Chapter 1

As the class comes to an end, Shyra starts putting away al of her spell books and potions, along with all of her supplies, into her assigned cabinet. All nice and tucked in, alphabetized by author, every potion stacked nice and neatly, not to mention lids closed up tightly to prevent any spills. Once that was done, Shyra gathered all of her belongings and headed out towards the hallway.

The hallway is super crowed despite its size, with all the different angles, technology, and other students using various spells to from one room to the next. It's utter chaos for her; going through it was like trying to squeeze yourself through a blender.

Its been almost three years since Shyra, along with her blue anthropomorphic raptor boyfriend Rick Jackxen, joined Wyvernian University. Both of them had different agendas at first; for example. Rick's reason for going was to be able to open his shop filled to the brinks of both potions and spell books that almost anyone could get their hands on. Well, mainly with potions, to which she hopes that he doesn't make the same mistake as his freshmen attempt to make a potion without following the instructions. Seeing him butt naked and covered in goo was an image that Shyra wished she could erase from her memory. At the same time, though, she does still tease Rick about it every time he says " This potion here, will be a grand winner for the competition!"

Shyra is a deep blue-scaled dragoness with a nice c curved horns on both her left and right side of her head. From under nether her neck all the way down to the bottom tip of her tail, and along with her wing membrane is a delightfully bright teal coloration. Her dream at first was to join the women's college basketball team. The only problem was that she was so close to making the team. Only to be out-picked by none other than her arch rival, Roderick Kestral. They had to face each other for the final spot in the team in a one-vs.-one match-up, only to lose to Roderick by a single point. As a result, Shyra was cut from the team. It still to this day hurts her to remember about that moment when her dream was basically ripped away from her. That's when Professor Juniper (Ricks' Professor) Pokeite, invited her to join his Magical/Potion class. Ever since then, Shyra has never looked back and has been on top of her game ever since. She'd even became part of the top ten students, with Rick being in the number one spot. She'd even tease Rick that one day, she'll come on top one day, surpassing him and the whole class. To which he laughs and follows up with a simple, "That'll be the day, and I'll be happy for you no matter what."

That day, is now a week away, for it will be the hundredth anniversary of the Magician and Potion Competition. This event will determine who, among the top ten students in Professor Junipers' class, will be the Champions for the collage year.

Shyra couldn't help but smile as she made her way towards her locker. That's when she decides to take a quick look at the board to see who she may be up against. Deep down, she does hope that Rick will last long enough for them to face off, even if its not the finals.

She soon arrives in the middle of the hallway, still crowded but not as much with classes coming towards the end. There a billboard with all of the post and future events are posted. It didn't take long for her to find her class event, written in bold letters, titled: MONDAY JUNE 7TH 12PM, MAGICAL AND POTION COMPETITION. Underneath it were the ten students in order from ten to first.

She reads as it is written...

  1. Stry Caughment

  2. Anda Contrick

  3. Maquit Trance

  4. Orca Willy

  5. Blue Grady

05 Umbre Catchum

04 Sheen Knewtron

  1. Shyra Flarite

  2. Roderick Pynthra

01: Rick...

"WAIT, WHAT!", snapped Shyra before hearing a familiar female voice, "Well, well, well, look what we got here, girls?"

Shyra closed her eyes for a brief moment before turning around to see none other that her arch rival, Miss. Perfect, dream stealing, making Shyra day miserable, black panther herself, Roderick Pynthra. Of all the students she could've run into, or even see on the top ten list, of course it had to be her.

Roderick walks up right besides Shyra, and she could help but look at the list. A laugh soon escapes her mouth after seeing that once again, Shyra is beneath her.

She takes the list down and speaks, "Well, looks like someone is about to come up short once again. Such a shame."

Shyra didn't respond, knowing that Roderick is trying to get a reaction out of her childish behavior. Roderick then starts waving the list in front of Shyras' face, mocking her, "It's so sad that you've worked so hard, only to come up empty-handed, much like tryouts three years.Tsk, tsk, tsk, such a shame."

