Twotopia - Chapter 12: For The Love of a Father.
(Place description here)
"That's it." Finnick announced, sitting in the front seat of Flash's car. "It's time. Flash, let's show em what we got."
"Why do I have to be in the trunk again!?" Matt complained.
"No... Time.... To.."
"Explain, hit it!" Finnick finished. Flash laid on the gas and started speeding down the street. Coming through the winding roads, they made it up to the gate with with Flash's new ramming rack on the front and blew through it. It was a straight shot toward the doorway and Aiden could see them coming. He got clear and shouted in the house.
"Get down!!" Careening through the front door in a mess of blistering wood and shattered glass, Flash landed at the stairs as Finnick leapt out from the car. Flash popped the trunk and let Grizzoli escape just in time to see Manches come growling out of the kitchen. Matt fired a taser straight into his chest and sent him to the ground. Rushing over he pounded Manches twice across the face, sending him into a daze. Finnick turned his gun on Aiden but he was already on the floor, a blood pack he set off burst and it looked like he had been shot in the stomach. Matt made a break for the basement just in time for Tyler and Oshu to appear at the top of the stairs.
"Hey!" Tyler shouted, as the two took aim at Flash and Finnick and fired on the car. Leaping inside, Finnick fired back catching Tyler in the shoulder. Oshu pushed Tyler behind him and started walking down the stairs, firing at Flash's windshield.
"You don't fuck with my crew!!" He shouted. Finnick leapt into the car and shouted.
"Drive, drive drive!!" Flash pulled a full reverse, clipping more of the broken open doorway and spun around outside.
"No you don't!" Oshu bellowed. "Boys, get to your cars!" He ordered. Rushing over to Aiden who was still on the ground he leaned down. "Aiden." Wincing and looking up, he stammered.
"Kill those mother fuckers."
"You hang on Aiden. Psych!! Get up here! Tend to your boy!" He bellowed as Psych finally arrived upstairs.
"Aiden!!" He shouted rushing over. Oshu rushed out toward the garage with his crew on his tail. "Aiden hang on. I've got you!" He stayed by Aiden's side until Oshu, Manches and Tyler could be heard rushing out to chase Flash's car. "Well done." Parker praised, patting his shoulder. "Go now."
"Psych, please." Aiden begged.
"Go." He insisted, giving him one more good hug. "Please son, find your peace in this world. Know that you have my heart with you."
"Goodbye dad." Aiden cringed, letting go of Parker he rushed out to the garage.
"Goodbye Aiden."
Flash lead them out into Sahara Square, Oshu firing at Flash with every chance. Finnick offered up the same, shooting at the red muscle car that was easily gaining up on them and hitting the bumper. Just like last time, Flash was able to get ahead of him by keeping the turns frequent. Manches however was able to keep up, taking to the head of the pack.
"You're mine, rodents!" He growled. Oshu kept tailing them while Police began to circle, cruisers were starting to follow the chase; backed up by helicopters in the air. All the while, Psych was back at the house, with Hopps and Bogo alone. Oshu knew this was a bad situation turning worse, and anyone heading toward the house now could free them and kill Psych.
"Boys, break it off. Head back to the house." Oshu radioed to the others.
"But boss, I can get him!" Manches insisted.
"Santiago, get your ass back to the house!" Oshu barked. Manches didn't want to give up the chase that easily but turned himself around. It was enough time however for a cruiser to plow into the side of his car, sending it over onto its top. Police rushed out, guns and tasers locked on while Manches climbed out. Laying down on the ground he gave up, knowing he was busted.
"Damn it!" Oshu barked. "Tyler! Get a move on!"
"I'm with you." He panted heavily. "Just, what's going on?" He could barely see, the pain from his gunshot wound and driving was causing him to become sloppy. A cruiser was able to pit him into a median and spun him out. The front of his car staring down Johnson's cruiser as he leapt out, the gun aimed high.
"Get out of the car! Get out right now!" He barked. Tyler slowly crept out and landed on the ground grasping his shoulder.
