"I've always imagined myself being nervous on my first date." He said. "I thought I would be nervous about messing up and embarrassing myself around my date. But Instead I'm nervous that somepony is going to see me with my date."

Twilight laughed.

"I know what you mean." She said. "First dates suck. You're worried you're going to make a mistake, and things are awkward. But I don't feel any of those things with you Shining. My relationship with you...it's so natural."

"Yeah..." He said, sighing contently. "I'm sometimes nervous around mares that I'm attracted to, but not with you Twily."

Shining reached over and pecked her on the cheek affectionately.

The taxi slowed down to a gradual stop. As they looked out the side of the taxi they were greeted by the sight of the Bistro La Raanz in all its glory. The building itself looked brand new and there was a delicious smell in the air. Shining got out of the taxi quickly and held Twilight's hoof as she stepped out after him. He threw a bit to the driver and they walked up to the restaurant, both hungry and eager to try a new place.

As they entered the restaurant they were enveloped in a romantic Italian atmosphere. Classic Italian music played in the background, and warmth spread through the building from the large fireplace in the center. A pony dressed in a suit and bowtie came up to them with a large smile on his face.

"Ah, Monsieur, Monsieur, welcome to Bistro La Raanz!" He said. "Can I get you a table for two for you and your marefriend?"

Shining blushed at the mention of his "marefriend."

Twilight kissed him on the check affectionately.

"S-sure." He said, embarrassed.

"Ah, I have the perfect table for the cute couple." He said. "Right this way!"

Twilight bowled past her brother, who was still trying to recover from the impromptu kiss she had just given him, but he recovered and followed quickly behind her.

He glanced around the restaurant and was immediately self-conscious. All the ponies in the restaurant were dressed so formally, yet he and Twilight were completely naked. She really had taken them to a nice restaurant. He could only hope he had enough bits to pay for it.

As they approached the table Shining quickly realized that it was right in front of the fireplace.

"See, I have the best seat in the house reserved for the cute couple." The restaurant pony proclaimed, gesturing to the small table.

Thankfully he hadn't said it so loud as to be disruptive, but Shining was sure that some ponies had heard him. Italian ponies were usually way too enthusiastic for his taste, which was one of the reasons he didn't generally like Italian restaurants. But he'd do anything for his Twily.

Another restaurant pony came by and lit their candles and put a vase of flowers on their table before bowing out gracefully and gesturing for them to sit down.

Twilight blushed as they sat down together.

"What is it?" He asked.

"This place is so romantic, and we have the best seat!" She squealed quietly.

Shining laughed.

"I'm glad you like it Twily." He said, bringing a hoof across the table and touching hers affectionately.

Shining looked down at his menu and to his relief the prices weren't too out of line. It was still a fancy place, but the atmosphere made him think it was going to be outrageously priced. He scanned the menu for a few minutes before he heard Twilight set her menu down onto the table.

"You know what you want?" He asked.

"Yup!" She said happily.

He smiled and looked back at his menu.

"Welcome to Bistro La Raanz!" A suited pony said as he approached their table. "I'll be your waiter today. Are you ready to order?"

"I...yeah..." Shining said, putting down his menu.

"Miss, would you like to go first?" The waiter asked.

"Sure." She said. "I'll have your special from the appetizers for two please and an order of flowered noodles."

"Ah, a good choice Miss." The waiter said, noting the order down quickly. "And for you Monsieur?"

"I'll have the same, without the appetizer for two of course." He said quickly.

"Ah, yes very good Monsieur." He said. "We'll have it right out for you."

With that the waiter bowed out quickly.

Shining noticed Twilight looking at him with smirk on her face.

"W-what...?" He said trailing off.

"You." She said. "You're still nervous."

"I know." He said quietly. "I'm sorry. I just can't help it."

The appetizer arrived quickly and they dug in hungrily. The house wine tasted fantastic and went well with the appetizer. Shining was starting to really get into the date when he felt a hoof on his shoulder. It took all his training as a Royal Guard to resist yelping in surprise.

"Hey Shining, it's good to see you!" The pony said enthusiastically.

