Chapter 5: What fun is walking without some danger?
Our walking was down the main street of town, named main street, of course, all around us birds are singing and the sound of light traffic on a Saturday morning, the honking of borns every so often is heard. I thought about what to talk about with Alex that wouldn't cause him to shut down on me again like he did in the diner, so I tried.
"So ,,," I started not sure what else to say, " Do you know who raised Connor?" I tried loving to know my doggie's past before we we're matched last year.
Our walking had come to a stop as Alex thought about the question.
"Actually I think I did, that's why Connor was a bit nuts earlier." Alex replied. He was talking about when we where walking to the diner, with Connor trying to jump and hug Alex at every intersection we came too.
I smiled knowing this wonderful guy raised my Connor, the dog who's change my life and in some ways helped me meet Alex, the guy I w hoped to build something with. just had to help Alex break out of his shell a bit more. I took hold of the handle of the harness and gave the forward command, as Connor took off like a shot, thinking to try and get me to go to the big pet store just on the next corner. I heard Alex running to keep up with us, in a bit of a continuing run beside us as Connor and I walked. As we came up on a intersection, Connor stopped quickly and then body blocked me, which means his whole body blocked me from continuing any forward movement, as he gave a low growl in the back of his throat.
"What are you doing Connor?" I asked unsure at what he was doing, " Alex what's up with Connor?"
Soon Alex catched up with us, I felt him beside me with heavy breathing -
"THere's a really nice car up on the curb blocking the intersection," He explained, "It looks like one I've seen before."
the sound of evil laughter seemed to come out of nowhere of the sound all around us.
"Hey faggits are you having fun?" came Jonathan's voice, from what I could now tell was from the direction of the car, that he was still inside of.
"Now what do you want?" I asked, just about ready to shout at him, I felt Alex grab my hand holding it tightly.
"Roe, let's just go. Please." Alex said with a pleading Tone in his voice.
I heard the door open and heavy footsteps on the sidewalk coming towards us, all the while I stood there protectively infront of Alex. I heard Alex whimper behind me in fear.
"Oh god !" Alex suddenly screamed in my ear, "He has something in his hand,"
" I just don't get it, how can someone as weak as you have any kind of pull in the student body," I heard the flick of a opening pocket knife.
"Roe! It's a knife, a really big knife!" Alex screamed, holding me tighter . Connor's growls got louder. I hear the wind being cut, as Alex says something, " its coming from the right,"
Not really having time to think I block the attack from my right as I try to disarm him, grabbing at his wrist and twisting, hearing the knife fall to the ground.
"fuck you Roen!" Jonathan yells, I hear him come at me again, with what I don't know, unless.
"He's has another one Roe! On the left!" Alex once amore yelled.
Once more I waited til the last moment, and grabbed his wrist and twisted, disarming him and another curse follows
The sound of a siren soon fills my ears overwhelming as it got closer. as it came to a stop.
"Our local sheriff was at the wheel, I could hear his heavy body exiting the kreuser.
"So what seems to be the problem here? I got a call about a blind kid and his friend getting attacked outside of the corner store." came his question in in the classic southern tone of his voice. He came closer to us, "Hey Roen, and is that the Sage boy, by god - what's happened to the Orlein boy there?"
"Well sheriff, he was going at us with a pocket knife." shouted Alex, I could still feel him shaking behind me.
"Hmm, I see, Well this OrLein boy been in some trouble lately don't think his parents want to get him out of jail again." he replied, as I heard handcuffs come out and then snap into place around the wrist of Jonathan..
"You damn fags, I'll get you for this!" Jonathan yelled at us, I could hear his struggles against the sherriffs grip.
I smiled as as I heard "Watch your head now." and then the door slam shut on Jonathan's freedom.
"So... Alex sweetie, do you want to continue our day long date?" I asked as I checked the time on my iPhone 5, it it took us a hour to make our statements and have paperwork done at the station until we were aloud to leave and continue our date.
Didn't know dating you would be so intresting, Roe." He said shyly, with a little sigh.
"Well of course it would be, its not like I'm a blind cop or starship captain.." I replied, "though both would be really fun - if we could see the stars and meet other races."
I hugged Alex too me, and whispered into a ear, "Alex ... let's go have an a venture!"!
With that we left the Police Station and set off on our venture.
