~~~Chapter Four: The Final Catalyst~~~

A dark, robed fox sat upon a throne in a large palace as a famous hedgehog slowly walked towards him along a narrow, red carpet. The place was dark and dimly lit by candle light. A child hid behind a royal banner as Sonic the Hedgehog confronted the robed fox on the throne. Sonic yelling out as he pointed a finger at the fox, "You've gone too far this time!"

"You were never confident in my abilities and now you are afraid of them." Replied the orange fox.

"Tails. You burnt Knothole to the ground. You killed Sally." The angry hedgehog then shouted in rage, "You are no better than Robotnik himself!"

"Never compare that monster to me. Sonic. Never!" Tails grunted before he waved his paw in dismissal, "I had nothing to do with what you said. It was probably just a robot malfunction. How unfortunate." His voice was very insincere, "You're just jealous that I became ruler of Mobius through reprogramming Robotnik's army." Sarah was soon to be standing next to Tails as he continued, "You virtually made me and Sarah as outcasts in Knothole long ago. Why should I care for what you have to say any more?" Narrowing his eyes at Sonic, "I once believed in you as the hero of Mobius. Look at you now. Pathetic."

"We will stop you."

"The freedom fighters will never stop any one. They never did. It was all you. Yet you were too much of an idiot to realise that." Tails sighed in annoyance before he spoke once more, "Now be gone. My open door policy for you has been revoked. Don't ever expect to return here in one piece."

Sonic dropped his glance to the ground as he clenched his fist. "Don't bother offering me the courtesy." Before his sights snapped back to focus on Tails, "Because I ain't leaving!" He shouted as he raced up towards him in a spin ball.

Tails' eyes went wide as Sonic came speeding towards him before he jumped out of the way just in time. Pushing Sarah aside with him so she was also out of harm's way. Getting up and dusting himself off, he then searched the room for where that menacing hedgehog went. Then out of no where he was hit on the full by a spin attack. The attack flung him into the air and before he realised: a flag pole that was sticking out on an angle would impale the two-tailed fox painfully. Yelling out in agony as he took his last breaths with his former friend watching him die.

The child that was hiding behind the royal banner on the other side of the room then called out, "Father!"

A moment later, Sarah rushed over to cover the eyes of the young fox before staring defiantly back at her husband's assassin. Sonic almost showing immediate regret for what he had done, but remained strong in his stance, "I'm sorry. It had to be done. I won't harm you or your child. It's not my thing. But I wouldn't put it pass the rest to come in storming and wanting more blood shed after what has been done." Closing his eyes before he pointed towards the back exit, "Go. Go now and never return. For your sake." Then gesturing to the child fox, "And his."

Once Sarah and her son were running away for their lives, the child asked his mother, "Where is father? What did he do with father?" Blinking confused at her.

"Come now. We must not stop." Sarah simply replied.

As they were running. Tails Junior's facial expression was that of a confused child. Unsure what was happening or what they were to do. He blinked once more. Then opened his eyes. Finding himself staring at that same pathetic hedgehog that was to be his father's executioner in the future. He now knew every thing and what needed to be done. He now had the power to change the future as his weapon was charging up to deliver that fatal blow to Sonic. Bunnie sat beside him as she begged for mercy for the hedgehog's sake.

"Now you die Sonic!" Shouted Tails Junior as he pulled the trigger to fire the energy weapon.

Suddenly Tails Junior was knocked to the ground and the energy weapon fired into the ceiling. Doctor Fox was holding him down. He glared through his glasses back at Bunnie and the stunned hedgehog as he shouted at them in pure desperation, "RUN!"

Bunnie didn't give it a second thought as she helped Sonic up before fleeing into the streets of Robotropolis. Hearing screams of painful suffering behind them as they exited the building.

Crystal blue water sparkled from the sun light before a hover craft shimmered over it. Speeding towards a tropical island in the distance. Even a curious dolphin jumped out of the water to get a closer look at the alien looking craft. It wasn't long until it landed in the heart of the island; next to a well camouflaged bunker. The hatch opened from the craft before Sarah stepped outside into lush jungle she was taken to.

Sarah was a little confused to why she was taken to this point and glanced around at the tree line above her before focusing back at the entrance to the almost hidden bunker. As if her presence was felt, the doors parted to offer her entry into the facility. Slowly she walked into the metallic entrance unsure of what she would find. Calling out into the empty rooms as they lit up by themselves when she approached them, "Hello? Any one here?"

Shrugging at receiving no response, she continued to explore the well crafted living areas and other rooms that served some functions that were beyond her knowledge. Stepping into a room filled with lights, monitors and buttons. She scanned around the room for a clue for what it did before some thing interesting caught her attention. One red button with hazard striped outline around it and a note attached to it. She went up to read the note which said: 'Push me.'

Sarah cautiously went to push the button and jumped in surprise as she heard a sharp, loud clunk. A door unlocked behind her and swung open all by it self. Staring back at her was a disfigured, black fox. She screamed not knowing who or what he was. Suddenly the exit to the room she was in was blocked by a solid wall; sealing her in.

It was after a couple of minutes before Sarah realised that the person in the other room was not going to attack her. Peering into the room once more - sure enough - she saw the black fox once again. The same pose as the last five times she peeked at him. Having the courage to walk in. Her sights did not leave the dark figure. She tilted her head a little side ways as she curiously eyed the black fox, "Hello?"

It was like talking to a brick wall. Sarah getting little fed up with getting no responsive, she questioned with a huff, "Are you even real?" Then waved her hand through the side of the hologram before responding to her own question, "Oh, you're not."

Looking down to notice there were some more buttons that seemed to be attached to the hologram. Again there was another note attached that red 'push me.'

"What else could go wrong?" Sarah muttered to herself as she pushed the button as instructed once again.

