A Mothers Choice Chapter 3
#3 of A Mothers Choice.
Jack let out a soft groan the morning after he slept with Kara. the large husky mixed male laid in his bed in silence just staring up at the ceiling. He knew he had about two hours before he had to head out for his 'meetings'. As he laid there his ears caught some sound, the sound of little foot steps pattering around down the halls with giggles filling the air. "Hm?" He sat up in the bed and looked towards the door in silence as he heard Belle running around with her mother chasing her. "Belle get your little butt back here! It is time to get dressed!"
Jack laughed a bit as he listened before getting to his feet, pulling on some pajamas bottoms for the moment and moving towards his bedroom door, cracking it open to peek out. He saw the little tigress running from her mother wearing her pajamas still and giggling. 'Must be a morning energy rush for the little one.' Jack thought to himself as he watched Kara run after her daughter,having to skid on a sudden turn before grabbing up the child and stumbling forward a bit before sitting on the floor tickling her with Belle squealing out and giggling hard. "No mommy! No!!!" Kara grinned and purred, kissing the child all over her face while Jack watched. Normally this would go unnoticed by him but the giggles were almost infectious as he found himself fighting the urge to chuckle as he watched.
After a few minutes he pulled the door fully open as Kara got to her feet with Belle in her arms. Kara spotted him and lowered her ears back a bit. "Good morning...sir." There was a stiffness in Kara's voice that even Jack noticed as he raised a brow. Belle looked over to him and giggled as she twitched her ears a few times. "Good morning Kara....and good morning little ball of giggles." Belle grinned and twitched her ears before she spoke in a squeaky voice. "Hi!"
Kara twitched her ears some and watched him for a moment before she spoke. "Sorry if she woke you...she woke up in a good mood." Kara turned to take Belle back to her room while Jack smiled. "It is no problem...it is a change waking up to a child giggling..." Jack watched Kara disappear into Belles room before the door closed. Part of him wondered what was up with the stiffness in her tone but he pushed those thoughts aside and went back to his room to get a shower as well as get dressed.
The shower didn't take him long as he was just getting himself cleaned off from the night before. While he was in the shower Kara got Belle dressed in some little jeans and a t-shirt before taking her downstairs and sitting her on the couch with some morning cartoons while she went to fix breakfast. As Jack had finished getting dressed he grabbed his tie and began making his way downstairs, working on getting the tie on when he heard the tv going, grinning some as he peeked in to see the little girl relaxed on the couch. He walked over and sat down beside her for a moment while she sniffed a bit at him. She looked to him and spoke softly. "you smell like wood!" Jack had to laugh at that and nodded. "Yes little one...Sandlewood if i remember correctly. I grabbed the wrong bottle of fur wash." Belle was silent for a moment before she giggled and purred. "Mommy made me smell like Cotton Candy!" Jack grinned as he looked at her before picking her up making her squeal out and giggle. "Oh? Is that so?" He brought her close and playfully sniffed at her, making her giggle even harder before tickling the little girl. "Ah! You do smell like candy!" Belle giggled and tried pushing his hands away while Kara came to see what was going on, looking a bit stunned to see him playing with her.
Kara watched the two for a moment before going back to the kitchen. Kara shook her head some and smiled a bit, glad to hear Belle wasn't afraid of him and was giggling. Kara cooked up the rest of the pancake batter she had mixed up, adding blueberries to it as she did. A few minutes would go by before Kara called out. "Belle! Come on into the kitchen. Breakfast is ready!" Jack perked his ears up when he heard that and grinned to the little girl still in his arms. "You heard her little one. Come on." He got up and laid her over one of his shoulders as he walked into the kitchen with Belle grinning like crazy. "Hi mommy!" Belle looked to her mother who purred. "Are you being a pain Belle?" Jack shook his head as he set Belle down in a seat before gently ruffling her hair. "Not one bit." He smiled and looked to Kara, grinning a bit while she lowered her ears back and looked away. Jack moved to get some coffee while Kara fixed up a plate with two pancakes on it, cutting it up before putting some syrup on it then placing it down in front of her daughter.
"That smells wonderful Kara. I won't be eating though. I have a morning full of meetings so I better get going." He filled up a to go cup of coffee before walking over to her and gently petting under her chin, watching as her head went back with a faint purr coming from her while her face showed she was annoyed with herself for letting it happen. "I will be home late tonight. So please just save me a plate of dinner for tonight." He scratched a bit more then went over to Belle, ruffling her hair a bit. "I will see you later little one. Have fun today." Belle giggled and nodded. "Ok!"
After saying good bye to the mother and child Jack walked out to his car, getting behind the wheel with a sigh coming from him. "Alright Jack don't go getting attached....it won't last with her working here...She will get fed up at some point." He started his car and soon took off into town with his ears laid back against his head as he made his way to a warehouse near the harbor of the city.
