Terveta-Chapter 1: Warning (Part 4)
Suddenly the sight went black and the sound of breaking, twisting metal brayed loudly in the marksman's ears. The canine leaned back to see what the matter was until he realized, half the gun was missing. It was as if a giant blade came down and hacked the weapon in two, except the severed end had jagged edges around the whole separation mark.
"Don't do that," suddenly exclaimed a growl to the side, making the guard turn to face where it came from.
It was the Omega, a tall white leopard named Seth, clutched between his paws was the missing portion of the railgun. He crumpled the hunk of metal together in his paws, with just as much effort as crushing a soda can. The steel whined again before he tossed it over the balcony and pressed his paws close together with a gap between them.
A current of air began to swirl itself into a spherical shape in the space, spiraling like a twister without the funnel shape. The guard stared down the formation but had little time to react when the Omega threw it at him. The ball crushed itself into the guard's chest, doing no real physical damage, but it was enough to toss him over the side onto the ground two stories down. After watching the brief presentation, Seth blurred as he moved again with blinding speed right for the back of the group when they all finally got up to the door.
"Is that all of them?" Blizzard hissed to his Gamma. The wolf held up a finger and closed his eyes, searching for any more guards that were on their way but he found none, in fact something good.
"No more armed units, but there is a secretary behind the door," he said calmly and smiled.
Blizzard stared at the lupine before he turned back around and raised his fist to knock, but the door opened on its own before he could make contact. Just as Vace had predicted there was a thin frail-looking feline in very formal clothing holding the door open for them.
"Come in please. You are wanted." She gestured with a smooth motion of her paw to a long hallway that went past a desk of gawking workers.
Blizzard nodded once and started forward. The pathway was huge; the ceiling a constant arch with ivory and marble busts of previous leaders lining the walls on either side. There was gold leaf high up imprinted along elegant borders were the arch met the wall. At the very end of the hall there was a set of double doors, a single security guard on either side, but these two were vastly different from the so many others the group encountered. They wore no armor or any serious form of weaponry, just a simple white shirt tucked into a pair of blue pants.
Blizzard counted a small firearm, mace, and a tazer latched to each of their belts. It was obvious that they weren't meant to fight and his suspicions were proven right when the two pushed the doors open for them once they got close enough. Without thanks, the Alpha stepped inside with the others close behind. The doors slammed shut as soon as Seth had stepped far enough in and seemed to lock, causing a feeling of suspicion to rise in the husky.
The whole room was a giant circle; a window taking up the far wall with a great desk just in front of it and a comfortable leather chair right behind. Set in the chair was a rather simple looking red male fox, dressed in a black suit with trim shoulders and neckline.
"Bravo," was the first word he uttered and then stood up from his position, the chair sliding back with a light squeak. "I didn't expect the Terveta to be here so quickly. My messenger said it would be a few more days," he mused, stepping around the desk and bracing his rear end against the front.
"The hostiles have changed their route. I expect they'll be here just under twenty-four hours." Blizzard kept his voice steady and perfect. The president blinked and stared at them, his almost friendly smile pulling down into an unbelieving frown.
"Excuse me?"
"The hostiles are coming this way. I don't know the reason behind their trajectory change but we need to prepare." His voice turned into an edge.
