Snow, a beautiful snow white Arctic wolf, sat down at her computer desk, pushing the on button to her computer. She smiled as her computer booted up, making all sorts of random beeps and noises. The screen finally loaded and she brought up Internet Explorer. Her tail wagged as she entered the address of her favorite show on the internet, www.FearForm.ff.
A simple web page loaded. There was no links, no about me information. Just the title in red bold letters, FearForm, and a video embed. Snow glanced at the clock on her computer. It was only 10:59pm on Thursday. She growled as she waited for the show to start streaming. The clocked turned to 11pm. She smiled as she watched the gray play button turn black. She eagerly pushed play.
"Welcome to FearForm." Came a distorted voice as the logo for FF appeared. "The only show on the internet that tests you to the extreme." Snow turned up the volume on her speakers. "This week, we have kidnapped a blue wolf." The logo slowly faded off the screen, switching to a recording camera. The room was pitch black, so the camera's night vision was activated. In the middle of a room laid a wolf, who appeared to be sleeping.
"This wolf from New Hampshire is deathly afraid of snakes!" The wolf started to stir. He lifted his arm up but couldn't feel a thing. "Will he go home with 11 Million dollars?! Or will he be transformed into the thing he fears the most?" The announcer cleared his throat. "Let's find out on this week's FearForm!"
The blue wolf struggled to his feet, his paws flying in every direction. The room was pitch black and silent. He felt his heart trying to jump out of his chest.
All of a sudden, the lights of the room turned on. The blue wolf fell down at the sudden change in environment, tightly closing his eyes. He slowly opened them, getting use to the bright LED lighting. As soon as his eyes adjusted, he saw he was in a small room, no bigger than his own room. There was no furniture, Just a camera on the back wall that sat next to a old, rundown speaker. He turned his head to left spotting a metal door. He jumped to his feet and ran to it. He grabbed the handle, turning it. It was locked. He tried running into the door, throwing his body weight against it. He failed.
He stood in the middle of the small room panting, his shoulder killing him. Now what was he going to do? A high pitch noise entered the room, forcing the wolf to cover his ears. "Hello, Kobalt Wolf." Came a distorted voice from the old speaker.
"Let me out!" He screamed.
"You have been chosen as the next contestant for FearForm!" Continued the voice as if it didn't hear the pleading wolf.
"I said, let me the fuck out!" He yelled with all his might.
"As you wish." Kobalt jumped at the sound of the door unlocking. He got into a boxer stance, assuming someone was going to come in there to hurt him. He waited a few seconds, staring at the door handle.
"Well?" Came the voice from the speaker. Kobalt turned his head looking at the speaker. It must be a trick. He looked at the door again, letting a few moments pass. He slowly scooted to the door, keeping his fists up. He waited again. Nothing busted through the door. He reached for the handle with his right paw. "Once you open the door, the game begins."
Kobalt stopped. He looked at the speaker. "Game?" He squeaked.
"As I was saying, before you rudely interrupted me. You have been chosen as the next contestant on FearForm, where we help you conquer your fear." The wolf stared at the speaker box in disbelief. "If you win your challenge, you get to go home with 11 Million dollars!" A sound effect of a crowd cheering came over the loud speaker.
"And...if I...loose?" He asked softly.
"You get transformed into the thing you fear most." Chuckled the voice.
He gulped. He didn't want to be transformed. Plus, what's the chances that this stranger even knows what his fear is? "And if I refuse to play your game?" His voice got a little more confident.
The voice laughed. "This isn't my first gig, Wolf. We'll just transform you right away." The voice continued to laugh.
This guy is crazy. Who the hell kidnaps someone just to play a game? I'll win this challenge. No problem. There's no way he knows what I'm afraid of.
He put his paw on the handle and turned it, opening the door slightly. He sniffed the air. It had a very weird odor. He opened the door a little more and poked his head out. It was just a hallway, not even 62 feet in length. At the end of the hall was a door with exit on it. He giggled to himself. "I'm so afraid of hallways." He joked to himself.
He opened the door all the way, taking a step into the hall. He felt something move across his left foot. He causally looked down, thinking it was all in his mind. His eyes widen with surprise and he took a sharp breath. It was a snake! His gaze traveled down the hallway, seeing the the floor was moving.
He jumped back, falling back into the room. He quickly shut the door, cutting a snake in half that attempted the enter. "What the fuck!" He screamed at the speaker. No one replied. "This is fucking messed up! How the fuck did you know I was..." his whole body started to shake. He was going to loose! His worst fear was behind that door and it wasn't just one, but hundreds.
He sniffed the air, it smelt weird in there. Was it the snake odor that traveled into the room? No. It was different. He stood up, walking around the room. "Where is that smell coming from?" He whispered to himself. In the corner of the room he discovered a pipe, maybe an inch round. The smell was defiantly coming from there. He kneeled down to get a better look. A light green mist was coming out. He jumped up and ran to the other side of the room.
"Poison!?!" He yelled. "I thought you said I would be transformed if I lost!" There was still no answer from the speaker.
"Okay, okay." He tried to calm down. "The room is filling with something and my only exit has snakes all over the place." He inched himself to the door. "You can do this!" He tried to convince himself. He put his paw on the handle again. He gulped and began to breath hard. "Come on!" He screamed at himself.
He flung the door open, seeing the hundreds of snakes moving around. He closed his eyes and started to hum a tune. He took a step forward, his foot crushing a snake. A chill ran up his spine, causing him to open his eyes. It was as if each snake was coming at him to revenge their fallen comrade.
"Damn it!" He yelled as prepared to run. He could get to the door in five seconds easily.
He bolted, slipping and sliding all over the place. He dodged the snakes that came fly towards him. He fell half way to the door. He felt multiple snakes starting to crawl all over him. He began to cry as he felt a sharp pain in his left ankle. One of them had bitten him, and there was no way to tell which one it was. He could be poisoned now and slowly die!
He was ready to give up. He wanted to throw in the towel. But, he couldn't be one of them! "I refuse to be a snake!" He yelled, standing back up. He shook his body like a wet dog, throwing snakes off of him. He took a step forward. His ankle was still killing him. He took another step and another. The door was so close! He took 10 more steps, ignoring the angry snakes.
He was at the wooden door that said exit in paint. He grabbed the handle and to his surprise, it was unlocked. He opened the door and walked out of the snake hallway.
"Ladies and Gentlemen," came the voice of the announcer. "Kobalt Wolf from New Hampshire has conquered his fear!"
The video feed turned black. Snow stared at the screen with a blank look on her face. "That was amazing!" She squealed happily. "I can't wait for next week!" Snow turned off the computer and went to bed.
