#12 of A Slice Of Lexi

Lexi and Victoria attempt to have a good day before class starts. Someone has to come along and try and ruin it.

Warning: This chapter includes some really harsh words...

Lexi's dad was alive until Lexi was sixteen, at which point he died of a heart attack. It is important, for this chapter, to remember that Lexi did not attend Sam Hill High School. She attended Arlington High. Her and Victoria, as stated in Chapter one, met at work. James was referred to as "her friend from the GSA," yet that statement alone does not rule out previous meetings. Something else that's been bothering me, why Christine didn't know James was trans when she spends time at the GSA. That one is a little more complex, James gets support from the other members, yet is mostly there to support others. He rarely talks about his transition and is extremely shy about questions relating to it, even if he does answer them. It is possible that Christine, who doesn't attend every meeting, never heard him say anything about it, or anyone else who didn't want to embarrass him.

As a final thought, there will be a W/ Yiff version of this chapter soon, or a side chapter from the main story line. It will be (largely) one-sided, as Lexi is currently not advised to receive orgasms... Having actually had a UTI, in fact a couple, this part of healing SUCKS!

Slice Of Lex: Ch. 7

By Jenny Harlow

Lexi woke up around noon, still feeling the warmth of the fox beside her. She could hear the fox breathing quietly, occasionally letting out a soft snore. She sat up, looking at her partner confused. This wouldn't have been the first time that she'd overslept her alarm, but it would be devastating for her today. She kissed the fox on the cheek, shaking her shoulder gently. Victoria awoke with a small start, letting out a faint snort as she did. "What is it Lex, what's up?"

"It's noon..." Lex said, as the fox rolled over and stretched casually.

"So?"

"Aren't you supposed to be at school?"

"I'm not called until five thirty today, I checked." Victoria laid on her back, her hands behind her head. The shifted covers revealing her soft stomach fur, which Lex stroked idly.

"I thought you still had class?"

"My Acting Three and Directing classes were cancelled. Amy couldn't find a babysitter today, so she's postponed all action until Richie gets home." The fox said, shrugging slightly. "What about you?"

"Similar story, so I guess we're both off until five thirty then." Lexi laid back down, scrooching to where she could rest her head on Victoria's chest. She was still idly rubbing her stomach. "So what are we going to do for five and a half hours?"

The fox put her arm around the wolf, and kissed the back of her ear. "I don't know... I mean, normally I know what I'd suggest." Victoria had a tiny devilish grin on her face.

"Yeah... This sucks." The wolf said, nuzzling her cheek slightly, eliciting a small giggle from the fox. Lexi sat up slightly, moving her muzzle into Victoria's. They kissed passionately. Their tongues occasionally darting forward, exploring the other one's mouth. Eventually they pulled apart, this time the fox rested her head on the wolf's chest.

"Well, no matter what we're going to do, we shouldn't do it hungry." The vixen said, rubbing her stomach. "I'm starving, usually I would have eaten by now."

"Fear not m'lady, for soon we shall ride forth to food." Lexi made a heroic pose under the fox.

"But I don't want to put pants on yet..." The fox said, letting out an overly dramatic moan, "Will you not get me food, oh brave heroine."

"Yes Vic, I'll get you food..."

"Cool, that was easy. I think I'll take a nice soak in the shower while you're out in the rain." Victoria said, rubbing the wolf's back. Lex's shoulder released a deep, meaty pop. The wolf let out a quiet gasp of pain. "You okay sweetie? You didn't throw your shoulder out again did you?"

"No it's alright, just needs to get warm." The fox moved off of her girlfriend, and sat up.

"You did get me food last night, so I suppose I owe you a favor. What do you want?"

"A sandwich from Dino's?" The wolf said, standing up slowly. Victoria wrapped her arms around from behind her.

"Alright, I'll be back in a few minutes."

The two girls parted, Lexi taking a long, hot shower, letting the warmth soak deep into her sore back. She stepped out, wrapping herself in her blue bathrobe. Her apartment was nice and warm, but not overly so. She lay back on the bed, using pillows to support her back. There was a knock on the bathroom door. "Come in." Lex said, leaning back with her eyes closed.

Christine slipped into the room, sitting gently in the recliner. She was again wearing her pink pajama top, with a pair of shorts under it. She looked as if she had just woken up, her short, brown hair was tousled and her eyes were still half-closed. She carried a small microwave meal with her that she popped into Lexi's microwave. She signed, "Mine broke..." She had a small frown on her face.