The vision of the dark fox soon faded with a flicker and a replacement hologram of Doctor Fox appeared. The message started almost immediately, "To whom this may concern. This recording is based off the autobiography of Tails Junior Prower. If I have led you here and given you an envelope. Please open it at your own digression."

Sarah brought out the envelope she was handed to by Doctor Fox and slowly opened it. The dark fox soon took over the hologram again as he started moving with audio this time, "This log I am now recording is a reminder of my past. So I do not forget in my time of madness." The hologram halted in speech for a moment, "My name is Tails Junior Prower. First born son of Miles and Sarah Prower."

Sarah's eyes lit up at the sound of her own name. Confused to who Miles was. She listened to the recording while she glanced down to read what was written on the note. Reading it out aloud to herself, "The one you know as Azure is really Miles "Tails" Prower." Pausing as she slowly red out the next line, "He is your. Twin. Brother."

"I received the name 'Tails' as my father wished. It was because he hated his real name, wanting to give me his commonly known nickname and also because I was born with two tails like him. I was told it was a rare gene passed down through my mother. Ironically my father also had the same gene." Continued the recording while Sarah looked on in shock at future being told to her in detail.

Sarah could not believe what she was hearing. It was all a bit too much for her. Coming to realise why Doctor Fox wasn't able to tell her all about it back at Robotropolis. At the same time, her heart fell into a slump at hearing this about the one she loved. Hearing it from other than the one she loved. She had been lied to.

About to walk out at the end of the recording, Sarah saw Doctor Fox's hologram reappeared again. "Now you know the truth. I urge you to not change this fate and to preserve the past. As much as you may not like to, he could be the catalyst for the end of Robotnik by the intervention of the current timeline. I may be able to help him. But if not. For one to be thrown into damnation, he may just save us all."

The recording ended abruptly as an alarm indicating there was an intruder in the bunker blared from the console interface.

Tails Junior panted heavily after he had forcefully removed Doctor Fox from his back before taking out his anger via the use of his energy weapon. Shaking his head after getting back up and looking to the ground at the burnt corpse. "You just don't listen. Do you?"

Next to the burnt corpse was Doctor Fox sitting up and staring back at his colleague, "I don't listen to bad advice I'm afraid. That's my second opinion."

"Next time you won't be so lucky to have a bumbling fool like Robotnik around for me to take my anger out on."

Fox pondered whether or not to inform him that what he just burnt to a crisp was actually a clone, "Maybe. Maybe not. But killing Sonic the Hedgehog? What were you thinking?!"

"It is none of your concern. My business is my own. You may not believe I came from the fu-"

Fox cut Tails Junior off mid sentence, "I believe you. Yet I don't believe taking out your personal vendettas in the past is right. If you continue this course of action. There won't BE a future if you're never born."

"Why do you say that?"

"The younger version of your father came back from the future as well. He was here to KILL you. Here. Now. In fact he had already done so with your original self."

"He just doesn't understand my real mission. It was Robotnik's fault for turning me against my mother and my father. I don't blame them for not trusting me."

"Robotnik will succeed his goal if you keep pushing it. He had already tried to turn you against your parents so that you either self abort yourself in the past. But now it is them turning against you so they won't go through with the pregnancy. Is that what you really want?"

"They would never..."

"They are just a couple of kids still. Naive and scared. They are inexperienced and could do some thing stupid due to your medalling. Is that what you really want?"

"My father will understand. I'll make him."

"It's too late for that now. I don't care if your parents are siblings or whether your vendettas are extremely personal. What I do know is. Robotnik is the real threat. You can regain the trust of your father later." Fox pausing with a smirk, "Plus I sent him away to buy you some time."

"What? Why did you do that?"

"For you BOTH to come to your senses and avoid a time paradox. You tell me. You're into this kind of stuff. What happens when there is a cause and an effect. However the effect is what causes the cause to begin with? What happens if that cause is taken away to begin with?"

Tails Junior fell silent.

"You can't save any one if you're never born and if you continue on your destructive path for revenge. You'll probably be mad enough to cause the end of the world as your father said you did." Fox pointed to Tails Junior to get his point across. "The end of you. The end of your family. The end of every one. Forever. No going back in time to fix it again." He grunted before he asked one more time, "Do you really want that?"

"Maybe you're right. I might have been a little too hasty in my plan since you freed my mind from that living hell. For now, I'll do it your way. You've done too much for me Fox. I thank you."

Next thing they knew, Snively walked into the room to see what all the shouting and screaming was about. He froze in fear as he saw the toasted corpse of Robotnik with Fox and a strange two-tailed fox standing beside him. "Julian? What did you do to him?" Before either fox could reply, Snively squeaked before running away.

"Awww crap." Fox sighed, "There goes Snively. So much for pulling the wool over his eyes."

"Snively? Isn't that Julian's nephew?" Tails Junior paused, "Wait." Then searched his surroundings as if noticing it for the first time, "We are in Robotropolis. What's going on Fox?"

"I tried to take over Robotropolis by using clones. Long story short. You killed the Robotnik clone that was my puppet and we just had Snively observe us with the dead clone." Explained Fox before a moment later, two SWAT bots came storming into the headquarters, "Damn. That little pip squeak is fast. He's reactivating the robots manually."

Tails Junior stepped in front of him, "No worries. My father fought these things for years. I'll show you how we deal with these antiques in the future." Immediately charging up his energy weapon quickly before firing accelerated bursts of electro-magnetic spheres that impacted dead on the torso armour-plate of the assaulting robots. "If this is the best Robotnik has to offer as a defence. I may as well take back Robotropolis single-handedly." He snickered as he watched the SWAT bots helplessly crumble before him.

"Don't get too cocky. More are coming."

Azure raced into the internal hallway of the bunker. Immediately calling out for his sister, "Sarah? Sarah? Are you here?" Then coming up against the blocked door way that led into the technical and tactics room. He banged on the solid blockage multiple times in desperation, "Sarah? Are you in there?"

