope snapped, and she rubbed her wrists to make sure they were ok.
Bret was still out of the room. Maybe he went outside? Moving over the wooden boards as quietly as she could, she hurried into the next room. All of the rooms were small with wooden floors, but the walls were made out of cement. She could see Piper laying on a metal slab. It was one that a dead body in a morgue might be lying on, and she was whimpering softly. Sarah moved closer and whispered.
"Piper! I'm here to help you. We'll get out of here I promise."
Piper didn't say anything to her, but as Sarah looked closer, she cringed in horror. Piper's tongue had been cut out to make sure she couldn't scream. Piper's arm was broken with the bone sticking out just above the elbow and large pieces of her fur had been cut off for mutilation. Bending over, Sarah thought she was going to throw up all over the floor. Piper was in bad shape, and Sarah knew she would die soon if she didn't get help.
"I'm so sorry Piper."
Tears were rolling down Sarah's eyes now as she began to untie the ropes around the other mare. Piper's legs were ok except for a few open wounds. She would still be able to walk, and they could escape together.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
Sarah snapped her head around to see Alec standing in the doorway.
"Alec?" Sarah whispered in horror. "You're in on this too? This is awful! You're a sick bastard!"
Alec charged Sarah, and she managed to punch him in the face before he grabbed her hair and tripped her. He started pulling her across the floor by her hair. When he got to the main room, he pulled her up and placed one of her paws on the large wooden beam. The sound of something firing filled her ears, and she screamed in pain. Bret was standing in the doorway with a nail gun. Looking up at her paw, Sarah could see blood start to pour down her hand. There was a nail poking out of the center, and she began to feel nauseous.
"I believe that will keep her there for a while." Bret said with a dark smile.
Alec lifted her chin and smirked at her.
"So Beautiful. I think I'll leave your face alone." Alec said happily. "you're wondering why we're doing this? You asked me that question. Since you'll be here for a long time, I guess I could tell you, but I really don't know myself. All I can say is that we get excited hearing you all scream, and Sarah you are our prize. Bret here has liked you since grade school, and I've wanted you ever since those hips came into place. You're going to be a good girl, and we're going to let you live. You got that?"
Sarah growled. "I'd rather die."
Alec's paw came up and smacked her across the cheek, leaving a large, red handprint. "That can be arranged darling."
Bret and Alec laughed together, but they heard footsteps upstairs. The boys didn't look worried, and Sarah shivered. How many people were in on this? The footsteps got closer, and as she stared at the doorway, she saw a large stallion walk in.
"Oh God..." Sarah said in disbelief.
Her father smiled at her from the doorway. He wasn't carrying a gun, and he didn't have any backup.
"You're their leader aren't you, you sick bastard!" She scream in anger. Tears started swelling up in her eyes, and her father looked at Alec.
"That Dober came to my office and informed me that my daughter was missing. You boys have put me in quite a position, but I guess this could work for me."
Her father walked over to her and rubbed his paw over her cheek. "You smell just like your mother in heat. It's wonderful. Alec! You can have her first, but her mouth is mine. Don't screw it up."
Sarah was wide eyed in disbelief. Her own father was going to kill her? Alec walked over with a hammer, and he pried the nail out of her paw. She screamed in pain, and Alec gripped her throat to make her be quiet. He threw her in the other room, and slammed the door behind him. As Alec approached her, she kicked him in the stomach as hard as she could, and he growled in pain.
"I'm not going out without a fight." She said angrily.
Alec charged her, but she moved to her left and caused him to hit the wall hard like a raging bull. He was getting angry, and when he came at her again, she kicked him in between his legs with all the strength she could muster. He let out a howl of pain and fell to the floor. This was her chance. She rushed over to him to get the hammer from him, but she felt him move, and a sharp pain ripped up through her side. Looking down, she saw the blade of a knife stuck into her side. It hurt a lot, but she tried to stay focused. That was when he stabbed her a second time. Was there also a third? She was so disoriented from shock that she couldn't tell. Alec sat in the corner and started to recover from getting kicked in the groin.
Since Sarah was by the door, she could see out of one of the cracks. She saw Bret and her father standing by the door she was behind, but someone was standing in the main entrance. Was he holding a gun? Yes!
"Where is she? I've called the police and I will shoot you if I have to. I followed your sorry ass Thomas. You're a terrible father. How could you let them do this to her?"
"Adam?" She whispered. She was starting to feel weak, but she sat up and crawled over to the door to peek out. She didn't have much energy for anything else. She tried to call his name, but her lungs wouldn't let her.
"She's here, but you won't be for much longer." Thomas said evilly
Her father was holding a gun as well, but instead of aiming it at Adam, he shot Bret right between his eyes. Adam jumped, and Alec's ears raised.
"What the hell was that?" Alec said. He slowly got up and walked to the door. He kicked Sarah in the stomach to move her, and he opened the door. As soon as he opened the door, Thomas shot him in the head. Sarah couldn't see anymore, but she could hear. The sound of metal dropping to the ground echoed through the room, and she knew Adam had dropped his gun.
