Chapter 2
As the Sun rises from the east into the black skies of the night, different sounds and noises start converting the campus. Many students are either heading out with friends before heading to class for their final exams, helping get the stage ready for the Magical Competition Event, etc.
Meanwhile, Shyra had been up since five in the morning, studying to find the perfect spell to cast the last five hours. There were so many options for her to try out and decide which would be enough to blow the judge's mind. At first, she did think about doing a simple fire spell, where Shyra could use other metals in to change the colors of the flames.
"That does sound like a great way to start," said Shyra as she turns the next page to see the list of metals she would be needed for it, "but I would need access to the chemistry room, and the last time I was in there. I kinda caused a bit of an explosion that blow up half the classroom."
Shyra closes the Fire Spell Book with disappointment before moving on the next spell book. After two long hours of searching through pages after pages, and books after books, she soon ginds one on earth bending. The basic steps to being the ground or metal to make something crafty. The only problem with that is it does rely on the user to have complete focus, and if someone like Roderick tries to distract her, it could lead to a complete, catastrophic disaster.
"Find anything useful, Shyra?", asked the Librarian.
Shyra turns around to see an eldermiddle age cheetah, waring her usual black suit and pants. Along with a red tie that goes around her next. Her fur a nice yellowish-gold, with black spots all over. Her eyes are a nice deep grey coloration, with glasses that are designed to help her see color.
Shyra shrugs and answers, "Well, to be far, all of them sounded nice, but they either require alot of focus, or they don't have that mind blowing moment to impress the judges.
"That does sound a bit difficul," admitted the Librarian as she starts stacking up the books that Shyra had finished reading. "But, I'm sure you'll find a way to woo them over. Or, you know, you could always ask your mother or father for advice."
Shyra was taken back a bit and questions, " How do you know about my parents?"
"Well, lets say that I gave them advive for different predicaments that they were in. Your father being worried about being descovered to being human. You're mother well, was basically doing the same thing you were doing. What I said to them will always been the samething I said to you."
"And what would that be? If you don't mind me asking?" asked Shyra as she gives the librarian her full attention.
The Librarian takes a deep breath and answers, "Sometimes, you have to trust yourself, and that no matter what hapens, you gave it your best shot.", she pauses for a moment as the Librarian could tell that Shyra is a lttle comfused and finishes her statement, "Like for example, many years ago, before you were even born. I ended up winning the job by being myself."
"That...ah, still doesn't make any sense," interrupted Shyra.
The Librarian shrugs, "Well, can't blame an old girl for trying." and soon picks up the stacks of books and heads back to her front desk.
Shyra takes one last long look at the final spell book and then pulls out her phone. She goes through her contact list to find her parents' phone number. She paused for a brief moment feeling a bit wierd for calling them for advice. But, soon selects her mother's cell phone number and waited for her to answer the phone.
After a few minutes, she hears her mothere's sweet voice of excitment, "SHYRA! How's my number one magicain daughter doing?"
Shyra coudn't help but smile after hearing her mother's voice again and answers, "I'm doing alright as always mother; final semester is almost here, graduation, and not to mention I'm one of the top students in the Magical and Potion Class, so I'm giong to be participating in the competition."
"Oh baby, that's so amazing that your able to make it so far. I'm so proud of you, seeing and hearing you pushing forward to be successsful in your classes!" responded her mother with joy, "I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job, especially with the competition and whatever future job you put your mind towards."
Shyra wasn't too suprised about her mother mentioning the Magical and Potion Competition. Though, Shyra does know the reason why Shyra joined the class in the first place, was because the Professor offered her a spot in the class. to this day, she still wished she was able to join the college basketball team. While it had taken Shyra a while to get it over it, she had accomplished so many things over the years. Even her boyfriend Rick was shocked, and even stated at times that even he's suprised that she isn't number one in the rankings.
Shyra takes a deep breath and soon asked, "Let's say hypothetically speaking, would you be disappointed if, say like, I ended up elimenated in the first round. Or if I make it to the finals and still ended up not winning the competition."
