The Enemy of my Enemy chapter 1 (a Halo fanfiction)
A lone drop pod sat inside of a large UNSC ship, inside was a young ODST named James, his pod lit up with various screens and buttons as it spun around slowly to face the wall of the drop chamber. Several beeps sounded before he was suddenly launched down through orbit into the city of New Mombosa. Upon impact James fell into unconsciousness for several hours. He finally woke up finding himself inside a dimly lit pod still strapped to his seat.
Quickly he looked around and found the five emergency release buttons lining his pod, with a grunt he struggled to press each of them before his hatch was flung open and he found himself staring down at the city streets, he was high off the ground but not high enough to get hurt from a jump. James released his straps after retrieving his rifle and sidearm from his sides, he made quick work to land on his feet and survey the area. He activated his visor and looked from left to right slowly.
He landed in what appeared to be a town square where there were several destroyed vehicles and an abundance of corpses, many of which were UNSC marines and NMPD officers. A loud noise came from nearby bringing James to full attention, he turned to see a patrol of brutes heading his way, he quickly made way to a cluster of cars which had been destroyed and hid as the patrol passed by unaware of him.
A popup on his HUD caused him to recoil on the spot, his map had come online and a waypoint had been set for him. He was headed to a nearby plaza. Sighing as he stood up and began to make his way there he kicked a couple of scattered grenades from a corpse.
"Huh... I need these more than you pal." He spoke softly picking up the grenades.
He continued down the street until he came to his waypoint, the plaza was magnificent aside from the dead brutes and Grunts strung about the area. He looked down to the plaza over some railing and spotted a UNSC weapons cache. Knowing he only had two magazines for his rifle he made haste to the cache.
Once he was close enough he reached out for one of the crates however a faint sound nearby forced him to draw his weapon in its direction.
"Help...me..."came a voice from behind some dumpsters.
James cautiously approached the dumpsters while keeping as quiet as possible, he turned around the corner of the disposal bin to find an Elite hunched against the wall bleeding heavily with what appeared to be a plasma pistol in hand. James brought his weapon up instinctively.
"Do it...kill me you pathetic wretch!" Rasped the alien who appeared to be in great pain.
James took a nice look at the injury, a massive gash in his stomach and to his surprise a dead brute chieftain lay nearby with a hammer in hand.
"I'm guessing you two had a disagreement." James mocked lowering his weapon
This Elite was no threat, not in his current condition so James turned away and continued towards the crates when the Elites voice came again, this time it sounded feminine.
"Go then...leave me to die like a coward..." she said
James shrugged off the weak insult before reaching the crates and stocking up on ammunition, he found a military hard rucksack and packed it with several MRE bags. He found himself glancing over his shoulder at the dumpsters as a twinge of pain ceased from his chest. Snatching up a small medical kit he trotted back to the Sangheili who merely looked at him before spitting blood onto his boots.
"Your pathetic race will be extinguished before the great journey ends!" She bellowed
James knelt down while unzipping the medical kit and pulling out several bandage wraps along with some disinfectant spray.
"Hold still blabber mouth, this is going to hurt...a lot." He said before pulling the cap from the spray and dousing the wound.
The sheer pain made the sangheili wail with pain but as he began wrapping the bandages around her waist she continued to wail until she fainted from the shock. James became a little worried that he'd just wasted a perfectly good medical kit on something already dead.
He reached his fingers up to her neck and quickly checked her pulse, no she was still alive...Just unconscious. James proceeded to patch her up before a patrol was heard nearby. He couldn't risk leaving her here and actually wasting the medical equipment so he made quick work at holstering his rifle and lifting his new friend onto his back and carrying her into a nearby building.
The patrol hadn't noticed either of them but it had been several more hours by the time it was safe enough to peek out of a window. James had quickly become familiar with the building as he'd stashed the still unconscious Elite upstairs in a bedroom. He sighed wondering why he wanted to save her in the first place. A thud came from the upstairs bedroom where his friend was and he quickly ran up a set of stairs and into the room to find she'd gotten out of bed and was looking for a weapon.
She caught a glimpse of James in the doorway and quickly flung herself against the wall with great fear and wide eyes.
"What have you done to me?!" She roared
James looked through his helmets visor at her with a confused expression, not that she'd see through his helmet. He slowly pulled out his sidearm and approached her cautiously.
"You need to rest, your injury hasn't healed yet." He said in a soft voice
The sangheili's eyes darted around the room looking for an escape route but to her dismay she found none that wouldn't involve getting past him. James held his gloved hand out and spoke even softer.
