The Squirt

Chapter 17

Yatokya felt like a pup who had been put in timeout. Once Tala was reunited with her mother, he and the squirt were sent upstairs to the boy's room. Seleste had asked Yatokya to keep an eye on her son, but Yatokya knew better: they were both in timeout here.

Yatokya and the boy sat in little chairs at a little table. Yatokya hunched awkwardly and squirmed: the chair was meant for a pup and was, therefore, teeny. The boy, however, was also a little too big for his seat and shifted angrily. Looking at him, Yatokya thought he might have been eleven or twelve. He was pretty skinny, but he was _strong._Yatokya had not forgotten that uppercut to his face.

Yatokya sat in an awkward silence with the boy, exchanging glares, as downstairs, Tala argued with her mother. He drummed his fingers on the low table and glanced around the room. There were baskets of toys and a narrow bed, a wicker closet, and a window that opened on the purple dusk. There was colored parchment on the table, as well as a few beads and feathers. Yatokya smiled at the paper birds that swung from the ceiling on hemp braids. He glanced at the boy. So he was a creative soul.

Seeing that Yatokya was watching him, the boy's face screwed up.

Yatokya cleared his throat. "So . . . you're Tala's brother . . ."

"Way to go, Captain Obvious," the boy said at once.

Yatokya stiffened and glared at him. He decided to ignore the sarcasm and try again. He gestured at the paper birds on the ceiling. "Did you make all those? They're beautiful."

The boy's chest heaved. "Look, just because you're married to my sister, doesn't mean we have to like each other! So don't try to get on my good side."

"Do you have a good side?"

The boy's slanted silver eyes narrowed. "Don't fuck with me."

Yatokya looked away. _Yikes._He said patiently, "I would prefer it if we got along, Keme --"

"Don't call me that! That is not my name!" the boy shouted at once.

"Hmm, really?" said Yatokya carefully and pretended to be sincerely surprised. "Because your necklace says otherwise." He frowned at the necklace and pretended to strain to read it.

As if he'd forgotten he was wearing it, the boy's paw went quick to the necklace around his throat and fingered it. He averted his eyes. "It's my father's name . . ." he whispered.

"Your father?" Yatokya asked gently. He tried not to smile: it was working. The boy had calmed down and was talking to him.

"Yes," the boy muttered to the table, suddenly sad. "I've never met him." He looked at Yatokya suspiciously. "Why are you being nice?"

Yatokya's brows went up. "I'm not allowed to be nice?"

"No," the boy said at once. "No one is nice to frost wolves."

"Do I look like a fox?"

"You look like an idiot."

Yatokya sighed. But glancing at the boy again, he realized he had snagged his curiosity. The squirt was watching him, studying him, with his white ears pricked forward. Looking back at him, Yatokya had to wonder what he really looked like. All frost wolves turned white when near the crystals, but underneath . . . their real selves lurked.

"Are you really married to my sister? She doesn't seem to like you," the squirt observed.

Yatokya's chest heaved when he laughed dryly. "You noticed."

"Why doesn't she like you?" the boy pressed, watching Yatokya steadily.

Yatokya leaned his forearms on the table and grinned at the boy. "Because when I was your age, I was a prick just like you."

The boy glowered. "You're still a prick, I'd say."

"Yes, you'd say a lot," Yatokya returned with a laugh. "You don't hesitate at all, do you?"

For the first time, the boy had no sarcastic retort. His long white lashes fanned down, and Yatokya was surprised when he muttered to the table, "I'm sorry."

"So am I. So what's your name, squirt?"

The lashes lifted again and the silver eyes looked at him. "Achai."

"Achai," Yatokya repeated. "I'm Yatokya." He stabbed his finger on a sheet of colored parchment and spun it. "Show me how you make your birds?"

For the first time, Achai smiled. Yatokya watched as the boy took a piece of parchment. He laid it on his palm and gently breathed on it. The parchment folded up at once into the shape of a bird and proceeded to fly around the room.

Yatokya's mouth dropped open. He watched the paper bird's flight for a moment, then cleared his throat and didn't know what to say. Frost wolves did not command that sort of power! Their only power was to heal! What in the world. He looked at the boy with his mouth slightly open.

"What?" the boy said anxiously and his ears flattened - as if he thought Yatokya was going to lecture him . . . or perhaps burn him at the stake.

Yatokya quickly realized that the boy's power was something he had been made to fear. Achai knew he was different and strange and had probably anticipated all along that Yatokya would judge him for it. Already, he was settling back into his bitter anger and sarcasm.