Shining turned to his right to face the pony whose voice he recognized.

"Flin!" Shining exclaimed, nearly choking on the bite he still had in his mouth. He swallowed quickly.

"Sorry I've been gone for a while, but I'll be back tomorrow." He said. "Been a little under the weather recently."

"Sounds good." Shining said, smiling.

"So, are you going to introduce me to your date?" Flin asked enthusiastically. "Damn, she's a looker!"

Shining cleared his throat.

"Actually, this is my sister." He said, annoyance evident in his voice.

"Oh, so you must be Twilight!" Flin said, totally ignoring Shining's annoyed expression. "Shining has told me all about you."

"Oh he has, has he?" Twilight asked, surprised.

"Oh yeah." He said. "You're the nerdy little mare that can't keep her nose out of a book, aren't ya?"

Twilight blushed in embarrassment.

"I guess that's me." She said. "And you are?"

"Oh, how rude of me!" Flin exclaimed. "I'm part of Shining's squad. He's my captain and longtime friend."

"I see." Twilight said.

"But anyway, seeing as you're not on a date here, how would you like to go out with me sometime?" He said, bringing a hoof up under her chin.

"Hooves off!" Shining exclaimed, slapping his hoof away.

"Hey Shining, don't be like that!" Flin whined, a hurt expression on his face.

Shining suddenly realized what he did and he blushed in embarrassment.

"S-sorry." He said. "I'm just a little protective I guess..."

"Well I would be too if she were my sister." He said. "I'm sure you've had to chase more than your fair share of stallions away for her."

Twilight cleared her throat, which brought Flin's attention back to her.

"I'm sorry Flin, but I'm already seeing somepony." She said.

"Oh you are huh?" He asked. "Too bad. All the good ones are always taken. But hey, you can't fault a guy for trying can ya?"

"Not at all." She said, smiling politely.

"So what are you doing here?" Shining asked, glaring at Flin.

"Oh I'm just here with my family celebrating grandmare's eightieth birthday." He said, gesturing behind him to a table of what Shining would estimate to be around twenty ponies.

Shining whistled.

"Eighty?" He asked incredulously. "Impressive."

"Yeah I know, right?" Flin said, laughing. "It's been nice chatting but I've gotta be getting back to the family now. It was nice to meet you Twilight. See you tomorrow Shining."

Shining and Twilight both said their farewells before turning back to their own table. Shining could see their waiter approaching with a tray full of food so he waited until he had served their meals and left their table before turning back to Twilight.

"Sorry." He said. "I don't know what came over me."

"A little jealousy perhaps?" Twilight teased.

"Maybe..." He said, smiling back. "Can you blame me?"

"Nope!" Twilight exclaimed, smiling widely before digging into her food.

They ate in silence the rest of the dinner, each enjoying the other's company. When they were finished, Shining pulled out his small bag of bits to pay.

"Don't worry about it Shining." Twilight said, pulling out her own money.

"W-what?" He asked in surprise.

"I've got it." She said.

"You're not paying Twilight." He said.

"Yes I am." She said insistently. "It was my idea and I know how poor you are after paying for all those video games."

"But Twi, you're my date." He said. "I should pay."

"I'm also your sister." She said. "And I want to do this for you. I know you're saving up for that newest game system."

"But Twily..." He said.

"No buts." She said, looking at him in determination. "The stipend I get from being Celestia's pupil isn't much, but I never really buy anything so I've got loads of money saved up."

Shining knew not to argue with his sister when she got like this. It wouldn't end well.

"T-thanks Twily." He said.

Their bill paid and their bellies full, they walked out of the restaurant happily. They were both a little drunk from the wine, but not so much that they were inebriated. They began the long walk home, both of them preferring to walk off their large meal rather than take a taxi again.

As they walked along the streets of Canterlot, Twilight kept biting his ear playfully. He enjoyed her playfully sexual moves in silence, not returning her affections for fear that he might lose control of his desires and make a scene in public. As their house came into view, he put his hoof up against her chest to stop her displays of affection. At first she was confused and a little put off by his actions, but when she noticed they were almost home she righted herself and walked alongside him properly.

