Toasty Teacher Conference
One of my few clean stories meant to establish a bit of backstory for Toasty and Tay.
"He's a very bright boy but...." the phrase most parents are dreading to hear at a parent teacher conference. "His social skills leave a lot to be desired." the bear noted while pulling out a few sheets of paper to hand to the cheetah.
"Has he been getting into fights?" Toasty replied, splaying his ears back as he looked over the sheets labeled 'demerits'.
"Well there hasn't been more than one physical incident but he...I'm sorry I'm just having some trouble here. You're his older brother?"
"Adoptive brother, yes. I take care of him while our parents are out of town." the teen explained, nodding to the ursine.
"I see. Well normally we like to speak with the child's parents directly."
"Let's skip the tip toeing here. I still have to get home and cook dinner before I go babysit the neighbor kids. You wanna speak to his parents because you think it'll help more than speaking to me. Well it won't because here's the kicker, they aren't around as much as me." the teen huffed as he settled the papers on the desk. "Your 'incidents' that you've listed here are something I've heard of from him as well. This one particularly." the cheetah said pointing out the top paper.
"Let's see. Ah, yes the incident with Jimmy." the bear sighed shuffling some papers around to pull out a few more things.
"From what I've been told you failed to provide a private changing area for him during gym classes and this occurred when one of the other boys tried to break into the stall he was changing in."
"Well, teachers are not allowed to watch the children change so we can only assume what happened based on their expla-" the bear began to explain.
"You're aware you have to provide private changing rooms for intersex students like him, correct?"
"We are but"
"By law you're required to provide that. And I'm going to assume that this 'Jimmy' who I also babysit hasn't been punished for this incident at all?" Toasty pressed pulling out his cellphone.
"Well I'm not at liberty to discuss disciplinary measures against other students."
"Well luckily I have his mother's number, one second." the cheetah said dismissively as he dialed. "Hi Jenny." he said in a cheerful tone. "Well I'm sorry to bother you but I'm currently having a discussion with Jimmy and Taylor's teacher and he's telling me that there was an incident involving my younger brother and your son." he explained. The bear across the desk began to pale as he listened. Ms. Harper, Jimmy's mother was on the schoolboard and something like this could land him in hot water. "You didn't hear about it at all? Well Jimmy tried to kick in the stall door while Tay was changing." the feline nodded, looking up at the bear. "That's what I thought. Don't worry too much about it. I'll have words with Tay when I get home. I'm sure he's not completely innocent in this either." he replied as he smirked at the teacher. "Thank you again ma'am." Toasty smiled as he shut the flip phone to end the call.
"What do you know? This is the first she's hearing of this." the cheetah all but spat at the bear.
"This is absurd. There's no way you just spoke with Ms. Harper." the bear muttered as he shuffled his papers nervously.
"Jenny lives two doors down from me and I babysit Jimmy on tuesdays and the occasional friday. I have his mother on speed dial because I know he's a hellion." the feline said coldly. "This incident occurred two months ago and she's not heard of it at all while I've received three notes and a detention slip for it." the cheetah continued.
"Disciplinary measures needed to be taken for the language your brother used while the gym teacher was trying to separate them." the bear stammered.
"You mean you wanted to punish the odd kid so you didn't have to deal with this anymore."
"I resent that accusation!" the bear almost roared, slamming his fist against the desk. "Your brother is the problem in my classroom, not the normal children!" the ursine growled.
"And yet..." the feline said calmly, holding up his phone. His claw was wedged in the phone to keep it open. "I'm pretty sure you're the problem." he replied quietly. As he reopened the phone, the bear went pale again while the realization washed over him. The feline hadn't hung up at all. "Did you get all of that Ms. Harper?" he inquired.
"I did." the voice of the parent in question spilled into the room through the phone's speaker. The bear across the desk began to properly sweat it now as his mind caught up. She was on the school board, she just heard everything.
"Fuck."
"Mr. Brownfield. Until further notice you're suspended without pay pending an investigation into your classes. Get the hell off of school grounds."
The cheetah just smirked a bit as he sat back in his chair. "Thank you Ms. Harper. I'll see you tomorrow." the feline noted, shutting his phone and pocketing it as he began to rise. "I've been dealing with people like you for a while now. Taylor's been dealing with it for longer. If you think he has a problem being social it's due to assholes like you making it harder and harder for him to be a normal kid and making it easy for kids like him to be picked on." the feline explained with a deadly tone. "Be glad my parents are out of town." the teen added as he turned to walk out. "They wouldn't have stopped with costing you your job." Toasty added as he reached the door.
