The Chronicles of B and Geno: Chapter Zero

Digidestiny Awaits!

(Mature Advisory: Bad Words)

The doors of the Battle Fitness gym opened. A cacophony of white, gray, and cream-colored floor tiles and walls made up the gym. Visitors would feel refreshing, cool air conditioning the second they entered. Standing within the lobby of the gym was an attractive Gaomon with bright green eyes, twenty-three years of age. He wore a black tank top, off-black shorts with white stripes down the sides, and stylish black and white sneakers with white socks. His fur was the same as a traditional Gaomon, with a yellow diamond marking on his forehead, with ears that were floppy and white inside. He had an athletic, toned body with a balanced amount of muscle, which he seemed to groom his fur well. The headband, which was characteristic of his kind, was missing.

He crossed his arms, looked around, and smirked.

“Ah yeah! This is happening!” Overjoyed at the sight before him.

Someone heard him. A Machgaogamon entered the room. He is tall, muscular, shirtless, and wearing standard black-and-white striped shorts. He grinned and waved to the Gaomon.

“Well, I’ll be! Good mornin’ to ya, Geno! We were expectin’ ya!” the Machgaogamon with a thick Scottish accent said.

“You must be Finn! I heard about ya from your website!” Geno said in his deep, eccentric, handsome voice.

“Great! Your manager told us you were headin’ here. You’ve got a big training regimen comin’ round the bend.” Finn said.

“Oh yeah! I’ve got kickboxing matches here soon. I discovered there’s a new gym opening, so I had to try it! Heard there’re many training rooms. Just the thought of it gets me all excited!” Geno said, bouncing and waving his arms around.

“Perhaps ye be wantin’ a tour?”

“Oh, no need! I watched the virtual tour! Whoever made it was a genius, like certain friends of mine.”

“Knowing your status, I’m sure ye’ know a lot of smart people.”

“Of course I do! I am the son of the legendary heroes of old, Roy and Julian! Or, as I like to call them: Papa and Dad! They’re the best parents a Gaogao could ever have! They helped inspire me to chase my dreams. I’m a kickboxing prodigy and a hero in the making.”

“And how goes the hero work?”

“Oh, you know…putting big bads in jail. Preventing our worlds against super powerful evil doers. I’m only like…the greatest hero ever.” Geno said, waving a hand and looking rather sassy and cocky.

“I beg ye pardon?” Finn placed a hand over his face and snickered. “You must be pullin’ mah leg, lad. You lookin’ like a rookie at best.”

Geno lowered his head and sighed. “Okay…you got me. I’m joshing you. You’re right…I am a newb. All I do is help old ladies cross the street and rescue cats from trees. Every once in a while, I’ll stop thieves and fight street thugs. Although if I keep up the good work, they’ll allow me to stop kidnappings and defuse bombs, among other things. I know I have what it takes to do it, but I've gotta work my butt off in order to meet the right qualifications, if you catch my drift.” Geno said.

“Hehe! That’s what I thought. Ye be a little squirt. You’re not ready for the big leagues…at least not yet.” Finn said, smirking and nodding. “What organization are you workin’ for?”

“The Armed Rescue Forces.” Geno said.

“Ah! I recognize it. So you went to the academy and joined its ranks? Well, bloody hell…that’s an honor.”

“Thanks! I went to two different schools. Kickboxing and hero school. I worked hard to get where I am now. I’m thrilled and satisfied with the direction my life is heading. I expect it only to keep getting better from here!”

“I know you’ll make it far. Keep up the good work. I’ll be rootin’ for ya!” Finn said with a smile, thumbs up, and wink.

“Thank you! I hope you keep being the best workout trainer guy!” Geno said, smiling and winking.

“I be a weightlifter.”

“That’s what I meant!” Geno said, grinning and holding his arms out.

“My goodness…you are somethin’ else, I tell ya.” Finn snickered. “How’d you like to start yer trainin’, lad?”

“Normal and Digimon training rooms, please.” Geno said.

“Right this way!” Finn said.

He took Geno to the normal training room. It was full of standard equipment. The room ranged from dumbbells, ellipticals, treadmills, punching bags, and more.

“Great way to start! I think I’ll start with the punching bag!” he said, punching his fists together, before his ears twitched. He heard two men walking near the break room. “Oh, wait a second…I wanna meet Warren! I’ve heard great things about him. I just gotta talk to him. Papa thinks he’s so cool, and so do I,” Geno said, turning around and leaving for the break room.

Finn smirked and sweated a little. “Wait for me, laddie!”

