#4 of Our First Year

Hey guys, here's chapter 4 of Our First Year, please enjoy!

Rays of sunlight were shining right on Jake's face. He opened his eyes but couldn't see much through the sun. Jake sat up, rubbed his eyes, and stretched. He peered around the room. Shawn was nowhere to be found. Jake looked at the little half kitchen across the room. There was a covered plate that had a note on it. "Jake, I'm up on deck. Here is a plate of breakfast. Sorry I wasn't there when you woke up. -Shawn" Jake uncovered the plate to reveal scrambled eggs with toast and bacon. Jake covered the plate again and walked upstairs. It was bright and early. Judging from the position of the sun, it was about eight in the morning. Jake looked around the stern of the boat for Shawn, but again, he was not in sight. Jake walked forwards to the bow of the boat. Shawn was sitting in the same spot they were last night. Jake sat next to him and laced his arm through Shawn's.

"Good morning my handsome man."

"Morning."

Shawn was staring blankly into the water below.

"Is something wrong?"

"No, nothing is wrong. I had a dream last night that I hope becomes real. It's my wish."

"Well what did you wish on?"

"I saw a shooting star this morning. Just before the sun rose."

Shawn lifted his gaze from the water and met Jake's eyes.

"Just like in my dream. Your eyes are gleaming. A beautiful blue, it's mystifying, mesmerizing even."

Jake became a little red.

"My eyes aren't that pretty."

"They are the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. I don't know how no one has fallen in love with your eyes yet. I know I have."

Jake blushed a little harder.

"You know, I've never had someone tell me that before. I mean, a few people have told me I have pretty eyes, but no one has ever said it like you did. So tell me, what happened in your dream?"

Shawn hesitated.

"Nothing special. We just laid in your bed back at the dorms."

"Oh," Jake dropped his gaze to his paw, "Yeah, mine wasn't anything out of the ordinary either."

"What was yours about?"

"We were just riding in a car."

Shawn looked puzzled. "Well, let's stop being all depressing and look at the bright side of things. It's a beautiful day and I'm with the most handsome man in the world."

Jake chuckled. "You mean you're with yourself? Cause I'm not that handsome. I could use some cleaning up."

Shawn pat Jake's stomach.

"You're perfect the way you are."

"Oh is that so?"

"Yeah, trust me, I've seen enough to know you don't need abs to look sexy. You already look that way without working out."

"But how much more sexy would I look if I had abs?"

"None more than you do now. You'll always be sexy to me."

Jake shoved Shawn who slipped off the boat and into the water. Jake laughed so hard he was choking. Shawn emerged from below the surface just under Jake, grabbed his legs and pulled him off the boat. Shawn quickly swam around the stern of the boat. Jake surfaced ready to splash Shawn, but didn't find him. He realized he was behind the boat and swam around himself. Shawn had taken his opportunity to swim back to the bow of the boat and around the other side. Shawn snuck up behind Jake and wrapped his arms around him.

"Hah! Caught you off guard didn't I?"

Jake tucked his arms and bounced just out of the water to slip back in and out of Shawn's grip. Jake emerged just behind Shawn and grabbed him with one arm below the shoulder.

"If you want to wrestle in the water, you have to know how to keep a grip."

Jake dove below the surface dragging Shawn down with him. Shawn was barely able to take a breath before he went under. Shawn tucked his head and arm together and slipped through Jake's hold. Shawn kicked away from Jake and swam to the surface. He grabbed the low railing of the boat and lifted himself out of the water. Jake surfaced and followed suit. Shawn grabbed a couple of towels from the cabin and brought them up on deck.

"Here. Did you bring a change of cloths?"

"I didn't bring shit. Just what I showed up in."

"Oh! That's right. I brought a change of cloths for both of us. Let's take a shower. There's one in the bathroom."

"Alright, you going first?"

"Nah... actually, yeah, I'll go first."

"Alright. I'll give you... ten minutes. If you're not out by then I'm coming in after you."

Shawn stared at Jake.

"What? I'm joking. I'm not going to come in after you... unless you want me to."

"But that's the thing. I do, but I think that would be too fast."

"I know what you mean. I do, but I don't."

"I think for now it's best we just stick to boyfriend stuff." Like laying down next to each other and watching movies. That and going out on dates."

"I agree. We should move slowly."

"That's good. I'm going to jump in the shower real fast. Be out in a minute."

Jake stepped to the bow of the boat. He leaned on the rail and stared at the sparkling water. The motion of the waves were short and choppy. The water splashed Jake. The cool morning breeze combined with his wet cloths made him feel chilled. He decided to take a trip downstairs and sit in the kitchen until Shawn was done. Jake walked back and down the stairs. He looked up to see Shawn standing there naked. Jake turned as red as a cherry and covered his eyes and fell back on the stairs. Shawn grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist.

