"A Test of Strength"
It was cold outside, far too cold for a saurian from another dimension to be
journeying through the city. Siege tugged his overcoat tighter over his body and shivered. He didn't like the cold, and with it being the brink of winter and the fog of his breath billowing around his face like a cloud, he knew that it would be a long night if he didn't get to where he needed to go in a hurry. Siege glanced over his shoulder, his green eyes darting back and forth; glinting off the street lights as he made another turn down Snakeline Avenue and began to jog in the direction of the distant looming building, he was already digging into the pocket of his jacket as he approached the door, he clicked the back of the tag at the end of the key and the door responded with a beep, a keyhole popping out from its hidden location near the center.
"You better be good on your word." He said with a starch growl to his voice as he spoke to himself. "Rule number one about being a bad guy, never trust anyone. It's my only fatal flaw." He inserted the key and turned it, with more electronic beeping the keyhole was surrounded with a green light and Siege gripped the door, lifting it effortlessly upward to allow himself in. He turned as he entered, glanced around once more and then with one hand, dragged it back down with a loud bang.
It was much warmer in the building, the soft whirring noise of the furnace going brought the Saurian a little more comfort as he released his titan grip on it to wear it more loosely as he made his way into the building.
"Are you here, human?" Siege rumbled. "I got your pay if you got my goods!"
"Quiet, would you?"
The voice was just above a whisper as Siege turned around a pile of crates to see a woman lingering over a microscope, tapping an electrode to something under the scope. She had wild white hair that stuck almost completely straight up, a white lab coat contrasted only by a pair of pink colored studs in her ears. She was wearing a pair of goggles with tinted lenses and a teal strap on her head. After a few more taps against the metal, drawing out brighter sparks of gold and green, she spun around. "FINISHED!" She announced with such enthusiasm that it made Siege jump in surprise.
"Are you crazy? You could give a guy a heart attack!" Siege exclaimed, putting a hand on his chest.
The woman paused, as if considering his comment before raising two fingers up a pinch apart before swapping to another hand and tossing a small card at him. Siege caught the card and turned it over in his hand. It was still warm from her tinkering and he stared back at her in confusion. "So, this thing is gonna make me an opponent to fight."
"Sure will. A powerful warrior who would obey your every command. Just as you ordered. All you do is press the red button on it and he will appear."
"Good. I have been wanting a challenge, and this is gonna be the perfect test dummy to take out my frustrations on." Siege replied, examining the chip briefly before reaching into his coat pocket and tossing it to the woman, who immediately thumbed it over.
"This isn't the price we agreed on." She stated coldly.
Siege sighed and shrugged. "It was all I could get ahold of, you should consider yourself lucky I was able to get that much."
"No, no. You don't understand. If I don't get the amount we agreed upon, I am going to have to take that back--" She froze, the cold barrel of a pulse pistol now staring her in the face between herself and Siege.
"Sorry, I'm gonna have to insist you take what you got, or I'm gonna have to shoot a hole through that pretty face of yours and take it back."
The woman was stone for a moment, making Siege unsure whether or not she was seriously considering his threat. She slowly pulled her goggles off, revealing her sharp blue eyes and she visibly looked him up and down. "You have a way of making yourself a deal, don't you, Mr. Siege. I am curious what lies beneath that hat and that coat. I will concede to your demands, but do not try to contact me again. This ends our...understanding." She said with the cruelest sneer she could muster before she turned and exited the room. As the bitter chill in the night air struck her face again, she chuckled to herself; she had not mentioned how many times he needed to press the red button before activating the card, and she would be interested in finding out exactly what this 'mighty warrior' would do to him once he discovered that too.
Siege turned the chip over in his finger, it truly was no bigger than a credit card. It was about the size of an old floppy disk, but according to her, the amount of data stored within could outdo ten super computers. He spotted the red button on the back and tapped it; the light flickered for a moment before coming on fully and he placed it down. Something should be happening soon; just as he thought this, strings of lights shot across the dark surface of the card before it suddenly lofted itself a few inches into the air and began to slowly rotate. "What the--" Siege wondered to himself as the disk began to spin faster and faster until there was no visible disk, it looked more like a sphere, and electricity was beginning to shoot from it. There was a massive flash of light that threw Siege back and the entire room flooded with a golden light as it subsided, Siege rubbed his eyes, trying to clear the glittering strobes of light from his vision as he observed exactly what came out of that card.
He was massive and covered in an orange skin, definitely a relation to his kind, but more humanoid in appearance from the neck down. Siege's jaw fell open slightly as he glanced over the muscled saurian before him, seated on the edge of the counter he'd placed the card on to activate. Aside from a strange metallic mask and a flimsy looking leather loincloth, he had nothing covering him. Momentarily, the creature sat idle, his eyes closed and his head drooped over, then suddenly a pair of golden eyes opened and he looked up at Siege. He looked around warily and then back at the other being.
"Where... am I?" He asked in a deep, growling voice.
"You're in the presence of the mighty Siege!" Siege announced himself with a bellow of pride. "And I've summoned you to do battle with me, to test my strength against a worthy opponent."
"But... I am not your enemy." He explained. "My name is Wargreymon."
"What kinda pansy doesn't want to fight me? Especially if War is in your very name."
"Sometimes a name is just a name." Wargreymon responded.
Siege growled as he removed the hat from atop his head, revealing his reptilian-like head and immediately he dropped the coat. "Be that as it may, I'm ordering you to fight me. You're my creation! I am not going to be bested by you!" He threw a mighty punch at Wargreymon, but was immediately halted as Wargreymon caught the fist in his hand with ease. And with further ease, Wargreymon flung Siege across the room with a flick of his arm.
"I don't want to hurt you, Siege. But I will defend myself."
Siege, who was recovering from his collision with a nearby wall quickly got back to his feet and with another cry, he lunged at Wargreymon.
This time Wargreymon deflected, Siege followed up with a right hook, connecting with Wargreymon's face and spinning him around. Wargreymon looked pissed, but it didn't seem like he still wanted to fight. "You coward! Why don't you put up more of a fight? I feel like I've been ripped off here."
"And I... feel... something else." Wargreymon said...
