Love Can Always Change
#2 of True Love Chronicles
In a continuation to Love At First Sight, Gawain has been left to explore the ruins on his own after a confrontation with his superior officer. His roaming around leads to another amazing find, but unlike the first time when he opens Pandora's Box it will have a far more profound effect on the entire team.
Commission for Chivalier
Gawain slowly wiped the tears from his eyes as he navigated through the ruins of the ancient human facility that had been their excavation site for the last few months. The boar had already reached one of the lowest layers that he or his team had accessed during their salvage, and when he did he once more stumbled upon a single cryogenic capsule. Unlike the last time though the door was open and the contents of it were currently with the rest of his team up at the campsite. It was also the reason that he was down there now and why he was alone.
About a month ago they had cracked open the capsule to discover the find of a lifetime; one of the last human beings in the entire world, not only perfectly preserved but actually alive. Their species and civilization had went extinct over two hundred years ago, replaced by the anthros that they had created that picked up where they left off. The human called himself Connor and suffered from memory and vision loss, but their entire team hoped that they could solve both problems and bring him back to the capital for further study. He had been the one good chance to study humanity... unfortunately that chance was lost when he had grown fond of an armadillo lizard named Ulrin, who was their cultural archeologist, and had somehow transformed into him after they had mated one another.
Of course that brought in a whole new flurry of questions from the entire group, specifically the mechanisms that had caused the change and if it was something that perhaps happened to everyone else. Had their ancestors been human and were changed by some virus into anthros, and then the history of such an event was scrubbed away like Connor's memory had been? It seemed possible, especially since Connor had also gained the boar's tusks as well after the two had kissed in the tent, which was before the lizardman walked in on them and the human had insisted on making amends. Though he hadn't been bitter about the fact the human had decided to be with Ulrin he, like several others in the team, was extremely disappointed that they would not be bringing back a fully human specimen with them.
Or was he bitter? Gawain asked himself as he kicked one of the pieces of stone that littered the floor of the cryogenic chamber. He kept trying to tell himself he wasn't, but after some rather heated disputes with the wolf pack that made up the rest of the security force the alpha had told him to leave for a while to go and cool down. It took a while of walking to realize that he had in fact been angry, though for what reason still alluded him as he made his way past the cryogenic chamber and into the archives vault.
The vault was one of the places that he knew he would be alone because it was one of the first places that they had scoured, only to find nothing of use there. The computers were all dead due to lack of power and even if they could somehow turn them on Marco explained that the age of everything would have caused significant component and data corruption. Gawain sighed and sat down in one of the chairs, only to have it break underneath him and cause him to hit the ground in a cloud of dust. "Well that was just what I needed..." the boar grumbled to himself as he laid there in the remains.
As he started to pick himself up however something caught the corner of the security guard's eye and he turned his head to see a blinking red light underneath a collapsed desk. Once he had picked himself up and brushed himself off he went over and began to pull off the debris. It was tough work and by the end of it he could feel rivulets of sweat run through his bristled fur and under his jumpsuit, but after he picked up a particularly large piece of ceiling the fruit of his labors was revealed. Underneath everything was a black metal box with yellow and black stripes around the edges and along with the blinking red light there were several more that were either lit or dark. Across the top of the box there was something written on it in the dead human language, and though his time with Connor and Ulrin had increased his proficiency in the language it wasn't enough for him to be able to read it.
"Hey Marco, you able to come to the archive room?" Gawain asked over the radio, though he had made sure to use the private channel so no one else could hear him. "There's something we missed in the initial sweep that I think you might find interesting."
*************************************
About half an hour later Gawain saw the lanky fox with his set of tools and goggles on, his tail swished about in excitement as he asked where the newfound tech might be. The boar was more than happy to lead him to the uncovered box, and before he knew it their engineer had begun to plug various wires and other devices into it. "Looks like you found us a black box," Marco explained as he pulled out a small laptop and began to type into it. "Something that the humans wanted to make sure survived any type of apocalyptic scenario... a lot like the one that probably happened to them."
"Well yeah, but why didn't we see it in our initial sweep?" Gawain asked. "It wasn't exactly hard to see and I'm sure we would have come across it considering how deep we scoured the area for any visible things such as this. Plus I thought you said that there was no power in the room, so how does it even have any lights in the first place?"
