Character Intro - Serinthia's New Suit
#1 of Serinthia & Friends Intros
A brief introduction to my main character, Serinthia, and an appearance by my husband's fursona, Todd. It's the start of the summer season and Serinthia needs to accomplish the quite simple task of securing a swimsuit to enjoy the summer with. Luckily, Todd owns a shop in town that can provide.
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in the coastal city of Rivenwallow and the city was alive with activities of all kinds. Serinthia had the windows of her third floor apartment opened up wide letting in the warm, late spring breeze and with it the pleasing smell of the pizzeria across the street.
The mostly grey furred vixen was sitting at her dining table, wearing only a light t-shirt and some panties, along with the loosely buckled black leather collar she usually wore. She was sipping a cool glass of fruit juice with her laptop open as she hunted various sites for information on local shops. She enjoyed shopping online, especially when local alternatives weren't' available, but when it came to things like clothes she preferred finding some place where she could try things on first. If asked, she'd usually say clothing stores will be one of the few things that survive the online shopping boom because people will still want to try them on first.
Today, as she took another sip from her glass, Serinthia was looking for swimsuits as she needed a new one to start the summer season with. Consequently she was scanning the various sites and pages for local aquatic shops, of which there were plenty in a coastal city like this one. With over a third of the population being aquatic mammals of all sorts, aquatic sports and recreation were big business and even the non-aquatics like Serinthia enjoyed such activities just as much. One of the city's biggest draws, in fact, aside from the beaches, was the number of indoor and outdoor waterparks all over the city.
Serinthia sighed to herself as she flipped through page after page of sites advertising bikinis. They looked nice enough, but something about them never quite sat well with her personally. It wasn't that she was ashamed of her body or anything, quite the opposite, but she always just simply preferred how she looked in one piece suits and sometimes finding the right kind could be a chore.
She paused then as she found a site advertising a new aquatic shop in town, and not that far from her, in fact. She scanned the new page with interest, seeing that they a wide variety of suits and other products for both swimming and scuba diving, a sport she occasionally had a vague interesting in. Double-checking first that they were open today, she finished her drink before going to get changed before heading out.
Arriving at The AquaFox Aquatic Shop a short time later, Serinthia parked the car and head inside. The website certainly didn't lie. The store seemed to carry almost everything imaginable for having fun in the water. She didn't have long to browse, through, before a rather attractive red fox approached her.
"Can I help you find anything today?" He asked.
Serinthia took a moment to notice he seemed to be wearing nothing but a pair of blue swim trunks, leaving him quite bare chested and, for just a moment, Serinthia was somewhat speechless. She regained her composure quickly enough though, such that the male likely didn't even notice. Interesting approach, she thought, but for the kind of store they were in, it seemed to work.
"Actually yes," she replied "I'm looking for a new swimsuit for the summer season. Found your page for the shop online so I thought I'd come take a look."
"Oh wonderful," the fox replied "Well, I'm Todd, The owner, Welcome to my shop. As for suits, I just got some new ones in two days ago so I have plenty to choose from."
"A pleasure," Serinthia replied politely "I'm Serinthia. Let's see what you have."
Todd took her over to that section of the store where she found racks of swimsuits in both one piece and bikini styles where she began thumbing through them meticulously, looking for something both in her size and in her style as well. She took her time about it, wanting to make sure she got one that would both fit perfectly, and look good on her. Todd, she noted, gave her space to browse without hovering over her, which she appreciated.
After a time she settled on a simple purple one piece suit that seemed like it might be just half a size too small, but she decided to try it anyway.
"You have any changing rooms perhaps?" She asked.
"Of course," Todd said "In the back by the pool, in fact."
Todd led her into the back room, past the deep indoor pool that many shops like this one had for basic diving instruction, and showed her to the changing rooms.
Serinthia stepped inside and locked the door before stripping down to her fur, also unbuckling her collar and laying it aside. People did sometimes look at her funny when they saw her wearing one. She was hardly the only one that wore one though. It had become something of a minor fashion trend in the last few years that hadn't really caught on in the mainstream, probably because of all the more adult aspects people associated them with. It didn't both her too much. She loved wearing one. She loved how they looked, and how they felt, and whenever she needed to dress up for special occasions she even had different styles of them in her closet back up to accentuate almost any outfit. In the run of the mill every day, though, loose black leather was fine with her.
She normally never took it off unless she was swimming, or bathing, or sleeping, but she figured trying on swimsuits was close enough so she laid it aside with the rest of her clothes. She then began pulling the suit on pulling it up past her hips, snugging it up against her body in the right places before pulling it up the rest of the way and pulling the shoulder straps up her arms to her shoulders. She made a few adjustments how it fit around her chest and breasts before looking it over in the middle thoughtfully.
It was just a tad too small, she could feel that already, but even so, her appearance in the mirror pleased her. Quite suddenly she wondered what the salesfox would think of it. She grinned to herself and openedthe door, stepping out where he was till waiting and smiled.
"What do you think?" she asked.
The way his eyes widen slightly she was pretty sure she already knew. Still, he remained professional.
"Oh yes, That does look good, If I might say so," Todd said as he looked her over "Fit seems perfect in fact."
"Pretty close to it," Serinthia agreed, turning around for him and smiling "I'll take it, in fact. I'll be right out to settle up."
She stepped back into the changing room briefly to change back into her normal clothes, slipping her collar back on before heading out to the frount counter where Todd was already ringing her up.
"I love suits like this," she commented "They remind me of my days on my high school's swim team."
"Oh really?" Todd asked "I was on my school's team too. Hard to get in though, you wouldn't believe how many otters were on it."
"Considering where we live," Serinthia relied with a grin "it's not hard to believe it at all. It was the same for me, but I proved myself well enough."
"Yeah, I know the feeling," Todd said, as he rang her up and Serinthia swiped her charge card for the purchase. Todd slipped the suit in the bag along with the receipt and smiled.
"Enjoy," he said.
"Oh I will," Serinthia said "i'll be sure to leave a good review for you."
"Thanks," Todd said. Then after a moment he grinned slightly "Say, you wouldn't happen to have plans tonight. Maybe we could get some food or something."
Serinthia paused a moment and blinked in surprise. "Your normally ask out new customers?" she asked.
"No, just attractive vixens like you," Todd said still smiling in a friendly way.
This fox worked fast, she thought. But at least he was honest and she had to admit, with him standing there in only his swim trunks, she liked what she saw. After a moment she grinned right back at him.
"Food sounds good," she said "When do you close?"
"Seven," Todd said "There's a great little restaurant down the street. My treat of course."
"I'll see you then," Serinthia said, taking her purchase and heading out.
When Serinthia got back to her apartment she tossed the suit in her laundry basket for an initial wash later and then got something to drink before sitting back down at her laptop as she began composing the good review she promised. She chuckled briefly to herself as she contemplated telling the world about the date she had, but she decided to leave that particular aspect of her shopping experience out.