"Going to piss down your tail?" the boy jibbed.

Yatokya drummed his fingers on the table. "How do you . . . command this power?" he asked carefully.

The boy shrugged dismally. "No one knows. Mom is scared all the time. She thinks they'll kill me one day . . . The first time I made a statue come alive and walk through the garden, well . . . the council freaked."

"What else can you do?"

"I can move things with my mind . . . Nah says it's telekick - telekick --" He spit around his fangs as he tried to pronounce the word.

Yatokya smiled. "Telekinesis."

"Yes . . ."

Yatokya looked at the boy curiously. After his travels as a young male, Honiahaka had written an account on all the magical creatures he had encountered, kitsune, shemales, and frost wolves included. Yatokya had read his father's work, and as a result, knew everything there was to know about frost wolves. But this . . . this was unheard of. The foxes probably had every damn reason to be afraid.

"Who is Nah?" Yatokya said as it occurred to him.

"Mom's friend. So you aren't . . ." Achai looked at Yatokya hopefully, ears flat. "You don't think I'm weird? You aren't afraid or anything?"

Yatokya looked at the boy sympathetically. "No. You aren't weird, Achai. Just different. Don't feel bad about yourself because you're different. No one should have to feel that way." Yatokya tried not to wince at the irony of his words: he had done nothing but make Tala feel bad.

Achai was smiling. "Thanks Yataka - Yattata --" He spit around his fangs again as he tried to pronounce Yatokya's name.

Yatokya grinned. "Call me Yato."

Tala couldn't believe it. It was really her mother. She almost hadn't recognized Seleste: her once pale brown fur was now completely white, as was her mane, and her eyes - which used to be such a warm and loving gray - were now a disturbingly pale silver. Her pupils were also vertical slits and her pink nails were so long, they pinched Tala when Seleste suddenly hugged her tight.

It had been twelve years, but Seleste had not aged a day. She still looked like Keme's young bride; she still looked like the young chieftess of the summer, on whom the summer wolves had doted with blind devotion. God, she even smelled the same!

Seleste wept as she held Tala, and Tala just stood there, not holding her mother back. She didn't think she could. Sensing her daughter's stiff anger, Seleste let go. She took a step back, and Tala turned away to see the hurt in her mother's eyes.

But she couldn't help it. She was so . . . angry. Her mother was content to remain here, a slave, never even trying to set herself free, and what was more - she had a child! It was as if she was content to abandon Tala! Content to move on! Ugh! Tala clenched her fists, wanting to break something.

Seleste stood with her paws clasped, watching Tala miserably. She was naked: frost wolves could not wear clothing. "You're beautiful . . . I . . . I can't believe you're my little girl." She sniffed and smiled.

Tala hugged herself. "Who is his father?"

Seleste blinked. "What? Tala . . . Achai is your brother --"

"Who is his father!" Tala almost screamed. She whipped around, stiff with anger.

Seleste's face hardened. "Tala," she said evenly, "there are many things you do not understand --"

"Make me understand!"

"Do not raise your voice to me, girl!" Seleste shouted back with a heave of her breasts. She pointed a long nail at Tala. "I am your mother!"

"No!" Tala shouted at once and her green eyes glittered with sudden tears. "You do not have the _right_to call yourself that!"

Seleste's eyes shone with hurt.

Tala slapped her paw at a nearby table, and all the contents went flying. Sobbing and tearstained, she whirled dramatically and ran to the door. She ripped it open and heard the hinges snap as the door came free in her grip. She was astonished when it flew from her paw and slammed shut again with a terrible bang, whipping her pale mane back from her face.

Tala turned slowly to face the room: Seleste was standing with her paw outstretched, face etched in anger and tears.

". . . you can't keep me here," Tala whispered darkly.

Seleste's eyes narrowed. "Oh, I can't? Sit down!"

Tala screamed softly when a chair flew up behind her, knocking her knees out from under her. She flopped hard on her tail, breasts and mane bouncing, and felt a pinch of pain when she bit her tongue. Tala looked at her mother in amazement. Seleste could move things with her mind!

Still furious, Seleste stood before Tala, as if daring her to get up from the chair. Hiccupping with tears, Tala bowed her head and gripped the armrests. She was still angry. She felt as angry as Seleste looked and wanted to get up and run away. But she knew it was futile.