"Whoa, slow down there buddy," the fox replied as he held up a hand. "It's probably connected to the cryogenics chamber somehow, but I won't be able to tell you until I can run a diagnostic on the information and then see if I can actually extract anything." The boar sighed and nodded as the fox continued to work. "By the way I heard you butted heads with the alpha today, and while I don't always agree with our fearless leader arguing with a pack of lupines like that is a surefire way to get yourself kicked off his expedition."
Gawain ran his hands through his short hair and looked down in frustration. "I know what I did wasn't right," the boar admitted. "I just didn't think we were going about this whole human thing the right way. I mean I know that Connor and Ulrin couldn't have anticipated that he was going to turn into a lizard if they had sex, but I know that more of the team than just myself was frustrated they weren't more careful in something like that."
"Well I'm more of a tech man myself but I can understand what you're saying," Marco admitted as he plugged in yet another device. "I mean just the notoriety alone on a find like that would have opened up a whole new realm of ruin salvaging for us, I mean I bet we could have gotten a skyscraper job or one of those power plant contracts but- hold on... looks like I'm getting something. Ah, now I see, the black box activated when we opened the cryogenic chamber. No wonder we didn't find it on our first sweep."
The two watched as the file data downloaded into the fox's computer, which once it was complete he used his holographic display so they could both see what was on there. The first thing that popped up on the screen was Connor's face, which surprised neither of them since he was the one in the pod in the first place. As more and more information came up though their faces turned from fascination to confusion, though for much of it Gawain's reaction was delayed due to the translation that Marco had to do for most of it. One particular word that neither of them knew until the fox looked it up in their translation were words with 'xeno' attached to them, though when they figured it out it only caused them both to scratch their heads.
"So I guess Connor was some sort of Xenobiologist?" Marco wondered as he continued pull up data files. "A lot of this stuff is beyond even my translation abilities... looks pretty scientific. Oh wait, here's an audio log, maybe that'll be a little easier to decipher then all of this. Just give me a second to pull it up here."
"It's a shame his memories didn't come back with his sight," Gawain mused as he waited for the fox to finish. "Even though he changed physically the knowledge that he had would have been just as invaluable as his form, maybe even moreso. Maybe we could use this stuff to jog his memory, I mean heck he could even be the one on this audio log."
After about a minute the holographic screen changed and they saw a file marked 'audio log' as it began to play for them. "My name is Dr. Stephanie Brown, and this is day one-hundred and fifty three of our experimentation, and day one inside this new facility," a female voice began to say. "We decided to move here after the test subject awakened and we needed more space to study. So far it's been kept in isolation after it was found in the crash, but now that we can interact with it hopefully we can set up some basis of communication that will allow us to find out where it came from or why it's here. Once we get settled in testing will resume, but we are honestly having trouble holding in our excitement until then. I just can't believe it... alien life, and we get to study it."
When the audio file end both anthros looked at each other in slight surprise. "So Connor was studying an alien?" Gawain thought out loud. "Maybe that's why he can't remember-"
"Shhh!" Marco interrupted as he held up a hand to the boar. "I found another one!"
"This is Dr. Stephanie Brown, and what I'm about to say... well, even I can't believe that I'm saying it!" the female voice exclaimed excitedly. "It's was Connor's first day attempting to communicate with it while in the same room, and the second he touched its hand somehow the alien changed its shape to look exactly like him! Not only that but after only a few hours of interaction it learned about twenty words of our language. The progress is remarkable, and its ability to change form makes an already amazing find even more breathtaking. Strangely when it copied him it seemed to have copied everything, even Connor's blindness, but hopefully when we continue to talk to him we can find the source."
The two were awestruck and Marco quickly went to work to dig up more files. The second he found one he played it and they listened to Stephanie as she talked about all their research developments with the alien creature. Unfortunately they didn't seem to have all of them, but they still got the general idea. While they were fascinated by the treasure trove of new information Gawain in particular was thankful for it; not only was it a welcome distraction but it also served as potentially something that could smooth things over with the rest of the team. After a few hours Marco sadly revealed that they had reached the last of the audio logs, and though it saddened them that their audio journey was about to end they were also curious on what information such an important log could have... maybe even some insight on what happened to humanity at its end.