Those words were starting to get under Shyras' scales, for Roderick has been a constant problem for her since high school. For what reason, she doesn't know, but in her belief it has to do with the same competition with their mothers going against each other. You see back when the University was split into two separate universities, they were considered bitter rivals when it came to creating magic and potions. Both of them attended the opposite sides of the collages, with Roderick's mother coming on top, three times in a row. According to Shyra's mother, she was only attending the class to keep her GPA up to a perfect 4.0, while Mrs. Pynthra kept trying to find ways to keep herself on top of everyone. Both of them were constantly at odds with each others, with Mrs. Pynthra being more aggressive, while her mother was more passive and took her time to make sure she understood how to cast certain spells. The day soon came, and well, things started out great for the two of them, outperforming all of their competition until they finally met, in the final round. That's when Mrs. Pynthra decided to try to summon an enormous fire storm. Only for the spell to mistakenly burn off her clothes. Leaving nothing but her bra and panties showing, causing her to lose the challenge and her mother won the trophy for the first time.

Hearing the story about their short rivalry does sound both interesting and a bit bizarre. But what happens next is even more crazy, for her mother ended up helping Mrs. Pynthra by summoning a reverse spell too get her clothes back to normal. After that, the two of them became close friends. Something that Shyra wishes Roderick would understand, but no, all she cares about is getting the chance to humiliate her no matter what.

Shyra mind soon snapped back into reality when she suddenly hears a male voice shouting, "Why don't you leave her alone for once, Roderick?"

It was her boyfriend Rick, who recently got out of the football stadium helping setting up the field for the big event. Shyra takes a deep breath and response, with a calm voice, "It's okay, Rick." before turning towards Roderick and snatches the list from her hands and says, "Look, I don't like to bring this up, but since you always like to tease me about my failures, do I need to remind you that it was your mother's god damn fault for trying to cast an advance spell that cost her the competition?"

"Pff, as if," snarled Roderick, "we both know that your mother messed her up by casting that stupid water spell."

"Hey, " butted in Roderick, "in case you haven't notice or even read the papers, it was one of the most difficult spells that anyone could've done. From what Mrs. Flarite had told me it took her the whole year to prefect it."

Roderick lets out a growl before saying in a threatening voice, "I'm sure she did; now move out of my way before I cast another Blueberry spell on the both of you." With that, she shoves both Rick and Shyra out of the way and makes her way to the exit.

"Blueberry Spell', that spell was an experience Shyra wished she could erase from memory for sure. Two years ago, both Rick and Shyra were trying to create a new potion to turn in for homework. According to Professor Juniper, if what they were creating was done right, they not only would they get a solid A+, but also move Shyra up to the top, with Rick not too far behind. This was back; when Rick was the only one at the top, with Roderick not too far behind him. Despite what Roderick has accomplish, she never likes having anyone being better than her, especially if someone is trying to help Shyra move up the ranks.

So, in response, Roderick castes a spell that was meant for Rick. Only then too decided at the last moment to hit, Shyra instead. Shyra started to turn from her usual blues teal coloration, to a deep dark bluish-purple as her whole body began to swell up like a blueberry. Rick didn't even know what the hell was going on, that is until he saw Roderick standing by the door. The two bickered for a moment, as Shyras body started to round out, and swelling up more. So much, that her clothing started to rip off. Scared shitless, Rick orders Roderick to reverse the spell immediately. She tried to pull the whole all of you blame me fore this mess shit. But she soon gave in and soon tries to use the counter-spell. There was one problem, Roderick couldn't remember the counter-spell, in fact she didn't even read how too, according to Rick.