Finn followed him, entering the break room. Inside was what you’d expect: refrigerators, snack machines, microwaves, water dispensers, a coffee machine, speakers, a TV, tables, and seats, all colored and themed like the rest of the gym. Geno sat down in one seat and waited for Warren to arrive. Finn popped in and sat next to him.

“Boy, if you keep runnin’ around like that, I’ll have to glue yer butt to a chair! Ye squirmy little thing!” Finn teased.

“I can’t help that I’m a lovable bundle of energy! I’m livin’ large and high on life! That’s me: Geno!” Geno said, smirking.

“Yes! Ye be Geno! Ta one and on’leh!”

“Yop yop!” Geno wiggled in his seat. The voices approached, and both fell silent.

“Wanna go to the break room? I can make you some coffee and snacks?” A delightful, British voice said.

“That would be nice. Thank you.” A northwestern accented voice rang.

In walked two individuals. One was a Weregarurumon: Warren Strong.

The Weregarurumon’s dark mauve and lavender pattern was eye-catching, the silky soft fur shining as it glistened from the lamp above. His build and stature made him much more imposing to observe.

He wore a black tank top with a rounded, blue, swirling insignia, and standard gym shorts hung over his girthy shape. He filled his clothes with his well-developed figure. His masculinity was clear in his facial features. He has a sharp mawline and high cheekbones positioned with a prominent brow bone framed by his violet eyes. Thin, square-framed eyeglasses, which made him appear sterner, concealed his eyes.

Then there was a blue-eyed silver fox. A purple button-up shirt and blue jeans adorned his foxy figure. Unlike Warren, he was rather thin in comparison. The two waved and greeted Geno.

“Greetings. You must be the world-famous kickboxer and rising hero Geno, right? We’ve been expecting you.” Warren said.

“Hi! Yes, that would be me! You must be Warren! The former pro wrestler from London! It’s a pleasure to meet you!” Geno said, eyeing the fox. “Oh hello! Are you Warren’s tamer? What’s your name?”

He snickered at the silly Gaomon and his assumptions. “No, I’m not his tamer. Just his roommate. I’m Domafox. Nice to meet ya. I recognize ya from the pro kickboxing matches. Became the best kickboxer in the world yet?” Doma cracked.

“You must have, seeing as you have proclaimed to be the best fighter and hero in the multiverse.” Warren chuckled.

“Hey now! That’s not accurate. I’m not the best in the multiverse... yet. I wish I were…but nope! There’s a long road ahead of me. I’m still the best kickboxer in the world! Hehehe!” Geno snickered and smiled.

Finn comes up behind Geno and places his hands on his shoulders. “I am afraid ye’ are not worthy of such a title, lad. Don’t be dafty. That title belongs to Linus Barclay!” he grins and crosses his arms. “Ye’ only be top ten best in the world, laddie. As they say in Scotland: It’s a sair ficht for half a loaf! Lookin’ forward to the day when ye’ topple the best…if ye ever can. Hahaha!”

Geno shot out his chair and pointed at him, gritting his teeth. “Just watch me, Finn! I will get stronger and claim the title that belongs to me! I’m one of the best kickboxers in the world and a great hero!”

“We both are pure-hearted warriors. Ye’ still are not the best kickboxer. You’re not the strongest warrior in the multiverse. You gallus braw! Hahaha!” Finn said.

“Yes, we are!” Geno paused before realizing the last part he said. “What’s a gallus braw? Uh…I’ll make you eat those words! Do you think you’re stronger than me? I will surpass you! You’ll see! Mwahahahaaha!” Geno laughed like an evil Saturday morning cartoon villain in a dorky, playful manner, before both he and Finn got a good laugh out of it.

Finn laughs his butt off. “Gie it laldy!”

“Hehe…so what brings you here, Geno?” Doma said.

“My next kickboxing match is coming up here in town soon. This is a solid training spot! My manager informed me about Battle Fitness. I jumped at the opportunity. It’s nice to meet you, Warren and Domafox.” Geno said, grinning.

“Of course. We’re all friends here.” Warren said.

“I viewed a virtual tour before I got here. It’s awesome! The only thing grinding my gears is the lycan training room. It’s under construction, yes? I’ll hook you up with my Papa. He knows everything there is to know about lycan stuff.” Geno said.

“Oh yes, Roy! I’ve heard of him. The pro baseball player for the New York Yankees and one of the legendary heroes of old. I would appreciate his help.”