"This is Dr. Stephanie Brown, and unfortunately this is going to be my last log for a while," the voice that the two had grown familiar with began. "Connor and I are being called to Central in order to provide a briefing on how our project is going, as if our constant reports we send to them aren't enough. After a lot of discussion we decided to place the alien in a cryogenic pod for the duration of the trip; though it has made significant progress we aren't sure if it's enough to leave alone for a significant duration of time, especially since contact with other humans seems to trigger its chameleon ability... and it appears that he seems to be very amorous to anyone who even looks at it in an aroused state and we'd rather not come back to an orgy. We think that it's part of its chameleon reflex, mimicking whomever he happens to be interacting with as far as an emotional response to put what its reflecting at ease. In any case we were able to communicate the situation to the alien and it also agreed, so Connor will place the specimen in cold storage while I prepare everything. Hey, at least it's only for a week, could be worse."
The log ended there, but the words seemed to continue to linger as both boar and fox just stared into empty space while their minds had processed what they had just been told. They had just assumed that the thing they found in the cryogenic pod was Dr. Connor, but from the sound of it they had been interacting with a shapeshifting alien that had assumed his form. Since it was the original Connor that had done the preparations, they began to discuss, it made sense then that it was his name that was on the computer. But the biggest question that the two had was what they would do with the information, especially where their Connor was concerned.
"I think... I think we need to go full disclosure on this one," Marco finally said, which caused Gawain to frown at the fox. "Look I know you care about Connor, but this is something way beyond the realm of finding a human. I mean, think about it, is it more impressive that our team finds a surviving human that was mysteriously changed, or an alien creature that no one's even heard of before?"
"I know, I know..." Gawain sighed. "I just... what's going to happen when we reveal to Connor that everything he thinks he knows about himself turns out to be false? He's going to have to relearn his identity for a second time... and we still don't know that this is the alien, maybe when they got back the woman didn't make any more logs but the alien and the human switched places."
"You can't possibly be serious," the fox scowled, which only deepened when Gawain shrugged.
"I just don't want to do all this on a whim and find out later we were wrong."
"Fine, then why don't we test him?" Marco suggested. "From what we've gathered the alien's chameleon ability is based on sustained touch and only seems to trigger when it's in an 'extremely excitable state'. So why don't we go to Connor, get him riled up when one of us is touching him, and then see what happens? If he doesn't change then we know that your theory is correct, but if he does start to change we know for certain that we have a real alien on our hands!"
To Marco's surprise the boar glared at him as he put his arms up in an x-pattern and shook his head. "Absolutely not!" he shouted. "I will talk to Ulrin later about this, and until then we don't approach Conner at all. I think that the lizard at least has a right to know who's sharing his bed as well as a say in deciding how to break it to him. You can tell the alpha about our find but don't show him the audio logs, he's going to want to know what we were doing down here but doesn't even speak the human language so we should be fine on that front."
Before Marco could say another word Gawain stormed off for the second time that day and left the fox alone, his arms crossed as he looked down at the datapad with the information on it. "Sorry Gawain, not this time," he said before he shut the pad and locked it. "Your little love affair isn't going to stand between me and a shot at a huge dig, not this time..."
***************************************************
Ulrin and Connor sat back and ate dinner together in their private tent, the hammock that the two armadillo lizards shared waved steadily back and forth. Ever since their profession of love towards each other they had spent as much time together as possible, though most of that was work related as Ulrin continued his anthological studies while Connor tagged along to help as best he could. Though he still didn't have any personal memories he could see things and explain to the other lizard what they were which shaved a lot of time off of their catalogue time. Even with his help however the two spent all of their days and some of their night out in the ruins, which meant that they would often sneak off to their tent whenever they could even if it was for a chance to share food with one another.
"So from the sound of it the excavation is only going to last another week?" Connor asked as he took a particularly large piece of shrimp and fed it to the other lizard male.
Ulrin grinned and snapped up the seafood, then swallowed it before he started to speak. "Well we're already three weeks over the allotted time that we were supposed to be out here," he explained. "Honestly no one expected a find such as yourself or the tech around you out in this area. It was only because of the cryogenics technology that the alpha was able to extend our stay as long as he did."
"So finding a human was a moot point for them?" Connor replied with feigned disappointment.
"Well that would have actually gotten us pulled earlier from the excavation," Ulrin shot back as he tapped Connor on the nose. "But now that you look like one of us they didn't see the point in such a thing anymore. Probably a good thing, who knows what they would have done once they had their collective claws in you. Us having sex probably saved your life, you should be thanking me."
