Chapter 2
#3 of Nightingale
Chapter #2
Aboard Border Guardian 317
Lights flashed on across the kilometer long ship as a distress beacon warped in just five kilometers away. The bio-mechanical crew moved from their stasis chambers and to their stations, only a relative few heading to the command room. Anti-matter powered engines flared to life across the "bladed" ship, while it's weapons and control surfaces worked themselves from end to end.
Unit two sixteen, or Lu as "she" preferred was one of the crew that moved to the room. A biped that was one of the first generation to truly be "born", her organics were a melding of several species, while her synthetics blended with her organics. Humanoid in form, her upper and lower body had bone-like plates over main fighting points, retractable talons in her hands and feet, pale white flesh, and deep green hair. She was one of only two hundred and ninety units to survive the growing process, of one thousand five hundred. She was proud that her structure and dna had helped the second batch get to eighty three percent survival rate. Even of the two hundred and ninety, she was one of the few who didn't require more hardware to survive, though she wore armor that enhanced her ability to fight.
As she entered the command room, a recording was playing from the center holo-display. "This is Station commander O'Connell, we are going to be under heavy assault in a moment from the Federation. I have been forced to return this station to full battle readiness, but we are low on support craft and supplies. I beg that anyone that gets this message comes to our aid." Lu listened intently as the recording played over a few more times, her bio-mechanical eyes taking in every factor. The recording hadn't been made in a command setting, instead it had been in a gore filled hallway.
The recording stopped finally and 317's AI appeared on the holo-display, a grim look on it's almost draconian Eda'ku face. "We cannot allow the Federation to take that station, or take a foot hold in that system. It allows them too great a weapon, or too close a launching point for further attacks into our nebula. All flight wings are to load and prepare for immediate launch, I am already powering the worm generator." It looked down over the flight commanders and touched it's forehead and then chest. "Fight well, I will come as soon as the worm is large enough."
The Vector's in the room turned toward their respective exits and ran as fast as they were safely able to, Lu at the lead of the group heading for her hanger. Within only a few moments she was thudding across the hanger decking, her gunship already powering up. Compared to other race's ships, it was barely the size of a torpedo bomber, but it held five times the firepower. She was quickly into the jagged craft's cockpit and securing herself, the command case sealing around her and filling with liquid. It bucked lightly as her arms latched into the control clusters. "This is two sixteen, ready to be launched." She voiced over her neural link as her gunship locked down onto the launch track.
Her craft's internal systems shut down for only four seconds as her gunship was launched from zero to point two light speed, coming back online as she reached the worm. She wasn't fully prepared to see what was on the other side of it, being the second to respond to the apparently multiple distress beacons launched.
The worm hurled her out above the planet Ne'Ki, her sensors relaying the battlefield information into her brain, and also back through the worm. One hundred and thirty two Federation ships held a staggered and moving formation that was essentially firing pot shots at either the station or it's aids. The Ne'Ki was moving around in an arcing maneuver that would bring it more to the federation's flank, a pirate ship and the station's fighter contingent moving with it. The aiding ships were what surprised her, a mix of Lo'Kar, Ca'zeze, White Sun, and even three Varren designed warships, though the entire group only consisted of sixty five ships. Her comm system came to life as her ships decoding programs decrypted the comm traffic from the two fleets.
"They are preparing to fully engage, defense fleet form up and prepare to defend the station." An older human male.
"This Is Captain Jack O'Connell, I need two of the Brisinger craft and Hellion flight to form up on the Nightingale. Prep for total chaos." This one intrigued her, the voice was translated already into basic.
"Target the station's weapons ports and avoid the main cannon's fire. Destroy all other craft." She could easily trace that back to the Federation command carrier. "Make sure the Apollo is ready to warp in, I'm not sure how many more reinforcements they're getting." She checked her database for that ship, but couldn't find anything.
A light flashed on her console a moment before a soft voice spoke clearly to her. "I hope that you and the other Vector craft that I've picked up are here to help us, we will need it. My sensors are picking up an enormous power signature on the other side of this system's sun." The voice was clearly synthetic, causing her to smile and bring her systems to full power. "I will let the other ships know you are here. We're here to assist."