The blockade soon raised into the ceiling to reveal Sarah was standing on the other side. She finally figured out how to open the security barrier. Once she saw Azure, she did not smile or frown. Simply stared back at him. Yet asked a curious question, "Is it true?"

Azure realising she must of listened to the recording. He was about to open his mouth when she shoved the note that Doctor Fox wrote into his face. There was nothing more he could argue, his guise was revealed. Exposed in the worst way imaginable. "Sarah. I-"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Sarah you don't understand."

"Understand what? That you lied to me?"

"Aye, deja vu. Except the shoe is on the other foot now."

"What do you mean by that?"

"If you want the truth Sarah. Just listen please. The reason why I didn't tell you who I was. Was because I was trying to protect you."

"Well, you did the opposite by hurting me very much so."

"The first time we met, the first time around. You deceived me. You didn't tell me you were my twin sister. I find this very unfair."

"The first time around? What are you talking about? The first time I saw you was when my village was being burnt to the ground."

"Argh! Sarah, just let me explain. This might sound a little surreal, but I travelled back in time to save you. That black fox you saw in that room." Azure pointed over to the hologram room, "HE is out to kill you. He did kill you." He trailed off with a saddened sigh, "I was hoping if I changed my identity, that it should of altered the future for the better."

"What are you saying? I'm really confused." Sarah's eyes showed signs of bewilderment.

"You saw the recording. Our son in the future. He made a time machine to go back to correct some thing. Then some thing went wrong. The short version is: I ended up using his time machine to make sure the future isn't repeated. There's the irony."

"How can this be though? We are brother and sister! Twins at that!"

"I know, but I love you. I was shocked to learn this the first time, but I found that it didn't matter because we loved each other."

Sarah took time out to think it all over. It was so much to take in all at once. She was lost in jumbled thought. It was then Azure came to caress himself around her to comfort her. She was frightened to what she had been shown, the first words she could muster was, "What of the future?"

"Don't worry about it. It will never happen as we are in control of the past." Azure nuzzled against her cheek and sighed, "We can change it."

A fist slammed into the head of a SWAT bot before an electrical charge surged through every circuit of the machine which caused it to explode. A group of Robotnik's finest guards would return fire with their laser armaments. Hiding behind what ever cover they could find to avoid being hit by electromagnetic bolts coming from Tails Junior's weapon.

"We can't keep this up forever!" Yelled Fox as he was fleeing back to his cloning labs to gather and destroy what he could, "Robotnik will probably be regaining control over Robotropolis by now. We should leave right now."

"You underestimate me Doc!" Tails Junior shouted back as he downed a couple more of Robotnik's assault force, "My energy cells have enough juice for the next twelve hours. I could be frying their circuits all day if I wanted to."

"Fortunately I'd like my city back before then." Said another familiar voice as the SWAT bots ceased fire, "You sure have impressed me tee-ay-one-seven-five. But now it is time to obey me once again."

Tails Junior turned back to face the direction to where the eerie familiar voice was coming from. There was Doctor Robotnik with Snively standing beside him. To make things worse, Doctor Fox was being held at gun point while he shouted at Tails Junior, "Just run! Don't worry about me."

"I won't run. He doesn't scare me." Tails Junior stated before he began stepping towards Robotnik with his arm levelled at him, "Take this!" Firing a trio of high-voltage energy bolts at the tyrant to rid of him the same way he did to the clone.

Robotnik simply laughed evilly as he stood there. The three charges of energy splashed around a sphere-like shield that was protecting him from severe harm. "Your actions are pointless. Now if you are done playing around. We have some unfinished business to attend to." He turned to face his prisoner, "Fox! Thank you for returning my commander back to me. You are no longer needed." Raising his laser pistol before firing multiple times into the defenceless scientist.

"Fox!" Tails Junior came to a stand still as he called out in shock when his friend fell lifelessly limp to the ground, "You killed him!"

"Now if you would be so kind to return what is mine."

"Never!" A defiant Tails Junior stood his ground as SWAT bots began to circle around his position. Tapping away at his wrist device to change the settings before pulling out a chaos emerald, "You'll never get your hands on this." Slamming the emerald into a well fitting slot in the device. Narrowing his eyes as he instantly sprinted towards Robotnik. Raising a fist into the air before throwing it forward against the shield that protected the evil Doctor, "CHAOS CONTROL!"

A shockwave threw Robotnik backward against the wall and he slid back to the ground after the impact. Dazed and outraged at being struck, his eyes rapidly searched the area, "Where is he?" Receiving no answer - even from Snively - he barked, "Find him!"

Azure brushed a paw passed his bandaged shoulder. A reminder of the first time he lost the love of his life. He didn't know what to do if he lost her again. Looking back to Sarah, he spoke wearily, "You have no idea what I have been through. The cloth wrapped around my shoulder was bandaged by you shortly before you were murdered before my eyes."

"Oh." Sarah not knowing what else to say. Coming to terms about the whole 'from the future' thing. "That must of been terrible for you. And me I guess." She thought to change the subject, "So if you came from the future. What happens to you in the past?"

"He's still here. So there is kind of two of me now. Both past and future. As I am not from this exact timeline, I'm technically not your real twin brother. Heck, with the time differences, I'm technically your older brother now."

"Very weird. Certainly a lot to think about." Sarah wanted to satisfy her curiosity as she asked a couple more questions, "The you in the past. Will he eventually turn into you and follow what you did?"

Azure shook his head, "Nope. He'll continue on as if he never met you. It's an odd thing this time travel business. For I am the one out of place here."

"That means he'll never know he ever had a twin sister if I don't meet him." Sarah paused as she quietly added, "Or know that I ever existed."

