(Original) A stranger appears?
#2 of Merging coats
Okay, don't know how this will work out but this was the original of the second part I had typed out before I decided to abandon it. Now I have fiddled a bit with the start and the mating scene, but the rest I have left untouched so what you see is what you get.
A female puma and a young male Jaguar was surrounded, every other means seemingly blocked. Their assailants were humans with their pet hunting dogs as the Jungle burned all around them. They fought for their life, roaring, growling, biting and lunging at their tormentors, bullets whizzing by from the human's hated weapons. Their bodies pierced by the occasional bullet, bleeding and spitting crimson blood, snarling as they fought on.
Amidst the pain and chaos the puma suddenly fell by his side. Her life extinguished along with that of their future cubs. His own life slowly fading, he looked up in despair as their world destroying vehicles approached to run them down. Flattening his ears, Nahuel stood over his mother and gave a last defiant roar before darkness engulfed them.
*
"Nahuel, Nahuel wake up. NAHUEL!" Swiftpaw roared out as a young jaguar, well over his first year, twitched and clawed at the dirt. Ears flat and fangs bared, he seemed in a large amount of pain. Nipping him gently on the ear to rouse him, he woke up with a jump and a cry of fright, looking around with wide, yellow eyes for danger.
Nahuel stared at the beautiful, reddish furred puma he called both his adoptive mother and mate to his cubs developing (he hoped) in her womb before he took a more careful, slower sweep of his surrounds. No jungle on fire, no humans or animals attacking them nor any sight or sound of machinery? "What...?" He mumbled dazedly before he caught Swiftpaws anxious stare. There were just the trees sheltering the jungle floor. Only the sounds of the Jungle could be heard as birds sung and monkeys hooted and hollered in the background. The stench of neither humans nor their machinery could be found in the clean jungle air.
"Oh thank goodness, you worried me there Nahuel. I thought you were sick with the cries you gave out in your sleep," she said in a loving tone, licking at his muzzle and sides. Nahuel returned the lick on her muzzle before she asked softly, "Was it a bad dream?" punctuated with a soft growl and nuzzle as she saw his distressed look.
"A nightmare more like...it was just awful...no. Even words can't begin to describe how bad it was mother," Nahuel said as he took comfort from her warm, living body.
The pair had searched for two days, roaming the jungle and following scents on the air to find a new home, away from the encroaching humans. They finally agreed to rest a while under the shade of a great tree. His mother told him that the tree was a good sign, that it showed they were protected. Nahuel admitted it was a special looking tree, the leaves having an almost paw-like shape to them. Secretly he wondered if it was one of ill omen though as he thought back to his dream.
"Son, you are here with me. We are safe, the humans are miles away from us and there is nothing else in this forest that can challenge us two," Swiftpaw said, putting as much confidence as she could in her voice.
"I know mother, I know," Nahuel sighed, his fur slowly relaxing, having being on end since waking up. "Still...we should get moving soon. There is something about that dream that has me on edge and I rather not see if it comes to pass."
"It was just a dream Nahuel, you will learn not to fear them when you are older and wiser..." Swiftpaw paused as she saw her adopted son's far away expression. He would end up in trouble if he kept distracted for too long.
Just as he lost himself deep in thought, his tail and ears flicking at the horrifying memory of the dream, he felt a paw swat him on the nose, bringing him out of his reverie. "Hey, what the hell was that for?" Nahuel complained, rubbing at his nose.
"You felt that? Good, least you know that is real. Now, unless you wish to wait until they DO catch up with us, shall we be on our way Nahuel?" Swiftpaw said in a chiding tone. Her beautiful, thick furred face turned to him, pink tongue poking out playfully.
Laughing at the puma's playfulness, Nahuel was always astonished as to how alluring she could look. Her reddish furred colouration, the identical black markings on her muzzle and lithe build compared to his stocky, bulky build held so much allure for him. Breed notwithstanding he really felt he could not be with another after her. Though a worry still plagued him as he followed her at a trot behind, how much longer could he resist her heat scent before he gave in again and exposed them?
*
High above the strange feline duo though, a feathered scavenger circled above in lazy circles, looking down with hate filled eyes. "Hmm, so the little cub has grown up all nice and strong huh? And that flea bag is still with them? And there I saw just a bit back some humans hunting. What a terrible turn of events it would be if they were led astray and into the pair," the condor cackled before flapping her wings towards the mountains. "And a bountiful feast for us that are left."