"This is Unit two sixteen to all flights, move in to support the battle station and it's defense force." She got confirmations from the forty ships that had just exited the worm around her. "Thirteen, one hundred nine, and two eighty, you are to follow me and form up with the lead White Sun Frigate." She heard a few comments and forced her gunship into a dive toward the defense formation. "Just follow me, but keep your firewalls up. There's a military AI aboard the frigate."
"Looks like you got the neighbors to come out and play..." Rager said softly as he looked at the tactical screens, watching as forty one ships broke formation above the gas giant and formed up with the station and other ships in the defense group.
"Yes, and four of them are forming up with the Nightingale." Hovana growled out in basic as she stood over her husband and mate, her clawed hand tapping at a few of the controls. "I'll take the station, you command the ships Husband." She turned to get back into her command chair and stopped just short of it, locking down her boots on the deck plating as she faced the main screens. She tapped her comm and stared out at the enemy fleet. "Full power to the warp cores, divert power from cores one through four to the forward shields. Engines full burn forward into their fleet." She looked down at her station's "pilot" and smiled. "May the Goddess be with us. If they don't evade, ram them."
"All ships this is station control. Engage the enemy fleet!" Rager yelled into the comms. "White Sun flights go for full chaos! Kick em in the ass Lads and Lass's!"
"Bring the main cannon to full power, divert power from two more of the warp cores to it. Full roll to spread incoming fire once we're past the first line."
"Commander we have all green on the main cannon."
Hovana growled happily. "Spread fire with the cannons, and target their heavies with the main. I want to see what this old battle wagon can do."
Admiral Kerg watched as the defense force suddenly changed trajectory, their ships now doing full burns straight into his fleet. "This is Admiral Kerg to all battle groups, weapons free." He bellowed out as he sat in his command chair, the bustle and shouting around of relayed orders bringing a smile to his face. "Burn them down and let them suck vacuum."
"Sir the station is literally pushing straight for our fleet!" A tactical officer shouted, causing Kerg to lean forward in his chair. He worked hard on his screen for a moment as he ran the numbers. "Sir...it's pushing straight for US!"
"It's firing it's main gun!" came another shout.
Kerg stood from his chair and moved to the tactical displays, watching as a ball of plasma seemed to eat one of his frigates. "Space out the formations! And get the carriers moving, we can evade that thing." He now thought that maybe his volunteering for this mission wasn't such a grand idea. "Bring or own weapons online, load all tubes with breaching loads. The Federation can get a dented and slightly holy station."
The Nightingale shot downward from the station as they entered within knife fighting range. It's shielding instantly rippling as weapons fire reached out for it. "Bring us in close to those battle cruisers, Brisinger ships, prepare to give them full burns." Tinker ordered as Selic darted the frigate around the mass of heavy weapons fire. "Vector flight cover the Brisinger ships, Hellions keep on the Nightingale's six." Tinker could feel the ever so light shudders of the impacts on the shields, the high whine of the microwave emitters that sent concentrated beams of radar waves out ahead of the ship.
"Chaos in twenty seconds!" Sounded from the comms.
"The Federation's ships were already too closely grouped, over half of their misses on our ships are hitting their own." Eve's voice wasn't gentle anymore, her image showing static particles as she focused her processes on the ship not being turned into scrap. "Packages are also prepped and ready."
"Ten seconds."
Tinker let out a slow breath as he lined up the main gun with the lead battle cruiser, watching as the beams from the microwave cannons lit up it's shields. He hugged down on his triggers and didn't let up. His eyes followed the stream of slugs as they rocketed out through space.
Rager felt as if time slowed around him, dozens of camera feeds streaming in on the tactical screens he watched. "Chaos!" He yelled into the comm, watching a feed that was locked onto Tinker's group. All four of the Nightingale's torpedo tubes fired in unison as it banked close to a battle cruiser, but it wasn't normal torpedoes that were fired. Mining torpedo's used for boring into the thick crust of asteroids lumbered slowly through the weakened shield to drill into the ship. The two Brisinger ships spun themselves one hundred and eighty degrees and slowed just enough to pass through the enemies shields, their reinforced hulls slamming turrets down into hulls and overloading the local power systems. Brisinger ships had earned their name for their problems with plasma jets, if they went to full throttle too fast the ships would literally dump plasma from their main drives. A few tweaks from some pyromaniac engineers and the ships stopped melting their ports, and turned the three main engine ports into the space version of a flame thrower.