Shyras' then continued to inflate, to the point that she was now butt naked, and her breast were now starting to leak out blueberry juice. That is when you know someone is in trouble because, if not stopped or controlled, someone could easy combust and, well, basically die. It's all thanks to Rick's quick thinking that we abe to not only find the book that had the spell but also find the counter spell to the Blueberry Spell. The only catch was that her entire body remained to this day the deep blue color, and she would've stayed that way, if her father found a spell that would somewhat revert her scales, only the teal blue stripe from her bottom neck to tip of her tail revert to normal, while the rest of her scales remain, to which ended up as scar to remember.

"Hey, are you OK?" asked Rick, knowing Shyras' trigger word.

Her mind soon snaps back and answers with a soft, "Yes, I'm...I'm fine."

She couldn't help but let out a soft sigh of relief, but also a bit of frustration that most wouldn't even know, unless you knew how Shyra handles her feelings. It's not easy being a dragon, especially if your race is known to have issues with temperaments. Not to mention that her family has a history of being famous for not only their magical and craftsmanship but also short fuses. Over time, that fuse seemed to have gone out with every generation. The final dagger was basically her mother and father's first meeting. Which was also when her mother discovered that her father was not a dragon but a human being, it's quite the story. It's after that Shyra does ask them to change to a different subject, not wanting to be embarrassed or know the following detail.

Both Rick and Shyra exited the collage and head straight for his BMX Vehicle. Rick's family of feathered raptors is a to say the least, a strange one. After his father lost his only job he had, both Mr. and Mrs. Jackxen were force to sell their home and lived in s homeless shelter for a few years. Ever since then, they've extermely poor and even after Rick was born. Dispite how many had treated them, that's when both Shyra and Rick first met on Ice Breath Road. Thanks to her father, who at the time was known asa the famous Magician JR K Flarites. Ricks Parents were soon able to work with him and become part of his act, even earned enough money for them to let Rick be able to finish school along with Shyra.

"Sooooo, where should we go before the day 'cums' to an epic end, my scaly sweetheart?" announced Rick

Shyra couldn't help but playfully hitting his left should and responding, "Careful what you say, or I may let loose my inner dragon roar."

"Oh. no" tease Rick as he backs up, "not that, anything but..."

"TOO LATE!" interrupted Shyra as she lets out a loud, "ROOOOOOOAR!'

Rick was shaking a bit and soon answers "Now if that isn't a good example of a dragon's roar, then I don't know what will count."

The two lovebirds laugh for a few seconds as the two of them head into the car. Rick ignites his vehicle and then puts his seat belt on. Shyra soon follows getting in the front passenger side. Once she got her seat belt on, she then pushes a button to put the window down so she can feel the nice cool air, blowing on her face.

They soon arrived at the Scarnet Burget Steakhouse, to which all Shyra could do was smile, know that this was going to be one of those nights. Basically, it is the kind that Rick and Shyra love to do near the end of their college years, and they would go out to eat, and then cap of the day with a celebration.

Hours go by as Shyra and Rick continue to have an enjoyable time at the restraint, primarily talking about all the good times they've had throughout both their high school and college years.

"Oh, no, no, no, if I remember right, you were begging me to help you get out of your so called, gooey situation." said Shyra, trying so hard not to embarrass Rick.

Rick rolls his eyes a bit before saying, "For the last time, it's not goo; it's slime."

"Is there a difference between the two?", teased Shyra as she grabs her glass to take a drink of water.

"As a matter of fact, there's a big difference between them. Texture-wise that is." answered Rick, but before he could finish his answer, Shyra quickly responded with a question, "Oh yeah, name one."

Rick pointed his finger at her for a moment, as if he were ready to give her a good lesson about the difference between goo and slime. The only problem was that he couldn't come up with a good enough answer. This was something Shyra knew how to do all too well. That's winning arguments, whether they had a point of not. Which is something Rick both loved and hated about Shyra. FOr once, all he wanted to do was win an argument with her, but he always ended up cutting himself into a corner and would end up losing said argument. The most difficult part about is that Shyra damn knows well enough to either come up with a good explanation or comes up with a question that would end it. The sad thing is that is so far the only thing Shyra has always come on top of him.