"I have to wonder why you would bother coming here," Seleste began, "if you think you know everything already. Perhaps just to yell at me and break the furniture? Well, I hate to disappoint you, but I will not be disrespected in my own house, Tala. I would have hoped Keme would have raised you better. Guess he's useless without me."

Tala swallowed hard. "Daddy misses you! You hurt him!"

"Not on purpose, honey," came Seleste's soft voice.

Tala shivered when her mother's small paw touched her mane. She pressed her lashes tight as tears dripped from them, determined to be angry. But she was melting. Her mother's scent was soothing, as it had always been. Seleste's careful strokes continued, and suddenly unable to take it any longer, Tala squeezed the armrests and heard them crack in her paws. Her shoulders shook as she broke down sobbing. With a sad moan, Seleste hugged Tala's cheek to her slender belly. Tala wrapped her arms around her mother, nuzzled against her, and sobbed.

"I m-missed you so m-much . . ."

"Shh," Seleste whispered soothingly, but Tala could hear the sob in her voice. "It's alright, honey . . . Mommy's here now . . . Mommy's here . . ."

"Why did you leave us? You didn't even try! Daddy could have broken the crystals! But instead you went away --!"

"No, honey, I tried. I did try."

Tala sniffed and looked up at her mother. "How?"

Seleste smiled and took Tala by the paw. She led her upstairs, and as they went, she kept glancing at Tala mistily. Tala smiled through her tears, knowing that her mother was thinking of the four-year-old pup she'd left in Iniwa's arms twelve years ago.

They entered a room together and Tala looked around. It was her mother's bedroom. Like the rest of the house, it was tiny. Tiny as a child's room. A narrow bed stood against one wall, with a bedside table, upon which were candles and a brush.

Seleste went to the nightstand and pulled something from the drawer. When she turned to face Tala again, she was holding a crystal shard.

Tala came to her mother and stared at the shard on her palm. It was small enough that it was just the length of an index finger. It was a disturbing blood red in color. When Tala looked at it, a sinister feeling gripped her.

"I took it with me," Seleste explained, "when I left here sixteen years ago, pregnant with you." She smiled into Tala's eyes. "I thought . . ." She frowned. "Your father and I thought that perhaps if I carried a piece of crystal with me, I would not be forced to come back."

"And it didn't work," Tala said miserably.

Seleste shook her head. "No. In fact, it may have forced me to come back sooner. Carrying it eventually made me sick . . . and it gave me new powers."

"Moving things with your mind?"

"Yes. And bringing to life inanimate objects. I can give life! Your brother has the same powers . . . because of this small corrupt crystal." She scowled at the crystal on her palm. "I kept the shard, hoping I could use it to reverse the corruption . . ."

Tala shook her head. "The whole kingdom was corrupted by the crystal that shard came from. Aayan says one day it will be too dangerous to live here."

Seleste's head snapped up. "Aayan? You saw him?"

"He sent me here."

"Where is he! He ran away! Wynn is so distraught!"

"Wynn . . .?"

"His mother . . . your aunt."

Ah. The fox queen of Miras Eii. Tala glowered.

"Don't make that face, Tala," Seleste said, placing the crystal back in the drawer. She slid it shut. "It's because of Wynn that the frost wolves are allowed to live in houses now. Otherwise, we would have met out on the ice. And I doubt your husband would have survived the meeting."

Tala scoffed, choosing to ignore the last remark. "As if it was enough, giving you houses, Mom." She tossed her paws. "You should be free!"

Seleste sighed. "I know, honey." She took Tala by the arm. "Sit down, talk to me," she said, guiding her to the bed. "I want to know about your life!"

They sat on the bed together, and Tala laughed at the girlish twinkling in her mother's silver eyes.

"So?" Seleste said, pushing her white mane behind her ear. "Is Yatokya really that handsome boy who came through the portal with you? My, but he turned out well!"

Tala moaned. "Mom. . ."

"Did you finally marry him? Is he good to you?" Seleste leaned closer and whispered with twinkling eyes, "Is he good in bed!"

Tala blushed bright. "Mom!"

"Alright, alright," laughed Seleste. Her eyes danced over Tala happily and she stroked her mane. "Can you blame me for wanting to know all about my little girl?"

Tala wanted to point out that Seleste hadn't asked about Keme, but she knew better: it was too painful for Seleste to ask.

"Yes, we're married . . ." Tala said, which was technically true: their fathers and the council elders had shaken paws on the deal. The ceremony had only been for show.

Seleste frowned. "You look so miserable when you say that."

Tala fiddled with her fingers. "We don't get along much, Mom. We've never gotten along - you know that."