“Good! He’s excited to come by and help you all. He’s busy with baseball stuff, but he should be free next weekend.” Geno gave Roy’s contact info to Warren.

“Much appreciated.” He said before he felt a buzzing sensation in his pocket. “Hm?”

“What’s up, Warren?” Doma said.

Warren looked at Geno. “Geno, come with me. There’s something important I need to give you.”

Geno tilted his head, then straightened it and nodded. “Show me.”

Warren took Geno deep into the locker room and sat on a bench. He felt around in his right pocket before retrieving a peculiar object. Geno’s eyes lit up as it reacted to his presence.

“Is that…half a Digivice iC? It looks so old and rusty.”

He hesitated for a moment before relenting. “Goodbye…old friend.” He whispered before reaching a hand out to Geno. “Open your hand.” Warren said, trying to hold back tears.

Geno fell silent and nodded. He opened his left hand before Warren dropped the device into it. Upon touching it, the room illuminated, almost blinding them. They had to shield their eyes until the light cleared. When their vision cleared, Geno saw half a sprite icon of himself. The Gaomon looked up at Warren, jaw agape, amazed.

“No way…this is mine?” Geno observed it before gazing at Warren. “But how?”

Warren closed his eyes, drooped his shoulders, and sighed. “An old friend’s family had it in their possession for many generations. Nobody knew its origin, so they treated it as a family heirloom. No one knew what it was. When it came into the hands of scientists, they discovered it’s an ancient Digivice. Because of a strange, dark energy, the origin of the device was impossible to trace. Whoever or whatever split it did tremendous work to make tracing its history impossible. It is a bizarre predicament. My friend received it as a good luck charm because the scientists could do nothing else. My friend held onto it until…” Warren paused.

“Warren?”

“Oh! Er…until he gave it to me. Then I held onto it, hoping to uncover the mysteries behind it on my own. I think after meeting you here today, I solved a part of that mystery. This ties to you, and most certainly to someone else. Someone has the second half. It is your mission to find them. I am positive the person in question is your tamer. Find your tamer, uncover the mysteries behind the Digivice, and become Digidestined!” Warren said, smiling.

Geno held the Digivice to his heart, closed his eyes, and felt elated. “I’m gonna be the very best…like no one ever was.” He leapt. “Yahoo! I will become Digidestined someday! Oh, my goodness! I can’t wait to find my tamer! This is one of the greatest days of my life!” Geno said, grabbing Warren’s hands and shaking them, wagging his tail like crazy. “Thank you, Warren! Thank you, thank you, thank yoooooou! I’ve always dreamed of having a tamer! Because of you, I’m one huge step closer to achieving it! I’m gonna be searching far and wide for my tamer! I know it’s my destiny! Our destiny!” Geno said, closing his eyes and smirking. “I’ll find you, tamer…when that day comes…it will be glorious!”

“Why…I am thrilled! To find a tamer of your own…it’s one of the greatest dreams a Digimon can attain. I look forward to seeing the day you find them.” Warren said.

Surprise caught Warren in Geno’s hug. He embraced him and kept on wagging his tail. “Oooohhh…you’re the best, Warren. You know what? We’re friends now. Please, if you will…give me your socials.” Geno said, before backing off and blushing. “But, er…only if you want to. I know I’m kind of jumping the gun here. Hey! I’m just thrilled and excited here! Hard to contain it, ya know?” He giggled and rubbed the back of his head.

“We are on the same wavelength. After our special moment together, we’re already friends. Let’s exchange socials.” Warren said, pulling out his phone.

Geno pulled out his phone and exchanged information. “Oh, and give me Doma’s too. In fact, I’ll get the contact info of everyone here!”

Warren gave a hearty chuckle. “Of course!” He gave Geno the contact information of everyone here.

“Thanks! You’re the best, Warren! We have much to discuss, lots to do, and plenty to plan.” Geno said.

“Slow down. We just met, you silly puppy. Let’s learn about each other first.”

“Great! It’s what’s required in a real friendship. No superficial nonsense here, so I hope.” Geno said.

“There’s nothing superficial about me or anyone else here for that matter.” Warren said.

“Wonderful! I’m holding you to it!” Geno said, Warren rising after that.

“You have nothing to worry about. We’re as genuine as can be.” Warren said.

“Excellent!” Geno said, grinning and giving a thumbs-up. “Y’all might be my first real friends.”

“Perhaps you can explain more in due time?” Warren said.

“Eventually, yeah.” Geno said.

They returned to the break room. Geno gripped his Digivice and hugged Warren. “I’ll see you later, Warren. Got a lot of training to do. Bye bye! Hehe!”

