Basitin Flirting 101 - Part 1
What happens when a human tries his luck with a Basitin girl? A lot of fun, that's for sure.
Twokinds belongs to Tom Fischbach
The Basitin guardswoman entered the barrack in bad mood. She sat down and was sharpening her blade. Every soldier was smart enough to not get in her way. An hour later, the messenger came and told the enraged woman,
"Corporal Merrison! Sergeant Major of the Army wants to see you!"
The woman sighed, hid the weapon into the holster, and went to the superior's office. She knocked on the door,
"Come in"
Corporal entered and closed the door. The sergeant was taller than standard Basitin but he was still looking like a dwarf compared with the King. He was in the prime of life but many soldiers respected him (after he beat their asses with bare hands). The scars on his face showed he was the veteran.
She saluted and said, "You called me, sir-"
"What did I tell you, Angela?"
"Sorry, Sergeant Olivion. I forgot"
"Good" Old Basitin opened the folder with the current date and started reading,
"In the morning of 15th day of July, Corporal Angela Merrison attacked soldier from Human Empire. The soldier is unconscious as the report of this incident is written. Got anything on your defense?"
"That bastard was flirting with me!"
"And that the reason to beat people?"
"He wanted me to show him my feet!"
"So why didn't you flip him off?!" Olivion hit the desk so hard that his hand left cracks on it,
"We're on Eastern Empire! He should know our laws!"
"Goddamnit, Angela" The anger of the old soldier changed into irritation, "It hasn't been three months since Her Majesty created Ambassador's position. It's obvious that's outsiders don't know our laws. Our allies sent their first garrison and thanks to you, they find us some crazy animals!"
"They shouldn't send them in the first place..." Merrison mumbled,
"What was that?"
"N-Nothing, Sarge"
"I hope so" he sighed, "Listen, I don't want to tell you why it's so important that human soldiers are here, and frankly, I know you won't listen to it" he opened the drawer and picked some papers and started writing on it, "As for your punishment, you will clean up the barrack. Whole barrack. Dismissed"
Angela wanted to smack another person so much but she knew it made things worse. So she nodded and left.
And so, our Basitin spent all day cleaning the military building. It was half-past midnight when she was finishing the punishment. She had to clean the storage room. At that moment, someone said to her,
"I didn't know that Basitons don't need sleep"
Angela turned around and got mad. It was the same human soldier who "flirted" with her earlier in the morning.
"First - Basitins. Second - They need it" she was so pissed at that guy.
"So why are you still working?"
"Because SOMEONE didn't know the rules applicable on the island!" the Basitin shouted, "What do you want?!" I warning you - if you do it again, I smacked you with the mop!"
"Calm down!" he raised his arms to defend himself from the mop attack, "I'm coming in peace! I just want to apologize!"
"...go on" Basitin lower the mop,
"I'm sorry for what happened earlier, it was just a stupid bet"
"Bet?"
"My friends from the squad dared me to flirt with you"
Angela was at a loss of words, "You humans are bigger perverts than Keidrans..."
"You didn't let me finish. Since I won the bet and you took part in it in some way..." he took the bottle of whiskey from the bag, "Here's your reward"
She didn't buy it, "You think I'm gonna forget about everything after one bottle?"
"What do you want from me? To do your job?"
"Of course not! You'll steal something for sure!" but then, she had an idea, "Come to think of it, why not?"
"Wait what?"
"Give me whiskey, here's your mop and go! Chop chop!"
The soldier sighed and grabbed the mop, "What's left?"
"Only the magazine," she said as she took few sips, "Finally, some good alcohol"
"Basitin beer is that bad?"
"As the low-rank soldier, you need beer stamps to buy it. You can obtain them by good job and behavior or you have to be satisfied with Keidran wine"
The human chuckled, "You knocked me down by simple hit. I wasn't your first victim, huh?"
"Yeah, many idiots pissed me off. What's your name?"
"Boris Komorov"
"Angela Merrison" she chugged the rest of the whiskey, "Ahh..." And her mood immediately dropped down. There was no chance for her to get some stamps. She noticed that Boris had a second bootle hidden in the bag.