"You can open your eyes now."

Jake opened his eyes. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to... I'm... I'm sorry."

Shawn walked over and bent down beside Jake.

"It's fine. It's not the end of the world. So you saw me naked. I'm not freaked out by it. And you shouldn't be either."

Shawn's soft smile calmed Jake down. He got control of his breathing and sat up.

"There's no need to be sorry. Besides. We are boyfriend. It was bound to happen sooner or later. So it was a bit sooner than expected. I can make do with that."

Jake stood up and hugged Shawn.

"I'm still sorry."

"It's okay. Now go take a shower. We have to get cleaned up so we can get ready for the next part of this date."

"It still isn't over?"

"Hell no, I told you. Friday night till Saturday night. We still have a whole day."

Jake got in the shower and Shawn got dressed. Shawn told Jake he was going to be upstairs. Jake finished his shower and looked through the bag on the bed. It had a set of his cloths from his closet. It was all his except a pair of underwear. They were brand new, still rolled up. He took out his cloths and put them on. The underwear were the best he had ever had. They felt amazing. Jake walked upstairs and found Shawn sitting in the chair at the helm.

"You ready for a ride? We've got a place to be and we have fifteen minutes to get there."

"Let's go."

Shawn started the boat and pushed the throttle forward. The engine roared and whined, starting to kick up water. Shawn was driving and turning ways that had Jake lost. He didn't know which way they came. Finally, Shawn pulled the throttle back and the boat went into idol. They drifted forward a few yards when a big stage came into view. There were boats everywhere. All anchored and in place facing the stage.

"What's going on?"

"Well, I did some digging and found something I figured you'd like. So I bought us tickets. Someone will come by in a minute and grab a ticket from each of us."

Just then a small boat pulled up beside them. A male white fox stepped out of a shack on the boat. He stepped to the side of the boat and held out his hand. Shawn gave a ticket to Jake and handed the other ticket to the fox. Jake looked at the ticket. There was the name of a band on the front. "Grace of Final Days." Jake's eyes grew wide. "This is... is this really a concert for Grace of final Days?"

"Yes, now give the fox your ticket."

Jake handed the fox his ticket. The fox punched a hole in one end and folded the other end.

"Thank you sir. Enjoy the concert."

The fox sped away toward another boat that had just arrived.

"How did you get tickets? I thought they were sold out?"

"Well, first off. I knew they were your favorite band because I kind of saw all their cd in your desk one day when I was searching for something. A few weeks later, there was this couple selling their tickets because they couldn't go anymore. So I bought them for like a third the original price."

"Oh wow... you know I love you right?"

Jake jumped on Shawn and knocked him down. Shawn started laughing and wrapped his arms around Jake. Jake had started crying with excitement.

"This is the best thing anyone has ever done for me."

"I'd hoped you like it, but I didn't know it would be this bad. I'll go with something smaller next time."

"Shawn. I love you."

Jake buried his face in Shawn's chest and wrapped his arms around Shawn.

"Hey now, we just got done saying we are going to go slow."

"I know, but no one has ever done anything this nice. You brought me out for a romantic night on the lake. You cooked me dinner. And bought tickets to see my favorite band. There's nothing anyone has ever done that meant more to me."

Shawn simply smiled. Jake was overwhelmed with joy. Jake was bursting at the seams, jumping up and down. Shawn got two lawn chair out from a storage bin. He unfolded them and set them down near the very front of the boat. There were no other boats in the way. There was a straight shot to the stage that was a few yards in front of them. A few minutes had passed and a small siren had gone off behind them. A couple of police cruiser had pulled up behind them, blocking off the way to get to the stage. A boat had pulled up on the other side of the cruiser. The occupants exchanged a few words, the boat's passengers looked upset, but the boat turned around and sped off the way it came.

"So this is closed off now? No more can come?"

"Yeah, guy I bought the tickets from said there was a sharp cut off time of 10 am. Any later and you'll be turned around."

Shawn looked at his watch. 10 am on the dot.

"That means the bands should be making their appearances in just a few minutes."

Jake got excited again just thinking about everyone that was coming out. He didn't know who the opening bands were, but he couldn't wait to see Grace of Final Days in person. Jake had folded his ticket and put it in his wallet.

"So do you know what the opening bands are?"

"I have no clue. I didn't do too much research, just found the tickets, the place, which ironically enough was on the lake, and got the show time."

"Oh, well that's okay. Even if all the other bands suck, i'm glad I get to see Grace in person."

The bands went on stage at their respective times. All the bands were small, not too well known, but were pretty good. Finally, the main event. Grace of Final Days came on stage. Everyone in the audience roared with excitement. The lead guitarist played a few notes. The segment of the song was so familiar to Jake, he could tell what song it was from without a second thought. The guitarist picked up a mic and tapped the top to see if it worked.

