Always Bet On The Grey

Partially written Western story. A little darker and plot based.

The callused paw of Jamie Hawthorn clutched convulsively at the half empty beer glass every time the door opened to the Brushwood Saloon. Every time a shadow fell upon his vision he shied away piteously. Earlier his friend Andy had clasped him on the shoulder greatly startling the canine. The poor Blue Healer was a nervous wreck and ordered two more beers to calm himself down. The agent had said the bounty hunter would meet him here tonight, and that's the only person Jamie really wanted to meet.

The acrid and sour smell of old beer assaulted his sensitive nose every time he inhaled. The beer was sour, but it was doing the job of calming the poor canine down. He'd reached out to the agent as his last hope. His friends meant well, but when the chips were down and you were facing “Angel," well, suddenly you had fewer good friends than you thought. “Um…Jamie we're more like Acquaintances really Um, maybe more like we just met, I'm going over here now….ah….yah."

And what kind of name is “Angel" for the biggest, meanest thug in Brushwood? Angel? More like Devil,. The huge Holstein bull ruled the town, and it's denizens with an iron hoof. And the Territory Rangers? They knew trouble when they saw it, and ten dollars a month wasn't enough for them to try to pull their revolvers on the huge bull.

If I'd known then what I'd have known now, I would have stayed in the army…

The war was over, the North won, and he'd decided to head “out west" with the Wagon trains. All wagon masters needs ranger, and Corporal Jamie Hawthorn was a good one. He was able to track the cattle and get them in line, find lost pups and kits, and even calm the feral horses. The one thing he wasn't good at was business.

One hundred and fifty acres of the hardest clay you'd ever seen, with water fifty feet down. It had taken him a year to clear the land alone, even with help. His meager earnings he'd saved up from his time in the army had gone to hired hands. Silent rough furs who would show up on time, do the work asked, and take their payment. Jamie had no idea how to hire such folks, but the local business man Randell “Angel" Ferguson knew. He'd heard Jamie's story over beer, invited the pup over to his offices right then, and the contracts for labor were signed. It had taken six months of spending hard earned cash he had before he realized he'd need a loan. And again, he'd found one in “Angel."

Jamie took a sip of the sour beer, grimacing at the taste. His paws began to shake. He'd faced soldiers on the battle field. Cannons blazing to his rear, bullets from the muskets whizzing past his ears, and once through his left ear, now almost only a nub on his head. He'd stood at Bunker Hill. But he hadn't….

The bell jingled in the dry evening air as Jamie craned to look at the newcomer through the dim lantern light. It was just the local grocer. Jamie sighed at the taste on the wind. A storm was coming. Which was a blessing and a curse. It meant rain for his crops, which needed it. It meant he'd be able to feed his cattle on the government leased land next to his instead of wasting his land on feed. It also meant the bounty hunter might not be coming.

Jamie downed the rest of the sour beer and signaled to the panther bartender for another. “Are you sure Corp? You've already had three." The cat polished a glass and sat it down leaning forward. Jamie nodded licking his lips. “Yeah, I need it. My ah, rent is due Silas and well..."

Even the feline knew what this meant. You paid money, or you paid in other ways. Territory laws being what they are, there were some fast and loose laws out here as to what kind of payment you could make. You couldn't sell people into slavery, but you could sell your property, your belongings, or…..yourself into a kind of indentured servitude called “Services Rendered." Some people called it a job. It was anything but. Last month Jamie had to pay with “Services Rendered" to Angle. He gestured at Silas who poured the beer from the barrel tap and handed it over. “On the house pup." The feline said with a grim look. “You'll need it."

The beer trickled down the dark fur of his chin as he tried to down the beer in one go, the funky liquid slightly staining his shirt. Why had he signed those documents without reading them? His mother would have been furious knowing what her pup had done, but the smooth talking muscular bull was all smiles. Since then Jamie had learned that smiles don't necessarily mean kindness. As they saying goes “the snake smiles before he bites."

Lightning struck a nearby water tank deafening Jamie and causing him to choke on his beer. A blast of cold wind blew through the one open window and all of the patrons sighed with relief save one. Jamie quavered on his barstool and slowly slumped down laying his muzzle in his arms, staring at the half empty beer.