Shyra laughs a bit, before responding with a snarky, "That's that I though; they're the same, end of story."

Rick puts his hands down in defeat, but then quickly states, "Oh no, I had an answer, Shyra; it just left my mind and tongue before I could say anything."

"Sure, you did." teased Shyra before taking another drink and putting her glass down on the table.

"There is a difference; come on now." stated Rick, "It's like saying tendrils and tentacles are the same thing."

"Except one is bigger that the other one, and that's it." answered Shyra.

Rick soon followed up with a excitement"Yeah, but it also depends on the connection, and..."

"Okay, okay, I get the point Rick." interrupted Shyra, not wanting to hear anymore about tendrils or tentacles.

"Sorry," said Rick with a bit of shame, "I forgot you don't like hearing anything about those kinds of things."

Shyra takes a deep breath and answers, "It's fine, really; I know you want to make your point loud and clear. I'm just not a huge fan of anything slimy, gooey tendrils or tentacles. Honestly, the who idea of using them is a little overwhelming for me. However, I guess if that's what others like to us for help or...sex, then that's their call."

"Glad you at least understand; I'm sure there are other spells you could use for the competition that are less...you know, slimy." stated Rick as he purposely winks at her.

She couldn't help but let out a small laugh before asking, "Well, what spell do you intend to cast? Hopefully, nothing too dramitic like the last few attempts."

Rick responded sarcastically, "What, me, too dramatic; what event has given you such a harsh idea?"

"Do you want the shortlist or the long list? Because I can think of many times when you went over the top.", Shyra takes a quick pause and quickly continues before Rick could even respond, "Don't get me wrong, though; when you do them they're with excellent results."

"Well, I don't want to be a brag, but, it's in the family gene, I guess. I'm surprised you decided now of all times you could've joined, why now?", asked Rick as he gets one last look at the menu.

Shyra couldn't help but think about for a good minute or two. Why did she joined is a great question. Was it to finally get back at Roderick after all the years of teasing, and messing with her? TO put her family's name back on the board. Is it because her mother was able to do it in her fnial year, despite how she tough the competition she was up against? It was challenging to give an exacted answer to the question.

She then takes a deep breath and answers "I don't have a good enough answer, but..." Shyra then paused for a mometn to make sure Rick could understand the answer, she is about to give, "I guess it's because..."

Rick puts down the menus, and quickly ask, "Just cause?"

"No, no, no", answered SHyra rather quickly, "I guess it's because I've feared for so long about how competitive it was going to be, that I'm afraid that I'm not going to be able to cast something that the judges haven't already seen in the past hundreds of years"

"Yeah, I know the feeling, " said Rick as he sips his drinks and finishes, "But if I were you, I wouldn't think too much about it. If you start to worry about what they're thinking, things will start to unravel."

"So, do it without thinking about it?" questioned Shyra.

"Exactly," answered Rick happily, "the last thing you want to have happened is a spell to blow up in your face. Who knows, you may end up blowing them away at how awesome you are at it."

Shyra smiles and looks back at the menu, "But what spells should I do, is the main question. It's got to be something good something like..."

"I got it!" interrupted Rick and quickly follow it up with, "Tentacles."

Shyra stares at Rick for a long time, which it didn't take long for the two of them to begin to laugh. Rick soon graps his glass and hold it up for a toast, "Well, a toast to us, for a successful campaign, and may the best magic user win."

Shyra rolls her eyes before picking up her glass and response with a confident, "Here, here." With the following sound of two sounds of their glasses tapping each other, and the two of them took a nice long drink

Hey guys Dragonbreeder123, its been a long time since I did any kind of typing and such. Gone Wrong would be the first attempt of a mini series that I would love to work on in the future. Hopefully this one does well enough. If so then I'll begin working on its follow up. Let me know what you thinkn of it so far and have a nice day.
