Not a Morning Person
Another christmas story for a friend. Some Wolf/Fox Starfox fluff. SFW with implied offscreen nsfw the night before.
Wolf growled as the grating alarm slowly but surely roused him from his sleep. He gradually adjusted to the world of the waking, thoughts and senses coming into focus, but kept his eyes tightly closed in defiance. Off duty, Wolf was not a morning person.
Fox, on the other hand, had already slipped from the bed and was gathering clothes he had tossed to the floor two days before. Wolf sighed as he listened to Fox move around before reaching for the corner of the duvet and pulling it over his head. Their mutual weekend off had seemed so long when he was looking forward to it, but now it was already over.
'Rise and shine," Fox spoke to the vaguely wolf shaped mound on the bed. "I want to get those sheets washed before I have to leave."
Internally Wolf smirked. 'Damn right the sheets need washed' he thought to himself, brimming with inherent canine pride over having marked his territory, in a way. The weekend had been a busy one, mostly confined to the bed. Externally he merely growled again, pulling the covers more tightly around himself. Fox rolled his eyes.
"This is the great Wolf O'Donnell, feared and infamous throughout the galaxy? Be still my heart."
The mound on the bed moved somewhat and Wolf poked his arm out from the confines of the duvet long enough to flip a middle finger in Fox's general direction.
Fox sighed and moved to the bed, lifting the edge of the duvet and crawling beneath it until he reached Wolf and settling down beside him.
"Any way I can coax you out of here?"
"Coffee," Wolf grumbled.
"You know I don't drink it."
"And you know I damn well do. Why've you never got any?"
Fox laughed, reaching over to pat Wolf on the stomach.
"Puppy grumpy in the mornings?" He teased, eliciting a growl from Wolf who quickly swatted his paw away. Fox was the only person in the universe who could privately get away with calling Wolf such a nickname and it was a privilege he was more than happy to abuse.
They laid there together in silence for a moment before Fox moved again, sitting up and intending to return to his morning routine only to be pulled back to bed when Wolf's strong arms wrapped around his waist. He bounced against the mattress, wriggling a little in the hold he only half wanted to break, and felt Wolf close the remaining distance between them on the bed.
"Think I'd let you get away with such disrespect, pup?" Wolf nipped at Fox's neck lightly as he tightened the hold around his waist to pull him closer, enjoying his warmth and reveling in his familiar scent, somewhat mixed with sweat and musk though it was.
"Wolf," Fox protested, "We need to move."
Wolf glanced at the bedside clock. Half an hour before they technically had to go.
"Another twenty five minutes. Forget the damn sheets."
"I want to shower, at least. Not getting on the Great Fox reeking of you."
Wolf grumbled. "Fifteen minutes."
Fox sighed again. It was hard to argue with Wolf, not only because he was more stubborn in the bedroom than the battlefield. Fox wasn't any happier about ending their moment together, they were both acutely aware how rarely they got time to do these things, but he had things to do.
That said, the sheets could wait. Fox stayed here so infrequently it didn't really matter. He did want to shower, but right now with Wolf's warm form enveloping him, muzzle buried in the crook of his neck and nuzzling softly, feeling Wolf's stomach press against his back and breath slightly ruffling his fur with every soft exhalation, Fox found himself unwilling to say no. He liked this. Just being together.
He laid his paws over Wolf's linked around his waist, caressing the fur there. Wolf grinned, kissing at Fox's neck and curling up on the bed to pull him tighter into the embrace, one paw moving from his waist to rub idly at his bare chest and moaning contentedly, causing his chest to rumble pleasantly against Fox's back, who pushed himself back against Wolf's body as best he could, and turned his head to rub his muzzle against Wolf's own.
"Fine. Fifteen more minutes."