"Sadly yes." Azure came to realised some thing that depressed him a little, "It is probably my fault. I couldn't save you in my timeline and now I'm using some one else's first chance as my second." He turned away from her as he felt like crying almost, "I probably should of just made sure you were safe and never become involved with you. I'm sorry. I understand if you wish to live your own life the way you want to live it. You should be with the Tails of this timeline if any thing."

Sarah came up from behind Azure, brushing a paw along one of his two tails before turning him to face her. She smiled coyly as she looked up into his eyes, "There's only one problem though. I didn't fall in love with the Tails of this timeline." She paused before placing a sweet kiss upon his muzzle, "I fell in love with you."

Azure almost at a loss for words, "Sarah..."

Sarah placed a finger at his muzzle, "Shh. Just come with me." She led Azure to one of the other compartments in the facility. The primary bedroom that was luxurious and spacious. Meant only for the fallen royal family and VIPs. The bed in the middle of the room was all but inviting.

Azure moved with Sarah over towards the bed where he then placed her upon her side upon it. Resting comfortably behind her upon the bed. Hugging her back and kissing along her left shoulder blade. He then slipped his paws around her chest and under her poncho. Her jaw hung loose to breathe rapidly while her brother nuzzled and kissed her neck line. Rubbing his paws up and down along her chest before lifting her poncho up from her.

Slowly trailing down his sister's body, Azure carefully reached for and removed the soft, cloth belt that was wrapped around and covering her lower end. Placing the loincloth aside as he closed in against his twin sibling. Wrapping his arms around her waist and placing his paws over hers whilst brushing their soft fur against each other. The two lying on their sides as he caressed her back and naked body lovingly.

Sarah felt some thing nudge its way between her thighs. Realising what it was as she was feeling the tip of her brother's shaft prodding against her vaginal lips. Materialising from thin air in a forest. A forced gasp. Then suddenly arriving at some underwater ruins. A puzzled frown. Next stop was in a lush, tropical area. An evil eye. Tails Junior had over heated his time dilation device from overuse. Narrowly escaping the clutches of Doctor Robotnik. He now stood in front of the secret bunker he designed and built. It had been long forgotten about since the take over. Most of the royal family who knew about the evacuation and rendezvous points had been silenced one way or another.

He would see to his revenge upon Sonic, to change the future and then clean up the mess in the past. Once that was done: making his parents understand his intentions was the next top priority.

Tails Junior saw that all power levels were green. Life support was green. Ignition sequence was green. External sensors enabled. Defence systems charging. Fail safe protocols in effect. Every thing was good to go. Punching a couple more buttons upon the console before flicking the switch and firing the boosters. "It's good to be back sugar." Bunnie acknowledged Sally's concern as she set Sonic down on the ground. "It was quite weird though. Just as I was about to be captured. All the robots simply shut down. Then Sonic met up with me and we decided to go check out Robotropolis H.Q. to see what was up. Then he almost got electrocuted by an odd looking fox that had two tails like Tails."

"Where is Tails any way?" Sonic raised an inquisitive eye brow towards Sally.

Just as Sally was about to open her mouth, "Right here Sonic!" Called out Tails. He jumped out of the doorway of his hut and headed on over to the group, "I was just helping Aunt Sally with some chores. What's going on?"

"Huh?" Sonic swore Tails was a wreck last time he saw him. Completely terrified of Sally. He guessed she must of smoothed things over. She was good at that and they did seem to have one of those bonds. Nothing like what Sonic had. But different.

Sonic shrugged before waving at Tails to come over, "Come on over little bro. We made need your help on this one."

"Sure. How can I help?" Tails excitedly offered as he was usually never allowed on dangerous missions, "I'll be sure to do my best at what ever you ask!"

"Do you know if you have any relatives at all? Or know of any other foxes?"

Tails shook his head a little confused, "No. Not at all." Then a moment later he recalled some thing, "Wait. Back at Robotropolis. There were. I saw two in Robotnik's detention centre." He sighed a little disappointed, "I didn't get a good look at them though."

"Hmm. Well that's kind of a mystery. Because I was almost fried by one with two tails and another kind of saved my life by pinning my attacker to the ground. I'm just curious if they were related to you."

Tails simply shrugged his shoulders, "Heck if I know."

A constant rumbling sound dominated the hallways of the space yacht as the Prower twins navigated around them. Azure knew if there was any one else on the ship, the only place they could pilot the ship was from the technical and tactics room. It wasn't much further. A couple of steps more and he'll jump into the room to take down Tails Junior by surprise.

Azure followed through with his plan and leapt into the room, "Ah haaaa- he's not here." Appearing baffled to where the pilot of the ship may be, "Okay. This is ridiculous. Where else could he be?"

"Is there a cockpit?" Sarah thought to ask. "See if there's any indication of one on the ship's blue prints on one of its diagnostic systems over there." Azure raised an eye brow at her and she simply responded with a giggle, "What? I am not just a pretty face you know. I can read too" Pointing to the instructions posted on the wall by Doctor Fox.

Pressing a couple of buttons upon the input console before a map appeared on one of the over hanging monitors, Azure immediately pointed to one spot, "There it is! Come on. Let's go!"

The twin siblings raced back through the narrow corridors of the flying yacht before they reached a sealed door that was barely noticeable. There was a lever that was next to the cockpit entrance. After it was pulled down by Azure, the locks disengaged and the hatch slid open to reveal what was on the other side.

There sat Tails Junior at the controls of the ship. Aware of the open doorway, he slowly turned his head back to face the intruders behind him. Narrowing his eyes at both of them. "You shouldn't be here."

Sitting once again upon his prized throne, Doctor Robotnik turned to face Snively for the hourly status report. Never forgetting his betrayal from before, but needed him for damage control. "What is it now?"

"Sire. We were unable to locate tee-ay-one-seven-five." Hesitantly reported Snively as he was intimidated by Robotnik's response, "How ever. Ninety-five percent of all SWAT bots are back in operation and we've begun to use the cloning facility Doctor Fox left behind."