"You smug little fucker!" the ursine roared as he threw one of the teaching awards on his desk at the feline. Toasty slipped out of the room as the fragile award shattered against the doorframe. At the same time the school security guards came round the corner. They ran into the room and subdued the bear, tazing him and handcuffing him before escorting him off of school grounds. The cheetah meanwhile made his way down to the security office to give a statement. Attempted assault on a minor would definitely make sure his little brother never had to deal with this again.
He was a bit relieved to be met with a friendly face when he finished giving his statement. "Hey Toast." Ms. Harper said softly, pulling the boy into a hug. "You okay?"
"Yeah, he chucked something at me but missed." the teen said quietly.
"I'd like to thank you. We've had a few complaints about him but nothing solid yet. Either way he's fired."
"And I'd like to offer you this gift certificate to domino's pizz-ack!" Toasty chuckled a bit as the principal was pelted by Ms. Harper's purse.
"Honestly George!" the vixen huffed as she slapped the otter with her purse a few more times for good measure. "The boy just about got assaulted and you're already trying to brown nose so he won't sue us?!" she huffed cracking him one more time before straightening up a bit.
"Hey I'm the one being assaulted here!" the otter whined, ducking an additional swing of the woman's bag.
"Don't worry about it Ms. Harper, Mr. Daniels. Honestly I'm just happy Tay won't have to deal with him anymore." the cheetah sighed quietly. "I'll take that certificate though." the feline said with a grin. "Kinda helps since I get the good kids I babysit pizza and have to pay it out of my pocket more often than not." he said chuckling as he stuffed the paper into his pocket.
"Is he still at home?" the vixen asked, still glaring daggers at the otter as he handed the cheetah the paper.
"Yeah. Mom and dad are out of town for the week at a conference so I should get home and make dinner." the feline noted as he smiled a bit.
"Well, we won't keep you. The security guards gave their statements and he'll be spending the night in lockup at the very least." Daniels interjected, nodding to the police car outside. "We'll handle the rest of this."
"Go on home hun." the vixen said quietly, ruffling the cheetah's hair a bit.
"Thanks Jenny."
"How come he gets to call you Jenny and I have to call you Ms. Harper?!" the lutrine whined before getting whacked with the vulpine's purse again.
Back at his house the cheetah dropped his bag by the door and shut the door behind him. He sighed quietly as he made his way upstairs. "Tay?" he called, opening the door to his younger brother's room. His brother was right were he expected, seated in front of his computer with headphones on as he played games. The teen lifted the headphones off one ear as he leaned in. "Homework?"
"Done. Conference?"
"Taken care of. Dinner?"
"Pizza?" the boy asked hopefully.
"You had pizza last night..." the teen huffed as he let the headphones go and stepped over to the boy's bed to flop down upon it. Taylor closed his game and spun his chair around as he let his headphones drop. He stretched a little bit, his hoodie lifting just enough to give the older teen a view of his kitty. Taylor was born with a a defect that had come to be known as 'C-boy' syndrome.
It wasn't an uncommon thing, a hormone imbalance during pregnancy caused him to develop just a bit off kilter. Rather than the normal boy bits he developed with a vagina instead. His mother gave him up for adoption at the hospital where Toasty's mother worked. The second she laid eyes on him she knew he'd be coming home with her. He had a soft red coat with an almost white belly which the teen admired as he watched the lanky younger feline step over to bed and flop down.
"What'd Mr. Brownfield say?"
"You remember Ms. Harper? Jimmy's mom?" Toasty began. Taylor flinched a bit.
"I'm in trouble for calling him a dick aren't I?"
"Nah~" the cheetah sighed, ruffling the boy's hair a bit and screwing his glasses up a bit. As the younger boy straightened his glasses the cheetah continued. "She listened in on our discussion and decided it would be best if Mr. Brownfield worked somewhere else for a while." the big cat explained.
"She...wait...what?"
"He's been fired." the older boy clarified.
"Whoa... I know I didn't like him but did you have to get him fired?"
"Well to be clear he said that the 'normal' kids in his class weren't a problem. And then he threw something at me." the cheetah noted.
"Damn..."
"Yeah. Plus side..." Toasty grinned fishing the certificate from his pocket. "We can order pizza tonight." he smirked. Tay grinned as well and hugged his older brother tight.
"Silly." the younger boy mumbled into the cheetah's fur.
"Always."
"Love ya big bro." the kitten mumbled softly as he began to purr into the older boy's chest.
"Love you too Tay-tot." Toasty said quietly, earning a whine from his younger brother.
"Always with the ebil nicknames!" the crimson colored kitten whimpered.
"Can't help it, you're tasty and lil." he noted, nibbling on the younger boy's ear gently.