As they approached the house and opened the sliding door they were greeted by the sight of their parents in the kitchen.

"Where have you two been?" Their mother asked.

"Oh we just went out for a while." Twilight said casually.

They walked past their parents quickly to avoid any more questions and walked up the stairs. When they reached the top they turned to look at each other.

"Wanna come to my room?" Shining asked hopefully.

"No." Twilight said simply.

His face fell and she giggled.

"You come to mine instead." She said.

Shining's face brightened and he followed her into her bedroom.

Twilight crawled into bed and he followed after her after securely locking the door behind him.

One month later...

The sound of a shrill whistle filled the training gym of the Royal Guard.

"Okay, I wanna see you do 20 more laps!" Shining shouted.

His team looked at him like he had just killed a puppy, but continued without argument. Even though they had already done 100 laps and were completely and totally spent, what the captain said goes.

Shining was concentrating on his team to make sure nopony fell behind when the sound of the gym doors opening diverted his attention. He turned to see the majestic Princess Cadence walk into the gym and head towards him.

"P-Princess..." He said, bowing. "What a pleasant surprise."

Cadence laughed, shaking her head as she pretended to chastise him. "Now Shining, what have I told you about calling me Princess all the time?"

"Sorry Cadence." He said. "It's just a natural reaction."

"Hey, don't fall behind your teammates!" Shining yelled, blowing his whistle.

He turned back to Cadence, who had a serious look on her face.

"Shining...can I talk to you?" She asked uncertainly.

"Sure." He said, turning towards her.

"In private if that's okay." She said.

"O-oh, sure." He said, gesturing towards his office that was a few feet away.

Cadence smiled and walked into his office. He followed her inside and shut the door behind him.

"What is it Cadence?" He asked, concern in his voice.

"Shining...you and I have been friends for quite a while," She said. "I've tried to be as good a friend as possible but there's something you need to know."

"What is it?" Shining asked curiously.

"Well...I know this sounds strange coming from the Princess of Love herself, but it's taken me a while to come to terms with how I feel about you." She said. "But I know now that I want us to be more than just friends."

Shining's eyes widened hearing this. He'd spent a lot of time with Cadence over the past few weeks and considered her a close friend. And he'd be lying if he said he wasn't wildly attracted to her. She was a princess after all. Part of him was gleeful beyond words that a pony as amazing as she was would even be interested in him that way. But then his excitement turned to guilt as he thought of Twilight.

"I-I'm sorry Cadence, but I'm seeing somepony else right now..." He said quietly, lowering his head.

"You are?" She asked, surprised. "Who?"

There was a moment of silence between them as Shining tried to think of an answer as quickly as possible. He hadn't been expecting her to ask that.

"W-well she doesn't want it to be public yet and we just started seeing each other..." He said nervously.

"Ooh." Cadence said, interest creeping into her voice. "Sounds scandalous."

Shining blushed at the word scandalous.

"Oh, so it is scandalous!" She exclaimed as she noticed his blush. "What, is she some hotshot rich mare that doesn't want to be seen with you or something?"

Shining Armor backed up against the wall to his office, his blush deepening.

"I-I..." He said nervously.

"Well she must be somepony special to be able to compete with a princess." She said, turning and rubbing herself against him lovingly.

"Y-yeah, she is..." Shining said, his voice trailing off.

Shining felt his member jump as she rubbed against him. He mentally chastised himself as he thought of Twilight. She was probably sitting in class right now thinking about him and here he was getting aroused by another mare...

"Well, if you ever break up with her or if you change your mind, you know where to find me..." Cadence said, turning and heading towards the door.

Shining hadn't been expecting that response from her and stood there dumbfounded for a moment.

"C-Cadence wait!" He exclaimed. "Aren't you...you know...upset?"

Cadence turned to face him again.

"Of course not Shining." She said, smiling. "I care about you and I want you to be happy. I'm not going anywhere so if and when it comes to an end I'll be waiting for you. I don't have eyes for anypony but you and I can't imagine that changing."