"What happened?" The mouse shrugged, leaning back into the soft fabric of the recliner. She yawned slightly. "You okay getting to class today?"

Christine nodded slowly, taking out her phone. She showed Lexi the Handi-Cab pickup time on it. Christine's classes were still in session today. She texted, "I'm fine, I have a pickup set. I wish I was able to stay home until call though, not really feeling that great."

"Ah, I'm sorry Chrissie." The wolf said, getting up and hugging the mouse. "What's the matter?" "Stomach upset, nothing really bad or contagious. Just upset from cramping really badly." Christine shrugged slightly as she sat back on the chair.

The wolf gently patted her shoulder before sitting back down on her bed. The fox arrived back soon, a broad smile on her face. "Free sandwich is best sandwich!" Her tail swooshed happily behind her.

"Free?"

"Yeah, while I was waiting in line I put a quarter in one of the little ball drop machines. It gave me a capsule with a free sandwich coupon in it." She said, jumping slightly.

"So for you, mimus and provolone on white, pepperoni, everything except onions and peppers. Also, because I love you so much, and I'm so generous, a bag of chips, a cookie and a can of Dr. Pepper." The fox noticed the miserable looking mouse. "Hey girl, what's up?"

"Her microwave broke, so she's using ours. Her stomach's a little off today, you know how that goes."

"Well crap, hope you feel better after getting some food in you. If I'd have known I would've picked you up a veggie club."

The mouse shook her head slightly, smiling. "It's okay." She signed.

Christine pulled her small bowl of alfredo out, and sat it on her lap, holding her stomach slightly as she wound the noodles around her fork. The two canines stripped the foldout of its covers and folded it away, before sitting and eating. "You need something to drink?" Lex said, as she popped her can of soda. The mouse nodded, putting another ball of pasta into her mouth. "Well right now, all I've really got in the fridge is one can of cherry D.P. and a couple cups worth of unsweet tea. Help yourself though."

Christine's phone buzzed as she finished her meal, it was the cab driver. She stood up hurriedly running back into her own apartment, waving as she left. "Well, I hope she's feeling better." Victoria said, biting into her probactro-roast sandwich. "Sometimes I do after eating, sometimes it's just like my reproductive organs are attempting to kill me."

The wolf nodded, making a small sound of agreement. They sat for a while, watching episodes of Wakfu on Netflix. Lexi looked at her phone after one episode went off. "It's only now just getting onto one. Maybe I could get a store trip in before going to class. You want to come with?"

"Sure, why not."

The two canines decided on going to the local Wal-Mart super store, as Victoria wanted to look at the games in the electronics department. The two grabbed a cart, and headed into the store. "I think I'll start my shopping, and let you go check out your games." Lexi put her arm around the fox's hips, "Nerd."

"Shut up baby, you know it." The fox said, shoving her slightly.

"Let's see." Lexi said, pulling out her phone and flipping to her list. Helpfully, she had only written 'food'. She sighed and facepalmed. "Okay, so pharmacy for my prescription, some toothpaste, and shampoo. I need food, obviously, milk... Then who knows, if I have enough, I might get myself some candy." The wolf said, leaning on the cart. At the pharmacy counter, she pulled her ID and debit card out of her purse. "Hello I'm here to pick up my prescription. Alexi Asher, two eighteen ninety four."

"Okay, I have one prescription ready for you, it will be about eighteen dollars."

"Wait, there should be two prescriptions, and it should be about half that price."

"Your refill for the Fluoxetine was denied, and it requires a renewal prescription from a doctor. Without it I can't fill it. I could give you a temporary dose for tonight, but other than that. I can't help you." The pharmacist then sat the small white bag on the counter and scanned it, "As for the muscle relaxer, we no longer offer a generic version of that. I'm sorry." The raven said, shrugging.

Lex sighed slightly as she slid the card over the counter. "My shoulder's been bad enough recently, I'll take it. She walked away from the raven, grumbling the entire way. She chose the cheapest toothpaste she possibly could, with a toothbrush bundled with it. She stood for several minutes, pulling out various shampoos, sniffing them and putting them back. She finally settled on an unusual scent, it had mint and lavender in it, but it wasn't overpowering. As she came back to the front of the store, she grabbed a Slim Jim and a lemonade. She checked them out at the self checkout and stood snacking while waiting for her vixen to return. The fox came back with a large grin on her face, and a white bag wrapped at the top. "What'd you get?"