He's not going to make it. Foreman's Ford is going to be flowing soon, and that will be it, I'll have to pay in....some other way....

Silas began busily opening the other windows and the saloon door to let the cool monsoon breeze in. Most people slept in the afternoons here and only ventured out at night. A heavy coat of fur and you were seeing black spots on the hottest day if you weren't ready for the heat.

Slowly like rocks falling from the sky, fat drops of rain began to hammer down on the saloon's tin roof, a cacophony and signal that the rain was going to start rough, then settle in for an all-night pour. The pup slumped off his stool and stared around. A good few furs milled about, but wherever he went, there was a decided shuffling of bodies. A social telegraph indicating to all that Corporal Jamie Hawthorn, owner of Rocking H Ranch, was very definitely not welcome. In fact they didn't even know him. A few who Jamie had thought were pretty good friends avoided him altogether. The other blue healer, Jake, was studiously eating a meal in one corner and doing everything he could to avoid Jamie's stare.

The tears started then, and the memory:

**

“Ah, yes, Corporal Hawthorn, so nice to see you, and what can I do for you?" The huge Holstein said genially sitting at his huge oaken desk overlooking main street below. Jamie had been impressed at his size. A good Seven foot wall of beef, arms like tree branches, and legs like the oak trunks. The horns were polished smooth with sharpened golden tips, and his nose ring was no mere steel or silver thin gauge, no it was a thick solid gold tooled piece of art studded with a few diamonds. He cut quite the figure. His offices also were about as impressive. Green leather chair, huge oaken desk with a couple of chairs for clients or visitors to sit in, a few tasteful pieces of real European art on the wall, and a very ornate oriental rug brought in from San Francisco.

The wealth and tastefulness of the office and the demeanor of the proprietor “Angel" made Jamie feel incredibly grubby. He had toyed with the idea of pulling his formal uniform out of the cedar trunk to wear to this meeting since it was the only fine clothing he owned, but had decided not to. He was regretting his decision somewhat but pushed on.

“Mr. Ferguson, I'm here about the past due rent?" Jamie took a seat in one of the chairs opposite the desk. He whisked his leather hat off and set it on the floor, hoping the sweat wouldn't stain the carpet. He folded his hands as he stared at the bovine.

“Indeed Jamie?" Angel said gently leaning back in his chair, taking out a bottle from somewhere and pouring two crystal glasses of dark liquid. “Please, have a drink, there's no need to fear. It's Frenet from San Francisco. It can take some getting used to, but I hear it's all the rage there." The dark green cordial was passed into his unresisting paw. The liquid smelled faintly of liquorice reminding him of the days in Indiana when he would be able to get some at the local store and enjoy a piece or two with his dad. He sipped gently. The liquid was a cordial, and quite strong, but Angel only downed his quickly and poured another downing it.

The canine shrugged and downed the thick cordial letting it burn all the way down. The alcohol would calm his nerves and he took another eagerly. The taste took him back to simpler times back home.

“What can I do for you about the rent? I do hope it won't be late, my investors don't like waiting." Angel said smoothly taking a third drink and pouring a third for Jamie. The stopper clinked slightly as it was put back into the bottle.

The blue healer was feeling calmer now with the warm glow of alcohol calming him. His left ear had stopped itching as it did ever since it had been mangled by that bullet. “Well that's the thing sir, I haven't been able to sell the cattle yet, and my crops won't be in until fall. I was hoping for a line of credit or…."

“Nonsense!" The bull roared genially standing up and looking out the large windows. He leaned forward and the taught white business shirt strained against his shoulders. Jamie could see the well-muscled legs flex as the bovine stretched and yawned. “See all this?"

Jamie cocked his head to the side. “Um….all of what Mr. Ferguson?" He stood and walked over to the other side of the desk to look out the window. The town was almost asleep in this late summer heat. A lone equine rider trotted down the street on his own feral horse. A family came out of the general store filling their buckboard up with all of their purchases. Jamie was puzzled.