There was a brief pause that was soon followed up with her mother laughing for a good minute or two. She soon stops to take a breather and answers, "Of course not, trust me when I say this, it's not easy. Even I had to figure out something that the judges hadn't seen. Ah, the good old days, it took me three years to get that one spell right, and I did save it for the finals."
"That's the problem." stated Shyra, "There have been many great finalist, with their signator spells, I don't think I'm going to make it very far."
"Shyra..." interrupted her mother with worry, "I'd wouldn't be mad if you decided not to attend the competition. And don't let Roderick get you either. It's up to you and you alone whether or not what spell to choose or to forfeit. But if you do decide to keep pushing, then all I can say is to give it your best shot.", there was a brief pause and soon finished, "And if you win, it won't matter as long as you're having fun and being safe."
Shyra could help but let a tear form as it slowly goes down her face. She sniffs real hard knowing what her mom said is right. Who cares if she doesn't win, it won't change the fact of how much she'd accomplished through out elementry, middle, high, and college. Its all thanks to the all the people who've been giving her all the motivation to keep moving forward.
Then, an idea soon came to her mind, and asked, "Hey mom, since the event won't be until this comming Monday aftenoon. I was wondering if it will be alright, if I could come home and practice, maybe also preform in front of both you and dad for some feed back to help me improve for the competition?"
Her mother responded with joy and excitment, "Oh course Shyra, you are always welcome to come back home for some help. Plus, I think your father was looking for a few new spell books to bring home for his 'library'. What day will you be arriving?"
"This Thursday evening since our final exams are today, we have the next three to four days off before the competition." answered Shyra.
Her mother couldn't help but ask with curiosity, "Will Rick be joining us as well?"
Shyra could help but smile and answers, "We shall see, since he to would most likely be droping me off. If he's okey with it. If not then I could always fly home. Since he is ranked number one in the class. But if he wants to stay, then if you and dad are fine then yes."
Her mother laughs a bit, "Yeah, I still don't understand the whole cars or other tech stuff for traveling, at least fo us dragons. Well, unless your born wingless, then I may understand, but that's extermely rare." she paused for a moment before saying, "Well, I better let you go, so you can get your exams done."
"Thanks mom, see you tonight, Love you.", was all Shyra said before hanging up her cell phone.
She soon fathered her stuff before putting away all the books in their proper spots on the shelves.
Hours soon go by, and the day continues as usual, which is all Shyra could ever ask. Got to class, take her exams, hear the history about the competition, along with what happened to the rivalry and the motivational speech from Professor Firecracker.
"Now, with that being said, I expect all of you to give it your best, and remember the two rules you are required to follow. No spells that will cause someone or something to go first. In other words, no freezing somone because you want to go first or because you fear that they may have a better spell than you. Also, and this is important, there not to be any pranks while someone is preforming a spell. I don't think I need to explain why, do I?"
Everyone looked at each other for a moment, and then back at the Professor with silence, which was all she needed to hear.
Shyra on the other head, contniues to start at Roderick for a few more seconds, to which Roderick responded by sneakingly giving Shyra the middle finger. But Shyra pretended no to care and turns back around to give the Professor her full on attention.
"Alirhg, you're all dismissed, and may the best magician and potion creator win.", were the Professors final words as everyone starts to get up and gather their supplies.
Shyra remained seated for a good minute or two, that way she can exit without being pushed, shoved, or trampled on in the hallway. As she waits, she couldn't help but think about winning the competition. Not to mention, she had already planned on rubbing it into Rodericks' face as payback. In her eyes, it's a nice way of her saying that she'd finally found something that she's better at than Roderick.
Is it right thing to do? The simple answer would be no, but after years of putting up with Roderick's bullshit, she can't help but at least enjoy the moment. It's been on Shyras' mind for a long time; at times, she even shared it with Rick. To which, he does understands, but would always state that it's better to show some good sportsmentship rather than fuel the fire and have more problems.
However, all she could hear is her name being cheered on by all the students in the class, along with parents standing right besides her. Rick embracing her in a massive hug of gratitude and happiness. The judges handing Shyra the Godlen Spell Book, along with a giant trophy made from copper, silver, and gold in the shape of the first winner of the competition. Rick, Shrya, and her parents all working together in hoisting the trophy up in the air as everyone starts to cheer on her name.
