Chapter 3: Star Trek Night
#
Later that evening…
Everyone had just finished dinner, where Egad revealed a new addition he had installed in the lower levels of the castle: A set of Holorooms!
As the coven walked into the first holoroom, it was set up with metallic walls, all aligned to a type of grid.
“So, what is this ‘Holoroom’ used for? I don’t get it…” Uniko asked, puzzled.
Mick then explained. “A holoroom can project nearly any imaginable or known environment using a grid of electric-powered holographic diodes, projecting hard-light energy into patterns of matter. Once the holoroom is shut off, the patterns disappear. It can create a number of realistic simulated environments, ranging from forests, wetlands, industrial complexes, villages… It can even be used to simulate starship command centers. It can produce environments and situations from reality, and if you know how, you can whip up environments or situations from the craziest fiction you can imagine.”
“Indeed.” Egad said. “Now, remember how we had been watching the Star Trek series as of late?”
Everyone nodded, as Galen spoke up. “Yeah. We just finished the last season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It still amazes me how far tech of today mirrors that show, even though I still don’t understand all of it. I’ve wondered what it would be like just to wander the Enterprise-D ever since we watched that series...”
“Well, I figured we could all take a metaphorical dip into the Star Trek universe tonight.” Egad said with a smile. He held out a bag, which was filled with replica TNG Combadges! “These have been tied into the Holoroom systems. How about we re-enact one of those battles of the Enterprise-D?”
Everyone’s eyes lit up with wonder! “Cool! That sounds like fun!” Chaos said.
“Indeed.” Galen said with a smile as Egad handed out the badges. “Now, the only question remains: Which battle should we re-enact?”
Mick thought hard. “...I know it may be a bit of a challenge, but what if we tried to make up our own battle? Since we have two holorooms, I could imagine we could use two different ships?”
Egad smiled. “I like that Idea. What did you have in mind?”
Mick grinned, the gears turning in his mind. “...What if we pitted a Galaxy-X Class Heavy Cruiser and a Prometheus-Class Battleship against a Borg Cube? I wonder if we could get it to crack?”
Zhal raised an eyebrow with a grin. “An interesting challenge. I’ll take you up on that, Mick.”
“Indeed.” Bishop agreed. “Now we just have to divide into two teams for each ship. If Master permits it, I think we should get started…”

Simulation of USS Odin: Battle Bridge – Galaxy-X Class Heavy Cruiser
“Lieutenant Daniels, Evasive Pattern Delta-2! Chief Miwel, re-modulate the shields so they can’t ensnare us again!” Captain Galen shouted from the Captain’s Chair as the Borg Cube started to fire off their shield draining tractor beams!
“Evasive Pattern Delta-2, Confirmed!” Mick said.
“Shields re-modulated to a frequency of 278.3 Megahertz!” Uniko reported from the engineering station. “I’m also programming in a rotating series of random frequencies so that the shields change every three seconds! That should hold them off.”
“Good work, chief!” Galen praised. “Status of the cube, Ensign Jaren?”
“Cube’s systems have been knocked down to 78% interoperability.” Tommy said from the science station across from the Helm. “Looks like we’ve bloodied them up pretty good. Prometheus got in some good hits.”
“Good work, Admiral.” Galen said, referencing Egad’s rank in the simulation. “Fire Phasers, target their cortical node!”
“Recommend that we switch to Upper E.M. Band with phaser frequencies, captain. I also suggest we throw in the Quantum Torpedoes, that will give them more than one thing to process.” Commander Amon Fulbringer recommended.
“Agreed, Commander.” Galen said. “Zarch, light ‘em up! Switch Phasers on Upper E.M. band. Fire with a full spread of Quantum Torpedoes!”
“Firing…” Zarch’s finger glided across the LCARS console that controlled the weapons systems, as the viewscreen lit up with Phaser and Quantum Torpedo fire.
It was then that Tommy sounded the alarm! “Captain! I’m reading an energy spike in the Cube’s power grid! It appears they are diverting all available power to their regeneration systems… There’s also an incoming hail from the Prometheus. I’m patching it in.”
Admrial Egad then appeared on the screen. “Odin, are your sensors reading what ours are reading?”
“They are.” Captain Galen reported. “They’re pouring all available power into their regeneration systems.”
“Then I think it’s time we took it up a notch, Captain.” Egad said. “Initiate Saucer Separation, place the Saucer under computer control, and encrypt the control frequency. I’m putting the Prometheus into Multi-Vector Assault Mode. It’ll give them more to worry about, and let us dish out more damage. Prometheus out!”
“Alright, let’s do it!” Galen commanded. “Chief, initiate Saucer Separation, link control to scrambler frequency Epsilon-7!”
“Linking Saucer Section with Epsilon-7 control frequency.” Uniko reported. “Saucer Separation initiated.”
The viewscreen then switched to the view outside the bridge of the Stardrive section. The Saucer Section completed separation, and flew off from the Stardrive in an evasive pattern, attacking the cube with both Phasers and Torpedoes! They also saw the Prometheus complete it’s separation into the Multi-Vector Assault Mode, swarming the cube as it fired it’s weapons!
“Separation complete! I’m remotely controlling the Saucer section from Science Station 1.” Lieutenant Zhal Sha-Len reported.
“Fire at will, attack pattern Beta-5!” Galen ordered.
The Stardrive then began to pummel the cube with it’s Phasers while unloading with Quantum Torpedoes, joining in the assault!
“Sir, I’m reading power spikes from the cube.” Tommy reported. “Their power nodes are starting to fluctuate… I think we are looking at a self-destruct sequence!”
“Back us off!” Galen ordered. “Shields at maximum!”
All of the ships rapidly distanced from the cube as it suddenly exploded, sending a wave of energy and debris at all the ships! The stardrive section of the Odin rocked hard to starboard, then everything calmed down.
“...We did it, Captain!” Tommy said with a smile. “The Borg Cube has been destroyed. Just in time, too. Since it passed the Mars Perimeter, we only had about 0.35 astronomical units left between us and Earth.”
“So we saved the Federation. Good.” Galen purred.
“Hurrah!” Amon agreed.
“Indeed.” Uniko agreed. “But don’t you think this would have been a bit more realistic if we wore Starfleet uniforms, rather than our usual slave attire?”
“I didn’t say that everything had to be exact.” Mick said with a smile. “Besides, this is more fun. More… Expressive. Exotic.”
Uniko chuckled. “I see your point.”