“All of this Corporal." The bull declaimed gesturing outside. We need to expand. We need to build. We need to modernize. The railroad will be the coming thing, and this town will be a part of it." A heavy hooved paw almost bent Jamie double with the weight landing on him. He'd served with a few bovines and was ready for it. They usually didn't realize their own weight at times.

“Um….why? We're just a farming community in the middle of nowhere. We're barely a territory. Why just last year the council in…."

“Yes I know that." A tinge of anger came to Angel's voice. He huffed and stared down at Jamie. “That's not the point. Think of the future. Think of the Amos family down there loading their wagon. Do you think they want to just live in some backwater all their lives? No. We need to expand and be ready for it. And with that, we need commerce."

The hooved hand left his shoulder and Jamie looked up into those steel black eyes. “And I'm going to have a part in that. If I'm going to have a part in that, we need gold, bonds, silver, and cash, all of it. And I'm counting on you. All of you." The bovine sat in his huge green leather chair. It groaned taking his weight. “You, the Amos family, everyone. I've made investments. You know, sort of like bets. You find a nice sturdy steed, put your faith in him, put your money behind him, and collect when he wins."

Jamie swallowed as his head swam a little. He went back to the other side of the desk and sat back in his chair timidly looking up at the bull. “Now, I know not every pony wins his race, but when they do, you reward them. Give them a nice sugar cube, some hay, nice green pasture to romp in, maybe even a filly."

Angel leaned forward and pulled something out of his desk drawer. The box of fine cigars opened and Jamie sneezed at the pungent odor. The Holstein brought one to his lips, the strong acrid stench of Sulphur and tobacco filled the room as he got the thing lit. He removed the cigar and smiled at it. The dark gaze of his eyes slowly focused on Jamie, causing the canine's blood to run cold. Angel snorted out his nose blowing a short puff of smoke at the canine's nose causing Jamie to sneeze again.

“And when they don't, well, you don't send them off for glue right away. Oh, no. That would be ruining the chance at collecting on your investment. You give them, say three chances. Good 2 out of three odds of winning, and my young pup, that's better odds than in the stock market. Don't you think?"

Jamie could not tear his blue eyes away from the black menacing gaze and they seemed to bore into his soul. “Yes….sir." Jamie gulped. His mouth felt dry, and his head felt dizzy. The stench of the cigar was not helping.

The bull nodded. “Two out of three Jamie. Best two out of three."

**

That had been three months ago. He'd failed to make his third payment last week and had learned what it meant to loose on the third. Oh he hadn't been killed. No. Worse. Angel had another way for him to pay. The images came back to Jamie now as he made his way to the back of the saloon. Remembering the day he had dressed in his formal dress uniform. How he had walked head held high to Angel's office, and had given him the news.

How he had sold everything of value he had. How he had sold the cattle, and even his best feral horse, and how he was only twenty dollars shy. Angel had stood up then and smiled.

**

The door to the office closed and standing inside were two other bulls. “These are two of my, aha, investors, and they need their payment. By the contract you signed I get to receive “Services Rendered.'" And I intend to collect."

Angel stepped forward and leaning over, patted Jamie on the head like a feral dog. The canine winced at the pain from his ear wound whenever it was touched. The odor of Frenet met his sensitive nose, his eyes glancing from Angel to the bovine.

They looked nothing like “investors." One was pure black, and the other all white and both wore simple jeans and shirts which bulged on their forms. The black one looked to be a little older with some grey in his muzzle, which did nothing for the almost predatory smile he gave same slowly stepping forward. Angel had reached down and with his huge hooved paws tore the corporal's dress jacket open as if he was tearing a sheet of ledger paper.

The white bovine, a Longhorn then smiled at the two sabre scars that crossed Jamie's canine chest in two ragged pink lines. That day he'd taken the cuts, and killed the Colonel that was trying to take him down. He'd been incredibly lucky that day. Today it seemed his luck had run out.

The longhorn smiled “Ah, I see he can take some pain, very nice."