"Commander, we have a pair of battle cruisers in our path. They are banking hard to avoid us..." A tactical officer called out, a grim look on his face. "They can't bank hard enough!"
"Sound collision alarms!" Havana yelled out. "Gunnery stations fire on our impact points to soften them for us!"
"Firing!"
"Phalanx are at twenty five percent ammo, shields are now down to forty percent!" Eve called out wearily, her holo-display wavering more and more. "This ship is old Tinker, she won't last much longer under this stress!"
"Red here, I've only got a few launchers with ammo left!"
"Almost out too."
Tinker opened his mouth, only to hear Selic scream several Lo'Kar words he wouldn't repeat around anyone he liked. He watched as she banked hard to avoid three fighters, his ears picking up a sound he'd only heard one other time, a grav dampener shorted out and exploded somewhere in the ship. The ship banked and then faltered as tons of force came back into play.
Two Sixteen watched as the frigate lurched, one of it's extended wings catching all three of the fighters it had been trying to avoid. The fighters exploded on impact, pushing shrapnel, exploding fuel and ammunition right through the wing. The two torpedo's that had been loaded in that wing exploded, shattering what was left of the wing's structure and knocking the frigate into a spin. "Wing men fire grapnels and lock onto that frigate, then full burn down and out of this battle!" She ordered as she spun her gunship in and fired her own grapnels, maxing out her gunship's core as she tried to stabilize the larger ship. As the other three gunships put their engines to full burn, she locked hers down onto the Nightingale's docking port.
"Cover their escape NOW!" Roared Hovana as she unlocked her boots and moved up near the main view screens. "Bank us into their dreadnoughts and send them some love."
"New ships incoming!"
"We just got the Thor and it's heavy escort from the Coalition!" Rager still looked grim, watching as friendlies fell with the enemy. He brought up a link with the Thor. "My son is in the Nightingale, Vector craft are pulling it back out of the fight." He watched another coalition ship explode and punched a console. "Hit the enemy flank with everything you have!"
"As you wish General! Bombers lock onto those damned carriers!" Roared Admiral Reyes as he stood aboard the Thor.
Two Sixteen moved through the damaged frigate, Finding two males knocked unconscious in the gunnery stations. "AI! These two will live..."
"So...much....feedback....the...pain." Groaned out Eve as she had trouble tracking anything, most of her droids just falling over where they stood. "Must get....to...Centara Prime"
"Merge warp fields as soon as we're well out of weapons range, Centara Prime is our destination." Two Sixteen moved up to the cockpit and found the door unresponsive, it's systems shorted out. "AI, I will be forcing a door open." She warned as she curled up her large fists, landing blow after blow until the hinges failed. Her large form quickly moving to check over the Captain and pilot, finding the Pilot slowly coming back to consciousness and holding her head. "Stay still....you have a few broken ribs."
"I know...." Selic turned and grunted as she saw Two Sixteen. "Vector?"
"Yes...now be quiet so I can check over your Captain...." She trailed off as she watched the ship be hauled into warp by her wing men. She moved for the Captain and paused as she saw he was so young compared to most she'd seen piloting non Vector craft. A clicking sound turning her attention to the large rivet gun now pointed at her head.
"Careful...." Said the large droid as it moved to the Captain's side. "I'm reading a severe concussion, two cracked ribs, and....internal bleeding." the droid's attention moved back to Two sixteen. "He needs surgery....again..."
"Two Sixteen to wing men, Max Warp NOW! We have an injured Ca'zeze heir aboard." She looked at the Droid and then the injured Lo'Kar. "You may call me Lu."
"Selic"
"Rex, and he is Tinker."
"Commander....that energy signature is coming closer now."
"All forces pull back out of their fleet, whatever the hell that is....it's putting out more energy than this station." Hovana said as she checked over the station's damage. "Put two more warp cores to the shields."
"They made it away, Tinker will be safe." Rager sighed in relief, checking on the size of the wormhole that had been growing over Ne'Ki. "It's almost large enough...if that thing comes through...they will flee."
"Carriers are firing full spreads again!"
"Fire anti-torpedo missiles! Torpedo bays lock and load full spread, I want everything we got left ready to launch on my command." Hovana moved back to sit in her command chair finally, bringing up her control displays. "Husband....have the Thor load the same way."