“Farewell, Geno!” Warren smirked before Geno ran off into the regular training room.

Finn was waiting by the punching bag for Geno. “How did it go?”

“Great! I’m gonna be Digidestined soon!” He said, flashing the ancient Digivice.

“Well, I’ll be! Congrats lad!” Finn said, grinning.

“Thanks! I’ve got big dreams waiting for me to achieve! It’s all thanks to Warren that this is possible.” Geno grinned, punching the bag quick and hard.

“I didn’t take Warren for a miracle maker.” Finn said.

“Oh yeah! He totally did. Dude changed my life!” Geno smirked, getting more passionate with his punches.

“I’m gonna have ta’ thank em’ for it.” Finn said.

“You should! He deserves all the praise he can get!” Geno said, kicking the punching bag.

Finn stood by and observed Geno’s skill on display. During his training, a question came to mind.

“You know, lad…I’m surprised ye’ aren’t like me. You have the strength and skill to unlock Natural Digivolution. How come ye haven’t naturally Digivolved by now?” Finn pondered.

Geno caught his breath. “Because I can’t!” he said, Finn perplexed by this.

“How? Ye’ should be able ta’.”

“Nah…It’s because of a genetic mutation in both my physical DNA and Digicode. It’s not harmful, but it stunts my growth. It’s still possible for me to Digivolve through the power of a tamer and Digivice, albeit temporarily.” He said, walking to a mirror, admiring himself. “There’s friends of the family who’re researching my genes to discover the finer details behind my mutation. They theorize that this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’ll lead to something big. They don’t know what it is yet. I’m eager to discover what that might be!” he said, smirking and flexing his muscles. “Heck, even if I could become a MachGaogamon like you…in all honesty…I love being a Gaomon. I’ve accepted who I am, and how I’ll remain. That’s me: Geno the blueberry puppo!” He said, dabbing in front of the mirror.

Finn cracked up, but smiled and blushed. “Fascinating…I don’t believe you are ta’ only one with mutations. Keep being you.” He said before pointing to his bare chest. “But hold it now! Am I not a blueberry puppo to ya?”

“Of course you are! We’re the blueberry puppos!” Geno said, smirking and giving him a thumbs up.

“Hahaha! Good! We are like kindred spirits after all. Same evolution line and everything. I was once a Gaomon myself, but that was ages ago.”

“That much is clear.” Geno said, going to the weights. “Alright, Finn…let’s pump some iron!”

Geno lifted the weights with zero effort, amusing Finn. Geno trained till the day concluded. Later, he hit the locker room showers, taking an extra-long shower, before drying off, dressing up, and leaving the gym with his bags and towel over his shoulder. He turned to Warren and Finn, bidding them farewell before departing the gym.

Five years later…

Geno sat against the orange Ford truck of his kickboxing manager. His manager was making a quick call before he was to return to having his last words with Geno about a future event. The now twenty-eight-year-old Gaomon leaned against the truck, tapping his foot. He observed the beautiful night sky, town lights, and mountainous scenery surrounding him. Geno leaned against the truck, sighed, and slid down slightly. He adjusted his bright red and white vest and stylish ripped dark blue jeans before shuffling his red and white sneakers with white socks.

Then it happened…his Digivice went off, and his inner Digimon wavelengths triggered strongly within him. Geno jumped up and looked around frantically. He saw a green Volkswagen Beetle drive past him. He glimpsed a male, twin-tailed fox driving past him. Geno pointed his finger at the car.

“You!” he shouted. “I found you, tamer!” Geno, lifting a foot to take off, before he heard the truck door slam. “... Shit! I’ve gotta go, but I’ve gotta finish business first.”

Geno’s manager spoke with him about a date for a future kickboxing match, followed by details of who he is up against, training dates, and so on. Geno was about to jump out of his pants, trying hard not to rush the guy. The manager realized Geno was in a hurry when he explained his future tamer was driving by. He showed him the active half of the Digivice, getting his manager to realize the importance of this. The manager told him he wouldn’t hold him up anymore, and to go get him. He apologized for making him wait and drove him to where he needed to go. Using his wavelengths, he sensed him somewhere in a mountainous forest off one of the hiking trails near town.

They arrived at the trail entrance. Geno thanked his manager and then took off up the trail after his future tamer.

“I’ve waited five years for this. The day of our Digidestiny has arrived. I’m coming for you, foxy!” Geno said as he dashed up the mountain trail in pursuit of the fox.