**

The beating hadn't been brutal, but it had taken a long time. Choke holds, punches to the gut, slaps to the muzzle, and the final insult, a few new stripes added to his back. He had paid for a week that night, a week's reprieve and nothing more. He had until tomorrow to come up with the rest of the money or, face a new trial of “fun." Jamie had learned that Angel had been charging fees for whippings, beatings, and even forced sex. The next was his next trial. If he survived that he'd be on permanent service, and one way or another he was determined not to be.

The beer slid down his throat and he gently set the glass on the table taking his hand in his arms when a slight commotion rattled his foggy mind. Someone new had come into the saloon. Before he had jumped like a dried up leaf in a gale at every new development, now he'd gladly take death as answer to his problems if need be. A nice bullet to the head, or a drop into one of the prospectors shafts would do it.

“I said that your damned hooves are scratching the floor!" The feline bartender snarled. Jamie's head shot up when he suddenly heard silver hit the counter. Not copper, not those new bank notes, but silver, dollar coins, and a lot of them.

“That's for the scratches and anything else that happens" the bass voice boomed out. The figure was tall and muscular and Jamie froze at the sight.

No….God no……

The grey fur spread across his equine face and arms, with light white spots here and there. A long white blaze plastered his muzzle and a pink snip showed at his upper lip. He was well over seven feet tall and muscular. A dappled grey. There had only been one dapple that Jamie had ever known in his life. They weren't that common, especially out here. In this dry climate the ungulates needed a lot more water, especially the equines.

The blue healer was suddenly completely sober as the equine had an animated conversation with Silas, the bartender, until finally Silas pointed to Jamie and muttered loudly “The whelp is over there, much good it do you."

The broad equine head swung to look at Jamie, and the canine had the distinct pleasure of seeing the surprise in the equine's face.

“Corporal?" The horse asked with slack jaw.

Jamie stood immediately to his feet and ripped off a salute. “Yes Sargent!" He barked in typical military fashion. His heart pounded. He knew his bounty hunter was ex-military, and of course equine. There had been a description of “Dappled grey" along with a few other particulars, but Jamie had never thought for a second his ex-officer would be the bounty hunter.

The equine finally only registered a smirk, and gave a lazy salute as he clopped over to the table and took a seat across from the, now apprehensive canine. In the military, if you got yourself into trouble, well, you better get yourself out of it. However, if someone else got you into trouble or caused trouble, your mates came to your aide. It didn't matter what you were doing (as long as you were not on duty) you came to that aide as fast as possible. He'd run across towns or fields once or twice himself to help out his fellow soldiers, but had never needed help until now.

**

The equine ex-sergeant stared at Jamie who almost withered under the stern glare. The horse bared his teeth snapping in irritation. “That has got to have been the biggest boneheaded mistake any of my former men may have made." Dakota was obviously not happy with him, but he was entirely right. Jamie fidgeted with the collar of his shirt. “You're telling me, but Sarg, my only option was to walk away from all the hard work I'd done to the ranch, let the train barons take it, or...." He sighed gustily “try to salvage the situation, and well, now...."

Sargent Dakota sighed and leaned back into the wooden chair, frowning at the sour beer in his hand. “And if there was one thing you were known for it was sticking to a plan once you started."

“And well, there's something else." Jamie said putting his head in his hands. “I – I'm at the last chance, best two out of three. I've got to find a way out of this contract Sarg, I mean, this is my last chance by contract, or well, you know." Jamie felt defeated, putting his muzzle into his paws. The equine hand patted him on the shoulder, “Yes well, I can help negotiate that, you know my fees right?" The sergeant asked giving the canine a sidlong look.

“I, I have the money for that at least." The equine gave a nicker. “Good. Well, lets meet your so called 'Angel' tomorrow and see what we can do to salvage this mess."

Jamie nodded and slipped some coins to the bartender, the two stepped out into the light drizzle. “I'm afraid we won't be able to get to the Ranch until tomorrow, this rain will have the ford full for hours yet." Even as he said this the canine's sensitive ears could pick out the roaring of water nearby. The equine nickered a greeting and Jamie realized his Sargent was striding up to a feral horse, a paint. “No problem Jamie, we'll stay at the inn?" Jamie nodded, feeling his light pockets growing lighter by the moment. The two made their way down the street to the Inn. Jamie barked a greeting as he stepped in from the drizzly night. “Jamie!" The young collie pup came striding over to the pair giving Jamie a grin, and glancing over to the equine and nodded a greeting.