*
The pair of felines trekked through the undergrowth, the pair pausing to take down a monkey or two. Working with Nahuel who distracted the troop of monkeys as they insulted and hollered at them, Swiftpaw stealthily climbed the tree behind them before snapping at one and shoving another to the ground for the large jaguar to snap up. "Hah, those silly monkeys," Nahuel laughed from his mostly devoured primate. His large canines flashed crimson in the filtered light with its blood. "Ooh ooh, ah ah, never get us you cat. Pfft, right," he chuckled before stretching in contentment followed by a grooming session with his tongue.
Swiftpaw couldn't help shaking her head at her adopted son's cockiness. He had reacted with speed and precision but was too prone to letting that get to his head. She had difficulty at reminding herself that he was not yet fully grown, despite their size difference. "Hmm, well yes they do bear similar characteristics to humans, especially their ego and confidence. But remember son, confidence is very good to have, but must be tempered with judgement."
With that, she was suddenly on top of him, Nahuel's eyes widening with surprise and his barbed penis stirred in the furred housing this close to her.
"See now? Just look at how easily I jumped you just then because your guard was down," she purred deeply, giving him a playful lick on the nose. By the feline gods was he ever handsome, that muscular build, the wide, rosette markings and deep yellow fur and that broad head that housed those strong jaws. Swiftpaw knew they had gone past the point of where they could think of each other as just mother and son. But whether from her heat that still raged or their previous mating, or both, he had never looked so alluring and handsome to her.
"Mother...this is not the time," Nahuel said, his voice going lower as he could feel his instincts gearing up. Why did she still have to still be in heat now? But it was no good, the tip of his pink feline cock poked from his sheath, his thoughts began to melt and go hazy from her scent. He tried to clamp his nostrils down but just felt he was suffocating.
"I know this is not the time my handsome son...I know and I am sorry. I have tried holding it at bay. I wanted to mate so many more times with you, tried to help myself but...I need you Nahuel. I need a large, strong male mounting me otherwise I fear I will not be able to keep focussed round you!" She punctuated her sentence with a flex of her claws and a whip of her tail.
"Mother...if it is to help you then I will do so," Nahuel said before startling her as he forcefully overturned her onto her back and let her roll on over. As soon as he had dropped his struggle not to submit to her scent, instincts took over his mind. His emerging penis brushed along her opening before she managed to get out from under him. Snarling at her adoptive son, Swiftpaw raised her rump into the air and raised her tail like a flag of invitation. The scent became intoxicating as it completely encompassed the young Jaguars senses. "Also, it will help me to keep my focus around you," Nahuel rumbled as he started to find speech difficult.
Backing off of her for a moment, he ran his rough tongue from tail hole to vagina, gathering her taste onto his tongue, making the puma shudder in delight. Her mind screamed to be mated. "No, now...mate me now I can't stand-stand it," Swiftpaw pretty much begged as she was teased.
"Isn't the first thing you taught me about hunting to be patient, mother?" Nahuel said teasingly, his growling voice turning deeper with the mating fever running through him, a deep rumble of amusement sounding in his throat as she snarled in frustration at him.
Letting his inherit domination take over, Nahuel dug his claws lightly into her side with a paw to let her know this was on his terms. It had the desired effect as she forgot how young he was and if she wanted, could have had him there and then. Running his tongue over her feline pussy again, he continued upwards to her feline tail-hole, lingering over the anus as he heard her mother pant in pleasure.
His penis by this point was fully erect and demanding attention, but he could also smell Swiftpaws desperation as he could literally feel the heat emanating from her kitty maker. Returning his rough tongue to drag slowly along her pussy, Nahuel found that he was actually getting addicted to her juice. The pungent taste and smell somehow made him want more with each lick as his tail lashed and his laps picked up.
With each and every lick, Swiftpaw would pant louder, growl longer, moan harder as she felt herself teased to the point of insanity. "T-THAT'" IT!!" She cried out as she cracked and in a blue, had whirled around in the opposite direction of his claw on her side and pounced him.
