"What's Left"
Act 1:
THE FIRST NIGHT ALONE
FADE IN.
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
The room is cluttered with clothes. The bed is buried under adult magazines. All the furniture is metal and rusted. There is a metal spring bed, metal cabinet, metal table, steel sink, and a few metal chairs scattered in the room. The room bares a yellowish tint from all the rust. A light swings as if it were hit.
The metal door off to the left is rusted and covered in black mold splotches. It CREAKS open and out of the bright white light steps in, AARON, a slender fem-boi fox with a blue cape, white moccasins, and soft white gloves. Underneath, he wears a tight string thong that shows off a small bulge and exaggerates his slender legs, tight blue T-shirt cut off at mid chest, his underbelly is soft grey, he has a inny belly button, and walks with his hips. He slowly removes his hood.
AARON
So this is my life, days out collecting can food, perishables left over from the filth of man. Ruby?
RUBY is a small cat robot. It rolls around on steel wheels and has a small can for a body, spring for a neck, and metal cat head with pink ears. It has a cute female voice. It rolls out from underneath the bed.
RUBY
Back so soon?
AARON
Yup.
He removes his cape and drapes it over a chair. On his back he has a small backpack. He removes it and puts it on the chair as well. Ruby wheels over. He kneels down and opens the bag.
RUBY
What did we get today?
AARON
Not much, perishables are getting harder-and-harder to find. The bombs did a number on most; plus competition is tough and lets face it I'm really just a target.
Ruby moves back-and-forth rubbing her head on his leg.
AARON (CONT'D)
It's okay Rubes, we'll manage...somehow.
He removes a can of peas, then a can of corn, and finally a can of pears.
AARON (CONT'D)
I promised Albi I'd survive, and I am. Even if it's just barely.
(Pause)
I have a surprise for you Rubes.
RUBY
Yes?
Her neck stretches and squeaks as she tries to peer in. Aaron removes a can of Premier Oil and shows it to her.
RUBY (CONT'D)
Yay, finally.
She retracts her neck.
AARON
I found one other thing.
He pulls out a tube of pink jelly lubricant.
AARON (CONT'D)
Though its useless, I snatched it. Never know when this might come in handy. We may have to turn to this if oil gets any scarcer.
He sits on the bed and holds the lubricant in his arms as if it were a child.
AARON (CONT'D)
I miss it though.
Ruby wheels over and hops up and down. Aaron helps her up onto the bed.
RUBY
Miss what?
AARON
Albi's touch, the soft feel of his paw...his warmth.
RUBY
You could have it again, Danny has been propositioning you for some time. He's a nice guy.
AARON
After Albi, I don't want anyone else.
RUBY
He must have been some guy.
AARON
He was...more than that. We met out in the field, it was a warm summer day.
EXT. FIELD - DAY
The tall weeds bloom purple and fill the landscape. In the distance blurred out sky scrapers and massive sized buildings. It's a major human city. The sun glows bright and a few clouds hover in the sky. Morning dew has gathered on the leaves of plants and the pedals of flowers. ALBI, slender fem-boi dog in loose blue velvet pants, white shirt, a rainbow colored lab coat, and wears nerdy round glasses kneels on one leg in the weeds. He gathers water from the pedals of the flowers into a glass tube then holds it to the sun.
AARON (V.O.)
He was a major nerd, dorky glasses and all. But I loved him, I find nerds attractive what can I say.
RUBY (V.O.)
Was that a smile?
AARON (V.O.)
Yes, ever time I think of this moment I can't help it. Anyway have to keep the spirits up, that's what he would always say when times were bad.
RUBY (V.O.)
So how'd you two meet?
AARON (V.O.)
He was out of the colony up in the human world collecting data for fresh water. The furry colony was hidden deep in a tunnel. We used an abandoned subway for housing and dug new chambers as we needed. Going up to the surface was not allowed. However, to collect fresh water we had to. Albi would sneak up with a guard and collect data for his fresh water machine. And how did I meet him? Well earlier that day back in Tunnel A something accidental happened.
INT. UNDERGROUND SUBWAY - TUNNEL A - DAY
The tunnel is massive and goes on for miles. Rotted wooden crates form towers. The crate towers are scattered everywhere, they form a maze. A group of SIX armed DOGS in green coats walk between the crates. A younger Aaron hides against a box close to the main path. He holds a green coat in his paws and tries to conceal himself against a wooden crate.
AARON (V.O.)
I was too poor to shop at the market so I had to steal food from the main quarters. This is where the so called ruler of City 32 dwelled. All the good canned food went here. I had a family of six sisters and since mother died I was left to protect them. I may not have been strong or well built but I was sly, and cunning. I would sneak through here and find where they put the days fresh loot and steal cans. I'd wait till the guards would go pass then put a green coat that looked almost identical to the guards capes. I made it myself and in the dark you couldn't tell the difference from the regular guards and me.
Aaron watches the guards go past and quickly but quietly puts the green coat on and pulls over the hood. He travels down the maze, slowly.
AARON (V.O.) (CONT'D)
I'd make my way down to the payload. I'd fill my satchel and head out. However on this day I ran into some trouble.
A clearing where cans are piled high, it's like a maze of canned food. It's the mother load of all food supply down in City 32. DANTE, a fat badger who was the big cheese, the ruler of City 32 steps out with Albi who has his lab coat draped over his arm.
AARON (V.O.) (CONT'D)
Dante, the big Cheese himself stepped out with Albi. I know it was dumb but I was mesmerized by Albi. He stood tall and brave, his clean coat glimmered in the torch light, his eyes were like stars, and his slender build just grabbed my attention. I froze in place, against all my training, all my practice I was lost in lust and love. He spoke with Dante. I was frozen unable to move, and when Albi put on his dorky glasses I melted inside. I think I drooled.
Aaron holds a can of food in his hand. His grip loosens and the can tumbles to the ground. CLANK. Albi and Dante face him.
DANTE
Good, soldier come over here!
AARON
(Deepens his femmy voice)
Yes sir.
Aaron slowly walks over to them, but keeps his distance.
DANTE
Escort Albi to the surface he needs to gather data.
AARON
Umm, yes sir.
DANTE
Where's your weapon?
AARON
I haven't got it from the cage yet.
Dante walks over to a crate and grabs a machine gun. He tosses it to Aaron who nearly drops it.
DANTE
Return it when you get back.
AARON
Yes sir.
DANTE
(To Albi)
You better have some conclusive data soon
.
ALBI
I will, all good things come in time.
DANTE
Time is something we don't have.
Albi approaches Aaron. They turn and head to the lift.
AARON (V.O.)
I was terrified but I couldn't stop myself from glancing over and staring at him; at least when I knew he wasn't paying attention to me. He seemed agitated.
INT. LIFT - DAY
The lift was an old metal elevator. It was simple red goes up green goes down. It led up a dark tunnel. A torch was the only light illuminating the dark tunnel.
AARON (V.O.)
Getting to this point was simple. Albi had clearance and everyone thought I was a guard.
Aaron and Albi step in and the gate closes. Aaron glances over to Albi. It travels up and Aaron continues to stare. Unable to turn away.
ALBI
Stop that.
AARON
(Femmy voice)
Yes sir.
Aaron covers his mouth. Albi turns and faces him.
ALBI
Who are you?
AARON
(Deep voice)
I am Thomas, sorry sir my voice is a bit scratchy today, think I may have a cold.
ALBI
Don't give it to me.
Albi steps away. Aaron sighs in relief.
EXT. FIELD - LIFT EXIT - DAY
The lift exits the ground and comes to a halt. Albi looks to Aaron and then to the gate. Aaron snaps and opens it.
Albi exits first and heads over the hill. Aaron follows cautiously.
AARON (V.O.)
I kept telling myself to relax, act normal before I blow it and get sent to prison. I attempted to stop staring at Albi with little prevail. I knew that he knew I was watching at him. I was running scenarios of what would happen to me and what would happen to my sisters if I were caught. My mind raced on and on.
Albi stopped in the middle of the field and put his lab coat on. Aaron nearly topples over him. Albi removes a test tube from his coat and drops it gently and purposely onto the grass. Albi looks back to Aaron then slowly bends over. His lab coat slides to the side and his tight velvet pants slide into his tight dog butt. His fluffy tail is lifted. Aaron's eyes open wide and he leans to the side to check him out.
ALBI
Ha! I knew it.
He turns and faces Aaron then steps up.
ALBI (CONT'D)
So you want to fuck me, huh? You want me to bend over so you can slip your cock inside me?
AARON (V.O.)