"I give up! I give up! Please, I'm hit!" He begged. Johnson came up slowly and kept him on the ground.
"This is Johnson, we need paramedics."
"Fuck!" Oshu shouted once again, slamming on the wheel. He aimed his car back toward the house and rushed back with all haste.
After heading upstairs to grab his weapon bag, Parker headed into the basement Matt was with Bogo, Judy, Nick and Ryan ready to go.
"Come on, we haven't much time." Parker announced. Leading them up into the hall and out through the garage, they found an armored truck. "The boys used this to transport the money here. It should see you to safety, even if they should return."
"Come on Ryan, in you go." Bogo comforted, easing the wounded wolf into the truck. Matt took to the driver seat while Bogo stayed in the back with Wolford.
"Miss Hopps." Parker offered up a hand, getting her into the passenger seat. Smiling she took it and climbed in. "Nicky." He grinned, taking his son's hand. "In you go, kido."
"What, no booster seat?" He quipped.
"Little old for that, smartass." Parker chuckled.
"Where are you gonna sit?" Judy questioned. Parker hefted the bag on his shoulder and smiled.
"Relax, I'll get in the back." He nodded. Shutting the door as Matt started the truck, Parker walked to the rear. As he grasped the door, his heart shot up from the sound of screeching tires at the entrance to the garage. Oshu had returned, stopped right in their way. Parker dug into his bag and fitted his arms with his stun gloves and tossed the bag on the ground. Slamming the back door, he shouted ahead. "Drive cat!"
"What, no! We can't leave him!" Nick argued.
"Get out of here!" Parker bellowed as Oshu stepped out of the car and drew his weapon. Parker leapt behind the truck for cover as Matt gunned it, aiming the truck right for him. Oshu fired high, hitting the chain holding the garage open to send it down. The truck however just made it through, clipping the door and scrapping against Oshu's car on the way out. The door slammed shut, deformed and letting a few beams of light pass through as Parker now stood alone against Oshu.
"You, did this?" Oshu growled, pacing before the old fox. "You set us up? Got Tyler and Manches captured. Your boy killed!?"
"What makes you think Aiden is dead?" Parker smiled. Oshu growled, staring down the fox.
"A blood pack?"
"Not as foolish as you look." Parker threw up a brow.
"You traitor!!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, enough to startle Parker. "I trusted you! You were practically family! Why!?"
"I am sorry, Alex. But it came down to you or my son and the girl he loves. What other choice could a father make?"
"What are you talking about!?" Oshu demanded.
"That fox we chased. His name was not Andrew. He was Nick Wilde. My son. He and Judy are in love, Alex. Killing her would have crushed his heart and I wouldn't dare put him through that. I lost the love of my life years ago. I will not put my son through that hell to sate your sick little bloodlust." Parker growled.
"So that's how it's gonna be?" Oshu growled back, tapping the gun at his side.
"You could still walk away, Alex. You have everything you need to settle down somewhere else and trust me, I will not follow. Take your car, your money and run."
"I didn't come to this town to take the money and run. I came here to start a life for our crew, running this town as our own. You could have been a part of that, instead you threw it all away to save one lousy fucking rabbit. I should have killed her the second she stepped foot in this house." Oshu snarled.
"You'll never get near her, or my son."
"Fine. Then you can take her place." Raising his gun he aimed high on Parker and fired while he leapt out of the way. He only had two rounds left and both found nothing but air. Parker aimed his right stun glove at Oshu and fired, hitting him in the chest. Oshu fell to his knees, growling in pain as Parker whipped out the blades from his left and came charging in for a swing. Rolling out of the way the taser heads detached and Oshu found his feet. Parker fired the left one but it missed completely. Dumping the cartridges he brought out both blades and stood down Oshu.
"Remember what I said, kitten. Don't go thinking your king of the castle because of those claws." Parker reminded him. Oshu unleashed a piercing screech, charging for Parker as he charged for Oshu.
"Matt, stop! Stop the truck!" Nick bellowed as he neared the end of the driveway.
"Nick, we have to go!"