With that said and a quick flick of her tail she opened the door and left Shining with a dumbfounded look on his face.

Shining had just gotten the orders the next morning. He along with his squad was being transferred to one of the main outer territory bases. It hit his parents pretty hard, but that was nothing compared to how Twilight was taking the news. They were sharing their last night together, wrapped in each other's hooves.

"But why Shining?" Twilight whined, tears stinging her eyes.

"Because, I don't have a choice." He said sadly. "When you're an officer of the Royal Guard you go where you're sent."

"Then let me come with you!" Twilight said, embracing him tightly.

"You can't Twily." He said, hugging her against his strong form. "You'd have to drop out of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, and you can't do that. Besides, we're not allowed to bring family onto the bases."

"What if I enlist?" She asked hopefully.

"Are you crazy?!" Shining exclaimed. "You're a mare for one."

"Mares are allowed to serve." She pointed out. "They dropped the requirement for an all stallion guard decades ago."

"I-I know." Shining said quietly. "But I don't want anything to happen to you. You're just not guard material Twilight."

"But how else can I be with you?" She asked sadly.

"You can't." He said. "But it's only four years, and I can come back home to visit twice a year."

"Why are they transferring you?" She asked. "Why can't they transfer somepony else?"

"It's actually a promotion." Shining said. "This could mean big things for my rank. But I promise, someday I'll become Captain of the Guard, and I'll do it just for you. If I become Captain, I can go anywhere I want."

"Captain?" Twilight said incredulously. "You sure do dream big Shining."

"Hey, it could happen." He said indignantly. "And from now on, that's my goal so I can spend all my free time with my little sister."

"You're the best Shining." Twilight said happily, nuzzling against him affectionately. "Just promise me something will you?"

"Anything." He said.

"Promise me I'll always be your mare." She said quietly. "I couldn't bear to see you with anypony else."

"I-I promise Twily." He said, hugging against her tightly, feeling his own tears stream down his face.

When she had first heard the news, Twilight was shocked. She felt betrayed, and then angry. It took everything she had not to explode in front of her friends when she had gotten the wedding invitation, but she couldn't hide her tears. Wedding? Surely this had to be some kind of sick joke, right? Shining...Shining loved her...right? Had he forgotten the promise he made to her four years ago?

She had been totally distracted the whole time trying to deal with the "evil" Princess Cadence who turned out to be Queen Chrysalis and hadn't had the time to confront her brother about the wedding. And after their display of affection that expelled the changelings, she knew that he had true feelings for Cadence. Magic like that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

She wiped the tears from her eyes as she continued looking for her brother. She knew that Cadence was in the kitchen with Applejack tasting the hors d'oeuvres. She couldn't let the wedding go forward without at least speaking to him. She had disrupted the wedding before (albeit under different circumstances) and she would do it again if necessary. She rounded another corner and came to the double doors to the audience room where the actual wedding would be held. She'd looked pretty much everywhere else already. This was the last place left to look. She took a deep breath and pushed the doors open with her magic.

Shining Armor had been looking out the window down at the streets of Canterlot below when he heard the double doors open and Twilight walk in. He looked over at her with a blank expression on his face.

"H-hey Twily..." He said quietly, turning back to look out the window.

Twilight closed the doors behind her, eager for a bit of privacy so she could talk with her brother.

"Shining...we need to talk..." Twilight said, walking up and sitting next to him.

Her brother cringed. He hadn't been looking forward to this conversation.

"I-I know Twily." He said, looking back at her. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Cadence until you got the wedding invitation, but I just didn't know how to tell you."

Twilight's eyes burned with tears.

"Why?" She asked.

It was a simple question, but not something that he had a simple answer to.

"I love her." He said simply.

"More than me?" She asked, pain in her voice.

"No." He said. "But I can't marry you."

"But you promised that I'd always be your mare." She said, her tears flowing freely.

"W-we can't Twilight." He said, sadness in his voice. "I love you so much, but we just can't."

"Why not?" She cried.

"Because you're my sister!" He exclaimed angrily.

There was a long moment of silence between them. The only sound in the room was Twilight's choked sobbing. She couldn't believe she was hearing this. What happened? Why was he suddenly so against them being together?