AARON

He turns and goes to a patch of flowers and kneels down. Aaron stands in the field speechless and scared.

Albi stops and sits back on his paws.

AARON

ALBI
A real guard would not let me go further than where I am now.
AARON
I was just being nice, last time I do that.
Albi stands and walks over to Aaron.
ALBI
You can fool them with your green coat but I'm a bit smarter than that.
AARON
I don't know what you're talking about. Get back to work!
Aaron steps back as Albi steps in.
ALBI
Ooo, I like a boy who can play rough.
AARON (V.O.)
I knew I was caught and I hate yelling at anyone I was a softy and it bothered me to raise my voice much less command him to work so I took my chances.
Albi steps in close, nearly muzzle to muzzle.
AARON (CONT'D)
(Femmy voice)
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell.
ALBI
Aww, and you were doing so well. So can I see your face?
Aaron slowly and fearfully removes the hood. He looks away

ALBI (CONT'D)
Wow, you're cute. I expected a young dog not a fox.
AARON
Umm, look please don't tell, this was all an accident.
ALBI
Sure it was, so now that we're on equal terms and you're not going to rat me out, mind going with me to the Bellacon?
AARON
But isn't that forbidden?
ALBI
I won't tell if you won't.
Albi sticks out his paw and Aaron takes it.
AARON
Something I have to confess.
ALBI
What?
AARON
I've never used one of these.
He presents his gun.
ALBI
Hand it to me I'll worry about that.
They head to the Ballacon, which is their title for the edge of the city.
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
Aaron lays on the magazines, the tube of lubricant rests on his stomach. Ruby is cuddled up in his arms, she looks at him.
AARON
On the way we talked about several things. I told him of my sisters and our present state and why I was down there. By the end of the day when we were back at the lift we both had become friends. From then on he would sneak me canned food for my sisters and myself and we would spend a dinner or two together. As time went on we got closer. Friendship turned to dating and we eventually became intimate. We swore our lives to be together and nothing could break us apart.
RUBY
Why aren't you together now?
Silence. Aaron rolls onto his side. The tube rolls off and falls to the floor.
AARON
I don't want to remember.
RUBY
Sorry I asked.
AARON
Ready for bed?
RUBY
Promise to oil me in the morning?
AARON
Of course Rubes.
He stands and heads to the sink. He removes a half full bottle of clean water and a satchel. He removes a tooth brush and brushes his teeth. He takes a small swig from the water bottle and spits.
AARON (CONT'D)
Cleanliness is the key to a healthy life.
He lays back down and buries himself under the magazines.
AARON (CONT'D)
Nighty Ruby.
RUBY
Nighty.
AARON
Good night Albi, I love you.