Nahuel didn't even have time to put all four paws to the ground in the time she had jumped him, easily knocking him off-balance and pinning him beneath her form. "You...should know...your place," Swiftpaw growled as she sat on his feline rod.
Crying out, Nahuel could do nothing with his paws pinned outwards by her body as his penis entered her furnace. She was so hot he thought his dick would burn up inside her tight entrance, "Grrrowll, S-Swiftpaw!" Nahuel growled as she laid her back end, plunging him fully inside of her tight entrance.
"There is such a thing Nahuel...as going-too-far!" Swiftpaw growled as she lifted and lowered her end repeatedly onto him. The feeling of those spines on his barbed dick, the sensation of having been worked up into such a state of heat was so overwhelming. And after having held her desire for so long, it felt like nirvana as.
Nahuel wasn't sure he liked this position, of being at her mercy. It wasn't natural but he was more caught with how he felt that familiar sensation of release closing in on him. He looked up at her, the pumas darker furred muzzle hung open as she panted, her thrusts picking up faster and faster before she felt herself come to her climax. "NAHUEL, YES! Raaaowwll!" She cried loud and hard as she reached her peak, her pussy clenching that lovely barbed dick as she felt the spines grip lovingly.
Suddenly, his instinct kicked full into gear as the Jaguar saw his opportunity to retake dominant position of her. Using all his body strength, he managed to overturn her, forcing her to curl her paws to protect them as he pinned her and gripped tight to make her behave by her nape. Thrusting hard for the last time, Nahuel came powerfully in the puma, his seed coming in powerful, hard bursts that would ensure she would become pregnant with his cubs as he roared out his love for her.
Shaking as his young body became consumed with the heat, he came hard inside filling her with his seed as the two felines entwined their slender tails. Nahuel's own roar almost deafening the smaller puma, her ears flattening against her ear holes to block the noise out. The felines shuddered as they came down from their mating frenzy, eyes closed as they basked in the feeling of having being sated with the one they loved before exchanging in a series of tongue baths. "Mum that...that was even better than last time," he panted, his tongue lolling from his muzzle, panting hard from the overload.
"Hmm, that is because experience makes you get better my son. But don't forget," she panted back before twisting round and overturning him. She then wrapped her muzzle round his neck lightly in a dominant fashion. Wincing as the barbs pulled at her soft flesh, she tuned it out and put her muzzle round his neck. "You need to make sure the female is secured, we do like to have our way after all, son," she said through the muzzle full of fur.
Eyes widening, Nahuel struggled to overturn her but the pleasure of being buried inside her and the leverage made it too much of an effort, drained as he was from their mating. "I'll remember that...mother," he growled, a hint of a happy rumble in his voice before nuzzling her neck.
"Well, isn't this a touching sight to see?" a voice suddenly crowed from above them. "Maybe I should have left killing you two so you could give birth to more meat, ah well too late now," a condor crowed from up in a tree.
"I...I know you!" Nahuel growled, his penis softening and slipping out as Swiftpaw got off from him. "Well how is a lousy scavenger like you going to achieve that then? In case you didn't notice I am not so little anymore," Nahuel said with a pointed display of teeth.
"Ahh true, true. But there will be no need when I can peck at my leisure when you are a dead corpse," the condor crowed casually. "And as for you my good puma, say hello to your dear lost cubs when you are part of the food chain," it screeched in laughter.
"YOU!!!! How dare you bring that up, come here and talk from the inside of my STOMACH!"
"Mum wait...hear that?" Nahuel said, placing a strong paw on her rump to keep her still. A sound could be heard, the padding of paws and a distinct stink like that of coyotes they encountered in the mountains. But this carried the smell of humans also.
"Mother...we're surrounded," Nahuel growled, backing off and turning so that they were rump to tail. Eyes peered from the gloom all around them before emerging as one. "Should have known, you stupid mutts, that dumb that you will take orders from a lowly scavenger now?" Nahuel growled lowly, back arching to ready himself.
"No, but your furred pelts we will bring back would make our masters very happy. What's more, we have always being natural enemies you fuzz ball," a large bloodhound mocked, the rest barking in laughter.
"Hold your ground my son!" Swiftpaw snapped as she heard the jaguar growl loud and felt him tense up to attack.
"Son? So that is what you call him? And they call me bird brained. Hey mutts, get a load of these two. See a family resemblance at all?" The condor crowed mockingly to the assembled dogs.