"SHYRA! SHYRA! SHYRA!', were all Shyra could hear in her head as she closes her eyes and enjoying the chanting.
"SHYRA, SHYRA!", her mind soon snaps back into reality to see Professor Firecracker standing by the door.
Shyra couldn't help but blush a bit in embarrassment as she slowly makes her way out of the classroom.
"Day dreaming about you winning again?" asked Professor Firecracker."
Shyra gently smiles before answering with a soft, "Yeah, sorry, I'm just really excited and..."
"Hey, no need to explain, I get it," interupted the Professor as she locks the door, "It's an exciting day for everyone. Plus, it wouldn't be the first time someone started daydreaming about winning the event. You remind me of myself when I was your age. With all the expectations of winning, only to decide to forfiet the competition."
Shyra found it a bit strange and couldn't help but ask, "Why did you forfeit? Your were the very first Raptor...no offense, to master the Fire Breath spell, was nominated seven times student of the month, not to mention you would've crushed anyone in the competition."
Professor Firecraker takes a deep breath and answers, "Its because of my mental condition, if I put to much focus in it, or if the spell is to powerful then I have the tendency to pass out mid cast. But also I wanted to give everyone else fair chance since I already had won two before Skyra Pynthraand Eliese entered the competition. And Skyra was on a roll and kept the winning streak going. Only for it to be snapped by Angala Flamestic on her final year."
"Wait, your telling me that you kept it going for two years, then Mrs. Pynthra for the next three, and my mother ended up snapping the Northern Wyverians winning streak. Talk about karma." said Shyra.
Firecracker nodded, "It was also thanks to both Mrs. Pynthra and well now Mrs. Flarite, that the board decided that the whole rivalry was a bit pointless and decided to combined both of the collages into the one you stand on now."
"So then want's the ponit of the whole competition if no one cares for it now?", asked Shyra in disbelief.
Firecracker quickly answers with a smile, "That's an easy one, to see what the best of the best can do. Some of the students may end up off to some crazy adventures, or go off to live their lives."
Shyra looked down and soon looks back up to the Professor and says, "You know, the only reason why I decided to jion this competition is to get back at Roderick for all the embarrassments, she'd put me through. Now, knowing what my mom and dad had shown me. It's not about who's got the better spell, or how long it takes to get it; it's all about how you use it, and to have fun.
The two of them shared some laughs before going their separte ways. Shyra soon makes her way to her locker, where she keeps all of her spell text and spellbooks in.
"Basem." was all she said as the lock on her lockers starts to shake before unlocking itself. Shyra soon grabs the door handle and started to pull. Only to find out that it's been jammed shut. It was like someone had glued it shut. She begins to pull on it again with all of her strength, unaware that the door was attached to someonthing, right above her head. And with one might pull, she's able to finally get the door open up, only to have a large bucket filled with water to dump right on top of Shyra. The force was so strong, that it kncoked Shyra straigth to the ground.
Dazed and comfused, Shyra sat back up for a minute to figure out what the hell happened to her. That's when she realized that she's completely soaked and her jacket was knocked off a few inches away. Normally it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Only problem was that she's wear her usualy white sunday best shirt. When it gets wet, it basically allows others to see her bra and blue scales. She quickly, without slipping, grabs her jacket to cover herself, not wanting anyone to see, only to see some of them staring at her, with some having their phones out. Shyra then started to feel something boiling deep down, and wanted to shout at them to stop staring. Only for her to hear a small group of girls laughing in the distance.
It was none other than Roderick and two of her friends, Anda and Soiler. Shyra was blushing hard, trying to not only to hold her tears of embarrassment back, but also her inner dragon. So she slowly backs away, only for Anda to cast a spell to turn the water into ice, causing Shyra to fall onto the ground. In response, she keeps her thoughts to herself, as she slowly tries to get on her knees, while also still hearing those three laughing.