"W-wasn't..." She said, crying softly. "Wasn't I good enough?"

Shining wrapped his hooves around her and pulled her against him in a tight embrace.

"You were more than good enough." He said. "And if you weren't my sister I'd be marrying you right now. But it's just not meant to be Twilight."

Shining Armor felt his heart being crushed as well, and hearing his sister sob made him want to cancel the wedding immediately. But his heart was pulled in two directions. He loved Cadence too. He felt completely and totally torn.

"Please Shining..." Twilight said, sobbing softly. "Please, if you love me, call off the wedding. I may not ever be able to be your wife, but I want to be with you Shining."

"Twilight...I..." He said, trailing off.

Twilight reached up and brought them into a passionate kiss. Shining Armor felt his heart break under the intense emotions emanating from his sister. He couldn't do this to her. He just couldn't. He loved her too much.

"O-okay..." He said. "I'll go tell her..."

"You will?" Twilight asked in disbelief.

"Twilight, I love you more than anything in the world and even though it's going to hurt me, I'd rather hurt me than hurt you." He said.

"You really love her, don't you?" She asked.

"Y-yeah..." He said. "I do..."

"I'm sorry Shining." She said quietly. "I'm sorry to ask you to leave her like this, but if you leave me I think I'm going to die of sadness..."

As much as Shining loved Cadence, he couldn't imagine leaving Twilight either.

"I'll be back." He said. "You stay here. I'll come get you once everything's been called off."

"Okay." She said, hugging him tightly. "Thank you Shining."

She let go of him and he galloped out of the audience room as quickly as he could. He knew that if he didn't tell her soon he wouldn't be able to. It took him a while but he found her in one of the guest bedrooms with Fluttershy, checking on the music for the wedding. He knocked on the door with a hoof and the birds stopped singing.

"I-I'm sorry to interrupt, but can I have a moment alone with Cadence?" He asked, looking over at Fluttershy.

"Oh of course." She said.

Fluttershy nodded and all the birds flew over and landed on her as she walked towards the door. Once she was safely out of the room he shut the door behind her with magic. Now alone with his soon to be ex-fiancé, he sighed.

"What is it Shining?" Cadence asked, concerned.

She'd known him for a long time and knew that there was something serious he wanted to talk to her about.

"We need to talk." He said bluntly.

"Ooh, it sounds like you're breaking up with me." Cadence teased.

She was expecting to catch Shining off guard and was expecting his confused, flustered denials. When none came, she got a knot in the pit of her stomach.

"Shining, what is it?" She asked, even more concerned.

He took a deep breath. He loved Cadence. He really did. It hurt him to even think about saying the words, let alone to actually say them. But he thought about Twilight and how much he'd already hurt her. No. He had to do this. He steeled himself before just bluntly blurting it out.

"The wedding's off." He said simply.

"Oh no, is there a problem?" Cadence asked.

Cadence was expecting him to say that the changelings were coming back or that half the population of Canterlot had gotten food poisoning or something. She was totally unprepared for what he said next.

"I'm not marrying you." He said, stomping his hoof on the floor resolutely.

"What do you mean you're not marrying me?" She asked incredulously.

"Exactly that." He said. "We're done. I'm breaking up with you."

"WHAT?!" She exclaimed. "Shining, what happened?!"

"I-I don't want to talk about it." He said, his heart breaking.

Shining knew he had to get out of there or he wouldn't be able to make a clean cut.

"You can't just break up with me and not even tell me why!" She exclaimed. "What happened between when we blew the changelings away with our love and now? Are you getting cold hooves?"

"No, nothing like that." He said.

"Then tell me why!" She said, tears welling up in her eyes. "What could possibly make you want to break up with me?!"

"Oh Cadence..." He said, walking up to her and embracing her tightly. "I love you."

"Then why do you want to break up with me?" She asked.

Shining's heart hurt. Between Twilight and now Cadence, he wasn't sure his heart could take any more abuse. Poor Cadence. He couldn't just leave her like this. She deserved an answer as to why he was tearing her hear out.