"Really? What use can we make of the late doctor's lab?" Inquired the evil dictator.

Snively proudly announced in a nasal tone, "You'll be pleased to know that we have enough materials to recreate a duplicate clone of tee-ay-one-seven-five. Two times over."

"Splendid. Proceed with production of the clones at once!"

"But then they will be needed to be sent to the robotizier immediately if we wish to have any attempts at controlling them."

Robotnik grinned with a sinister smile, "No. I have a better idea."

A rusty looking barge roared across the sky over Knothole. The villagers below unable to miss the low flying space yacht that almost took the village with it. The Knothole group all covering their ears until the wake of the sonic boom from the aged space ship had passed.

"What in the world was that thing?" Bunnie the first to get a word in.

Sally looked to the sky to get an indication of where it was going, "It seems to be heading straight towards Robotropolis."

"Some thing big is going on." Sonic grunted as he got back on his feet, "I think I'm good to go. Sal? Bunnie?"

"I want to come too!" Protested Tails in fear of being left out again.

Sally shook her head, "Now Tails. You know we can't let you."

"I don't know Sal. I have a feeling we may need him on this one." Sonic making his stance on the situation.

"Sonic! You almost got killed and even needed Bunnie's help to get back to Knothole. You can't expect him-"

"I can do it Sally." Tails pleaded to her, looking up to her as he continued, "Please let me go this once."

Sally sighed a little frustrated being on the losing side of the argument, "Oh fine. But please be careful. I don't want any thing to happen to you." A little desperation in her tone before quickly adding, "Or any one else."

Sonic smirked as he stood ready for any thing now, "Then it is settled. We'll all storm Robotropolis. Gather intel and leave me to kick Robotnik butt."

"Sonic!"

"Okay. Okay. We will all get out safely in the end." Sonic laughed at teasing Sally. He then searched around before asking, "Where's Ant?"

"Anton!" Bunnie yelled as she knew exactly where he was.

A faint yelling in reply from Anton could be heard, "What, what?! First that loud noise. Now you are disturbing my beauty sleep!" Popping his head out from his hut, "You expect moi to give that up? Oh non-non-non!" Speaking with his infamous French accent.

Bunnie huffed annoyed, "That lazy little..." About to head on over and show Anton what for.

"Leave him. He'll only slow us down any way." Sonic joked before leading the way, "Lets head out before the party starts with out us."

"Au revoir!" Dismissed Anton as they left before returning to sleep. Muttering as the coyote went to get comfortable in bed again, "Stuperd hedgehog. Expecting moi to go on another of his suicider mi'sions. Humph!"

Tails Junior got up from his seat as he confronted his younger parents. It was a moment of awkward silence. Leaving the ship on autopilot, he finally let out a sigh before speaking, "Well. Now that you two are here. I could use your help. Help me, help you sort of thing."

This totally shocked the Prower twins with Azure the first to respond, "What? You want our help?" Becoming a little suspicious as he interrogated him a little further, "Help you with what?"

"I know you don't trust me. I don't blame you. Yet you have my word no harm will ever come from me again. My mission is to stop Robotnik. Not kill either of you."

"Okay. So what was with you trying to kill Sonic then?"

"A little misunderstanding." Simply put by Tails Junior before he turned back to face the cockpit, "We will talk later. The ship has almost arrived at Robotropolis."

"What is that Robotnik up to now any way?"

"He killed Fox." Tails Junior saw a noticeable reaction from Sarah after hearing such news, "Now he has the entire cloning project under his control. If you thought one of me was bad enough. Imagine more than one under Robotnik's command and they know where Knothole is."

"You've got to be kidding me."

"I'm afraid not father." Tails Junior then gestured to his parents, "I'll be needing you both to fly and fire the weapons at key locations."

"This ship has weapons?!"

"Basic ones, yes. This is not a military craft. What should be used for self defence, we are using for a short and precise strike."

"Sounds like a plan. What can we do?"

"Father, you'll be in charge of the weapon systems. Mother, you will take over from me to fly the ship." Instructed Tails Junior before he added, "I'll descend to the surface where I will take out Robotnik personally."

Sarah hesitantly blurted out, "But I don't know how to fly the thing."

"That's okay. I'll give you both a crash course on how to operate the systems of this ship."

Azure nodded as he sat at the weapons and targeting console before looking over his shoulder at Tails Junior, "I'll just have to get used to you being on our side now."

Sarah shrugged a little as she sat down and commented, "Don't worry about me. I don't even know what is going on half the time any way."

Back at Robotropolis. Robotnik was assessing the readiness of all the robots under his command. Preparing for a full offensive strike on the Freedom Fighters. He had enough of his enemies invading his fortress and wanted to wipe them all out once and for all. It would be weeks before the new doomsday project is completed and he needed to keep the Mobians at bay until it was ready for deployment. Then he will have total control of Mobius with every one answering to him with out question.

The tyrant inspected all the monitors before frowning as he received a disturbing early warning message via a cold, monotone computer system, "Warning! Warning! Unknown aircraft approaching Robotropolis. Civilian class space vessel. Low threat."

"What is this meaning of this, Snively!" Robotnik shouted across the room to his nephew, "Send a squadron of fliers to intercept and destroy that craft."

"Yes sire." Snively immediately rushed over to the communication unit that was connected to the main hanger bay, "Squadron two in quadrant four. Take off. Form delta formation and intercept."

"Hang on. We have company." Calmly stated Tails Junior as he engaged the afterburners to speed up their approach, "We have about a dozen of Robotnik's fliers coming straight for us. Do you see them father?"

"Check." Azure responded before adding, "You'd think he'd send more."

"Maybe he thinks we are unarmed and are not worth the effort." Sarah figured.