"Assassin's Creed: Rogue. It looked like fun, so I got it." She said, placing her prize in the cart's baby seat. She casually threaded her fingers through the wolf's.

Lexi continued eating her snack for a second, while walking the vixen through her list so she didn't forget anything important. The two just stood, talking, their hands together, arms casually swinging. "That's disgusting..." A random otter said, hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry?" Lexi said, putting the empty wrapper in her pocket to throw away later.

"You heard me, you little slut."

"We're just minding our own business here, trying to get food for the week." The fox said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Well, you should keep your... your faggotry in private." The otter lowered her voice down, "I hope y'all burn in hell, dyke bitches."

Lexi felt Victoria stiffen, she held the wolf's hand tighter. Lexi took her cue to push the cart away, her holding one side, Victoria holding the other. "Ignore her," the wolf sighed softly, "She doesn't even know us. Besides, you can't let her ruin your day, you've got an exciting new game, rehearsals later." The wolf laid her head on the fox's shoulder. Victoria's eyes were teary, even though she attempted to smile at her girlfriend. Even if she let it roll off later, it opened wounds now.

"I know sweetie, I know..." She said choking slightly.

Victoria eventually recovered, watching her wolf stare excitedly into the deli case, trying to decide which meats would be the tastiest, her tail swishing softly as she looked the case over. The fox smiled, her girlfriend got so excited about the little things in life. The wolf straightened, pointing into the case. "I would like to try the mesquite smoked shuvo." The clerk handed her a slice of the meat, and she tore it down the middle, passing the other half to the vixen, her tail was making an audible whoosh in the air. "I like it... What do you think?"

"It's pretty good." The fox said, her own tail swaying happily, watching as her girlfriend nearly bounced with happiness at receiving the small package of meat and cheese.

They got home at nearly three o'clock. By this point the words of the hateful little creature were the furthest thing from their minds. As they took the small sacks of groceries up to the apartment, laughing and making stupid puns. Victoria also brought the banana bread up from the truck, and each had a piece in their hand. When they walked into the apartment, the first thing they noticed was that it was extremely hot. The temperature was climbing outside again, even though the day was clouded. Lexi walked over to the AC and attempted to turn it down. "My AC isn't working." The wolf said, turning to the fox. The heat was already reaching the level of oppressive. "I'll call building maintenance." She pulled out her phone, sitting down on the couch. "Hello, building maintenance? This is four D, my air conditioner isn't working."

"Four D, give me a second." The female technician said. "Ah yes, Ms. Asher. Alright, well I'll add it to the list. There's been a lot of power fluctuations recently, and it's causing havoc with several people's electronics. If you have any other problems, let me know and I'll start an insurance claim for you."

"Thanks, but is there anyway to get my AC fixed tonight?"

"I probably have a spare in the basement, but you're not the only one. Odds are, it can take upwards of a week to get you a new one."

"Ah, well that sucks. I understand, thanks though."

"No problem, let me know if you need anything else, you have a good day Ms. Asher." The technician said before hanging up.

Lexi sighed as she pulled her knees up to her chest. "It's way to hot to stay here, and it's not going to get much cooler tonight."

"Why don't you come stay with me? Mom wouldn't mind having you around for a week, if you don't mind an extra half hour drive to school."

The wolf stood up, grabbing her girlfriend in a tight hug, "Thanks, I'll bring my groceries with me too, just in case the fridge dies while I'm not here." The two packed Lexi's car with personal effects and her groceries. Lexi dropped Victoria off at her truck, and proceeded on towards the fox's house. She arrived a little before Victoria, letting herself in with the key her girlfriend had given her. Mrs. Adams was sitting in her office near the stairs.

"Hey Vic- Oh Lexi! Nice to see you dear, but I'm afraid Victoria isn't back yet." Mrs. Adams said, coming out of the office still dressed in her work clothes.

"Actually, I came to stay for a few days. Victoria's right behind me." The wolf set her bags down, looking at the older Vixen. "Is that alright? My air conditioning broke. I'd stay with my mom but she lives further away."

"Sure baby, it's fine. I love having you over, and Victoria likes it too."