"Look Cadence, I'll tell you why but you've got to promise not to share what I say with anypony else." He said.

She looked at him in surprise but nodded, eager to hear his reason.

"I promise." She said.

"I-I love you so much Cadence." He said. "But there's another pony that I love even more."

"Who?" She asked, tears now dripping onto the floor below.

"T-Twilight..." He said, turning away from her.

"Twilight?" Cadence asked in surprise. "You mean...?"

He nodded, unable to say it out loud. "Remember that time in my office when you tried to tell me about your feelings for me and I told you I was already seeing somepony else?"

"Yes." She said simply.

"It was Twilight." He said, turning towards her again. "I was having sex with Twilight."

Shining Armor stood there waiting for the angry shouts to start, or for a slap on the face but it never came. What came instead was a complete shock to Shining.

Cadence laughed. It started out as gentle laughter but got louder and more unwieldly as she continued. Shining stood there in bewilderment as his now ex-fiancé laughed at him.

"It's not funny!" He exclaimed angrily. "I love her!"

Cadence's laughter ended abruptly as she realized how laughing at that moment might have seemed.

"No, no." She said, laughing again. "I'm just relieved is all. I'm so, so relieved."

Shining still wasn't getting it so he stood there dumbly just waiting for her to elaborate. Seeing as he didn't understand she decided to clarify.

"This is perfect." Cadence said, smiling widely. "This is absolutely perfect!"

"What are you talking about Cadence?" He asked, his anger starting to build.

"I'm saying that I'm fine with you having sex with Twilight." She said.

Shining Armor's anger evaporated immediately and was replaced with complete and total shock. His mouth hung open as he tried to process what she had just said.

"W-what?!" He exclaimed.

"I said I'm fine with you having sex with Twilight." She said. "I think you two are very cute together."

"Y-you mean you want us to get married but it's okay if I'm with Twilight too?" He asked, still not believing what he was hearing.

"That's exactly what I mean." Cadence said, bringing him into a quick hug.

"B-but she's my sister!" He exclaimed. "Don't you think that's wrong?"

"Shining, I'm the princess of love, remember?" She asked. "Incest may be a taboo, but so long as it's consensual and no foals are born from it I'm totally fine with it."

"But what about our marriage?" He asked. "I don't want an open marriage Cadence."

"Neither do I, but I don't consider including Twilight to be an open marriage." She said.

"But why?" He asked. "Why would you allow this? Why would you approve of this?"

"Shining, let me tell you something." She said. "Incest is a very special thing when it happens between two mature ponies. It takes true love to break down those barriers. Incest is probably the strongest form of love because it combines both familial love and sexual love. You proved how strong your love for her really was just now when you were willing to cancel our marriage for Twilight. Our love is so strong it can banish and entire population of changelings, but your love for Twilight is even stronger. That really says something."

"I know, but Cadence..." He said.

She silenced him by holding up a hoof.

"I know you love me Shining." She said. "And I know you love Twilight. The problem is, only one of our loves can survive in the open. Shining, you're going to need a wife. I'll be your wife and you can continue being with Twilight in secret. Nopony would ever guess that you were with Twilight. But if neither of you ever marries and you're always spending time alone together, ponies will start so suspect something isn't right with your relationship."

Shining's eyes widened at the realization. He'd never thought about that before.

"As for Twilight, she's such a shy bookish pony that nopony would be surprised if she takes a long time to get married." She said. "And when she eventually does get married, you two can still be together in secret."

Shining felt a twinge of jealousy thinking about Twilight getting married to another stallion. Now he had a small taste of what it must have been like for Twilight to hear of his future marriage to Cadence.

"I'll be you and Twilight's cover." She continued. "Nopony would ever suspect that you'd cheat on the princess of love herself, least of all with your own sister. Of course, most ponies don't know the power of incestuous love."

"You'd really do that?" Shining asked in amazement.

"Of course." She said, smiling. "As the princess of love it's my duty to spread love across all of Equestria, and to help nurture and grow love where it already exists. And I can tell that you and Twilight love each other very much."

