PART: ONE HUNDRED & THIRTY THREE.
S at in a familiar; stuffy; cramped little cafe two faces could be seen fixated upon a laptop screen showing the challenger Jack Thornten taking on the gym festival challenge, his opponent was some unhealthily thin gym member that seemed to be gesturing offers of perverse favours to him. Ahsoka and Stone faces were dumbfounded by what they were watching live, the video was being live streamed by some one’s phone to the online video hosting site pokétube.
“He’s supposed to be resting, I’m…going to break his legs, I’m going to a four by four between his knees, then I’m going to bring a sledgehammer to them!”
Ahsoka noted in a calm clear voice while the corners of one of her eyes twitched.
“Hold on a second, let’s see how the subject does first, shall we?”
Stone mused in attempt to placate the woman; he knew of her reputation all too well be it from her files to the rumour mill one could easily overhear from other members of team rocket. True such sources of information tended to mere gossip and hearsay, there would always be some degree of fact to be discerned from such sources though only if one can extract fact from the fictional exaggeration.
“Well, his lucario holds promise...well, once it learns how to obey orders that is”
Ahsoka started only to change her opinion mid-sentence as Lucy’s lapse in judgement could be seen on the lap top, both of them nodded approval at Jack decision to remove the steel fighting type from the fight.
“I knew the subjects pokémon where tough…but that!”
Stone winced as he watches Blaze knowingly walk across the crystalised shard of poison with very little display of its effect upon her, yet he was experienced in dealing with tough pokémon to notice the poison taking effect. He was impressed by the blaziken fortitude, both now leaning in so close to the screen that cheek touched cheek, their eyes enthralled to the blur of motions before growing wide when the swallots attack sailed past Blaze and headed directly towards Jack. Ahsoka’s eyes narrowed as resisted the urge to rip the screen half off of the lap top, Stone on the other half was in stunned disbelief that was until seeing the sudden appearance of the gardevoir. Leaning back in his chair he gave a sigh of relief.
“I’ve never seen such a trouble prone individual as that, until now”
Stone grunted feeling completely drained; he could see Jack hobbling off with his pokémon’s aid, they sat there in silence for a moment watching the video come to a stop.
“That’s it…I’m going to kill him…I’m actually going to kill him, I’m going to tie him down, and I’m going to strangle him until he regrets doing the shit he pulls, then I’m going to snap his fucking neck!”
Ahsoka whispered venomously, she deep down she knew she was going to, Maybe slap him about to hopefully knock some sense into him for making her worry so much. A vicious hiss of utter contempt left her tightly clenched teeth. Closing her eyes as she trembled slightly with tightly balled fists, she doubted even that would happen, the more she thought about it the more she understood the true source of her anger, his opponent…the incompetent excuse of a gym member was not just a armature, that she could tolerate to a degree. No, the pathetic excuse of a bag of skin draped on a skeleton was worse than that, much worse. She was sloppy in all the worse ways, believing she deserved praise for being so insufferably inept. It was true Ahsoka was going to have some very harsh words to say to Jack when she saw him next, however that bitch was in desperate need of some much deserved retribution levied upon her.
Watching the woman renown as an ice cold killer, Stone found his hand reaching into his overcoats pocket to feel the reassuring touch of his radio, did he have enough grunts to take her out. Releasing the radio, he forced the thought from his mind as he highly doubted at this moment he could terminate her, he was stronger this true but she had decades of hands on experience. Arceus forgive him but he could not even think of any one with as many kills under their belt as she did, no trying to do that would be an exercise in fatal folly though the question still remained how to stop her from ending the subject’s life.
“Perhaps a stronger drink is order?”
He suggested in the hopes of stave off the impending disaster that seemed to be brewing, a sense of immense relief washed over him for a second time when she agreed to the drink. Drawing out a small pewter flask Stone handed it to the giant of a woman. Watching her take a decent gulp of the potent amber liquid, accepting it back he swaying the flask a little he estimated he had about half of the contents left.
“Mnnn...good stuff”
Ahsoka commented smacking her lips, Stone just smiled taking a sip. He felt the strength of alcohol fil him with a sense of warmth rising up from his gut.
“Should be, it’s drake danials from gala, best whiskey in all the regions”
Taking the flask from his hands, she only took a sip this time as the heat of the whiskey had already begun to creep up on her. The old scar faced man chuckled more out of relief for the situation to have de-escalated , still he could not help but feel sorry for the subject no not subject at least not this one time; he felt pity for Jack stuck between a dysfunction group of dangerous pokémon and a woman that was just as lethal. He offered up a silent pray to Arceus for the invention of hard liquor as well as the fact he still drew breath, more so the latter especially upon seeing the stiff drink having a soothing effect upon the woman.
“Feeling any better?”
Stone dared to ask; his answer came in a long drawn out sigh as she watched the chaos insure after the subject had left with the aid of his pokémon, there was a lot of cries of foul play from the crowd as the gym leader themselves came out to placate the crowd with promises of offering the subject the opportunity of a gym battle.
“Could you imagine him as a grunt?”
Ahsoka chuckled slowly shaking her head slowly as contemplated just how much of a force of utter chaos her truly Jack was, the though of him being a team rocket grunt was utterly ludicrous yet equally hilarious. Stone winced as she slapped him across the back in show of camaraderie, her laughter loud as the alcohol began to take ahold. He made a mental not to place an acquisition for more, the fact it worked as well as it did on her, he doubted the pencil pushers would be a problem.
