A soulful howl

Story by mistalis on SoFurry

, , , ,

Though a silent night upon a snow filled land a lone howl echos forth

Upon the tundra ever white where the light of day never reaches

I stand alone lost from my pack

Howling into the darkness with only the echos to comfort me I wander forth

Ever searching for what i have lost

Praying to the ancestors to not lead me astray

I catch the scent of another so faint its hard to tell

Dark thoughts plague me

Making me wonder if I am chasing myself in circles

Trees ever green now loom before me

Growing from the endless white to bring froth a glimmer of hope

Running through the forest I cannot help but feel the past calling to me

As if I a home for the first time ever

There before me stands my pack

New pups romping about in the lush forest lands

My brothers

My sisters

My nephews

My Nieces

All there before me

It is then I know my time has gone

My own father joining me by my side

To take me back across the tundra lands

To where the world is ever green

Where the deer are plenty

My time has past

I protected my pack

And now my brother has stepped up

I turn back to run with my new pack

My old pack

Upon the plains ever green

Upon the land unending

My new home.