"T-Thank you Cadence!" Shining exclaimed, hugging her enthusiastically. "Wait until I tell Twilight!"

"Whoa, wait a minute." Cadence said. "Where is she?"

"I left her in the audience room." He said. "I told her I'd come and get her once I'd called off the wedding."

"Well let's go there together." She suggested. "Hopefully we can get there before other ponies start showing up."

Twilight was feeling guilty - horribly guilty. She knew her brother loved Cadence, and she knew that Cadence loved him. As much as she wanted Shining to herself, she felt bad for him and Cadence. She was about to get up and see if she could salvage the situation when the doors to the audience room opened and her brother and Cadence stepped inside.

At first she was confused. Then she felt anger and bitterness flare up inside of her. Cadence didn't seem distraught, which is what she'd expect if Shining had just called off the wedding. In fact, she looked happy! Did he not tell her yet? If not, why would he bring her here?

Shining Armor closed the doors to the audience room with his magic and walked up to where Twilight was standing next to his fiancé. She wanted to say something, but thought it would be best if her brother spoke first. To her surprise however, it was Cadence that broke the silence.

"I heard about you and Shining." She said.

Twilight's anger and annoyance turned to complete and total shock, shame, and embarrassment. She blushed furiously at the thought that Cadence knew their secret.

"Congratulations." Cadence said, smiling widely. "I'm very happy for you two."

Twilight looked at her in confusion. There was no way she was talking about her and Shining's sexual relationship.

"Huh?" Twilight asked, now totally confused.

"She knows Twilight." Shining said, smiling as well.

"Knows?" Twilight asked, getting a little dizzy.

"She knows about us." Shining clarified.

Twilight's mouth dropped open as she looked between her brother and Cadence, who both had big smiles on their faces.

"I'm willing to let you be with him, but I still want to marry him." Cadence said. "I love him."

"By be with him, you mean...?" Twilight asked, trailing off.

"You can have sex with each other whenever you want to." She said. "No restrictions."

"Really?" Twilight asked.

"Really." Cadence said simply.

"But why?" Twilight asked, not quite believing it.

"Because I know you love each other." She said. "If you weren't his sister I'd never allow it, but I believe your relationship is special."

Twilight's smiled so widely it felt like her smile was too big for her face.

"You're the best Cadence!" She exclaimed, pulling her into a hug along with Shining.

Both Shining and Cadence laughed happily as they shared the hug.

Suddenly the doors burst open. All three ponies looked back and saw Applejack and Pinkie Pie standing in the doorway.

"Hey, where's your dress Princess?" Applejack asked. "The crowds are coming!"

"Oh, I'd better get dressed real fast!" Cadence said, sprinting off to change.

"Me too!" Shining exclaimed, rushing off as well.

Rarity came around the corner and walked into the room behind Applejack and Pinkie Pie.

"There you are darling!" She exclaimed, looking at Twilight. "I have your dress for you. Now put it on quick! The ponies are coming!"

Twilight ran up to her and hugged her tightly.

"Thanks Rarity." She said. "Sorry I forgot it in my room."

"Not a problem darling, just get changed."

Twilight stood next to Shining Armor as they waited for Cadence to come through the door. She noticed that the crest on his chest was slightly crooked, probably from the rush changing job he did a few moments ago. She fired up her horn and adjusted it so that it looked right. They shared a knowing glance with each other as the music started and Cadence came through the door dressed in her gorgeous wedding gown.

As Cadence walked down the isle they shared a knowing glance as well and Twilight realized that she felt happy. Truly, truly happy. She was finally able to be with her brother, and she was gaining a new sister in law too. She expected to experience a bit of jealousy as she watched them kiss, but experienced nothing but happiness for them. She felt tears in her eyes as she realized that this was a day she would remember forever.

As they got into their carriage and traveled away, the horseshoes clinking behind them, she felt another set of emotions bubbling to the surface. She felt a little envious of Cadence seeing as she was going on a week long honeymoon with him, but also eagerness and anticipation for when they got back. For when they got back, she was going to get a week of her own alone with her brother, and she knew just where they were going to go...
