Honesty is the Best Policy

NOTE: This story is a follow-up to "My Sister, My Lover" and is the final part of this three part mini-series.

I know you two have been close to each other since you've been little, and I think it's great that you two have such a good relationship, but now that you're living together in the same house, I have to wonder why you decided to do this", Angela began to explain as both Chris and Jillian started to blush.

"Well, Chris and I didn't feel like splitting up after college and we agreed to buy a house together...at least until we found mates of our own", Jillian told her mother, telling a bit of a fib along the way. However, Angela didn't seem to buy it.

"Jillian...I want you and your brother to be honest with me. Are you two having sex together?", Angela asked in a firmer tone, wanting to know the honest answer from her pups.

Something that I think you two should know", Angela added a moment later.

Chris and Jillian listened curiously to their mother, wondering what she had to tell them as Angela let out a sigh and began to explain how the pups came to be. "Do you remember how I told you that your father and I got divorced when you were little?", Angela asked her pups as they continued to listen. Although they were too young at that time to know what was going on, they did know that their mother and father had separated and were told about it years later when they asked why their father wasn't around.

"Of course, Mom. You told us that the relationship just didn't seem to work out between you and Dad, and it led to the two of you going your separate ways", Chris answered his mother, thinking he knew the truth about his parents' relationship. However, Angela had a big surprise for Chris and Jillian.

"That was all a lie...I still love your father, and he still loves me", Angela explained to her pups as their eyes opened wide and their mouths hung wide open. They did not expect to hear that their parents were still romantically involved with each other, and there were a bunch of questions floating around inside their heads. Jillian brought up the first, and most obvious one.

"But Mom, if you and Dad still love each other, why did you two decide to split up?", Jillian asked curiously, once she regained her composure a bit. Angela sighed again, knowing she had an even bigger secret to tell her pups. There was no turning back for her now, she had to tell them the truth.

"We didn't want to, Jillian. However, it wasn't a part of our plan. If we had our way, your father and I would still be living together", Angela began to explain to Chris and Jillian as Chris slowly got over the surprise of learning that their mother and father still loved each other. "You see...I understand exactly how you two feel towards each other. Your father and I felt the same way for each other as well", Angela continued as a thought ran through the back of her mind. "I don't know if I should tell them this. There's no telling what may happen if I do", she thought to herself.

Chris and Jillian continued to listen to their mother as Jillian spoke. "Well, of course we do, Mom. It's only natural for a female to love a male, or vice-versa", Jillian commented as Angela shook her head.

"No, honey. What I meant to say was that I REALLY feel the same way for your father as you do for your brother", Angela told Jillian, trying to clarify what she meant. Jillian seemed to be a bit puzzled after this, not quite understanding what her mother meant by that.

"I don't get it", Jillian answered a few seconds later, still unsure what to make of it. That was when Angela knew she had to tell them everything, no matter how they might react to it.

"Chris...Jillian...the reason why I told you that I know exactly how you two feel about each other is because...", Angela began to tell them as a thought ran through the back of her head. "I guess there's no turning back now.", she thought to herself before finishing her previous sentence after a pause of several seconds. "So...now that you've told us about what you and Dad did, does this mean you two are going to get back together? I mean, I wouldn't know what to do if I had to be separated from my Chrissy", Jillian asked as Angela sighed and felt a bit sheepish.

"I want to...but I don't know if I can. If it were up to us, your father and I would've gotten married for real and we would've raised you two together. However, I don't think people would be too comfortable with the two of us being a couple", Angela told her daughter.

Chris and Jillian felt bad for their mother, especially considering how they knew exactly how she felt. They went over to hug her tightly as Angela held them as well. "Chris...Jillian...promise me that you'll stay together. I don't want you two to end up in the same situation that your father and I got into", Angela told her pups as they nuzzled against their mother and assured her that they'd remain a couple no matter what might happen. With that being said, there was no way that they could actually marry each other, much like how it was with their parents...or, at least so it seemed.

Jillian took her mother's words about the scrolls into consideration and she looked into them a few weeks later while doing an internet search. She found them fairly easily being sold online from the "Familia General Store". Jillian figured that maybe if Chris were to meet another set of twins that were like them that it would convince him to want to stay in Familia.

The next weekend...

Chris and Jillian made the trip to the town of Familia, which had expanded to having over 4,000 permanent residents since it was originally founded. When it was originally founded, Familia was it's own separate town with a neighboring town of Twin Lakes next to it. However, the city government of Twin Lakes was corrupt and nearly drove the town to bankruptcy. It would be later purchased by Independent Entertainment and made a part of Familia. To Chris and Jillian, Familia seemed like a fairly peaceful town as they drove down Diagonal Rd. towards the rental cabins. Located in the woods, Familia had plenty of trees that made it seem more secluded from other towns they drove by to get there. Eventually, they reached Eva Ave., which led to the part of town where the rental cabins were located. They went down the road until they reached the office in where Jillian briefly went inside to pick up their keys. The cabin itself was more than big enough for a couple like Chris and Jillian to live in, if it weren't for the fact that these were merely rental properties. The actual houses that were built since Familia was founded were even nicer than the one they were in.