Seleste smiled slowly. "No, what I remember is finding the two of you asleep together on my throne chair."

Tala closed her eyes and bowed her head, not wanting to hear this.

"What I remember," went on Seleste, "is catching him kissing you - right on the mouth, the brazen little thing!"

Tala laughed softly. Yes. But that was before he saw her penis. After that . . . Tala glanced miserably at her penis, which lay quietly against her thigh. After her many talks with Iko, she had become determined to stop hiding it. At the same time, it was still difficult, letting those feelings of shame go. Feelings she had been harboring for years.

"Tala," Seleste whispered sadly and stroked her daughter's mane, "you and Yatokya will learn to love each other. I promise. Did you think your father was always head over tail for me?"

Tala blinked, startled. "Dad always loved you!" she protested at once. "I'm sure of it!"

Seleste laughed, regarding her daughter in amusement. "One day," she said, "I will tell you the story of how we met, and then I think you will change your mind."

"Can't you tell me now?" Tala wheedled.

Seleste smiled, and Tala knew she sounded like a pup who did not want to go to bed. "No, honey. I must put your brother to bed. He and I must rise with the birds, go out to the ice. And while we are gone tomorrow, I must ask you to stay out of sight and within my home." She sighed. "Until I can figure out what to do with you."

"Why can't I stay here with you?" Tala sulked. "I saw some of the kingdom out the window - it's gorgeous."

"It's too dangerous. There are foxes who would seek to use you. Promise me you will stay in the house!" Her paws gripped Tala's shoulders and she shook her slightly as she hissed, "Promise me!"

Frightened by her mother's sudden urgency, Tala promised.

Seleste regarded her suspiciously a moment but let go. "It is dangerous," Seleste repeated. "No one can know you are here." She rose from the bed. "Come. I must put your brother to bed." She smiled mischievously. "You and Yatokya can share the couch downstairs."

Yatokya was sitting on the couch when Tala came down the stairs alone. He had already put Achai to bed, the boy having fallen asleep as they were playing with his toys on the floor.

Yatokya stared at the front door as Tala came toward him, silently marveling at the damage. Upstairs playing, he and Achai had heard the door slam, but they'd never guessed at the extent of the damage. Hinges were broken, paint was chipped, the wood was splintered, and the gold handle was bent from the super strong grip of Tala's little fingers.

Tala sank on the couch beside Yatokya and he heard her sigh. He looked her over and swallowed hard. She was naked. Completely naked! Before the last few weeks, he never would have counted on seeing her naked so often before they had even consummated their marriage. But now, she was naked all the damn time. It was wonderful. He loved to see her little tits shiver every time she moved . . . or sighed . . . or breathed. God, he hoped she was going to stretch soon. Arms above her head. That would be good.

As they sat in a weary silence, Yatokya stole a glance at Tala's lap. He'd been surprised back at the lake to see her penis out, hanging quietly over her pink pussy lips. It was still out now. He was thinking about licking it when she told him to stop staring.

"Why is the Thing out anyway?" Yatokya said, looking away.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Tala bristle.

"Or aren't you ashamed of it anymore?" he went on, eying her curiously.

"Why are you always so concerned about my penis?" she demanded crossly.

Because it makes me fucking hard, Yatokya thought. He glanced down at his lap and noticed he had stiffened slightly. Fortunately, Tala never looked at his package anyway, so he didn't have to worry about her noticing his slight arousal.

Yatokya cleared his throat. "So how are we going to do this? Will we take turns on the couch? Or I guess I'll sleep on the floor . . ."

Tala said nothing.

Yatokya glanced at her, then sighed loudly. "The hard . . . cold floor . . ."

"Alright, we can share!" Tala snapped.

Yatokya smiled. "Are you a top or a bottom?"

"Shut up."

Tala rose from the couch, allowing Yatokya to stretch out on his back. He opened his arms playfully. She was stiff and angry, but she lay down on top of him. She blushed bright when their cocks touched. Their eyes met, and Yatokya peered at her, wanting to say something. Before he could, she dropped her cheek on his chest and muttered, "Goodnight."

"Goodnight . . . Tala." Yatokya began stroking her mane slowly, soothingly. He saw her frown.

"Stop it . . . why are you doing that?"

Because I love touching you. Yatokya stopped. Uncertain of where to put his paws, he put one on the back of the couch, then after hesitating . . . he put the other on the small of her back. She stiffened.

"Figured it was better than putting it on your ass," Yatokya muttered and didn't remove his paw.