“Dad, Jamie's here with a stranger." The pup called over his golden shoulder. An older collie stood up from behind the front desk. His Irish accent was thick. “Aye, he does at that. Welcome, will you be needing rooms?"

Jamie took off his hat, and absently shook his head. “Nah Johnny, just one, we're old friends from the war, we've shared tents before, and well, I need to save every penny I have." The older canine grinned at Jamie. “Aye, you do. Here, take 114." Jamie palmed some money into the other paw taking the iron key and leading the way down the hall.

The room was small, but clean. Jamie set down the oil lamp he'd brought with him from the lobby. “Sarge, thank you for doing this." The canine grinned at the grey equine head. Dakota nickered a chuckle at him. “Well, I am getting paid for this, gotta make some money somehow." The worn leather saddle bags were set near the door. The canine padded to the window and opened it slighly, letting a soft breeze blow in the scent of rain and cool air.

“I know, but, it's not going to be easy. Angel…he's just ruling this town. He holds almost every note on every property. It's his lock stock and barrel." The horse nodded setting the rest of his packs down at the foot of the bed. “Yeah, well, you can't just trust people out here. It's a rough land with rough people. Even I had a rough time getting acclimated to this place after four years of leading charges and fighting the rebs."

Jamie sat gingerly on the room's single chair pulling his paw boots off and wincing at the pain in his shoulder, a soft wimper catching in his throat. “Damn." He reached up to rub his shoulder. His ex-Sargent gave him a look. Still sore from the beating?" There was a fire in the equine eyes, and Jamie shuddered a bit. Looking down, “Yeah, big bruiser of a bull, Longhorn, caught me one good solid punch. I just had to sit there and take it." He jumped as an equine hand began to massage his shoulder. “Ah...." he winced. “Hrm, doesn't feel broken but bruised" Dakota muttered. Brusquely the horse bent to his packed and pulled out a bottle. “Strip down otherwise you'll really stink by tomorrow. Liniment." As the cork came off, Jamie sneezed at the astringent odor. He gave his Sargent a wry smile.

“Let me guess, horse liniment." Jamie chuckled unbuttoning his shirt, the equine laughing deeply. “What was it that tipped you off? It's strong but it will do the job well." The blue healer winced taking his shirt off. “Hrm, forgot you had those" the former Sargent said gesturing to the crossed scars on the canine's chest. Jamie just hissed as the horse rubbed the burning liquid into his shoulders. “Easy! Yeah, what hurts worse is the humilation of having to give in to this stupid bull."

Dakota spread the liquid into the canine's furred shoulders as gently as possible, but with enough force to help massage the bruised muscles. “I can understand that, I've been in situations like that before, it just means you have more lessons to learn. Jamie started to relax for the first time in days as his muscles gave in to the onslaught of chemicals and patience. He suddenly stiffened as he felt those strong hands grip him around the waist. “Sarg?" Jamie's voice quavered lightly.

“You know, it's been a long time...." The horse sounded wistful, and Jamie found his cheeks getting warm under his fur as he felt his sheath tighten. “It has...." Jamie sighed gustily, the combination of the smell of monsoon rains, the liniment, and the strong hands caressing him causing him to relax. “The last time was what...?"

Daktoa sighed behind him. “Three years ago, before company dismissal." The canine thought back to that night. There were plenty of soldiers who would keep each other “Warm" but it wasn't seemly for subordinates get together with their superior officers, and Sargent Dakota had been superior to Jamie in more ways than one.

“Sarg, Dakota, I'm scared honestly. If something should happen, to you, or go wrong tomorrow, I'll..."

“End up as a permanent sex slave to a robber baron." The horse breathed gently against the blue healer's neck sending little chills of pleasure down the dog's spine into his tail. “And I don't intend on letting you get into that route one way or another."