"Then go!" He exclaimed, opening the door as Matt slammed the breaks. "I won't leave my father there to die!" Nick leapt from the truck. Judy snatched up Matt's taser and clamored after Nick, slamming the door.
"Matt, go! Get them to safety and come back for us!" Judy shouted keeping up with Nick.
"Damn it you two!" Matt growled; putting the truck back in gear he fled the scene. Nick and Judy rushed through the grass, across the entrance and into the house. Shouting and screaming could be heard down the halls. Heading toward the garage, they threw the door open to see Parker and Oshu fighting within. Parker seemed to have his hands full, Oshu nearly cornering him inside. Nick and Judy rushed in, withdrawing her taser.
"Stop in the name of the law!" She shouted. Firing at the cheetah, he saw it just in time to miss the prongs. Turning his attention to Judy he swatted her away while Nick drew out his taser and caught him in the stomach.
"Fucking foxes!" Oshu screamed, inching closer to Nick as he backed away slowly. Oshu took a leap and managed to knock the taser out of his hand and hammered him across the face. Turning around, Oshu suddenly found his thigh skewered by Parker's blades. He bellowed in agony, trying to get a grip on Parker as he sent a heavy dose of current into Oshu's body.
"Don't you ever touch my son again!" Parker growled. Oshu gritted his teeth, jamming his claws into Parker's belly and pulled him in close. With one good rip, he tore up high, rending the old fox open. Parker withdrew the blades; sending Oshu to the ground as Parker staggered back, pressing on his belly as it bled profusely into his hands.
"Dad!!" Nick cried out. Parker caught his eyes for a moment before falling backwards to the ground. "No!!" Nick pulled out both of his guns and with no hesitation started firing at Oshu. Two hit his left shoulder. Another grazing his chest along the rib but Oshu was able to leap and pin Nick to the ground. Nick's aim had been thrown off by his father's pain killers. Growling over him, he seemed ready to tear out Nick's throat until Judy drop kicked him across the face.
"Come on you monster, it's time to end this once and for all." Judy taunted, pulling Nick to his feet. "Come on, Nick." She guided, leading him inside the house. Oshu gave chase as best he could, limping a good portion of the way in. Inside the house, he leaned on the hallway walls as Judy leapt off one and pounded his chest with another good kick. Nick synced it up with a good sweep to his back leg and sent Oshu to the ground. Scrambling to get up, Judy leapt off the walls again and kicked him across the face. Nick jumped up and caught Oshu's head and covered his eyes. The cheetah roaring as Judy wound up and hammered his injured leg with an impressive spin kick. It sent him and Nick to the ground, cringing he lost his grip to grasp his chest. Oshu took hold of the fox and tossed him into Judy, sending the two tumbling over and over.
"I'm going to tear you two apart, piece by piece!" He growled.
In the garage, Parker was dragging himself over the bag he left on the ground. Taking off his sweater, he wrapped it around the wound site and braced himself as he tied the arms in a tight knot. Screaming in pain, he clamored for the bag and took hold of his favorite gun, a silver magnum. Crying out in pain with each motion, he picked himself up and staggered left and right on his way into the house.
Judy and Nick were doing their best to keep the cheetah at bay. Out in the living room, they could only dodge the big cat as best they could. Lunging for Nick, he picked him up and tossed him into the TV, bellowing as he slammed into it. Judy took one good leap for Oshu and hammered his stomach with a solid double kick. The big cat staggered back, but as Judy leapt in for another he caught the rabbit and hurled her into the glass cabinet near the TV. Crashing through, she shattered every shelf and lay motionless on the ground. Satisfied the two were down he staggered his way over, pulling Judy from the pile of glass, planting her beside Nick.
"Watch as I kill your girlfriend, daddy's boy." He mocked. Nick cringed, reaching for his gun. Oshu leaned in to take a bite from Judy's neck, Nick fired and shot Oshu's ear clean off. Screaming in pain, he snatched the gun away and tossed it against the wall. "Fine! You first!" He growled, pounding down on Nick's chest.
"AHHHHHHH!" Nick wailed, the knuckles grinding into his gunshot wound.