"Thor Pull back from their flank, incoming unknown with red hot signature. Load for Titanium Rain maneuver!" Rager ordered as he checked over the remaining ships." The Federation still had roughly three quarters of it's fleet, though many were limping out of the battle as best they could. The defense forces hadn't fared much better, even with the reinforcements they still only had forty ships and the station. The station itself had suffered some damage, mainly to it's forward edges from ramming other ships.
"Blast anything that tries to stop one of our ships from exiting." Hovana ordered as the station's anti-missile and anti-torpedo systems went into overdrive. "Thank the goddess that we had plenty of those damned things just laying around." She said softly to herself. "Bring us out and away." She ordered as the Federation ships started to pull back as well, both fleets leaving wrecked or disabled ships behind for now.
"Pull all able ships back from their line and wait for the Apollo." Ordered Admiral Kerg as he walked around the bridge, checking over various screens. "How long?"
"Five Minutes Admiral....this thing is slow, that's why we had to use the gate to get here. You had us pull this from dock before all the warp cores were installed." Grumbled the Apollo's commander.
"I had no other choice commander, as you can clearly see my fleet isn't sufficient to subdue the station." Admiral Kerg said in a forced calm as he walked along the bridge of his command carrier. "They are moving into a new formation, and that damned wormhole is almost large enough for the blasted Vector assault ship to come through!" He yelled out, before sighing and wiping his face.
"I have my orders Admiral, if they pose too much of a threat to this ship...it leaves." The Apollo commander said with an annoyed tone in her voice. "This as you well know was only sanctioned to test the effectiveness of the ship's weapons systems in combat."
"I know your orders Commander...Kerg out." He killed the channel and turned to his tactical officers. "All able ships are to move into assault formation Echo, half burns for now." He barked out, listening to the chatter as he watched the view screens.
"Commander...they have switched to an assault formation."
"Echo..." Rager said calmly as he watched the enemy ships move around to form a swirling mass of ships. "Forming that rotating mass of ships makes it hard for enemy ships to get solid hits with heavy weapons. It's what they used against the fleet at Over Three, took out over half the Coalition fleet stationed there."
"There is a four kilometer gap in the middle, even with those carriers." The tactical officer went to running through scans and data as fast as she could, shaking her head as she brought up a telescope view from the mining fields. Her screens flashed up to the main monitor, causing everyone on the bridge to simultaneously stop and stare.
Hovana moved to the screen and looked at it in disbelief, the thing was larger than the Neki and had an opening for a main weapon larger than her station's. "What..."
"What the hell is that thing, it's got more weapons ports than two of their assault dreadnoughts" Rager moved up beside Hovana, punching a few things into a console and feeding the data to the rest of the defense forces.
"It has more weapon ports than this damned station does!" Hovana shoved a tactical officer from their chair and sat down, her hands furiously working at the keys as she tried to calculate the main weapon's power. "This isn't good, at lowest....that's a planet cracker."
"They don't have the tech to make a ship that size with that much power..."
A comm signal broke through the firewalls of the bridge. "Apparently the Federation has gotten it's hands on the tech to use matter anti-matter power cores, it is the only possible way that ship could have that much power." The voice was almost metallic sounding. "It is the best course to break formation now and form small groups, otherwise that cannon will destroy multiple ships."
Rager smashed a console with his fist and turned to the tactical displays. "Command to fleet, break formation for safety. The Ne'Ki will use it's main cannon against the cracker, in t-minus two minutes fire every damned missile and torpedo you have...and make them count."
"Get me that Vector pilot back on the comm!" Hovana barked as she stood back up. "Full power to shields, and I mean every damned power core we have that isn't needed to fire a weapon or run life support!" She turned and locked eyes with her husband and smiled wickedly. "Start firing the main cannon, target those damned carriers until that thing gets in range, then fire until the weapon melts!"
"Aye mam, locking targets and firing."
Novak ran through the halls as fast as his monstrous form could go, smaller Ca'zeze either moved or were slammed down by his hands. He nodded to the men guarding the heavy wooden doors at the end of the hall and was thankful they opened them. "Exarch!" He roared as he skidded into the spartan office. "The Federation is attacking the Ne'Ki, exodus ships said it was the largest show of force anyone's seen from the Federation so far!" He watched the aging Exarch rise from his chair and felt like the other male's blue eye was boring into his soul. "Viker never got a chance to issue orders, three fifths of the ships there warped to aid the station." He huffed. "Sir, the 1st and 3rd assault fleets have already left orbit, along with the Varren war packs, I've ordered all of my subordinates to prep the battalions...." He trailed off as the Exarch's eye went back to his console. "Sir..."