In an instant Jamie was too surprised to realize Dakota was kissing him full on the muzzle, the broad muscular tongue gently dominated his smaller muzzle. The canine lightly gripped the horses shoulders as they kissed, refusing to let go for a long time, gently breaking the kiss and letting his smaller body be engulfed by the larger equine's embrace. “After mustering out, I never thought I'd see you again, I was hoping we could have....." The chuckling nicker interrupting him was warm and deep. “I know you did. But back then it wouldn't have worked. I can't promise anything today, but I can say that the future isn't written yet. I may fail, you may end up a virtual slave, and a boulder could fall on Angel at any moment. Let's just see what tomorrow brings."

With shaking paws, Jamie reached up and slowly unbuttoned the white shirt the horse was wearing and slid it down Dakota's shoulders. He always was mesmerized by the dapples on Dakota's fur, the white mane and tail, he was a strikingly handsome specimen. The equine was well muscled from his stint with the army, and of course hard work on his family's farm. The scent of horse was strong to Jamie's canine nose, imparting a million tales about his partner; his worry for Jamie, determination for tomorrow, how long he'd been in the saddle, the smell of equine and feral horse distinct to the blue healer.

Jamie let his paws wander over the expansive chest and sensitive nipples, giving them light tugs as he resumed kissing Dakota, their passions growing minute by minute. Soon the scent of aroused canine melded with that of equine.

Suddenly Jamie was hoisted out of the chair and into powerful arms that tenderly carried him to the bed. Slowly he was lowered to the soft crisp sheets. Practiced hands made deft work of his belt and pants, and soon he felt the cool touch of night air on his sensitive cock tip which was straining to free itself.

“Just as sexy as I remember..." Dakota breathed looking down at Jamie, the canine found himself caught in a steely gaze, but instead of intimidation he saw hunger mixed with possessiveness. He knew the equines were possessive, but seeing it was almost a shock to the canine. Sam sex pairings may not have been encouraged in the army, but they were accepted. Men, far from home often found comfort in their fellow soldiers, and the canine had known long ago the horse may have had his eyes set on the dog. Back home that would have been unsettling, out here, it was welcoming, and Jamie found himself being desired. However, seeing it so plainly on Dakota's face was comforting.

Dakota bent over and sniffed at his chest, huffing as he did so, slowly lowering his head. Sudden warmth enveloped the canine's sheath as the horse eagerly engulfed him, slowly swirling his tongue around Jamie's length, electing a cry of pleasure from him. His paws quickly grabbed handfuls of mane and he began to gently thrust into the equine's muzzle, Dakota having no problem engulfing his length letting his broad warm tongue swirl around the delicious meat in his maw.

“Oh....it's been too long...Dakota, I'm.....not....going.....to last...." He huffed between breaths, feeling his taut furry orbs draw up. Instead of slowing, the equine sped up, and soon Jamie shoved one of his paws into his muzzle to stifle his whimpering cry as he came forcefully. He felt Dakota latch down on his doghood and eagerly swallow his load..

“That.....was...mmmph!" Jamie muffled a cry as Dakota swiftly pulled off and kissed him passionately. He could taste himself on the horse. His masculine canine scent mixing with that of the equine and found himself hardening again. The equine suddenly pulled away and smiled. “Enough of the overture, now for the main act." Jamie watched as the dusty jeans slid down to reveal the pink and black mottled cock. His mouth watered as he stared. Fourteen inches of stallion stood at rapt attention, pre quickly slicking it's length. Dakota grinned squeezing his medial ring, the tip of his long cock flaring slightly.

“See anything you like?" Jamie nodded quickly getting to his knees in front of those dappled furred thighs. The white hairs of the tail slapped his paws significantly. Jamie slowly let his tongue run the length of the warm equine perfection in front of him, hungrily tasting Dakota for the first time in years. He had hoped, and dreamed, that he'd see his old friend again, but never thought it would happen. He let this moment etch itself in his mind.

The horse's bass voice moaned above Jamie and he felt strong equine hands on the scruff of his neck. He took as much of the thick length as he could into his maw, tasting every inch that he could. He felt the slick warm pre glide against his tongue as he gently probed the sensitive tip. Dakota stamped a hoof in impatience.