"Want more?" the soldier asked, "I know that look too much"
"Can I have more?"
"Only one more"
She grabbed another one and saw that there were more, "That's a lot of whiskeys"
"I took the bet with the whole squad. No one believed in me"
Before corporal opened her mouth, he said, "No, you can't take more"
"What, why?!" she protested, "Fifty-fifty is fair"
"You hit me!"
"Because you wanted to show me your feet!"
"C'mon, don't act like you didn't like it!"
At that moment, Angela's face reddened, "Y-You...", she grabbed the empty bottle and throw it at him. Boris ducked and the bottle flew by the window. The loud crash of glass was heard and someone shouted, "Fuck!"
Basitin recognized the voice, "Shit! It's Sarge!"
"Drinking on duty isn't good, you know?"
"Smuggling alcohol also isn't"
"...We should go, now!"
She nodded and left the building before guards showed up. They went the circular route and showed up on the "crime scene". They saw an old Basitin officer who was bleeding.
Boris asked, "Oh Masks, what happened?"
The wounded soldier grunted, "Bah! Someone threw a bottle at me... Ugh, my head..."
He hid the bag with his hand so no one could see what was inside, while Angela come closer, "Are you alright?!"
"Don't worry, Angie. This isn't the first time I'm bleeding and not the last" he got up with the help of corporal and human, "By the way, have you seen anyone suspicious? You were in barrack after all"
She panicked. She couldn't tell that she was aiming at Boris, "I-I finished cleaning an hour ago, sir!"
"For the last time!" he shouted,
"I finished cleaning an hour ago, Sarge!"
"Better... so where were you?"
"I, uh... was..." she was stuttering like she was in military court.
Luckily for her, Boris joined, "We were in the port, sir..."
"Sergeant Olivion. Continue"
"I apologized Angela for that little incident"
"And you're not harmed" veteran smiled, "Good to know that some of you, recruits aren't hotheads and can solve problems peacefully"
Angela felt insulted but he kept herself, "Can you go to the hospital ward, Sarge?"
"I'll be fine, jeez, it's only few drops of blood. Just give me a bandage"
After a few minutes, an injured soldier walked away and the crowd was gone. The Basitin woman could finally sigh with relief,
"Thanks for the help, Boris"
"Thanks for not selling me out"
"Oh, and sorry for that smack. I didn't think I knocked you out"
"Apology accepted. At least I know that I shouldn't pick up a fight with Basitins. Or it's just you?" he said the last words with that smirk.
"Watch it! I have the second bottle left and this time I'm gonna smash it on your head!"
"C'mon, girl I was just joking!"
They laughed and left. Corporal entered the barracks tired as hell but happy. She sat on her bed and drank what was left of the bottle.
"Hey, where did you get that?" someone asked, "There's no way you could buy it"
Angela turned around. It was private Clara Brindan, her best friend,
"It's the apology from the human"
"And you didn't kill him?"
"Why does everyone think like that?!"
"Because you have the same temperament as a firebomb in a volcano"
"Name one example, excluding today"
"In this week, You challenged six people because they insulted you, you threatened to recruit that you'll impale him on the spear if he ever touches your sword, and you almost beat Keidran thief to death. And it's Thursday"
"...I said 'one'."
"So that's why everyone's curious why you didn't smack that human again"
"Because he apologized and gave me a whiskey. Plus, he's..."
"He's what?"
There was a long silence and no answer. Suddenly, Clara realized and started laughing,
"Really?! Him?!"
"What are you-?" the realization hit her too and so the blush, "O-Of course not! Don't b-be ridiculous!"
"Oh, man..." private fell on the ground from laughing.
"Stop it! It's not like that!"
"Give me a break, Angie. You're blushing"
Angela hit her friend with the pillow, "Goodnight, Clara"
Clara knew her too well to not continue this conversation, "Goodnight"
Soldiers went to sleep however, the corporal was awake all night. She couldn't sleep because of the amount of thoughts in her head.
"Great. I have a crush on him"