"Hurt's doesn't it huh?" Oshu mocked. "Feel that! That's all your hard work stripped away! That's everything you fought for gone!" Oshu carried on, digging deeper into the wound. Nick screamed and cried at the top of his lungs, unable to take the pain. "You have your father to thank for this." He stated, rising up high over him. Growling he raised his claws, ready to slash Nick open when a thundering crack rung through the room. Oshu was flung forward, landing between Judy and Nick. Oshu gasped, struggling to form words or understand what had happened to him. Rolling over he looked at his belly, torn clean open from the smoking gun Parker was holding. "Psych." He gasped.
"Should have listened to me. Farewell, Alex." He panted. Oshu's paws shook for a moment before flopping to either side as he blacked out. Parker limped his way over to Judy and Nick. Judy was holding her head, ears flopped back and moaning in pain. "Nicky. Son, are you ok?" Parker whimpered.
"Nick!?" Judy cried. "Oh Nick!" Taking hold of his paw she guided him away from the mess and eased him onto the floor near the couch.
"I think. I think he popped a few stitches." Nick cringed, grasping his chest.
"Nicky. My baby." Parker cried, falling to his knees before hitting the floor.
"Dad!" Nick scurried over and pulled his father into his lap and held his hand. "Dad, you're hurt."
"My poor boy." Parker whimpered, putting a hand over his chest. "We need, to take care of, that."
"Shh, it's ok dad it's ok. I'll be alright." Nick tried to assure him. Judy took to Parker's other side and helped cradle his legs, putting pressure on his stomach.
"Take it easy Parker; we have to get you to a hospital." Judy said softly, as the sound of sirens grew in the distance.
"There's no hospital that can save me now." Parker whispered.
"Don't say that. Come on dad, you can pull through this." Nick pled to his father.
"Nicky, please. For.. For everything. I'm so sorry. I'm so very sorry." He cried, unable to hold back the tears.
"Shh." Nick leaned down, nuzzling his father. "It's ok dad, you saved me. You saved the bunny I love. I'll never forget it." He assured him, letting his own tears escape. "I love you dad, I forgive you."
"Judy." Parker reached for her hand, taking it and placing it in Nick's "Take care of my boy. I love him so much; he's everything in the world to me."
"I will, Parker. I promise. We'll look out for each other." Judy promised.
"You're happy... together.."
"We're happy." Nick nodded, kissing his father's cheek.
"My baby boy... He's happy." He smiled, keeping a fast grip on Nick and Judy's hands. "My Nicky... My son." Parker closed his eyes, his grip falling away as he shuddered.
"Dad, don't." He whimpered, taking him in close. "Please dad." Judy threw her arms around them, holding Nick as he cried holding his father in his arms.
The paramedics arrived at the house. Rushing in with gurneys they took both Oshu and Parker away. Judy and Nick were sitting on the bumper of one of them with blankets over their shoulders. One of the gazelle paramedics was keeping a press on Nick's chest.
"You'll have to get this re-stitched Mr. Wilde, ok?" He advised them.
"Ok." Nick answered quietly, hanging his head. Judy cuddled in close, Nick wrapping an arm around her as he sniffled.
"Here, I've got it." She dismissed the paramedic, holding the bandage. Delgato and Mariah approached the two of them together. Her eyes were red, sniffling and stammering as she kneeled before them.
"Are you ok?" She asked Nick, grasping his leg.
"I'll be alright." He nodded, meeting her eye to eye. "I guess.." He trailed off as Mariah nodded rapidly.
"Alex is gone." She stammered. "I hoped it wouldn't come to this. I prayed so hard he could come back." She cried. Delgato placed an arm over her back and comforted her. "But I knew it was a risk."
"Mariah." Delgato said softly.
"It's true. Nick I'm so sorry for what he's done." She begged.
"If there's one thing my father has taught me, it's to forgive. It's ok Mariah. I'm so sorry for your loss." Smiling with tears pouring out she hugged Nick and Judy tight. "Thank you." They took a good while to let the tears flow before she composed herself once more. "Ugh, this is such a mess."