"They charge 200 UIC Dollars a night for this?!!", Chris exclaimed as he looked around a bit. "This looks like a rather expensive place to live", he added a few moments later as Jillian walked up to her brother and took his hand.

"Relax Chrissy...we're just here for a visit right now. We'll have plenty of time to think about whether or not we want to stay here after we talk to the owners", Jillian commented before nuzzling up against her brother and reaching into his pants, grabbing onto his sheath. "In the meantime, why don't we take advantage of this moment and have some fun? The male fox was the first one to speak. "Welcome to Familia...my sister and I are glad that you two came here for a visit", he mentioned politely to Chris and Jillian. "I hope that you've found your stay here enjoyable thus far", he added as Chris blushed a bit.

"Thank you...but we've only been here for a few hours. We really haven't had a chance to look around town all that much yet", Jillian answered for herself and her brother. "Besides, we really came here because we might be interested in moving in. You see, my brother and I have a special relationship...we both love each other very much and we want to stay together as a couple. You mentioned on your website that marriages are legal here, so we thought we would ask about it", Jillian continued while Chris continued to act sheepish.

"Hey, there's no need to act shy about it. We know exactly how you two feel. Charlene and I have been lovers for about 25 years and we're both happy to have each other as mates", the male fox explained before his sister had something else to add.

"We had to go through a lot in order to finally get the life that we wanted to live, and we wanted to help other couples like us who had special relationships with family members live in peace and happiness", Charlene added.

"Anyway, to answer your question...yes, you and your brother can get married here and the marriage would be considered legal. However, it would only be considered legal within the town limits of Familia...at least for now anyway", the male fox continued. Chris and Jillian seemed a bit puzzled after he mentioned this, wondering how it could be legal to get married in Familia but not legal anywhere else. However, before they could ask any further questions, dinner arrived at the table and any further discussion was tabled until after the couples ate.

After dinner, the couples spent some more time at the table, talking some more with Jillian asking the fox siblings more questions. "So...how is it legal for family members to get married here, but not anywhere else?", she asked.

"Well, Familia was founded under a different set of laws than most other towns are...one that is much more open about letting family members marry if they wanted to. So, while you and your brother may be able to produce healthy offspring, it's possible that if your sons and daughters tried breeding with them later on that it may not work as well. Although it also partially depends on whether or not your family has any history of any hereditary illnesses", Charlene mentioned. "Like my brother said, we don't have to worry about this, because our protection is built into our genes and always gets passed onto any pups we have, but if you really want to make sure it's safe for you to breed together, you could always get tested first", Charlene continued.

"Or...if you and your brother just want to raise a family together without worrying about the effects of inbreeding, I could help put a litter inside of you. I have a stud license and I'm in an open relationship, so I could help you out if you want it", the male fox offered as Jillian blushed in response.

"That's OK, I think I'll pass...it's nothing personal, but if I'm going to have pups the natural way, I'd rather have them with my brother", Jillian quickly answered back as Chris had something he wanted to say.

"Would I be able to have a chance to do the same to your sister?", Chris asked the male fox as Charlene blushed a bit. It wasn't the first time she was approached like this, but it made her feel a bit awkward.

"Charlene rarely has sex with any male she doesn't have an emotional attachment towards. She pretty much saves that for me, or her other mates", the male fox answered.

"If my brother and your sister got to have sex together, I might be willing to let you do it with me while they were busy...but I would not be interested in having pups. I save that for my mates", Charlene added a few moments later.

It seemed as if everyone understood how they all felt about this sort of situation, and it seemed as if each couple was more interested in breeding with their respective twin than breeding the traditional way. However, Jillian did have something else she wanted to mention.

"What if, say you happened to be the offspring of another brother/sister couple...one that you just recently found out about...and had been created using the scrolls you mentioned. Would it be safe for me and Chrissy to breed together", Jillian asked as the two foxes' mouths hung wide open. They had never encountered this situation before for as long as they've been mates...not even with their own pups (at least not yet).

"In that case, I strongly recommend that you two get tested for compatability before you attempt breeding", Charlene commented a few seconds later. "You want to make sure that any pups you may have with your brother are healthy, and like I said earlier, the scrolls can lose effectiveness with each inbred generation", Charlene added.

After having dinner with the owners and getting some more information about Familia, Chris and Jillian returned to their cabin just as it was starting to get dark outside.