"Wow, what happened to make your son so freakishly different then you puma? Did maybe you misplace your cubs? Or did you perhaps couldn't find a partner due to your pathetic kind being wiped out and stole one from a zoo. You should have left him there, least he wouldn't die," the large bloodhound from before spoke to more jeering cries and barking around them.
"FUCK YOU MUTT!" Swiftpaw roared out as her anger peaked, the advice she gave her son seemingly forgotten as she lunged straight for the one speaking. The pack of dogs erupted onto the feline pair, Nahuel swiping at the four that tried to encircle them, lashing out, snapping his fangs at them and whipping one bloodily in the eye with his strong tail.
Swiftpaw had taken the taunting bloodhound by surprise initially, her muzzle wrapped round his neck as he shoved and dug his claws in to loosen her grip. The other three converged on her rear, the puma's hind paws lashing and shoving to keep them back before one broke past and landed on top of her, breaking her grip with a cry.
"MOTHER!" Nahuel cried in desperation as canine barks and feline growls filled the air. He whipped round with a back lash of his legs at two before pouncing and coming down on the bloodhound trying to get a grip on the thrashing puma's neck. Using all the muscles available in his muzzle, Nahuel puncture the canine's skull. Crying and howling in pain it lurched and thrashed, the dogs death throes throwing him off before the dog fell over, twitching on the ground.
Now freed, Swiftpaw showed why she had the name with an outward lash of claws at the one she had tried to get at initially and was rewarded by a spray of blood and a howl of pain. Backing up so they were tail to tail, the remaining canines encircled them with the condor grinning above. Already a good feast was there just for him with two canines down. And things were just going to get better by the looks of things. "Caw, hope they can take out another few dumb mutts before buying it. Would be nice to have a selection of feline and canine corpses to feast from," the condor crowed to himself as they closed in on the felines.
"Mum...I am sorry I couldn't protect you. If I was only older I might have being able to but..." He stopped as he scented another smell, that of a stench from when he was but a cub. Humans were narrowing onto them, following the racket being kicked up by the barking dogs. Shaking his head, he knew their end was coming, one way or another as he realised with a sinking feeling that his dream had tried warning him of this.
"Son, it is not your fault. If I had killed that damn bird before then this would have never happened. But we have to find a way out Nahuel. We can't let those humans get their paws on us. Not now, not ever!" Swiftpaw growled, desperation clawing at her.
"Fat chance future fur coat!" A bloodhound growled as the remaining six charged at them.
Giving defiant final roars, the pair braced to put up the fight of their lives when a shadow seemed to suddenly sweep on in and swiped two across the eyes with claws. "MOVE!" He roared as he became a savage flurry of claws and teeth, causing a couple to suddenly turn round and cower, legs tucked under their legs.
"Nahuel, up here!" Swiftpaw shouted as she raced towards some mounds that the dogs could not hope to climb, leading to higher ground. As Nahuel leaped from mound to mound, Swiftpaw glanced back to try and catch who had rescued them but he had left, along with the fleeing yelps of the dogs.
Reaching the rise, panting and fur matted in places thanks to the fight with the pack, Nahuel collapsed and let the adrenalin flow out of him. "Just who...or what was that?" The young Jaguar panted heavily, turning with a wince of pain to lap at a bleeding cut at his furred rump, tail twitching with each painful lick.
"I have no idea; he sure was...a wild one though. And such aggression, it seemed almost possessed," Swiftpaw's voice carried a hint of fear with it. It was something Nahuel was not used to and made him wish he was strong enough to protect her as she did when he was a cub.
"Mum...I am a failure. I couldn't protect you and if that stranger had not become involved then we would have both died in the end."
Suddenly, Swiftpaw turned round and swatted him on the side of his muzzle strongly, turning his head with the impact and a look of astonishment replaced his self-pity. "You are still just a mewling cub after all this time Nahuel, yes you are still a juvenile yet and yes you still have a lot to learn, but stop mewling and sulking from it. Let it make you stronger, learn from it. I can't have my cubs born in pride to a mewling weakling you understand that?"
"Mother..." Nahuel said lowly, his eyes downcast in shame and ears back as his tail hung limp between his legs. Shaking his head, as though trying to shake something loose he tried talking in as even of a voice he could "mother...we should move. The humans will be approaching near us soon and we are too vulnerable here."