Tails Junior agreed with Sarah's judgement, "That's exactly right, Mother. This is a modified civilian vessel. All the weapons are hidden." He paused as he banked the ship to the left and then back to the right to avoid a towering exhaust pipe from below, "Prep the missile pods on my mark."

Outside of the rusty space vessel, it suddenly gained whiskers as missile pods suddenly lined the sides of the hull. Like a crackling fireworks display, the pods started unloading their ordinance and sent streams of heat seeking rockets directly towards the dozen fliers. Another set of larger fireworks bloomed as the fliers started exploding into fiery clouds.

How ever, one managed to avoid receiving a missile lock by temporarily shutting down its engines before igniting its boosters to intercept the space yacht once again. The single flier was now circling around the space ship and firing away with its primary laser weapon. Attempting to cut open the hull of the ship with rapid bursts of laser fire.

"It's too close and too fast for missiles. Use the automated point defence system to take it out." Stressed Tails Junior as they were taking minor damage from the single flier.

Azure nodded as he hit the button responsible for activating the automated point defence system. A charging hum vibrated the ship as a targeting laser tracked the flier that was doing loops around them before the energy charge discharged straight at the robotic aircraft. Blasting the machine into pieces of scrap metal.

The space yacht flew through the debris of the flier and descended straight towards the headquarters of Robotropolis. Tails Junior leapt out of his seat and ran out of the cockpit shouting, "Mother! Take over now!"

The side airlock of the space craft would disengage and a couple of larger missile pods extended from the belly of the ship. Tails Junior leapt from out of the airlock hatch before disappearing in a flash of light. With an ear piercing scream, one high explosive missile was launched directly at Robotropolis head quarters.

Robotnik slammed his fists on his chair in his rage, "That is no civilian vessel! We are under attack!" Swivelling on his chair to face the sky monitors, "Activate the anti-aircraft cannons."

"They've just been destroyed." Snively quietly made it aware to his uncle.

"What?! You mean we are completely def-" Robotnik was cut off when a large detonation threw him and his chair to the other side of the room.

Tails Junior appeared from out of the smoke and flames. The time dilation machine and the chaos emerald upon his arm was displayed across his chest. With fists clenched, he confronted the dictator in his rage, "Your time has come! No more games." He used his paw to cut the air horizontally in front of him, "This is the end of the line for you, Robotnik."

Struggling to sit up again, Robotnik growled, "Why you little." Reaching for his panic button near by. Coughing from the smoke and debris that crowded the area as he staggered to stand up, "You shouldn't of returned. Now you can witness my cunning genius!"

"I'm done talking." Shouted Tails Junior as he darted towards Robotnik. Phasing multiple times as he sped towards him, "Chaos! Chaos! Chaos!" Finally disappearing completely before appearing mid-air, right front of Robotnik's face. "CONTROL!" Giving the egged shaped dictator a clean kick to the head before phasing behind him and elbow striking him in the back.

"Auurrgh!" Robotnik yelled in pain as he went spinning to the middle of the room before landing with a heavy grunt. He spoke into the communication device he pulled out, "Send in the mark twos." Then collapsed in pain.

Tails Junior wasted no time in carrying out his revenge on the person who had put him through pain and anguish for countless years. He may not be the real deal himself, but the memories of his life were. Building speed as he raced towards Robotnik once again, he came to a skidding halt when two heavily armed and armoured, two-tailed fox clones landed directly in front of him, "Ah shi-"

A simultaneous punch from both the metallic clones sent Tails Junior flying back to where he came from and hit the wall before dropping to the floor and rolling a few times. The two clones of him were armed in exo-suits and slowly approached him like mindless zombies.

Slicing through the polluted air, the space yacht banked to the right and then sharply to the left. The automated point defence tracking system was performing at its maximum as more fliers were dispatched to harass the spacecraft. Platoons of SWAT bots began retreating to aid their master in the Robotropolis headquarters. The Prower twins thought they could help out by releasing a barrage of rockets at swarms of robots. A carpet of fire soon followed as it engulfed all the machines. The yacht swooping over the lake of fire as it burned.

Spotting another group of SWATs running along the southern road to their master's distress call. Azure attempted to fire the mini-missile pods to no success, "We're out of clusters. Switching to high explosives. They're the last ones too." Dropping a couple of the potent missiles, the first one made a direct hit to wipe out half of the invading robots. The second wasn't as successful as one of the robots actually managed to nudge the missile off course just before it hit.

The out of control missile went spiralling straight towards the headquarters and hit a little off from where the previous missile hit. An enormous blast shrouded the building from the air as the space yacht flew over it at mach speed. The city was now beginning to look like a war zone as fires raged and debris were scattered through out the streets.

A chunk of the wall flew across the room to collect one of the evil clones before searing flames followed through. Tails Junior shook off his injuries and managed to jump back into the fight. Searching the room to see what remained before one of the evil clones charged out of the flames while on fire. Running straight at him.

Tails Junior levelled his arm and charged his wrist weapon. Firing a burst of highly charged electrons at the image of hell. The burning clone was struck by the discharges and repelled away towards the middle of the main view screen. The metal parts of the clone connected to the wrong wires as it crashed through the huge monitor and disappeared in a violent explosion. Tails Junior covering his face as pieces of glass zipped pass him, he smirked as he lowered his paws, "Well, that takes care of those two."

For a moment of silence, it didn't last long as a chunk of broken wall was thrown towards Tails Junior. His eyes went wide as he saw the large mass flying towards him. Then jumping out of the way just in time as the solid metal landed with a loud crash. Looking back up, he saw the remaining evil clone leaping through the air and punching a dent in the floor where he was just a moment ago. "Or not."

Breathing heavily, gasping for air as the room was filling with smoke and every thing was a blaze. A part of the ceiling came crashing down and created a barrier between Tails Junior and the evil clone. Spotting an exit behind him, he dismissed the other clone with the waving motion of his hand and snapped, "I don't have time for this! I'll deal with you later."

