The Bellmaker: Behind the Bushes, Part 3
#13 of Redwall: Behind the Bushes
This is based on The Bellmaker by Brian Jacques. All characters are (c) the author.
At the end, I attempt to associate "The Bellmaker" with "Salamandastron" by making Rawnblade the uncle of Urthstripe, the next Badger Lord.
At Redwall, two rats were guests, Blaggut and Slipp. They had abandoned their ship, the Pearl Queen, when Finnbarr the sea otter took it. There was always the usual amount of caution when creatures normally considered vermin are guests at Redwall. Blaggut had shown to be an exceptionally good rat, as he was kind to the dibbuns and other Redwall residents.
Blaggut and the resident Badger Mother, Mellus, were in the banquet hall enjoying dinner together. When they were finished, Mellus looked affectionally at Blaggut. "Would you like to come to my bed chambers with me?"
"Sure," he said. Blaggut followed Mellus into her bedchambers.
"You're not like other rats," said Mellus. "You're so sweet."
"Why, thank ye," said Blaggut, blushing.
"I haven't had a male in a while," said Mellus, undressing. "Would you like some of this?" She showed him her tender, feminine parts. She touched her large breasts with one arm, and fingered her vagina with the other.
"Wow," said Blaggut. "You're so..."
"Sh-sh," said Mellus, "Just join me in bed."
Blaggut took off his searat garb, and joined Mellus in bed, sporting a massive erection. They began hugging and kissing, and eventually Blaggut's male rathood found it's way into Mellus's vagina. They had sex for several minutes, Blaggut thrusting deep into Mellus until his spooge finally gushed into her. "That was wonderful," said Blaggut.
"It sure was," said Mellus, as they both lay down in bed together. "Let's not tell anyone about this, okay?"
"'Tis our secret, milady," said Blaggut.

Summary of proceeding events in The Bellmaker:
Slipp had tried to attack the dibbuns after he found out they duped him into finding false treasure. Mellus was killed by him defending the dibbuns. Later, Blaggut had killed Slipp in revenge. He returned to Redwall shortly after to let them know about it, being careful not to reveal his relationship with Mellus.

Though Blaggut lived by a stream building boats, he occasionally visited Redwall, and he was the only rat who was welcome there. He decided to revisit Redwall a second time, bringing with him a boat he had built. "Ahoy, Abbot Saxtus," he said as he greeted the abbot.
"Hello to you, Blaggut," Saxtus said. "Anything we can do for you?"
"Actually, there is somethin' I've done for you," said Blaggut. "See that thar boat?" He pointed to a boat on the pond. "I made that just for me mateys 'ere at Redwall. I named it the Mellus."
"That is very thoughtful of you, Blaggut," said Saxtus. "I have a feeling that there has been something going on between you and Mellus, and it's perfectly okay with me."
"Oh, it is?" said Blaggut, quite surprised.
"Oh, indeed," said Saxtus. "When you killed Slipp, it wasn't simply a matter of justice for killing Mellus. There was a good deal of emotion in you when you came back shortly after. More like a passionate revenge."
"Yes, indeed 'twas," said Blaggut, weeping. "She was the only creature who truly loved me."
"Why don't you come inside?" asked Saxtus, showing him the way in.
The Badger Lord Rawnblade from Salamandastron was also visiting Redwall. He saw Saxtus leading Blaggut inside, and said to Abbot Saxtus, "you do realize that's one of the rats that killed Mellus, don't you?"
"He's not the one who did it, Rawnblade," said Saxtus. "This is Blaggut. He's an exceptionally good rat."
"Never met one in my life," said Rawnblade. "But I'll trust you. He looks rather sad." He turned to Blaggut. "Why are you here?"
"I's just deliverin' a boat," said Blaggut. "I named it Mellus."
"My cousin," said Rawnblade. "I came here to pay my respects to her."
"Do you 'ave any other family?" asked Blaggut.
"A sister named Urthrun," said Rawnblade. "She just got married and she's expecting twins, so I'll be an uncle too."
