Chapter 9: On the Chancellor’s Secret Service - PT II
#
Mick, realizing he was now mistaken, leered Johnathan Flond in rage as he clutched his stinging shoulder. “You could have come up with a much less painful way of executing your flashy entrance, you asshole!”
Flond only chuckled, smirk unchanged. “I trust my second attempt at an introduction had enough, ‘intrigue, style, and pizzaz’ for your tastes, Commander Daniels?”
“Oh, shut up and seal it, John! I better not end up with a burn from that electric fryer in your hands!” Mick finished, using the slang for electric stun weapons as Xen helped him sit up.
“You left me little other choice to grab your attention.” Johnathan said, voice still calm and even with grin unchanged. “I know the film and novel series that revolves around me is viewed by the masses as nothing more than creative fiction, but it serves its purpose. The novels and films are actually covert deterrents to prevent terrorism and corporate espionage.”
“Like giant warning billboards saying ‘don’t be an intergalactic terror, or we’ll send deadly secret agents after you’ that are played in mega-plex theaters and printed in best-selling novels?” Xen questioned.
“Precisely.” Flond answered. “Now, I am here because my branch of office, the GCOC Secret Service, is in need of your assistance, as well as provide for your protection. Both for you, and Ryan Foxmoore.”
Egad walked up, focusing his attention on Johnathan. “What does this concern with me, that I need protection from the GCOC Secret Service?”
“A simple, yet wild discovery we have recently made.” Johnathan said, taking a pause before dropping this new bombshell as he got an e-cigarette from a case on his belt, powering it up and taking a few puffs. “Cailus Foxmoore, your brother, is alive, and he’s after you, your coven, your godson, your life, and everything you hold dear.”
Everyone stood there in stunned silence.
“I sincerely hope this is a bad joke, Mr. Flond.” Egad said flatly. “The issues between me and my brother run deep, if you did not gather that from the Azure Flux incident.”
“Oh, I’m very well aware of the drama and tensions between you and your brother, sir.” Johnathan said. “The tit-for-tat strikes and counter-strikes between the two of you last year leading up to the incident on the Azure Flux have become legend in my field of work. It’s a common topic of study and debate among the analysts, veterans, and scholars of the Secret Service. I also assure you, Mr. Ryan Foxmoore, I am dead serious when I say your brother is alive, and I have evidence to prove my case.”
“Such as?” Egad asked, still bitterly skeptical.
Flond turned to Xen. “Mr. Winchester, would you be so kind as to bring up the latest stock market reports on your tablet?”
Xen, confused but airing on the side of caution, brought up the latest reports.
“Look for stocks relating to military companies. Filter the search to company start-ups that went active in the last nine months.” Flond instructed.
Xen did so. His eyes widened when the report came up. “Uh… Mr. Foxmoore, you and Anthony might want to take a look at this.”
Anthony and Xen looked at the tablet. All sorts of new weapon startup companies had recently gone active, raking in billions in investment money under various different names and brands. However, the recent exchanges and total values of the companies rivaled both Egad’s and Anthony’s companies in value! Worst of all, they all led back to one larger company startup, which controlled all of the smaller ones.
The company name was C.A.I. Incorporated! Worst of all, Anthony recognized some of the stock holders in C.A.I. as some of the old stock holders from his companies that had left after he had taken over!
Egad turned to Flond. “Get in your car, and follow us back to my residence. We can’t discuss any more information about this here in the open.”
Flond nodded. “I’ll meet you there with my boss, Ms. M.”
Egad and the coven all boarded the modified van he had purchased for trips, Chaos taking the driver’s seat as he started the engine. Mick meanwhile, started up the El Nino after Fox, Krystal, and Marcus were inside, Xen firing up his chopper. They noticed Mr. Flond joining up with them shortly after they left the parking lot, Mr. Flond driving an Aston Martin DB-32 Vulcan Vantage.
Jet looked over to Egad, noticing the shocked and worried look on his face. Granted, everyone in the coven was shaken from this bombshell news, but Egad seemed the most shaken.
“Master…” Jet asked, concerned. “If… If your brother is alive, then… Then what are we going to do?”
Egad’s answer only amplified Jet’s anxiety.
“...I honestly don’t know, Jet. I just don’t know.”