Nodding in consent, seeing the hurt on his face Swiftpaw stayed silent as she padded after Nahuel back into more jungle. The pair unaware a shadow was keeping a yellow eye on them.
*
Back where the battle had taken place just moments ago, the dog's owners came running to the scene. Stopping in their tracks as they came to the site of the battle, they saw to their shock a more than a few of their dogs injured with three of their numbers dead. Whining and whimpering in pain, they limped up to their owners with blood matting fur. "What did this?" a human asked, a stout, muscular man with a short beard. He them spotted the tell-tale claw marks of a large cat on one. "We should be on the lookout; it seems we may have something unexpected to be weary of. Let's retreat back to camp for now and tomorrow, we will hunt for some very large felines."
After the humans went however, the condor swooped down and began picking at a juicy canine's eye. "Ahh, such a pity they did not get killed. The scene was set; the canines should surely have overpowered just two felines, even large ones. Ah well, best get the first pick before the rest arrive," with that he began tucking in, pulling and gulping a tasty eye back. That preoccupied was she in her meal though, she did not notice a dark shadow approach onto her before she froze, a shadow cast over her.
"So, you were responsible for their near deaths where you? Allow me to thank you, personally!" A flash of white fangs and a strangled squawk, before silence reined over the area once more, the shadow leaving as silently as he came with just a pile of feathers in his wake.
*
The pair of felines pressed on, ears swivelling now and then for a noise out of the ordinary, their noses flaring and eyes vigilant for any sight or scent that could be a threat towards them. The air between them had remained silent with neither feline knowing what to say. They had covered five miles over an hour thanks to panic fuelling them, knowing the humans had almost being upon them and the knowledge they were so close.
Pausing once they were certain there were enough distance and little chance of being found quickly, they finished up at a waterfall. The clear, cool water pooling into an earthy pool but clear enough for them to take a much needed drink from. Raising his dripping muzzle from the water, Nahuel stared at his mother drinking from the pool. The way the ray of light struck her reddish fur, making it seem aflame. Her creamy underside and beautiful, black patterned face as he caught sight of her face between laps. "Mum...are you ashamed of me?" Nahuel said after a length of time.
Pausing, Swiftpaw raised her muzzle to look at him, her hazel eyes bore into his yellow orbs as she seemed to grapple with an inner struggle. Eventually, she sighed and padded next to Nahuel, leaning her smaller frame into him, "No, I am not ashamed at you...just myself. I feel I can't raise you properly; we are of different species after all no matter what we think. Your instincts tell you differently to what I teach you. Your natural habitat is jungle cover and mine is rocky, in the mountains. Things just seem so confused right now with where we stand and then...there is the fact of how we feel for each other. The motherly part wants to protect you and raise you to be strong and independent whereas my maternal side expects you to protect me then leave."
Nahuel's head lowered sadly, he didn't know what to do. She was right; they seemed to be at odds with their instincts. He wished he had someone to tell them both what to do, to help them get out of this maze of confusion. A scent suddenly, carried on the breeze caught their attention. It was that of a feline but...one that somehow seemed familiar to Nahuel. "Mother, do you scent that? Another feline is near but it...smells familiar, let me check it out, please?"
"Nahuel no, this one smells older than you. I don't want you to get injured again, I will come with you," Swiftpaw's voice carrying a note of worry. Her motherly instincts had geared up right away upon scenting another male to defend her cub.
"Mother please...trust me, I will be okay," Nahuel said before brushing against her side, the puma returning with a lick on his ear.
"Please Nahuel...stay safe. And if it seems dangerous you come back okay?" She stared after him, earning just a brief nod from him. Her emotions felt ripped by their situation. There she was telling him she wanted him to be a strong father to their cubs, and next thing she is coddling him.
Glancing back, Nahuel caught site of his mother as she clawed at the ground, digging up the Earth as confusion seemed to war within her "Instincts...why must you torment us so?" Nahuel thought as he tried to look away and centre his thoughts on the stranger at paw.