"Yato . . ."

"Where else should I put it? I can put it on your ass if you like."

"Go to sleep."

"Yes, ma'am."

He was glad to feel her cheek bulge against his chest in a smile. It suddenly seemed as if it had been too long since last he'd made her smile. And what was more, she wasn't cursing at him or glaring or any of the other stuff she usually did. Maybe this was their chance to start over . . . to go back to the way they were before that fateful day when he saw her penis for the first time.

"Tala . . ."

"What?" she moaned irritably.

Yatokya took a breath. "I know you don't want this marriage, but I've decided to be like water."

Tala lifted her face, and perching her elbows on his chest, she peered at him. Her breasts were smashed between her arms from the position and he almost got hard. "Yato," she said, ". . . are you drunk?"

Yatokya laughed. "No, just listen to me for a moment."

She blinked at him, listening.

"While I was searching for you, I learned that I should stop . . . resisting - this. Water doesn't resist. If water meets an obstacle, it goes around, or it goes over, or it yields, adapting to the shape of its pot or jug . . ."

Tala shook her head. "What are you resisting?"

"Your jugs."

"What!"

"Tala . . ." He took her paw and her lashes fluttered when he kissed it. "I think we should try to make the best of this marriage and stop resisting."

Tala's cheeks were beet red. "Yato . . . are you in love with me?"

"What!" Yatokya sat up so quickly, Tala practically fell to the floor. She scrambled, and Yatokya caught her by the waist, steadying her. He leaned so close, her back was pressed to the armrest. "Who told you that?"

Tala averted her eyes and bit her lip.

Yatokya seethed. Yanaba! Yanaba had told! He had sworn her to secrecy!

"Not - that it's true," Yatokya stammered, blinking and embarrassed. "I just - have you been talking to Yanaba! Tell me, Tala!" He grabbed her arm, and when she squirmed to get away, her tits trembled. The sight made him stiffen a little more.

"Let go of me, Yato," Tala hissed. "This is foolish!" She threw his paw off. She was still pressed against the armrest, however, with him leaning over her. His thigh was around her hip, and placing his paw on the armrest trapped her in a corner of the couch. She leaned back, avoiding his eye. She was so guilty! Ugh! He was going to have a talk with Yanaba! Assuming they ever escaped Miras Eii alive, he seethed.

"What does it matter?" Tala muttered. "It's not true. You said so yourself."

"No . . ." Yatokya blinked, looking at her neck and the flexing flesh of her collarbone. "No . . . it's not true . . ." He leaned close and kissed her neck. "I don't love you . . ."

"You don't love me," she whispered, turning her head to receive the kisses. Her head fell back as his kisses traveled lower. He bent her back over the armrest, and for the first time, sucked on her shivering little tit. Her lips parted in a moan and he saw her cock stiffen. His did too. He cradled the back of her head and made her look at him, then he kissed her. Passionately.

Suddenly flustered, Tala frowned and pulled her lips away. She dropped her forehead against his and closed her eyes.

"Tala . . ."

She squeezed her eyes shut tighter.

"I do love you . . ."

"No . . ."

"I do . . ."

Yatokya closed his paw on her cock and massaged it slowly, gently. God. Her dick was soft and moist as a pussy! It was thick in his paw, and as always, it carried the scent of her hot sex. He buried another kiss in her neck as his big paw moved up and down her pink erection. Slowly. Firmly. Up and down. Her breasts were heaving. Looking in her helpless green eyes, he realized no one had ever touched her cock like this before.

"You aren't stopping me," he whispered, showering cheek and neck with slow kisses. "Why aren't you stopping me?"

Her eyes squinted up, embarrassed.

He kissed her neck again. "I will do more. . . . if you tell me to."

"Oh, Yato . . . a-ahh . . ."

Her cock flinched in his paw. It squirted and dribbled the tiniest bit, and his own cock swelled in response. He wanted to lick her. So. Badly.

"Tell me to, Tala . . . please."

"I thought you hated it," she whispered miserably. He was astonished by her sudden tear.

"Oh, Tala," he whispered, wiping that tear away, "I love your penis. I think of sucking it . . ." He sighed. "All the damn time."

Tala's fangs flashed in a grimace. She was crying harder.

"Tala!"

"No!" She suddenly slammed him by the neck to the couch - so hard, the wooden legs broke and they banged to the floor.

Yatokya sat up on his elbows. "Tala --!"

"It's not true!" she sobbed, and leaping to her feet, she fled up the stairs.