"Mariah, is Finnick and Flash ok?" Nick asked.
"The Chief too! Ryan and Matt?" Judy threw in.
"Finnick and Flash? We have those two in custody at the moment. The chief, Matt and Ryan are alright. Bogo's actually here already, dealing with the media. The other two are at the hospital." She explained.
"We should go see them." Judy suggested, patting his leg. "We have to go back to get you fixed up anyway."
"Hey!!" One of the paramedics shouted. "We got a heartbeat! Where's the fox!?"
"What!?" Nick exclaimed. Tossing the blanket off he ran over to the caribou paramedic and waved him down.
"A heart beat!? On dad!?"
"Come on!" He ushered him over to one of the trucks. Inside Parker was rigged up to a heart monitor and breathing tubes. The screen showed it, a soft but noticeable heartbeat.
"Dad!! Dad hang on!" Nick urgently took hold of his hand and grasped it tight. Judy leapt up into the truck as well, smiling over Parker.
"Can he make it?" She asked.
"Maybe, we gotta move him to the ER now." The paramedic insisted.
"What are we waiting for, let's go!"
The hospital was quite a scene, many of the surgical rooms were busy from the animals injured from the day's events. Ryan Wolford in urgent care, suffering with dehydration and a rather serious infection in his shoulder. Tyler Stag, having the gunshot wound on his shoulder mended with his girlfriend, Kayla nearby. And of course, Parker in the ICU, having the serious cuts on his belly stitched and getting a blood transfusion.
Nick and Judy were in the waiting room with Finnick, Flash and Mariah. Finnick and Mariah in particular chatting away.
"So Nick dragged you into this?" She chuckled.
"Yeah, he's got a habit of doin that." He scowled to Nick. He gave Finnick a quick smile, but kept to holding Judy's hand as they waited their turn to be seen. A panda doctor arrived and greeted the two of them.
"Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde?" The two stood up right away. "I'm Dr. Haan, come with me please." Nick and Judy waved to their friends before following him into a nearby room. "Please, have a seat up on the table there." He insisted, ushering them into the office. Nick boosted Judy up onto the table as Nick leapt up and settled himself in. "Ok, Nick let's have a look at those stitches, hmm?"
"Sure." He agreed quietly. Dr. Haan slowly removed Nick's shirt along with the bandages. Four of the stitches had detached, as the doctor hummed looking them over.
"Yes, we'll have to redo these ones right away." Nick remained quiet while he removed the remnants of the old stitches and started threading in the four new ones. Normally it would have hurt quite a bit, but he was still feeling the effects of the pain medication Parker gave him. Giving the area a scrub with an anti-bacterial ointment, he placed fresh bandaging over the wound and wrapped Nick up. "There we go. I must say, you're quite the quiet patient." He heartily chuckled.
"Sorry." Nick sighed.
"His father is in ICU." Judy explained.
"Ahhh, I see. Yes, Parker Wilde." The big panda nodded. "Well if it's any comfort I heard that was actually going quite well."
"That's good." Nick half-smiled. Dr. Haan gave Nick's shoulder a gentle pat.
"With a son like you, I'm sure he'll find ample reason to pull through. Now on to you miss Hopps." He beamed. "Let's see here, let me know if you feel any pain." He asked, gently grasping her head.
"Right there, on the left."
"Ok. This doesn't look to bad, some bruising, a few shallow cuts." He stated, taking hold of her arms and moving down to her legs. "A few here as well?"
"Yeah." Judy nodded.
"Well the good news is, nothing is broken. I believe you'll be just fine. I do however want to give you a few wraps for that left arm and right leg. Seems like you've been in restraints and they're looking a bit rough." He stated, offering a few rolls of bandages to Judy. "Just clean the area thoroughly with warm water. Use this to keep the minor wounds free of dirt." He advised.
"Thanks doctor." Judy smiled.
"My pleasure."
"Hey, where's Dr. Dawson?" Nick asked.
"Oh, she's tending to other patients at the moment. She was in surgery for a gunshot victim earlier." He explained with a smile. The door behind them creaked open, revealing a doe dressed in a nurses uniform.