Connor laughed and tossed several noodles onto Ulrin's muzzle, who eagerly slurped them up. The two continued to talk and eat until they were interrupted by the sound of someone knocking against the tent flap. When Ulrin told them to come in Gawain pushed his head into the door and asked if he could speak to Ulrin in private. At first the armadillo lizards looked at each other, but it wasn't long after that Ulrin nodded and got up off of the hammock. The boar's head disappeared back outside the tent and the lizard did the same, though he set down his bowl of food and blew a kiss to Connor before he fully emerged out into the open.
Before Ulrin could say or ask anything however Gawain quickly prompted him to travel further away from the tent and the group in general, prompting the scaled creature to eye him with slight suspicion before he followed. Once they were in one of the abandoned cloisters near the campsite Gawain finally spoke up to the confused reptile. "I'm sorry about all the subterfuge but I didn't want Connor to accidently be able to hear us," the boar revealed. "There's something that I really need to talk to you about that concerns him."
"Listen, Gawain, I heard from the alpha what happened earlier between you two," Ulrin admitted. "I'm sorry that you felt so strongly about the events that transpired but you know that I couldn't know that this would happen when we unfroze Connor from the pod. I'm really hoping that we could continue to be friends, but if not then I can understand and after this week we'll be going our separate ways anyway."
"No, it's not about that!" Gawain nearly shouted before he lowered his voice once more. "Well, okay, it's a little bit about that, but not in the way that you think. I admit my anger got the better of me and I was still sore that Connor picked you over me, but while I was done in the archives room I found something that changes everything!"
Gawain went on to describe everything that he and Marco had looked at for the last few hours, which included the audio logs that revealed Connor to potentially be a shapeshifting alien instead of a human. Ulrin's frown deepened into a scowl and looked at the boar in disapproval, and for a while the two argued about the logistics about how such a thing came to be. After a while though the lizard's muzzle went from a frown to confusion, then finally to a look of worry as the boar finished his argument. Ulrin bit into one of his claws as he looked back where they had come from and the tent that he and Connor shared in dismay.
For a while the two stood there in the silence of the room, the only sound being from the boisterous crew members that were still gathered around the fire pit. "I don't like this..." Ulrin finally stated. "If this really is true, if Connor really is... an alien, then there's no way we're going to be able to keep his condition in the dark. I've already been spinning my wheels trying to think of how we are going to explain how we found a human only to have them transform into an anthro, but there's no way I can slide a shapeshifting alien past the Archivist Council."
"Ulrin, I'm so sorry," Gawain lamented. "I wish that I had never found that black box, or at the very least that Marco didn't find anything off of it."
The boar started to look down when he felt a hand press against his chest and looked up to see Ulrin had stared directly at him. "Marco knows about this too?" the lizard asked, which Gawain responded with a short nod. "Where is he right now?"
Meanwhile Connor sighed and poked at his food, even though it had only been a few minutes after the other lizard had left he was annoyed at their personal time being cut into. He dared not say anything though, especially with the way that the boar looked at them before he summoned Ulrin to come outside the tent. After only about a minute or two the tusked lizard saw a shadow move to the entrance to the tent. "Well that was quick-" Connor started to say until he saw Marco's vulpine head poke through the flap. "Oh Marco, sorry, thought you might have been someone else."
"Yeah, quite a bit of that going around it seems," the fox replied as he stepped inside the tent with a slight smirk. "Hey Connor, I was just wondering if perhaps with all the exposure that you've had with the ruins you might remember something from your old life? Especially now that your blindness seems to have been cured. Quite the stroke of good fortune I might add, your condition reversing like that when you changed."
"You wouldn't believe my thankfulness that whatever changed me restored my vision," Connor explained. "Not only that, but also for all the help the rest of you gave me, both before and after my change. When you guys first released me from the cryogenic pod I didn't know how I was going to live, but now I have friends, a purpose, and a lover to boot. I just wish I could smooth things over with Gawain... that's where Ulrin is, in case you were here looking for him."
Marco merely nodded and sat down next to the unassuming male, watching the lizard subconsciously tense up when he did. "You look extremely tense Connor," the fox cooed as he put a hand on Connor's shoulder. "I know that this whole thing with Gawain and Ulrich is stressing you out, so I thought that I would offer my services. Before I trained as a ruin tech engineer I was a masseur to help pay my way through college. They say that I have magic fingers you know, it could really help you relax."
Connor looked at Marco in question, but shrugged and laid down on his stomach of the tent floor. He was almost immediately chided by the other male and was told that he would have to strip down in order for him to work. Before the lizard could say anything he felt the smaller hands of the fox slip under his vest and pulled it off, which exposed his bare scales to the cool air. The same was quickly done with his pants and underwear as well, and though he wasn't sure it was proper the fox gave him a nearby towel to cover up in. Though the covering was enough for modesty he still felt unsure about the whole thing as he laid back down on his muscular chest.