"Do you want to bleed out? Take it easy!" He said
"I would rather die than continue this heresy!" She shouted before trying to rip off the bandages
James quickly lunged at her to pin her to the wall, she screamed at his visor but he had turned his headset off meaning he didn't have to hear her as she thrashed and screamed before finally submitting. James turned his headset back on and let her go as she slumped down to the floor.
"You...you have bested me...and stripped me of my honor...I yield..." she spoke hanging her head in shame
James squatted down to her and placed a gloved hand to the side of her face bringing her eyes to his visor.
"I need you to rest, get back on the bed and rest until you're healed, then we will go our separate ways got it?" He said receiving a reluctant nod from her
James assisted her into the bed and carefully tucked her in before walking out and down the hallway into the bathroom where he filled his empty canteen with cold water. Soon he thought of changing the bandages so that she doesn't receive an infection. Later on when she was asleep he retrieved the medical kit and brought it to her bedside.
Not wanting to turn on a light and wake her up he used his helmets visor to see what he was doing. Unfortunately to properly dress her wounds it would require the removal of her armor. Suddenly his visor began malfunctioning and a painfully loud buzzing sound came from inside forcing him to take it off.
James groaned before setting to work on removing her bulky armor and changing the bandages, once he had finished he ran a hand over her side to ensure that the field dressings were holding steady. He also noticed how curved her frame was a felt a light tint fill his face as unpleasant thoughts crossed his mind.
James quickly stood up and walked out before sitting down against the wall and falling asleep. The next morning he woke up and went to check on his little friend only to find her covered tightly in her blankets sitting upwards.
"You...you saw me..." she sputtered
James was momentarily confused before noticing a pile of armor in the corner and realizing what she meant.
"Ah I see, don't worry I didn't really see anything, it was too dark to see thank the lord." James mocked
"How disrespectful!" Shouted the Elite still bare skinned under the blankets
"I'm going to go check and see if the shower works, stay right there." James said walking off
James turned the knob to the shower and removed his gloves to check the temperature, he was pleased to find warm water and quickly shut off the water before walking back to the bedroom where the Elite had just finished putting on her armor.
"There's warm water in the shower, you should be the first to wash off." James offered while completely confused by how kind he was being
The Elite stormed past him and down the hall with a shove before entering the bathroom. James quickly sat upon the bed and wracked his brain for answers.
"Why am I being polite to an alien! An alien! Of all things!" He said to himself
In the bathroom the female elite had turned on the water and found it pleasing that her captor hadn't lied. She slowly removed her armor starting with her helmet and breast plate. She wasn't exactly large in the chest however she was very well rounded in the rump. Her skin nearly as smooth as a waxed wood floor.
She stepped into the running water now naked and purred as the warm water ran down her body through every possible curve as she began to wash off several blood stains, most of it belonging to her. She ran a hand softly over the bandages the human had placed upon her body, she growled at the thought that something so primitive had bested her.
She lowered her head and sighed.
"I suppose I do owe him my thanks for saving me..." she whispered to herself
She wondered why it was that he'd saved her but the thought was quickly thrown aside as gunfire came from outside the building and the door to the bathroom flew open followed by quick steps. She spun around and shrieked instinctively as she felt a hand roughly grip around her mandibles. With her eyes shut she felt that it was the end for her.
"Shhhh! Do you want them to find us?!" Whispered James angrily
For whatever reason the Elite felt her hearts slowly calm down as she found her new companion was the only one there. However soon a chilling realization struck both of them. She was still naked and the enough light had been provided by the open door to show her full form as clear as day. Her face turned a bright shade of purple as the blood rushed to her face revealing some light freckles under her eyes which were strained as widely as possible.
James slowly caught on to what she was looking at and risked a glance downward to find her fully nude. He quickly removed his hand from her mandibles and staggered out of the room with a light tint to his cheeks. He'd seen plenty of women during the UNSC public shower sessions however seeing an Elite's naked curvature was very different for him. Averting his eyes he spun around to look out the window as she slowly brought her hands up and covered her Private areas without taking her eyes away from James.
"I'm...I'm sorry I should have knocked!" James sputtered out
Several seconds went by before he received a reply from her.
"What is your name Human...?" She asked
"James" he replied thankful for a light change of subject
"...I go by Kehe 'Chalcam" she replied
James found himself taking a glance over his shoulder at her body before slowly walking down the hall, his face burning with embarrassment. Kehe watched him walk away before slowly moving to close the door and finish showering. Once she'd finally cleaned herself up she reached out for a towel to find none hung on the wall and her face burned with embarrassment once more knowing she had to ask James to retrieve one for her.