Shaking his head, he sprung over the gap between the thick trees that left just enough space for them to enter back into the undergrowth. Sniffing around, he swept the wooded area with his keen vision, his keen sight adjusting to the gloom as he padded slowly and silently. Following his nose to the tree, he sniffed and traced a line upwards it. Pausing, he stared in bewilderment as all he could see was dark shadows above but...!!!
A pair of yellow eyes suddenly flashed into existence before leaping from the tree. Nahuel didn't even have time to yowl out a warning as he was pinned with a strong jaw clamped gently around his muzzle to prevent him crying out. "Shhh, I am not going to hurt you Nahuel. So please stay quiet, lest those humans are nearby and we send up an invite for them to come after."
Nahuel's fur relaxed somewhat after the initial shock, but his body remained rigid until he felt the pressure released from his muzzle. He didn't know why, but he trusted this strange black feline. "I thank you for your help stranger, back with the dogs, but who are you and just why did you help us?"
Hearing the suspicion in his voice, the stranger shook his head sadly, "you really don't remember then Nahuel? Well, it is to be expected as we normally don't have anything to do with our cubs. But that has to change I think for our own survival now."
Incomprehension replaced Nahuel's weary look before realisation dawned. "Wait...what are you saying that you are my...dad? But how is that possible?" Nahuel said, backing off with shaky paws from him.
"When you were getting transported to another zoo, I was opted as a possible candidate for a breeding program in another zoo. Since they would be passing by the breeding zoo, they loaded me into one of those thrice blasted small containers. Of course those silly humans thought to give us that needle that makes us drowsy, so it was only when I woke up did I know something had gone wrong. I went frantic Nahuel, humans think us nothing but heartless, thoughtless beasts but I was worried about my mate and her cub. I searched for three days before I heard the news; a large feline had being killed by a large Jungle bear. When I came there was hardly a scrap of flesh left and I knew it had being her. And also, I knew...or thought my son was as good as dead."
At this point he turned his away, as though he had just been clawed as the memory resurfaced to his mind. "Dad...what do I call you? I still don't know your name," Nahuel said, uncertain what to do or say.
"My name...is Nuhal, your mother thought it fitting you should be named like me," he said before trailing off. "You really do smell like her you know? Your mother I mean," he said with an attempt at a happy rumble, but he seemed to have forgotten how to as all that came was a throaty growl.
Suddenly, a brown streak thudded into Nuhal and threw him sideways, "keep your claws off of my son!" A female puma growled, fangs bared in threat at the stranger despite the size difference.
Shaking his head from the impact, Nuhal glared back, exposing his own fangs which seemed unnaturally white against his dark furred face. "Your son? Your son?! You are one seriously mixed up cat if you think he is your son, small cat. I am Nuhal, Nahuel's sire," he growled and tensed himself, ready to back his words with tooth and claw.
Nahuel shook his head, everything had happened so fast it had left him dazed before he recovered his senses. Leaping in between the pair he roared out at the pair of them. "Enough, I don't want either of you fighting and getting hurt! Nuhal, this is my adopted mother Swiftpaw, if it wasn't for her I would have died soon after mo...your mate. She is as much a mother to me as a real one. And Swiftpaw, this is my sire, Nuhal."
A brief pause ensued between the three felines, nothing but the sound of songbirds in the background and chittering of insects before Nuhal broke the silence. "I see...Swiftpaw is it? You certainly suit the name with your speed. I thought you were a mate my cub here had taken on, but then again I think he is a little young to be taking on a mate right now. Look at you Nahuel, you are almost fully grown. I will take you away before it is too late and show you how a real jaguar hunts and lives."
Everything went still suddenly at Nuhal's statement before Swiftpaw and Nahuel roared out "NO!" Swiftpaw reared her hind quarters up and pounced him, attempting to pin the much larger cat but was overturned with an anguished yowl. "He is my cub, I don't care what you are to him I raised him like any mother. You will have to pry him from my cold dead body before I give him up!"
Even though there was a big difference in both strength and size, the large black Jaguar struggled to keep himself free of injury as the red furred puma thrashed and growled aloud. "If you don't stop, I may be forced to do just thaAAA!" he cried as Nahuel slammed the full force of his bulk against him, the dark feline tumbling until he halted and stood swiftly up.
"You may be my sire, but I will never let you lay a claw on my mother...and my mate!"
Glaring at Nahuel, outage became shock before he said in disbelief "your...mate...?"