“Already? Well if you insist..." Jamie chuckled getting on all fours, looking over his shoulder sternly into Dakota's steel eyes. The equine bobbed his head. “Yes.....already..." He huffed quickly grabbing Jamie's tail in his paw. With a yelp the canine felt a thick equine finger eagerly probe his ass. “Ah! Easy horse, it's been a while." Jamie let a little bit of growl enter his voice. He was impatient too, and he could feel his own need rising again.

Slowly Dakota slipped another slicked hooved finger into Jamie, then another. Judging him to be ready he lined himself up, pressing the slightly flared head against Jamie's rear. “Are....you ready?" Dakota panted, and Jamie only nodded eagerly, bracing himself. He'd taken the horse before, but it still had been a long time. The canine couldn't stop the involuntary whimper that left his muzzle as his ass was assaulted by a very hard horse as the broad flare pushed into him with a lewd popping and squelching sound. Dakota snorted out of his nose, firmly gripping the canine's waist.

After a moment or two of adjustment, Jamie just nodded his head and whispered one quiet word. “More...." inch after painful inch stretched him open as the grey horse pushing himself slowly and persistently into the dog. Finally Jamie felt warm leathery sheath lips kiss gently into his rear, along with two heavy orbs. He let out a contented sigh as did the equine above him.

“I missed this Dakota." He whispered. He may not promise anything to the horse for tomorrow, but for tonight this was enough. A soft breeze blew in through the cracked window cooling and drying the sweat that matted the fur on his back. He shivered at the sensations assaulting his body. Suddenly a quick thrust re-hilted Dakota's cock, and Jamie cried out in a soft howl of pleasure as his pre soaked his canine cock, his knot already well formed.

“Jamie.....I missed this too...missed you." A world of meaning passed to Jamie with those words, and he refused to answer any more than he could. “Yes." He suddenly felt Dakota pull back about half way, the medial teasing his entrance. Another huge thrust and with a cry he was filled again. Slowly the two worked up a rhythm. One he knew the equine could keep up all night if need be. Soon he was howling with pleasure, and contented snorts and huffs met his ears.

“Yes....more yes..." Jamie panted, his tongue lolling out of his muzzle, no longer trying to be quiet. He was in heaven as the horse hilted himself time and again, the heavy nuts colliding with his smaller ones. With brute power Dakota bred him as deeply as he could then shoved himself in deeply, shuddering. “Ah yes....my sweet mare......Jamie..." a sudden filling sensation spread inside of Jamie signaling the horse was deep in his own breeding as the equine cock flared. The canine reached down and squeezed his own knot feeling himself fall into a wracking orgasm as it surged through his body over and over. Then he felt Dakota cum. It started with the stallion gripping his waist forcefully holding him in place. The equine snorted once, twice, a deep warmth spread throughout Jamie's guts as Dakota came forcefully Wave after wave washed inside of him, filling Jamie with a contented warmth. The foal seed began to leak out around Jamie's well stretched hole as his insides couldn't take any more of the thick cum trapped inside. Dakota stamped a hoof heavily and snorted one last time.

“Ah, Jamie, yes....yes." The bass horse breathed deeply above and behind him. Jamie moaned softly at the contended feeling. Suddenly he was hoisted to his feet, still impaled on stallion. “Now, I think to bed, and some rest.....in a bit..."

**

The morning sun streamed into the window, the air outside was already sweltering. Today was going to be a day of reckoning one way or the other. Jamie dressed in the same clothes he had worn the night before, wrinkling his nose at the beer stain where he'd spilled the beer. There was no hope for it. The ford would still have a dangerous amount of water rushing down carrying tree branches, cacti, and rocks that could easily break your ankle. He'd gone down to get wash water in the basin, the collie proprietor gave him a knowing look.

“Good night last night?" Jamie had blushed under his dark fur and muttered something noncommittal quickly taking the basin back up. He had washed quickly, Dakota watching him intently as he himself also dressed.