Ryan appeared at the top of the stairs, leaning over the railing. "What's Vic like?" He said, leaning on the bannister. "Oh, I see." He said with his tongue stuck out.

"Don't you have a job to get to young man?"

He walked down the stairs in his food service uniform. A bright orange shirt, black pants, and black leather top shoes. He actually stopped and hugged Lexi on the way out, "Glad to see you're feeling better." He then proceeded to walk out the door as if nothing happened.

Victoria came in not long after. "Hey mom, is dad home?"

"Yes, he's in our room right now."

"Thanks, I need to borrow one of his undershirts. My tank I wear under my costume ripped."

Her mom just shrugged as the younger vixen walked into her parents' room. "Well, in the meantime, I was just about to fix some lunch for John and Kylie. Are you hungry?"

"A little, thanks mom." The wolf said hugging the older vixen.

After a brief lunch around the table, the two college canines left for school. They kissed for a moment in the driveway before leaving their separate ways. Lexi arrived at the theatre, finding Christine already at the soundboard, running checks while looking like she was half-dead. Thankfully, the class didn't last long, only about three hours of the planned four. Lexi took Christine home so that she didn't have to wait for another cab to pick her up. "Are you sure you're okay?"

The mouse nodded slightly, leaning the seat back so that she was almost lying down. When Lexi stopped at the apartment, Christine got out and turned around. "Aren't you coming?" She texted.

"Nah, it's too hot in my apartment, the same surges that killed your microwave apparently broke my AC too. I'm staying at Vic's for a few days." Christine nodded, "Is James going to stay with you tonight or are you going to be alone?"

"James went back to his dorm where he's a little more comfortable. I'll be alright though, just gotta get through the next few days and I'll be over this."

Lexi put down her phone and got out of the car, coming around to hug the mouse. "If you need anything call." The wolf said, the mouse was warm in her arms. "Are you sure you're okay? You're feeling a little feverish."

The mouse nodded, leaning back against the car. She gathered her strength and waved to her friend as she walked into the building. Lexi turned around to head out again, headed back for her fox's house. Mr. Adams had cooked his family a nice dinner, and welcomed the wolf to it. Victoria wasn't actually home yet, still at rehearsals for another hour. After dinner was cleared away, and Kylie was sent to bed,Victoria came in from school. Mr. Adams brought out a bottle of alcoholic cider that he'd warmed up, and passed his daughter a heated meal. "I don't drink often, but tonight seems to call for it. Especially for you Victoria, and Lexi too." Lexi looked at him curiously, his eyes looking knowingly into hers. "It's because you're shows are both so close to ready, I figured you'd like to celebrate." His subtext was, you girls have had a rough day, and thi should help you settle down some. He also slid over some cookies baked earlier that day.

Lexi, Victoria, Ryan and Mr. and Mrs. Adams sat around the table. The two parents asking about their children's, and almost child's, day. Ryan had several colleges come to his school, and was excited to discuss his options with the two college going canines. "So I've kind of decided on my major, I'm thinking about education and I'm wondering if you two know anything about the plans at your school."

"I've worked closely with some of the education staff, as I'm interested in becoming a theatre teacher when I get out. West has some nice staff, I know that much, as to the actual program, I think you'd like it but it isn't my major." The wolf said shrugging.

"I haven't worked with any of our staff, but I did get a chance to sit in on one of their classes. I'd say you'd be just as good either place. Tuition for SH State is cheaper though." Victoria put her hand on her wolf's shoulder, Lexi nodded slightly. "If you keep your grades up though, it doesn't matter so much. I'll tell you what, you'll be at Sam Hill when you come see the show, ride in with me and I'll take a day to show you around between shows, I'm excused from all classes on those days anyway. Then before summer starts, maybe Lexi can show you West." The older canines sipped happily on their cider.

"Can... Can I have a mug of that?"

Mr. Adams looked at his wife, who shrugged, before filling his son a mug of the cider. "It's not too strong, especially now that it's been heated a little. Still be careful though."

Ryan sipped it slowly, swirling it in his mouth for a second before smiling broadly. "It's not bad." He said, sitting back in his chair, looking pleased with himself.

"Ah, my little brother's growing up!" Victoria said, helping herself to another cookie. Everyone at the table laughed. Lexi stretched and yawned. "Well, looks like a certain wolf of mine is tired. I think we'd best get to bed, are you ready babe?"