The fox managed to restrain a murr as he looked down at the fine specimen of a male before him, but though he was aroused he managed to hold it together enough to focus on the mission at hand. He placed his hands on the scales of Connor's back and heard a groan from beneath him as he began to kneed the muscles there. Beneath the towel Marco could see the thick tail begin to wag despite itself, which made him smile as he continued his ministrations. It didn't take long for the evidence of Connor's true identity to emerge; along the armadillo lizard's spine fine orange hairs just like his own began to spout and thicken.
"That's it... just relax and let me help you," Marco purred as he continued to watch the lizard shift under his paws. He concentrated his efforts on his spine, which seemed to change the fastest, and as Connor wiggled slightly under his grasp a thick mane of orange-red fur quickly grew completely down his back. Fascinated with the changes Marco followed the spine all the way to the tail, where the trail of fur continued to follow the spine until it reached the tip. As his hands rubbed against the tip of the thick appendage the fur there grew even longer until the armadillo lizard had a thick fluff on the end of it.
Marco just looked at the transformation in wonder, his hand carefully combed through the thick fluff until he felt Connor's body shift under him. "Hey, what's going on up there?" Connor asked as he lifted his head and caused the fox to drop the tail. "You alright Marco?"
"Ah yeah, just for reptiles I know how many muscles are in... your tail," Marco floundered slightly, though thankfully for him his prey was in a relaxed enough state not to notice. "If you don't mind I would like to work on your upper body now, specifically your head and neck. I know your new species can get a lot of muscle tension there."
Connor merely shrugged in response and put his arms under his head to give the fox a better angle, Marco's hands trembling slightly as he reached for it. The fox had an idea of what was going to happen when he did what he was about to, but there was still a pit of anxiety in his stomach. Nevertheless he reached out and pressed his hands against the lizard's skull and felt it begin to shift almost as soon as he had begun to touch it. His eyes widened in shock as the normally smooth sides of Connor's head began to push upwards until two lumps formed underneath Marco's paws. As he stroked the growing features he realized that they were a rather large set of vulpine ears, and though the edges and insides were lined with fur the back still had scales on them.
"That feels... weird," Connor said and before Marco could say anything he sat up and reached up to his head, his muzzle twisted in panic when he felt the strange new ears twitch under his touch. "Marco... Marco what the hell is this?! What's happening to me?!"
Connor started to stand up to rush out of the tent but before he could Marco grabbed him by the shoulders and kept him down on the floor. Despite Connor being far stronger he found himself still sitting there, his breathing still quick as Marco looked him dead in the eyes. "Connor, listen to me and stop freaking out," the fox said as calmly as he could. "We know what you are, you're more than just some human! Gawain and I found out what you are and what you can do and I have to say that it's absolutely fascinating."
The armadillo lizard looked at the fox in confusion, which caused Marco's expression to grow even more shocked. "You... really don't remember, do you?" Marco asked. "It must have been the stasis chamber, or maybe the fact that you spent so long in human form. In either case you probably have no idea what's happening to you... or why you're probably feeling the way you are. At least that's what I'm guessing from the tent you're currently sporting there."
The confused male sat up on the floor and looked down at himself, or more importantly at the erection he sported underneath it. Without thinking he took the towel off and realized that all seven inches of his maleness was as hard as rock. When Connor looked up again he saw Marco grinning at him like an idiot. "You see... even though your brain doesn't know it your body knows exactly what's going on." The fox said as he grabbed the lizard's erection and began to stroke it, which caused Connor's clawed toes to curl. "It's your instinct, mimicking everything that your partner is both physically and emotionally... including their lusts."
Marco watched as Connor continued to look at both himself and the fox in confusion, though Connor's hands made no movement in order to stop the amorous advances. When it looked like his theory was correct the fox gingerly snaked his way between Connor's legs and licked it from shaft to tip. The lizard bucked slightly under the stimulation of the sensitive flesh and it only spurred Marco on even further. Soon the entirety of Connor's cock was inside the vupline's maw, head bobbing up and down as a low moan escaped from the lizard's scaly lips.
