Micro May Day 25: Final Act

This story's prompt was: A play with a twist. A very special showing of a well known play takes place.
It was the final act, The hero and the villain were facing off, a showdown for the ages. The stage was set to be a mad doctor's lab.
"Stop Doctor Despicable! I've come to put an end to your madness!" A strong lion man proclaimed loudly. Dressed like a superhero.
"Never! Soon the whole world will bow to me when the shrink cannon is fully charged. Now you will get a little taste of it!" A wolf man replied, hunched over in a lab coat.
The Doctor shot beams of light while the hero avoided the attacks.
"I can't keep doing this forever. Maybe if there was some way to turn the tide." He looks around and spots something reflective.
He dashes over it and holds it up, waiting to deflect the next shot back at him.
The Doctor avoided the clear mirror and hit the lion, causing him to shrink.
"You are mine now, hero!" He lets out an evil laugh and fishes him out of his clothes, the tiny lion quickly covering his junk after seeing he was naked in front of the crowd.
The curtain falls, and the audience is a little confused.
"Was that a real shrink ray?" One person asks.
"Is that the ending? What happened?" Another asked.
Murmurs in the crowd keep happening as most people didn't see that sudden ending coming. Was this how it always went? People wondered aloud.

Backstage, some people were talking.
"This isn't how the play normally goes. What happened this time." The director asks.
"I don't know, maybe it was the new actor?" Someone else responds.
"New actor? We didn't hire any new actors, I-"
A door bursts open and another wolf comes in. "Sorry I'm late, something came up." The man that was meant to play the Doctor says The crew looks at him confused and stunned.
"Oops." Is all the stagehand could say.