“Now, just remember as I told you last night. Use your old military training. Contain your fear, or it will get the better of you. You killed that colonel without a thought several years ago, and if you have to, you can do it again. Let's hope it doesn't get to that." The horse dressed in clean clothes from his pack. Jamie nodded. “I must hold back my fear, or it'll rule me. And...to trust you. But why not tell me your plan?"

Dakota chuckled a nicker at him. “If I told you the plan, you wouldn't react naturally." Jamie gave his horse a canine grin. “Yes sir."

**

The equine knocked on the oak door to Angel's office. Jamie swallowed and held his flagging courage in check. Heavy hoof beats met his ears and the door creaked open. The white bull from his last encounter stood before him. “Hey, Angel, someone here with that little dog of yours." The bull glanced over his shoulder blocking the view to the room. “Well, show them in then."

Jamie stepped into the room, noticing a few changes. For one there was a very ornate black lacquer and mother of pearl stockade sitting in the middle of the room. The canine swallowed. He knew what that was for. To make certain he didn't move when he was tied down and force to perform “Services Rendered." “Ah, Corporal Hawtorn, here to make your payment? And who is this handsome gentleman?"

Angle stood up and strode over, not showing a hint of humor on his muzzle despite his cheerful words. “Sargent Dakota Walker. He's here to act as arbitrator." Jamie all but barked the words, letting his military training come back to him. The door slammed behind him. With iron will he refused to flinch.

“Arbitrator?" Angle eyed the horse, obviously taking his measure. “I didn't know we needed one Corporal?" Angle kept his eyes trained on the equine's equally steely eyed gaze. “Yes sir, for renegotiation." Here Angle glanced down at the canine, raising one elegant eyebrow. He snorted. “I wasn't aware that we were in a renegotiation phase."

“Sir, even you must abide by the codicils of your contract as well as the Territorial Laws. If one party feels an agreement is too one sided, third party can act as arbitrator. Thats where I come in." Dakota chucked the contract onto the desk. “Sir, this is so one sided it is only an edge, used to cut down those in your way. But, before you react, hear me out."

The equine strolled lazily around the room ignoring the two bulls, both staring daggers at the horse. “You told Corporal Hawthorn here that you're investments were, oh, like betting on a horse. You take a two out of three approach before going to extremes, and I think I can sweeten this pot for you. In exchange for lowering the payments, I'll bet you ten year 'Services Rendered' agreements for both Corporal Hawthorn and Myself should we not be able to meet the terms of the new agreement. A race if you will."

Jamie stood slack jawed staring at his former commanding officer, and he thought, former friend in shock. “What!?" Three voices echoed the same question. Angel looked like he'd been hit in the back of the head by a board.

“Exactly what I said and suggest. I stayed up reviewing the contract, and have drawn up a new one." The papers hit the desk. Three sets of eyes looked at the pages in turn. “In short, sir, you will get 'Ten Year Services Rendered' agreements for myself and the Corporal, forfeiture of his properties, all remaining chattle. If you loose. You forefit his property. You have to admit it's an intriguing offer."

Angel recovered quickly. He drew himself up, and went behind his desk, taking a seat. He steepled his hooved hands in front of his face. The silence drew on. “And what kind of 'race' do you speak of? A foot race? A, aha, horse race? You against a real horse say? Maybe a different type of race? Revolvers? A good shoot out? I'm interested in at least hearing you out." The bull pulled open his desk and pulled out a pair of perl handled revolvers. He also pulled out a cigar, lighting it as Dakota took a walked over to the ornate stockade. The other bull kept watching.

“Something simple. You seem to strut around here like you own the place. Parading money, selling boys into object prostitution, like my boy here. Only twenty four, and you want to turn him into a whore. Well, I don't abandon my boys. He served well, and I'll stand by him on this."

Jamie couldn't believe what he was hearing. The horse was gambling everything on this one “race?" Dakota ran a hooved finger along the brass and oak gilt restraining device. “Easy. Wrestling. Best two out of three." The horse gave a cocky smile to the bull who narrowed his eyes. “You take me down two out of three times, you win, if I do, we win. Simple."