Much to Connor's surprise as Marco continued to lick and suck he could feel it begin to go even deeper into the fox's maw. With every slurp upward it seemed to cause it to grow even longer then it was before, which only caused the male between his legs to grow eager. By the time Marco finally drew off of it the saliva-coated flesh it was almost ten inches in length now and thicker than before. When Connor looked at Marco he just grinned and nodded, then stood up and undid his pants. Connor's eyes went wide when he saw what laid between the fox's legs was an exact duplicate to what now jutted up between his own scaly thighs, though he didn't get to see it long as Marco straddled the prone lizard with his legs.
"You know, I've been thinking..." Marco grinned as he sat up and rubbed the lizard's new cock against his furry cheeks. "The group could always use a fox more than a lizard, and I would love to have a boy toy of my own." Connor's hips arched upwards as Marco pushed down, spreading open the tight ring of muscle under his tail as he grunted with the feel of what was essentially his own maleness inside of him. "I bet with all that pleasure coursing through your veins I could just make you believe whatever I want... that you're a strong fox with a need to dominate, or even better perhaps I'll make you a subby fox that's a total slave to my desires..."
As Marco began to slide up and down the other male's cock he failed to hear the tent flap open, nor the sound of a very angry boar until it got right up behind him. "Get off him!" Gawain shouted as Marco was pulled off with a yelp by the larger, stronger male. The two nearly toppled backwards as Ulrin looked on at the entire scene in shock, the partially transformed armadillo lizard stared out blankly as the boar wrestled with a half-naked fox. It wasn't long though before Gawain got Marco to his feet while in an arm bar and began to push him towards the door.
"Connor, how could you?" Ulrin asked, which seemed to knock Connor out of his daze enough to look at his boyfriend with a bewildered expression.
"It's not his fault Ulrin, he is an alien after all!" Marco yelled as he passed by Ulrin. "It's part of his nature, he just can't remember it, I was trying to help him realize that." The fox looked backwards up at Gawain as his expression grew more manic, his feet slid against the tent floor as he started to laugh. "He could have been yours Gawain, if you hadn't been such a wuss and let him go you'd be sharing the tent with another boar instead of Ulrin sharing it with an armadillo lizard! I just wanted to see if it would work!"
Gawain unceremoniously dumped the fox outside the tent and kicked him in the rear for good measure, then closed the flap while Ulrin helped Connor up. Ulrin stroked Connor's cheek with one hand while his other rubbed at one of the scale-covered ears in awe. The three looked at each other with a mixture of shared embarrassment and awkwardness before Gawain spoke up that he would leave. To all their surprise Connor shot up and asked him to stay, then told the other two to have a seat as he got his clothes back on.
"Guys... I just want to say this right now that I'm sorry I let Marco get to me like that," Connor apologized. "I don't know what happened to me, first he was spouting off something about being an alien and then before I knew it we were having sex. The worst part is I was beginning to enjoy it... and the longer he kept talking to me... I just..."
Ulrin got up and hugged the sobbing hybrid fox-lizard and comforted him the best he could as Gawain rubbed his head with his hands. "Connor, I should be the one to say that I'm sorry," the boar spoke up. "I didn't realize that Marco was capable of such a thing, otherwise I would have kept a better eye on him after we found the data logs in the Archives. I'll go inform the alpha about his behavior so that he can be punished accordingly, you two... you get resettled, I'm sure there are a lot of talking that you two have."
The boar gave the two one last look, then walked out of the tent. The two lizards sat back down on the hammock, but this time they weren't cuddled together as neither male made eye contact with one another. "Sorry... your food has gotten cold by now," Connor mentioned passively.
"I don't care about that," Ulrin replied as he grabbed Connor by the cheeks and turned his head towards him. "I don't care about that, or that you are an alien, or that you can shapeshift. All I care about is you."
"But what Marco said..." Connor sniffled.
"Well let me ask you this," Ulrin quickly retorted. "When you two were... you know, did you have the same feelings of love for him that you do for me?" Connor quickly shook his head, to which Ulrin smiled. "See? You can tell the difference."
The mood lightened between the two and with the tension passed the two moved on to Connor's new vulpine features. "I can't believe Marco actually was trying to turn me into a fox," Connor managed to muster up a smile. "He was coming along too, look at all these new adornments. Luckily we're going to have a fun time getting me back to my old self."
"I don't know, they're kind of cute," Ulrin chuckles, rubbing on the ear which caused them to twitch. "It sort of gives you a new, unique body, something for a fresh start. Like Gawain's tusks on you, and you managed to keep them. Perhaps we could do same... and if we don't like it, well, you can always change."