"That's a very wise choice boy. You see I'm going to kill everyone." He said in a low tone, and another shot was fire. She thought Adam had been shot, but Thomas had actually killed Piper.
"I'm going to kill Sarah last, and I can say that I tried to stop them. I tried to stop the boys from killing my daughter, but I was too late, and so were you. Goodbye."
Sarah whimpered, but the sound of sirens filled the cabin where they were.
"Sorry Thomas, but I forgot to hang up my phone. I called the police, and they heard everything."
The sound of several men shuffling filled the room, and there was a lot of yelling, but Sarah couldn't figure out what they were saying. The door opened to her room, and Adam rushed in. When he saw her, he kissed her deeply and lovingly, but his nostrils flared when the scent of blood filled them.
"Sarah..."
He could see the stab wounds. There were at least three of them. Slowly, he picked her up and began to carry her out of the building. Sarah was losing consciousness, but she could see the trees when she was carried outside. Were they in the middle of the woods? It smelt and felt like it.
"You're going to be ok Sarah I promise!"
Was that Adam? It might have been.
Everything was a blur after that. She would open her eyes a few times to see Adam's worried face, and a woman working on her in the ambulance. She could feel her body moving from side to side as the car took curves a little fast, but she couldn't speak. She couldn't tell Adam that she was ok.
They took her to the hospital, but she couldn't open her eyes enough to see what was going on. Had they taken her bloody clothes off to operate? She felt cold. Was that her mother sobbing? It could have been. All she could see was darkness. It was like she was swimming in a pool of black mist, and she couldn't find her way out. What is that beeping noise? Hadn't she asked herself the same question when she first heard the moving truck carrying Adam's things? She had, but that wasn't important now. The beeping sound wasn't there anymore. It was replaced with a loud noise that wouldn't stop. It was one tone, and it was hurting her ears. Maybe she was dead now, but where was the light she was supposed to see?
Her heart had stopped beating, and the doctors tried to revive her, but the flat-line noise kept ringing. Her mother started sobbing louder, and she held Adam tightly in her arms.
"Call it." Said the doctor.
"Time of death is seven O' five P.M."
"Wait, I can't be dead. Mom, I hear you! Adam I'm here!" Sarah was screaming into the darkness, but no one could hear her. The light she had been looking for was in front of her now, and she began to step towards it. It looked so beautiful, and she reached her hand out to touch the light.
"Sarah..."
She pulled her hand back and turned around to look into the darkness. That had been Adam's voice. Was he there?
"Sarah you said that you would always be here with me. Please don't leave. I don't think I could live without you. You saved my life and I want to give it to you. I wanted to marry you. I wanted to have pups with you. Please come back to me. I love you."
Were those tears hitting her cheeks? She looked back at the light, and shook her head. She had to go back. She began running through the darkness, trying to find Adam and screaming his name. The black mist began to wrap around her arms and engulf her, but she didn't fight it. This was her way home. Before the darkness engulfed her completely, she heard a loud beeping noise. It was slow, but it was loud. What is that beeping noise?
~~
Sarah slowly opened her eyes, and the bright hospital lights made her pupils dilate. There was a heavy weight on her chest, and it took her a second to realize that it was Adam hugging to her. He was crying, and she slowly leaned up to whisper into his ear.
"You didn't think I was going to go that easy did you?"
Adam jerked his head up and smiled happily at Sarah. He kissed her deeply, and slowly pulled back to look at her eyes again.
"I heard you calling me. I came back to you. Are we even now?"
Sarah smiled. She was referring to how she had saved his life, and he had saved hers. Adam simply nodded and held her in his arms. Her mother rushed back into the room and held her on the other side, but on the other side of the room, the doctors were whispering to each other. She had been dead, and it was a miracle that she had come back at all.
~~
"Congratulations!" Sarah's mother screamed.
Sarah smiled at her mother. She was wearing her navy blue graduation gown, and Adam stood beside her while holding her paw. It had been nine months since Sarah had been kidnapped, and she had healed quickly. It almost seemed like a dream now. Her father had been send to federal prison. He never wrote to her, but after the other inmates heard that he kidnapped and planned to rape his own daughter, his stay was not a pleasant one. She heard he was put in the hospital for a torn ass. In other words, he was raped pretty brutally.
Adam held her paw tighter, and Sarah pulled a card out of her purse. She handed it to him, and he sighed.
"I told you not to get me anything. I thought we were just going to go out to dinner together." He said as he held the card in his paw.
"Please, just read it."
Adam opened the card and began to read.
Dear Adam,
I love you with all my heart. Congratulations on actually graduating. I knew you could do it. I also know you'll be an amazing father soon.
Sarah
Adam lifted his gaze off of the letter and stared at her in disbelief.
"You mean that? Are you--"
He trailed off his sentence, and she nodded with a smile.
"I am."
He walked to her and kissed her deeply as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Marry me." He said with a smile.
She looked up into his bright blue eyes and nodded.
"I wouldn't have it any other way Adam. Of course i will."
He kissed her once more and took her paw tightly into his as they walked towards his truck. He helped her inside, and they both drove off down the highway toward better days.