"Order our best surgical teams to get rooms ready, and clear the courtyard for an assisted landing...my grandson is hurt and being brought straight here."
"What about the fleets sir..."
The Exarch stood up from his desk and slammed his clawed hands down into the wood as his eye focused on the younger commander. "Send them ALL!" he roared out as his claws dug up wood from the desk. "But get those surgeons ready and clear the damned courtyard, I don't care if you use your damned walker to blast and kick things out of the way, just CLEAR IT!" He roared out, his mind clearing for a moment as he did so.
"Feel better?" Novak asked as he looked at the Exarch, punching in the orders on his bracer's computer. "I've sent everything we can for now, defense fleets are mobilizing right now. I've dispatched orders to destroy the Federation's fleet at Ne'Ki before moving to guard the border gates." He paused for a moment as the Exarch pulled his claws from the desk. "And security has already been dispatched to clear the courtyard...with walkers." He sat down in the normal chair he used in the Exarch's office as the older male composed himself again. "Some of the reports I've gotten from Viker say that the Vectors have even stepped in to help defend the station." He stopped as he thought of something. "And I know you get Intel sent here...but how did you know that Jack was injured? I didn't get that bit of intel."
Exarch and High Admiral Ezak focused his ice blue eye on his most trusted subordinate as his hand worked the console. "I've been getting fed high priority Intel for the last five minutes, and the Nightingale will be here within thirty minutes." He held up a hand as Novak's mouth opened to speak. "The ship had a malfunction and was disabled and is now being towed here by four Vector gunships at full speed."
Novak slapped the comm on his bracer and huffed. "Field commander Novak to security team, level the damn courtyard now. Weapons free, you have ten minutes to make that a landing pad for a frigate and four gunships." He was already on his feet and near the door when he heard the Exarch call for him. "I was going to go help Sir."
Ezak just pointed back to the chair. "One gun can change a battle, but not in our case. Sit down, I have something you need to see." He worked his console to bring up a 3d image over his desk. "This scares me more than the thought of losing both my heirs." He said as he looked at the image of the Cracker he'd been sent by the Vectors. "Now this is something that stumps even the Vectors." He pulled a drive from his console and tossed it into Novak's lap. "You're in charge of readying the battalions Field General Novak, you've just become my right hand." He forced Novak to stay seated, even as the male tried to stand. "If you try to stand again I'll break your shoulder, this isn't a nice promotion. I need you to get the siege walker frames brought out from storage and refit, then pick one for yourself. You will be training and leading the entire branch...for ship based combat."
"You're making me the Field General of a battalion of Space Marines?" Novak managed to say, though he felt like his throat had just gotten ripped out. He shuddered as he looked at the cold blue eye of his Exarch "What kind of load outs am I going to be allowed to outfit the walkers with?" He asked as he calmed down, his brain starting to focus on his new task.
Ezak smiled wryly at him as his claws tapped at his wounded desk. "Nonstandard equipment, use the good weapons on them. Jump packs, just nothing mounted on them that leaves residual radiation." He sighed as he looked off for a moment. "We no longer have anything that will properly carry those units anymore. We're going to have to manufacture a new ship to carry those things around." He let go of Novak's shoulder and scratched at the back of his own ear. "How many of those things do we have left?"
"We still have almost four hundred frames in storage, most will need complete rebuilds. Not to mention we need to put in all new of basically everything, add in at least six months of training and testing time..." Novak paused for a moment as he read over to old tech readouts for the frames. "Sir, these things haven't been used in over eighty years. Not to mention that they are all between thirty and fifty meters tall." He said the last in almost disbelief. "What the hell is going to be able to haul those things?" He asked as he looked at Ezak, his own mind blank on what would work.
"For that my young General...we'll have to check out the boneyard." His grin was almost evil now. "The one we share with the Lo'Kar that's been scavenged from for the last hundred or so years." He checked the timer he still had running on his terminal and sighed heavily, before sitting back down. "I've got a quick message to type up and send off to the Lo'Kar Queen and the Coalition council, The Federation won't just stop at trying to take that system. Once they fail or win there...they will push outward." His eye locked onto Novak. "Put in calls to all of the major manufacturers, you have one year to complete assembly and prep of the Siege walkers. Take your pick out of any unit in the army for your battalion, then get to work."