Thedrive from his home to the harbor was about an hour and a half for him which didn't bother him much. Once he got there the doors to a warehouse he owned opened up for him and hedrove the car right inside before parking and turning it off. He stepped out and looked around. The warehouse was dark save for a lit area a few feet away with several other males hunched over a table with what appeared to drugs being portioned out. Jack twitched his tail and walked over as the men looked to him for a moment. "Hey boss...your early....your never early." Jack shrugged some as he moved to sit down in a chair at the table, looking over some information in a ledger book. "I have my own reasons for being early Hiss....is this all of it?" The male snake nodded a bit to him as he finished sealing up a small bag. "Yeah it is....we were shorted this time...the guy gave me a message to give to you. 'Tell the flea bag he can bring it up to me if he wants but this is all the little fucker is getting' Those were his words boss." Jack flattened his ears back and growled as he rubbed his forehead a bit. "Hiss remember that use for your venom?" Hiss nodded some as he looked to his boss. "Yes....want me to go make up a small batch?" Jack nodded and stood up from his chair as he pulled out his phone. "yeah...get a batch mixed up tonight and make sure it is ready for me in the morning." He was typing up a message to this provider to meet him for dinner the next night to talk over their deal.
That day was spent in the warehouse with his men, bagging up what looked like cocaine and such into little baggies. Carefully weighed out. Jack had always had it pure and was insanely nit picky on who he got it from in order to sell it. Jack after a while finally checked the time on his phone and groaned. "Jesus boys we have been here for about eight or nine hours...." Hiss looked to him and nodded. "I will be here all night making up the poison you asked for...Me and the boys can finish out....go on home boss." Jack nodded some. He trusted Hiss and the others to do this without them fucking him over. Jack stretched as he stood and headed out. "Get some sleep tomorrow boys as soon as this is doe and -" "Don't forget to lock down the warehouse when we leave. We know boss." Hiss grinned some as Jack shook his head with a chuckle before getting into his car and heading out as soon as the warehouse doors opened up.
Jack made that long drive home yet again, letting out a yawn as he would pull into his drive way and into the garage. He parked and turned off the car before heading inside only to see Kara standing in the kitchen wearing a thin nightgown while making up some drink for her to sip on. Belle had long since been put down for bed so Kara was left alone till now. Jack grinned faintly and walked into the kitchen, rubbing his hand over her rear and making her jump as she gasped a bit. Jack chuckled as he looked at her. "your jumpy..." Kara blushed and nodded some as she pushed a bit of her hair from her face. "Yeah....well you are going around sneaking up on people. Pretty sure that gives me the right to be jumpy." She put the bottle of juice back into the fridge before sipping on her cup a few times before moving to the oven and pulling out a plate with a large steak, loaded baked potato and some veggies on it. "Here...Belle demanded steak tonight."
Jack stood his ears up when he saw the food then went a bit wide eyed as his stomach let out a growl. Kara had to smile at that as she spoke. "Sounds like your starving." She walked over to the table with the plate and set it down. "Do you want it warmed up?" Jack shook his head and smiled. "Nah that is fine.....but I would enjoy it if you would sit with me while I eat....perhaps talk to me?" Kara blinked a bit in surprise then nodded some as she moved to sit down on the other side of the table with her cup while Jack sat and began cutting on his steak. "How was your day having the house to yourself?" Kara twitched her ears and shrugged. "Good....Though Belle asked me more then once when you were coming back so she could play with you...seems you have made a friend in her." Jack grinned faintly, knowing this was a bad idea but he couldn't help it. She had his interest but he wasn't sure why. "She seems like a sweet kid....where is her father?" Kara lowered her ears some and sighed. "I don't know and I don't give a flying fuck on where he is." Jack stared at her in surprise before swallowing the bite of veggies he had taken. "May I ask why?"
Kara was silent for a moment as she stared down at her cup, toying with it for a moment before she spoke softly. "I met him when I was in college....I was going for design....was about half way in when I got pregnant....I told my ex about it and he threw me out of the apartment we shared...moving his side chick in that same night....Told me he didn't want to deal with a crying, bratty little kid and told me to leave...threw everything I owned out into the street..." Jack flattened his ears back and gripped his fork tightly in his hand as he watched her while listening to her. "I had to make the choice....abort Belle and stay in school...Or drop out and do what I could for my child..." Jack nodded some as she was looking to him. "I see....that is rather...awful for a man to do that....but you have a wonderful daughter..." Kara nodded a bit as she looked towards the stairs for a moment before looking back to him. "I know...she is sweet. Nothing like her father....he was the biggest asshole I have ever met in my life....the only good thing from that relationship is her....hell I almost didn't make it to be honest..." Jack raised a brow as he looked at her before she shook her head and finished off her juice. "Look Kara....go on to bed...I won't drag you into bed tonight." Kara looked to him and nodded some, thanking him softly as she turned to head upstairs for the night. Once Jack was alone he snarled out and sighed. "Why does that bother me so much?" Jack shook his head and finished eating before getting up and cleaning his plate before heading to bed himself, his last thought on Kara and Belle before sleep took him.
