Terveta-Chapter 6: Questions (Part 6)
By this time the two damaged ones recovered and had joined in the fight. The hostile was like a dancer, its movements a blur at how much speed it held within its strong frame. As one machine swung its blade down, the beast avoided the weapon, grabbed it, and forced it around for its fellow robot. The other saw the action just in time and managed avoid it in time but wasn't quick enough to evade getting its arm carved off at the shoulder. The wounded robot turned without much detouration and lunged for the hostile. It was thrusted backwards with a backhand to the chest.
Hostiles were never this strong, this durable. They were never consciously smart either. It used to be easy to out-maneuver one of them, but this one was able to learn where the machines were coming from and what they were doing.
Two more of them were immobilized when the beast put its paw into the machine and sliced its insides. Then it knocked the head of the other almost completely off with a swift upward kick.
Blizzard gripped his paws into fists and began to concentrate his energy into them. In an instant, blue flames exploded up his limbs, lapping at his chest while he began to charge. The remaining two dropped back when they were rendered too damaged to continue, the creature seeming to grin with playful satisfaction.
"So much for Eta squad," Blizzard mumbled to himself.
The hostile dropped its gaze onto him and let loose a howling snarl. The Alpha seized the moment and threw his arms up to aim. Bolts of plasma began to flow and fire from his paws in bright blue balls of energy. The monster shot off to the side in a flash as the blasts struck behind it.
Blizzard followed it with his aim trying to inflict damage. The glowing flames that surrounded his arms started to dull and diminish with the more power he used. It avoided every bolt he threw at it, even jumping high into the air and tearing across the ground in an explosion of dust.
The land was shredded apart wherever his plasma bolts struck; setting flames to the area that began to quickly spread.
The last of his blaze ran out when the beast finally sprinted right at him. He pulled his arms back and held his eyes open, calculating and concentrating like before on his balled up paws.
He could feel kinetic energy begin to drive into his digits as the hostile got closer and closer. It roared powerfully, and just as it got near enough, he threw both of his fists forward in his strongest blow yet. He managed to connect right into its chest, sending out a clap of thunder.
His arms fell to his sides and his chest began to heave, exhilarated. There was a whining scream, the creature struggling as it lay on the ground just meters away. How was this thing still alive? After all he'd poured into that final, hit he still hadn't killed it.
Slowly, the hostile recovered and got its bearings. The black monster stood up from the tall grass and stumbled back a step, staring woozily at the Alpha. At least he'd done a bit of significant destruction to it, he thought, until the creature shook it of and glared with a newfound hate.
Blizzard's heart skipped a beat. He tried to charge energy in his arms like before; nothing he had done so far was working in the least. He felt something begin to go down his arm, a warm liquid that seemed to cascade through his blue fur, tinting it crimson in a shifty line. He tried to bend his arms but found it strange, as it was a struggle.
He tore his gaze from the monster while it took a step closer to see what was wrong. His breath caught in throat when he saw spikes of bloody white points coming out of his arms at several places on both limbs. He couldn't believe what had happened. The last assault he mustered crushed the bones in his arms like they were glass. He could no longer use the majority of his offensive capabilities, but he did have a last resort.
He felt a surge of electricity light through his body. It was a faint static charge, but it was all he had left. He began to pull and strain on that last bit of energy while he waited for the monster to get closer, but it seemed to be taking its sweet time, dragging the fight out as best it could.