"Sir, is Nick Wilde in here?"
"Yes, come right in." He nodded, gesturing for her to come in.
"Mr. Wilde? I have some news regarding Parker."
"I'm listening." Nick looked up intently.
"Well, I'm sorry sir but, I'm afraid he has cancer."
"Oh I already knew about that." Nick brushed off with a smile.
"Oh! Oh phew, you have no idea how much I hate telling animals that." She sighed with relief. "Um, well the good news is we were able to stop the bleeding. He has about fifty-seven stitches and the blood loss is under control. We had to put him under a medically induced coma though to keep him alive."
"Why'd you have to do that!? Can he come out of it?" Nick asked.
"Of course, of course. It's just the blood loss and cancer he kept going into shock, we had to stabilize him. But he should be ok, most of the time coma's like this don't last more than a few weeks."
"That's good." Nick smiled, pulling Judy in close to him as she tickled his belly. "Thanks for that."
"Well, there's more. See, Parker's cancer is an odd case. While he was on the surgical table, we could visualize the tumors on both his kidney and stomach. They aren't consistent with growth over the time that's passed. He should be in the final stages, but the growth is more consistent with stage two on both his kidney and stomach."
"So, what does that mean?"
"Well, we'll know more after we get the biopsy results but. The doctors believe they're operable. If we do the chemotherapy while he's induced in the coma, he shouldn't feel any pain from that either."
"He could survive his cancer?" Nick leaned forward, wide eyed.
"At this moment, it's a good possibility, yes." She smiled.
"Wow." Nick smiled. "Talk about a full 180, huh?" He chuckled, throwing up a brow to Judy.
"You're his next of kin. Since Parker isn't awake to authorize it, we need your approval to go forward once the test results come back." She stated.
"Ok, sounds good." Nick smiled.
"If you'll excuse me." The doe bowed out.
"Well now, why don't you two head back to the waiting room, hmm? I'm sure your friends will be happy to hear some good news." Dr. Haan suggested.
"Sounds like a good idea." Judy smiled, taking Nick's hand. The two walked out into the hall and back into the waiting area. Bogo had arrived and was sitting next to Mariah, chatting for a bit.
"Hey chiefy, how's it hanging?" Nick greeted. Bogo huffed and watched as the two sat across from them with Finnick and Flash.
"Well, what's hanging is your jobs. Instigating a chase, insubordination, reckless endangerment of animals-"
"Jackass." Mariah cut in, elbowing his ribcage. "Technically I was his superior while you were in disposed and still am until you return to duty." She quipped. "Nick, Judy, well done. Consider your tactics exempt in freeing this blubber butt, yourself and Ryan." She smiled.
"You have to take the fun out of it, don't you?" Bogo posed to her, throwing up his brow.
"Learned from the best, what can I say?" She shrugged off.
"And Finnick and Flash?" Nick spoke up.
"Exempt as well. In fact, I think a commendation is in order for these two, especially since this is the second time Flash has assisted in a police investigation." Mariah noted. "I heard from the other officers how you had helped get Judy in undercover street race to get the info needed from Wolford." She praised.
"Yeah... That's...Kind...of...what....I....do." Flash replied with a cocky little smile.
"Well perhaps you'll consider doing it legally next time." She winked. "I know a few of the promoters in Predaton. I'll send you a few of their business cards and you can talk with them about trying out for the races." Flashes eyes slowly opened wider and wider as his jaw slacked.
"Wow!... Thank you.. Chief." He smiled.
"Welcome." Rising to her feet she dusted off her uniform and sighed. "Well Bogo. I have to go speak with the doctors here about Alex's body. I'm bringing him back home to be put to rest with our family's plot."
"Mariah, do you want me to come along?" Bogo offered, taking her hand.
"Please." She nodded. "I know he went astray but. I love my big brother. He should be with his family." She said, wiping her eyes.
"Now now, Mariah I've got you." He insisted, rising up to put an arm around her. "Let's go see him."