Another support beam holding the roof was about to fall and block the entrance. Taking a couple of steps before activating a burst of chaos control to make it in time. The sounds of crashing structural damage echoing through the hallways as he ran non-stop to his goal. The destruction of the cloning labs. If it wasn't destroyed: it could change the course of history in favour of Doctor Robotnik.

Arriving in the underground labs, Tails Junior pulled out the high explosive charges that would erase the last of what he and Doctor Fox ever did. It was a good thing his father took out most of his experiments at the sea lab. This was all that was left. Placing half a dozen of charges around the room before a raid of SWAT bots came pouring into the room. The inedible laser fire was sure to follow as always.

In the adjacent street to the Robotropolis headquarters, a flash of light glimmered before Tails Junior appeared seemingly out of no where. Just in time for the entire Robotropolis headquarters to be levelled to the ground by the internal detonations from multiple high explosive charges. For a few minutes it would be raining fire and molten metal. Looking towards the sky with a smile, he exhaled deeply and calmly stated, "It's done."

Suddenly the time dilation device was shot off Tails Junior's wrist by a well aimed laser snipe, "No. I'm not finished yet." Growled Robotnik as he was escorted by a couple of SWAT bots and the evil clone bearing a sniper rifle attachment. "You've been more of a thorn in my side than that irritating blue hedgehog."

"Don't you ever die?"

"No. But you will." Robotnik pointed a finger for the evil clone to take him out with a sniper shot. "Finish him!" He barked as the clone took aim and immediately fired a direct shot.

Tails Junior would have been instantly killed if he was standing where he was a moment ago. A blue blur snatched him away just in time as the sniper shot took out a chunk of concrete from the road. The space yacht roaring over head as it circled around to survey the situation.

Robotnik went red with fury as he never got his way. Stomping the ground as he finally had a temper tantrum, "Just once. I'd like some results from you imbeciles!"

"Doing a little redecorating with your H.Q. Robotnik?" Sonic laughed from a roof top, "Let me be the first to say. You stink at it!" He couldn't help but burst out in laughter at the dictator's misfortune.

"Argh! I hate that hedgehog! I hate that fox! I hate you all!" Shouted Robotnik from below.

"Now, now, now. No need to get personal." Smirked Sonic as he placed his paws on his hips and proudly stood there.

Robotnik in his blind rage, snatched the sniper rifle from the evil clone and proceeded to fire shots at Sonic again and again. Sonic began jumping all over the place and even patting his behind to taunt his arch nemesis, "Over here! Nope. You missed me! Try here. Oh so close! Better luck next time!"

Eventually Robotnik was so fed up, he threw the sniper rifle to the ground so hard that the laser focus-lens shattered; the rest of the weapon being broken in many other places. The space yacht made another pass and a red targeting beam focused upon the evil clone for a few seconds. The clone had enough time to look to the sky to see a red blob of energy blast him into oblivion.

Tails Junior returned to the ground and picked up his damaged device. He was relieved that the time circuits were in working order. But the weaponry took a fatal blow. Still, he strapped it back on his forearm and narrowed his eyes at Robotnik towards the other end of the road. Sonic standing beside Tails Junior a moment later.

The intimidating hedgehog and two-tailed fox were too much for the cowardly dictator to handle. He started backing away before running off, yelling at his personal robot guards, "Retreat! Retreat! Pull back and regroup!"

Once Robotnik was far enough away, Tails Junior turned to face Sonic. As Sonic was being cool about the whole situation, he was the first to speak up, "Hey pal. Thought you might of needed a helping hand. Lucky I came just in time."

"Thanks for saving me. I appreciate it." Humbly replied the two-tailed fox.

Sonic waved in dismissal at Tails Junior, "No sweat. It's what I do best." He turned his back to him as he glanced over to the direction where Robotnik was running off to, "Think we should chase after him?"

"He can live. For now." Tails Junior replied calmly and calculatingly. "As some thing more important has come up." He paused and spoke once more to him in a dark tone, "Though I am grateful for you saving me. I cannot offer you the same courtesy."

"Wait, wha-" Sonic went to turn around but was promptly stopped by a quick karate chop to the back of the head. He was knocked out cold and fell helplessly to the ground.

Tails Junior looked to the sky as he waited for the space yacht to make another pass before he and Sonic disappeared into a flash of light. Following this: Tails, Sally and Bunnie arrived on the scene seconds later. Tails searching the area before speaking up, "Sonic was just here."

"He's not here any more, sugar." Noted Bunnie before she peered into the distance, "Is that Robotnik over there?"

"He's getting away!" Tails pointing out the obvious as he looked over to Sally for what the plan was. "I still don't see Sonic any where."

"It seems Robotropolis has taken a big hit by some renegades. I think we've seen all we need to." Sally tried scanned the area using NICOLE to pick up robot signatures on radar. It was a mess with all the floating debris scattered every where, "Robotnik still has an army of SWAT bots on high alert and it will be best if don't get caught in the cross fire. We'll meet Sonic at the rendezvous point we agreed on." She informed the rest before they began to head out to avoid detection of any Robotnik's remaining forces in the area.

As the space yacht was set back on autopilot. Azure and Sarah rushed to the storage area of the ship after sensors detected Tails Junior had arrived at that point. They opened the hatch to that section of the ship before shielding their faces from the wind rushing towards them. Once they were able to get a clean view, they found their son putting a knife to Sonic's throat. The horrified Prower twins shouted in unison, "Stop!"

Tails Junior immediately looked up at his parents and sighed, "Okay. Let me explain why I have to do this." Making his tone of voice aggressive to overcome the howling wind that was whipping around the exposed compartment.

"Absolutely not!" Sarah protested, "I don't care what reason you have to kill him. The Freedom Fighters need Sonic. The tales of his heroism are no stranger to any one through out all the villages I've travelled to. He has never done anything wrong!"