"Oh my god, you should've seen the look on your face?" laughs Andra, "You were right Roderick, that was so much easier that we initially thought."
It didn't take long for Rick to hear the comotion and tried to make his way throught the crowd. He could barely see Shyra on the floor, not to mention a bit of smoke raising from her nostrals. Knowing the one thing about dragons in general, and not ot mention Skyra has been struggling to keep it back, Rick tries to run towards the three girls to confront them and help Shyra.
Only, right as he was able to get throught, he sees Shyra pointing at Vira, Anda, and Roderick shouting in rage, "NUDAS, NUDAS, NUDAS!"
The three of them stop their laughing for a bit, and while Roderick couldn't feel any affect because of the ring she was wearing. And and Viral felt something tugging on her clothing. And in single millasecond, both of their clothings were torn off like it was nothing, leaving nothing but their bra and panties on. Roderick could help but be a little wide eyed at the spell that Shyra casted.
Both Anda and Soiler screamed as most of the other college students were laughing as well, seeing a half naked snake and skunk. But it wasn't over, as both of the girls started to feel their bra and panties being pulled. Not wanting to be but naked, they tried to hold onto to what clothes they had left. To the point where they were being lifted up in the air and basically being pulled into a wedgie, with them winzing in pain and are about to lose.
"VESTIMENTUM SUBSIST!!" shouted Roderick breaking the spell, causing the two girls to fall flat on the ground.
It's not that they didn't deserve it, but the fact is that he believes they've been embarrassed enough. As soon as the two girls stayed seated trying to cover as much of themselves as possible. With the only positive is that they can sortof let go of both their bra and panties without fearing that they'll tear off. Rick soon cast a spell that allows their clothing to be back to normal, and handed them to Anda and Soiler. The two half naked girls snatches them and makes a bee line to the women's room to get their clothes back on.
Deep down, he wanted to ask Shyra if she intened to use that spell on him, but from the look on her face staring at Roderick, not to mention a bit of smoke from her nostrals, that wasn't a good time for jokes.
Shyra was about to explode but Rick soon shouts in full force, "WHAT IN THE GOD'S NAME, THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU RODERICK?!"
Roderick puts both of her hands on her head head and answers, "Oh please, it's a bucket of water. It's not like it was going to cause her to melt. Besides, it's nothing more than a harmless prank."
Shyra could take it anymore an screams in fiery and rage that could put a tornado to shame and shots, "YOU CALLED THAT HARMLESS?!!! I MIGHT AS WELL TAKE MY SHIRT OFF, AND HAVE EVERY COLLEGE STUDENT STARE AT ME!"
"Alright Shyra, yesh," says Roderick acting like nothing's wrong, "don't let your anger burn the whole school down. Besides, with that tone of voice what do you think its going to accomplish. To let the whole world to know?"
"How bout both Head and Grandmasters of the College?", growls a new voice.
Everyone soon scattered when they noticed who it was, revealing a very crossed elder Gorilla and Lioness. It was Headmaster Iirlong also known as Silver Back Mage (preatty self sxplanatory), and Grandmaster Nalan whos also known as the Scarlett Witch, because of the clothing she wares. The two of them got finished expectening the stage for the event.
"SHYRA and RODERICK, a word in our office...NOW!", growls Iirlong.
Shyra calms down, as smoke finally started to subside, which was soon replaced by tears after realizing what she had done. Roderick had already starting making her way but couldn't help but whisper in her ear, "You're done for good this time."
Shyra wanted to break into tears, but like a mature adult, she sucks it up and makes her way towards both Iirlong and Nalan office. For this was it; it's Death Row for her, knowing that the one thing she tried to kept herself from doing and that was not only to control her temper, but also not cause anything that may get her in trouble was now comming to life. Rick, feeling tarrable follows right beside her to try and comfert her on the way.
*Well that's that ladies and gentlemen, I hope you enjoyed chapter 2 of Spell Gone Wrong. Up next we get to see what Shyra and Rodericks punished maybe. I would like to know, did Anda and Soiler get what they deserve, do you think Shyra was to hard on them. I would like to know. In the meantime, hope your days' go very well. *