"Well, I'm heading out." Finnick announced. "See ya back at your place, Nick!"
"Me...Too... Priscilla... must....be....worried...sick." Flash joined in.
"Take care guys, see ya soon." Nick waved.
"Thank you Finnick! Thank you Flash!" Judy eagerly waved as well. "Come on, let's go check on Matt. Maybe he can drive us home?" She suggested.
"Cool, sounds like a good idea." Nick agreed, approaching the reception counter. "Hi there."
"Can I help you?" A doe working the counter asked.
"Looking for Matt Grizzoli, he's checked in to get looked over."
"Matt Grizzoli." She hummed. "Ah, here we go. 2nd floor, room B-14"
"Thanks!" Nick saluted. Walking down the hall and turning left, Nick and Judy found the elevator and hit the button. Stepping inside, the two waited for the door to close, while Judy was giggling, looking up to Nick. As they shut, she leapt up into his lips and gave him a long and rather wet kiss. The door opened up on the second floor with Nick's head fur slightly tussled and Judy stepping out with a dopey smile. "Where you going, we got 10 more floors?"
"Haha." Judy laughed back at him. Heading through the halls, they found room B-14. The door was partially open so Nick and Judy gently pressed on it and stepped inside. They couldn't help but smile, Matt was up on the table with Dr. Dawson standing before him, kissing him repeatedly. Matt spotted the two of them and broke up the smooch fest. Lani looked incredibly embarrassed while Matt just blushed and hid his face.
"Hey doctor, it seems I have a little swelling, right around here." Nick joked to Judy.
"Please don't tell anyone!" Lani begged. Nick and Judy just laughed.
"Well to return the favor you gave me." Judy smiled. "I saw nothing, Dr. Dawson."
Nick and Judy spent the next two days at home, resting up after the Psych and Oshu incident. The news about it had spread and this time, it was Nick being hailed as the hero. He was thankful he didn't have a home phone line, but his door was constantly being knocked on by reporters wanting an interview with him and Judy. Deciding to shrug them off, Nick agreed to doing a press conference at city hall along with Judy, Bogo and Mariah Kasi. The cameras were everywhere as reinstated mayor, Leodor Lionheart stood at the podium.
"It's my great pleasure to announce that thanks to the diligence, integrity and perseverance of our fine officers at the ZPD and Pred.PD. We have put a stop to the criminals Psych and Oshu, whom have been terrorizing our city. I'd like to turn things over to the officer who plotted the daring rescue, Nicholas Wilde." He gestured. Nick approached the podium with Judy at his side.
"Mr. Wilde. Mr. Wilde!" They all called out as Nick coolly pointed to a pig reporter. "Mr Wilde! Could you tell us how you found Oshu and Psych's hideout!?"
"Well, was it challenging? Without the right help it would have been, but thankfully some dedicated citizens were able to contribute to us finding where they were." Nick replied with a smile. Judy couldn't help but smile, so proud at how well he handled these.
"Mr Wilde! Is the rumor true that Psych is actually related to you?"
"Rumors are fun aren't they? I don't have anyone in my family named Psych." He played off.
"Miss Hopps! Could you tell us what happened when you were kidnapped?"
"Oh!" Judy took to the microphone. "In pursing Psych, I ended up being ambushed along with Chief Bogo. I was kept chained up in the basement of the mansion until Nick rescued me. It seemed they wanted to use us as leverage to keep the ZPD off their backs."
"Mr. Wilde! One last question. It's believed a few of the gang members have escaped, do you think the ZPD should continue the investigation until they're brought to justice?"
"Are they still a threat? No, our citizens are safe now. However we'll continue to be vigilant should they choose to show themselves in this city again. Our job is to serve and protect, and that's exactly what we're gonna do. No more questions for today fellas." Nick smiled, walking away from the podium. Bogo and Mariah took to it after to give another statement while Nick and Judy walked out the door.
"So glad you went up this time." Judy chuckled.
"Yeah, after your last press conference I felt somewhat inclined to do this one." He quipped. Judy bumped his rear and giggled, heading out to the car.