"EVERYONE READY?"

The crowd roared a "yes" that was accompanied by whistling and clapping.

"I PROUDLY PRESENT YOU GRACE OF FINAL DAYS! I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS THE SHOW!"

Again, the crowd roared with upheaval. The band began to play their most famous songs. Randall's boat was shaking from the vibrations of the water. Shawn had put down the anchor, but that didn't stop them from moving. The boat was drifting in several different directions, coming close to hitting other boats. Shawn had remembered there were bumpers in the storage bin. He went and got the bumpers and hanged them all over the boat so that if they were to hit someone then there would be minimal damage. The band finished their song and began another. They played six songs total, each increasing in volume. When the last song was over, the time was about 5 pm. The sun was on its voyage towards the horizon. The band had packed up and left as well as most of the other boats. Jake and Shawn had stayed behind. Jake stared at Shawn with an unbreakable intent.

"I don't know what to say. All I can think of is thanks, but that's nowhere near what should be used to show you my appreciation. I'm utterly speechless. Shawn... this is the best weekend i've ever had."

Jake grabbed Shawn's paws and leaned forward and kissed him. Shawn was surprised by Jake's advancement. He closed his eyes and accepted the kiss. The kiss was long and passionate. They didn't stop to take a breath. Jake had reached down and grabbed Shawn's shirt and began to lift it. He stopped when he had gotten it halfway up Shawn's body. He broke away from the kiss and pulled Shawn's shirt back down.

"Sorry, I know you want to go slow. I do as well. I don't know what came over me."

"Truth be told Jake, most of the reason I don't want anything to happen right now is because everyone is staring."

Jake looked around and saw the remaining occupants of the other five boats staring in disbelief. Jake blushed a lot. Everyone began cheering and screaming. Shawn waved to them, but kept his eyes on Jake.

"You know what needs to happen now?"

"What?"

"An encore."

Shawn leaned forward and kissed Jake vigorously. Jake returned the kiss and again began rubbing his paw on Shawn's chest. His paw found it's way down to the hem of Shawn's shirt. His paw ducked under and felt Shawn's bare stomach. His abs were well defined. His paw rose higher, as he found Shawn's upper abdomen. His paw had made it's way to Shawn's peck. His fur was soft while his peck was tough with muscle. Jake couldn't stand much more. Jake stood and leaned forward, pushing Shawn to the floorboard. The heat of the moment had made him forget everything. His promise to Shawn to go slow, the crowd cheering around them. Time seemed to stand still and everything was quiet. Shawn had put up no resistance. He let Jake freely feel his body to his heart's content. There was no denying, both of them were lost in the moment. After what seemed like an eternity, the kiss slowly drew to an end. Jake had pulled away from Shawn with a huge smile on his face. Jake removed his paw from under Shawn's shirt and placed it on Shawn's peck. Shawn was sprawled out on the floor gasping for breath. Shawn was staring into Jake's eyes.

"There are those beautiful blue eyes again. They always seem to gleam when I look into them. That's okay though. I'll be happy to alway see your eyes gleam."

"Well then if you get to be happy with my eyes, I get to be happy with yours. The hazelnut color is so beautiful, it's hypnotizing. I could look at them all day, but there won't be any time for that, because we won't be looking while we kiss. Oh... and by the way, I love the stripes. They are so cute."

Shawn looked down and realized his shirt was still most of the way up, revealing his stomach and part of his chest. There were diagonal lines of dark gray running down his body. Shawn really didn't pay attention to them. The color of the stripes were so close to the rest it didn't really look different.

"You're the first person to ever notice them. Hell, most of the time I hardly notice myself. I had kind of forgotten they were there."

"Well noticed or not, they are very cute... and if you ask my personal opinion, very sexy."

Jake leaned forward and kissed Shawn again. The crowd around them died down. Most of them had left to give Jake and Shawn their privacy. A few had stayed behind and were simply watching how things were going to turn out. Shawn stood up with a bounce.

"Well, sorry, but that's all there is tonight everyone. No more show."

Jake stood up beside Shawn and laced his arm though Shawn's. The remaining two boats started their motors and sped off. Shawn started the boat and pushed the throttle forward. Shawn parked the boat in the rental spot. The two cleaned up the boat, sweeping the deck and gathering trash and dirty, wet cloths. When the boat was clean, Shawn had taken out a $50 from his wallet and placed it in the glove box. He pulled out his phone. There was plenty of signal. He opened a conversation with Randall and sent him a text saying "Hey, we finished with the boat. Parked it in spot 23 on the right. I left a $50 in the glove box for anything your dad might need it for. Thanks again and tell your dad I said thanks."
