Terveta-Chapter 6: Questions (Part 4)
"Oh? What's that?" he asked curiously.
The fox smirked and turned to the closest drone.
"You there. Show Blizzard your offensive capabilities."
The machine turned its head as if to look at its creator and then stalled for a moment. It slid the almost whole hostile it had been caring from its shoulder and took a hold of its arm to pull it up into the air. The plates of armor on its other limb then shifted apart from each other and two four-foot long blades slid out like lightning. The robot was in no rush so it casually pulled its arm back and then slowly swung it for the corpse.
The Alpha's eyes widened when he saw the blades cut into the torso, but it didn't stop, instead it went all the way through, separating the creature in pieces. How could this be?
"But..." Blizzard began but found he was at a loss of words.
"Molecular-sharp blades. They can cut through anything, even a hostile. Like a red hot knife through butter," he said smugly.
"Very impressive," The blue husky added as the blades slid back into the machine's forearm and then picked the parts up.
Blizzard continued on his way for the pile and hurled the pieces he had been hauling onto the stack. Even though the hostiles looked thin and scraggily with barely any muscle to them, they were as heavy as boulders. They were cleaning the mess up well; only spare parts and limbs laid around from place to place. Now it was more like making the area look good again. They could just take care of the heap now, but pieces still remained that wouldn't do any sort of harm at all, and in time they'd decay and become a part of the land.
Alpha and Eta squads had moved to the outskirts of the destruction zone and began to pick up pieces there.
"Blizzard!" yelled a voice form behind.
The Alpha turned slowly around to see who it was. His eyes came down upon Mathew charging at them at a great speed, a look of alarm and worry on his face. Realization hit the husky fast and strong and he immediately went on high alert. Something came up from his side in a flash, but he didn't see it before it struck him hard in the chest.
He was sent through the air with remarkable speed, the being already gone. His back crashed into something big and forced it across the ground. It was one of Eta squad's soldiers that buffered his impact, but it didn't come without damage. Blizzard dropped down onto his feet when they had stopped moving and looked around dazed. What the hell was that?
Suddenly, the machine behind him was on an elevated alert when a roaring scream ripped through the area.
"Behind you!" came Mathew's voice again.
The blue husky turned around just in time to see a black blur come right up to him. He brought both of his arms in front to block what was coming but he was too slow. Thin fingers wrapped around his neck, easily cutting off his supply of oxygen before he felt the ground leave his feet. His eyes went wide when he saw it to be a hostile but it was dramatically different then all the others. Mathew was helpless to watch, he had none of his weapons, practically useless now in the current situation. He began to franticly look around, searching for someone to help until he spotted the rest of Alpha squad and Keisha. Without hesitation he began to race off after them to get help.
The machine that was just beside Blizzard and the hostile flexed the blades from its forearms like the first one had and charged the beast as fast as it could. Too many things were going on for him to react accordingly. Fear whirled inside him, the first thought that struck him was that the monster intended on using him as a shield for the unbelievably sharp weapons, but then he was blown away when he saw what the hostile was really intending to do.
