Red Rain - Chapter 1
The metalic taste of blood soaked my tongue. Flashing lights filled my vision as the visor displayed warnings and notifications. My vision seemed blurred and fogged. Head swirling in pain and confusion. Another rush of metallic taste spilled over my tongue and out of my own mouth. It was almost impossible to stop the bleeding. I gasped for air but my lungs felt heavy and I could hardly keep my own breath. My vision slowly came back as the fog slowly faded away. A loud voice blared in my sensitive ears.
"Critical Damage to Major organs detected. Immediate medical attention required.... Warning... Critical Damage to Major organs detected. Blood levels reaching critically low. Activating assisted movement."
The automated and robotic sound continued to inform me of damage to heart, lungs, and internal damage. I felt my own arms that had felt heavy before become lighter and very easy to lift up. A large amount of pressure squeezed my legs and hips. I felt the pressure growing around my chest making me scream out in pain. Another loud voice filled my ears.
"Critical damage to chest cavity. Failure to secure upper section."
I looked beyond the visual representation of my own body displayed on the visor. It was dark, hardly visible. Debris and rubble fell around me as I looked at a gaping hole in front of me. I felt disoriented, however the visor displayed an orientation indicator. I was looking up. Taking a moment to gather my thoughts I remembered.
An orbital landing gone wrong. The combat suit failed to deploy wind flaps and orbital inertal dampiners. Leading to a free fall of gained velocity landing flat into the ground. I was lucky however... The suits integrity kept strong even though I had fallen thousands of feet from the sky. Taking a look at the top right of my visor was the integrity percentage showing thirty five percent.
"Shi-" I gasp escaped my mouth as a strong shearing and piercing bout of pain filled my body and chest. I knew I needed to contact for help. I remembered where I was, what I was here for and why. The mission statement was easy. The team was deployed to extract a high level official that was unnamed due to confidentiality. However the location where he was to be extracted was a restricted zone. PZ-0902 known to be the home of a aggressive and hostile world. The creatures here could easily rip a person limb from limb.
"Rain.. Are you there? Report position and status immediately." A strong and dominant low voice filled the coms attached to my inner right ear. Knowing I couldn't speak without causing more damage to myself I activated the emergency communication system.
"Gardian Class Red Rain reporting major damage to physical body. Suit reports failure in Wind Flaps, Orbital Inertal Dampiners, Replication Systems, and Auto Targeting Systems. Requesting immediate maintenance and medical attention."
"Shit... Combat Suit for Rain.. please upload your exact position.. We are coming for you."
My vision slowly started to fade as my own suit communicated to my coms. Slowly my eyes began to close. Jaw lax and impossible to move. I felt tired and exhausted. Not able to move a muscle, and hardly able to think. Had to deploy emergency medical attention. Nothing moved.. Nothing happened. This was it.