"Yeah..." Lexi said, standing from the chair, finishing her mug of cider before heading up the stairs. "Goodnight." The two girls said, one after the other before closing the door to Victoria's room. Lexi pulled out her medicine box from her purse. She dropped two painkillers and her antibiotic onto her palm.

The fox sat on the bed, pulling her clothing off and throwing it into a basket on the other side of the room. "I'm so glad to be home. It's been a night. That scene I said was cursed, I won't stop believing that until random bad shit stops happening."

"What happened now?"

"The platform snapped in half while they were picking it up, luckily for me I was barely off the starting point."

Lexi just made a general mmm, sound and removed her own clothing before sliding into the covers. The bed was nice and cool, and the wolf sighed heavily. She placed her back against Victoria, who had pulled out a large book and was starting on some homework before bed. "Goodnight my dearest." The fox said, leaning over and kissing Lex between her ears.

"Goodnight my vixen." Lexi snuggled against the fox, her body shifting softly. As Victoria was reading the text she'd been assigned, with the book open on her lap, she stroked Lexi's side. The wolf lay with her eyes shut, her breathing relatively slow, completely ignoring Victoria's small goose-necked light. However, it didn't last long. She started crying softly, her body shaking slightly as she did.

"What's wrong?" Victoria said, closing her book. She rolled on her side, putting her arms around the wolf.

"I'm still thinking about that shit in the store today. You know I said to let it roll off, but I could see how much it hurt you. It hurt me too, it reminded me of my dad, and how he called me a 'faggot' and a 'lezbo' from the second I came out, hell he called me and Darren 'faggots' even before that." She laughed humorlessly, "Hell, I brought a girl home at fourteen and even she wasn't safe from it. On top of everything else my dad was an actual pervert." The wolf said, rolling over to face her girlfriend, wrapping her own arms around the vixen's body. "I thought I could let it roll off, but it's hard... It's damn hard."

"I know... At least we have each other now." The fox said, smiling in the darkness.

"Yeah," The wolf was still sobbing slightly as she held onto the fox. "I... I know what you're planning." Lex confessed.

"What? What do you mean?" The fox said, hoping against hope.

"You're planning on proposing... I don't know where or when, but I know you intend to. You, were talking in your sleep. All you said was 'I do.' and I put the pieces together."

Victoria groaned slightly. "Well, at least the where and when are still a surprise."

"You're not mad at me are you?"

"No, why would I be? It was literally an accident." The fox pulled her mate closer, her arms wrapping tightly around her. "You feeling better?"

"I am, I really am." the wolf said. "You can go back to your homework now. Thanks babe." Lex kissed Victoria on the muzzle before rolling back over. Victoria sat up again, even though her body protested.

"I've just got to finish this chapter."

"If it helps you could read it to me." The wolf said giggling. "Wait, how'd your dad know about earlier?"

"I told him, mom sometimes doesn't react well to these things. There's usually a lot of hugs and tears. That's just not what I needed at the moment. Dad normally listens to me, and rubs my back while I set on the bed and watch whatever movie he's watching with him. He sympathizes and calms me down, but he doesn't get all weird and clingy about it. I know I should've told you."

"Nah, it's cool, you just needed some one-on-one with your dad." Lexi pressed her back into the fox. "I love you, my sarcastic vixen."

"I love you too, my snarky wolf." Victoria said, idly stroking her girlfriend's side once more. Victoria closed her book, truth be told neither were in the mood for sleeping. "So, who was this girl you brought home eh?" The fox turned the light off again, laying back to back with the wolf, enjoying just talking.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you,"

"So I know her then?"

"Sort of."

"Okay, I'm guessing it would be one of your theatre class mates. Was it Corina?"

"Wrong on both counts. They do attend West, but it isn't a theatre friend of mine,"

"It can't be Christine, you and I were dating when the two of you met. I can't think of anyone else."

"Would you believe me if I said it was a very young James?"

"But James isn't a-" Victoria blinked. "Really?"

"Yeah, back before I knew James as James we dated briefly. I was a senior, he was a junior, when he broke it off with me, he told me he was transitioning. I actually sat with him and his grandma while he picked out a name."

"Huh... The things you learn." Victoria said, as her tail attempted to wrap around Lexi's.