"Commander it's power output has doubled in the last minute, it's preparing to fire it's main weapon!"
"Full power to forward shields!" Hovana looked over at her targeting officers. "Start trying to fire down that thing's throat!"
Rager pinpointed targets on the tactical screen in front of him as his hand triggered his comm. "Lock onto designated targets and fire full spreads, then fire at will until your launcher's dry!" His command boomed out across the defense fleet.
Everyone aboard the bridge paused for a moment as the first flight of missiles and torpedo's jetted out from the defense forces, ships becoming more and more clouded by exhaust gases from thousands of ports tried to fill the void with fog. A glint of light from the planet cracker causing everyone to stare, except for Hovana who was punching in a code on her console.
"Admiral Kerg, we've reached weapons range. Preparing to fire upon enemy battle station in sixty seconds."
"What the hell are you doing! We need that thing as intact as we can get it!" Kerg raged as he heard the transmission.
"We're going to...wing it I think." The Commanding officer shrugged on the video link, then smiled evilly. "I was also given orders to test the weapons systems on this platform as best that I can, which means taking a chunk off of that damned station." He heard warning sirens blare across the bridge and looked up to see the void hazing launch from the opposing fleet. "Shields to full power, launch countermeasures!" He'd never seen such a brutal launch in his career.
The fighter and bomber squadrons that had been forming to attack were almost completely annihilated as the storm of torpedo's and missiles filled the void with shrapnel and explosions. Distress beacons filled the CIC's maps as pilots and crews were forced to eject and evacuate their ships as the storm tore through their shields and gutted them. Countermeasures did little to stop the storm, only filling the space with more and more chaff as the storm washed over ships small and large at the front of the fleet.
"They're emptying their ships..." Admiral Kerg said in near disbelief as the forward screens grew bright, watching as the Apollo fired.
Hovana punched in a command. "Everyone Brace!" Her voice boomed over the station's comm system as everyone suddenly felt 3g's. The relic of a battle station lurched as it's course changed suddenly, plasma thrusters firing to shove it spin-ward and into a hard rotation.
People were thrown about in the ship, some slammed into ceilings and others down halls, cannons and tubes never stopping their fire as the enemy's new ship fired at the station. It was too little to late as the beam of light and plasma carved it's way into the battle station, severing off most of one of it's four points and damaging even more from heat and secondary explosions. The battle station loosing it's rotation as power systems overloaded.
"All hands abandon the station!" Hovana called out, splitting blood onto the deck as she stayed seated. She looked around and the command crew stayed seated, her husband pulling himself up from the decking. "Leave you idiots!" She'd snarl and was ignored as her husband took over the pilot's position.
"External comms are down...and if you're staying so are we!" Rager snarled at her, switching over to manual controls and sighing. "I want one of those carriers!"
Admiral Kerg watched in sheer awe as the station was carved like a turkey. "Losses are too heavy for us to attempt to fight off the Vector ship...Fleet move to evacuate the system." He listened to his order being relayed through the channels.
"Sir!" One of his tactical officers was pointing to a display showing the Neki ejecting pods and what few transports it had. "They are under way again...full burn for us!"
"EVADE!" He hadn't realized the fleet rotation had brought them so close to the front lines. "Full power to engines!"
The Apollo was already turning and pulling away from the rest of the fleet, the warp systems powering up and hurling the super dreadnought away from the battle. The tear in space time finally opening large enough to allow the Vector's ship to push from the nebula and into the system. The edges of the ships bladed hull glowing bright as power surged through it's systems. Beams of condensed light fired out from it and pushed through shields and hull alike on Federation ships that were still firing as they tried to get out of the way of the Neki.
The station shuddered heavily as shields failed across it's surface, weapons refusing to fire at all as it plowed through wreckage and damaged ships alike. Rager cursed as the command carrier managed to warp away, the support carrier wasn't so lucky.
The crew was jarred as the station slammed into the carrier, armored hulls buckling as mass won the battle. Shields growing bright across the carrier before the Neki's nose slammed through it's hull to tear it into wreckage and scrap.
