Terveta-Chapter 6: Questions (Part 1)
Blizzard dragged himself through the streets of the settlement, catching glances full of mixed emotions from others standing outside at the time. The rest of his squad and Delta squad's Alpha were with him at the time.
"If you don't mind me asking, Blizzard, but where are we going?" Mathew asked, stepping up beside the husky.
The canine grunted under his breath before looking up to the panther. His eyes then focused on his Gamma and quickly asked. "Hey Vace, where's my mate and professor Knetter?"
The wolf blinked, dazed by the sudden question and then started to look. "They're both together in her palace quarters, sir," he answered tiredly.
"Good, then that saves us some time," he growled and quickened his pace.
"What exactly will going to them do? I know it's erratic behavior for the hostiles to act like that, but I'm sure it's a once in a lifetime thing. You know?" he said, trying to lift the atmosphere around them to a more cheerful medium.
The blue husky just shook his head and sighed.
"No, something similar happened back last winter that was identical to what happened today. It really unnerved Professor Knetter and I really doubt it won't happen again in the distant future. Keisha needs to know about what's been happening with the hostile population so she can make a decision about what to do for future safety," he explained thoroughly.
Mathew let his jaw drop in surprise.
"What happened last winter?"
"Alpha squad was sent out to take care of a huge hostile infestation in a city. We thought we would have had more time to prepare for their advancement, but we really cut it close. They attacked much earlier then what we had expected. We almost didn't save the city in time," Blizzard elaborated.
The panther continued to stare at him in a mixture of awe and surprise.
"You're kidding me. What do you think could be causing their sudden change in behavior?"
The husky just shook his head.
"That's what I need to talk to Professor Knetter about."
They had gotten up to the capital building's steps and were working up them at a steady pace. Guarding the doors were Beta and Gamma squad's Alphas just like they always did. They both gasped and bounded for the injured soldiers as they came into view.
"I just need to see my mate and Dean," Blizzard growled loudly, shrugging off Ice's helpful gestures. The two began too look over the rest of them, seeing if they might be able to do anything but sadly none of them could.
Blizzard pushed his way through the doors and led the whole trailing group through the building up to the entrance of his mate's room.
"Madam, we've got a problem," Mae said, frantically pushing the door open to Keisha's room and holding it open for each wounded Terveta to walk in.
The wolf and red fox had been talking to each other at the moment when she came bursting in. Dean was sitting on the bed while the female lupine looked over the piece of machinery he had brought in for her to inspect. Keisha gasped as soon as her eyes fell upon her critically conditioned love and ran to his side.
"Blizzard!" She yelled and leaped right to his side.
"My God..." Dean breathed with widened eyes, fear striking deep within him.
"We need to talk, professor," Blizzard mumbled.
"What happened?" Keisha demanded angrily.
"We were ambushed by hostiles in the meadow. We wouldn't have made it if not for Delta squad," he went on.
The wolf stared from her mate to Mathew. "Is this true? Did your squad aid in their survival?" She asked sternly.
The panther nodded his head.
"My soldiers suffered the same amount in damage though."
"Dean, something big is going on and we need to seriously look into it now," Blizzard said louder.
The red fox nodded his head and stepped up beside his piece of work.
"I agree, Blizzard, but what are we going to do about your inflictions?"
"Seth can heal the rest of them when he fully recovers, but as for now we need to figure what's going on with the hostiles."