Shutting the cargo bay doors to the outside, Tails Junior retorted, "That may be so. But which life are you willing to save in the future? Sonic or him." Pointing towards Azure.

"Is that a threat?" Growled Azure in reply.

"By no means. This blue hedgehog you see before you, father. Is your future executioner."

Azure was speechless for a moment before he shook his head and refused to believe such a thing, "No. That can't be. You're lying." Closing his eyes to think about the situation for a second, "Even if that was true in your timeline. We have changed it. It will never have to happen."

"No. It won't father. No where on Mobius will you be able to escape your destiny than you could your own shadow. There are some things you can change. There are some things you cannot." Giving a glance over to Sarah as Tails Junior added darkly, "Mother taught me that."

"It doesn't have to be this way."

"It's now or never father. I can kill him right now and your survival is guaranteed."

"If that is the chance I have to take by letting him live. Then so be it."

Tails Junior lowered his knife in disbelief and disappointment. Coming so far, only to be denied by the one he was trying to save, "As you wish father." He then suddenly flung the knife and had it embedded into the wall, "I just hope you know what you are doing." He put a fair distance between the unconscious hedgehog and his parents as he looked out the window towards Robotropolis. "Robotnik's time will come. Justice will be served with or without my intervention. He no longer has the cloning facility nor any other advancement I brought from the future. It is done. I've cleaned up the mess I've created in the past." He glanced around at the space yacht's interior, "As this ship is of no military value, I won't bother with it." He paused, "There is only one thing left to destroy to correct the timeline." The adult two-tailed fox glancing at his parents one last time as he spoke regretfully, "I wish you both the best. Mother. Father. The future is up to you."

"What are you doing?" Azure oblivious to his motives.

Reaching over to hit the button to reopen the cargo bay doors. He turned to face the open air that rushed back inside. Tapping a few buttons on his time dilation device as it began to whine a sound of warning that grew in volume. "I am no longer needed here, nor do I belong here." Turning his head back towards his parents, he spoke one last time in a heavy tone of voice, "Farewell." Closing his eyes, he fell off the side of the ship and into a free fall.

Sarah started stepping towards her son, "Wait. Don't-" Running over just in time to witness an explosion engulfing Tails Junior mid-air before the explosion violently imploded into a burning flash of light. "No!" She cried out. Feeling her heart slump into despair and was immediately comforted by Azure, "He didn't have to do that."

Azure held Sarah in his arms to shelter her from the wind as he whispered into her ear closely, "Don't be sad Sarah. This time we will make this right. The future we will bring him into will be perfect."

"Do you think we can't change the future like he said?"

"I know we can change the future." Azure confidently stated. Hitting the large button to have the cargo bay doors slowly close once again before adding, "He was right though. There is no where on Mobius that we can escape our destiny."

"No where on Mobius." Sarah repeated as Azure made her realised the meaning behind it. "This space ship. He left it for us."

"We don't belong here. On this planet that is."

Sarah nodded before pointing over to Sonic, "We can't take him with us. I don't even know how to land this thing." She turned back to face Azure, "What should we do with him?"

Azure smirked, "I have an idea."

Anton was sound asleep when the space yacht flew over Knothole with an earth shattering roar. Grumbling incoherent words in his French accent as he sat up to see what on Mobius was going on. A whistling sound could be then faintly heard. But it got louder and louder.

Suddenly an escape pod came crashing through the roof of Anton's hut that had him shot up from his bed with a freaked-out scream. Hiding behind his bed, he peered over at the foreign, egg-shaped pod and shrieked when the hatched automatically opened up. Revealing the contents of the escape pod was an unconscious Sonic the Hedgehog.

Needless to say. Anton was not happy.

~~~Epilogue~~~

Eventually the inhabitants of Knothole returned to their daily lives as Freedom Fighters. The exception being the Tails Prower of the past and Sally having their occasional alone time together instead of the innocent bed time story every night. At least his trust in her had been fully restored and every thing else was back to normal. Doctor Robotnik was quick to rebuild his headquarters to exactly the way he liked it; the way it was. Remaining as the tyrant over Mobius until the stories that predict a brighter future for the Mobians comes to pass.

Approximately one year later.

A rusty coloured spacecraft drifted through the dark, vacuum of space. Far from Mobius. Inside the ship, Sarah was resting wearily on the bed as her beloved mate had just delivered their child only minutes ago. He went to wrap the child in a white cloth before walking back over to her, "What shall we call him?" He asked with a kind smile.

"How about Tails Junior. You think that will be okay, Tails?" Sarah innocently inquired as she glanced over at her baby boy.

Tails of the future had dropped his cover name and returned to freely being known as his beloved nickname once again. He laughed a bit as he carefully handed Sarah their child, "No. I think I'd like to keep my name this time." He paused while gazing at her, "How about Azure? Azure Prower. A reminder of the ordeal we went through and the love we shared to bring him into this better future."

"That sounds like a perfect name for him." Sarah smiled joyfully before she indicated to the baby girl she was holding in her other arm, "How about a name for her?"

Tails replied, "I named our son. It's only fair you get to name our daughter." Before kneeling down beside the bed next to Sarah so they could hold the newborns together. "What are you going to name her?"

"Ruby." Sarah answered as she stroked the forehead of her daughter, "Her coat is kind of a shade of red. I think it suits her."

"It's a beautiful name. She'll be just as pretty as her mother." Azure nuzzled Sarah before making an observation, "Hmm. A twin boy and girl. Now there's trouble." Chuckling at the irony of it all.

Sarah gently bit her lip in thought before simply giving Tails a mischievous smirk.

The space yacht continued to drift peacefully through the cosmos. A nearby star appeared from total darkness before it then created an enormous, curved silhouette. As the star rose, its light revealed a planet of lush vegetation and dominating seas below. The Prower spacecraft slowly floated towards the planetary body in a gently descending orbit.
