#2 of Myth stories.

A retelling of the Norse myth story from the Prose Edda "The Binding of Fenrir". I originally wrote this for a writing competition at my college but it was too long so I had to shorten it to make it a bit better. I didn't win sadly but I still like this. The competition forced me to cut down on exposition and lose unnecessary parts. Or maybe it needs to be reworked even further. I'll leave you to be the judge! Please enjoy!

A massive Grey Wolf lay on the soft cold snow devouring the doe it had caught, it's maw covered in blood and the bones lay scattered and broken in front of him. He growled with hungry fervor as he gnawed at one of the leftover bones. His teeth wore it down before eventually he broke it, shattering it into pieces like so many of the others. He licked his lips and then his paws before hearing the crunch of snow behind him. He turned around and growled in anger as he saw a man come out from the dense forests, chains in hand. The wolf's snarl changed to a crooked smile as he had now seen one of his favorite Aesir. Or at the very least... the one he hated less than the others.

"Tyr." The wolf said with a very faint smile creeping its way across his muzzle. Tyr gave a small smile and walked ever closer to the wolf.

"Greetings Fenrir," he said calmly, the chains in his hands jingling slightly. Fenrir noticed them and chuckled. The chains were a wonderful golden color, made from the finest Asgardian metals and seething with raw magic.

"I see you bring chains to greet me... An Aesir tradition I don't know about?" Tyr shook his head and kneeled beside the wolf whose red eyes peered into the Gods soul. His Pure, Divine, Golden and Perfect soul.

"Not quite. Just me wanting to play a game of sorts. You often boast you are a very strong. Why don't we prove that," he said opening the cuffs. Fenrir laughed.

"A game... Ha ha ha! You fools must truly be bored up in those palaces. Alright Aesir. I'll play this game of yours." He walked forward, the snow falling off his underbelly and he patiently stood in front of the God. Fenrir was a hulking creature of raw strength and power. Every step he made melted the snow beneath his feet and even burned the grass underneath leaving nothing but a black smoldering hole. His pelt was black as ash even looked like it was smoking. Despite this however his teeth were the whitest you would ever see. Clear and pristine, and sharper than the finest spear. Tyr wrapped the numerous chains all around the wolf's body and cuffed his ankles till he was completely bound by the chains. Tyr smiled and so did Fenrir.

"This is lighter than the clouds of the sky. I feel like if I sneeze on these things they'll fall apart. If this is the best you have..." He said as he stood tall and stretched his massive body, the chains popping and breaking into thousands of tiny little pieces. What once were nigh unbreakable chains now lay a shattered mess in the snow.

"... You Aesir are weaker than I thought," he said chuckling and turning away. Tyr simply watched, shocked of course but less about how easily Fenrir broke the chains and more on how he would explain such a thing to Odin. "Such a thing is not a testament of my strength. I would say I expected better... But that would be a lie." Fenrir laid down in front of the does bones and began to bite at it once more. Tyr said nothing and turned his back to the wolf, walking away quietly.

*****

"Impossible!"

"I saw it with my own eyes, Thor. He merely stretched as if waking up from a nap and the chains snapped into pieces!"

"Maybe the chains were faulty," Sif suggested.

"That can't be. Tyr is one of the best smiths in Asgard and I enchanted the chains myself with my highest level of magic. It was so flawlessly crafted that Odin himself couldn't get out of it." Freya replied. Small crackles of lightning could be seen jumping to and fro in Thor's beard.

"Why do we not simply kill the beast? Makes matters less troublesome and we have one less spawn child of Loki's to deal with." Tyr frowned at Thor. He didn't like the idea of killing the wolf, regardless of what anyone said. Surely there was another way to do this.

"And bear the wrath of Angrboda? Not a smart plan," Ullr replied.

"And Loki still cares for his children. Don't want to make things even worse than they already are between us by killing one of his kids." Freya added. Ever since they threw Hel into the underworld, Loki had been unnaturally quiet. Scarily quiet even. No games, no laughter, no tricks or tom foolery he always got into. Just furious silence. Odin simply sat on his throne, eye closed and gently rubbing his fingers against the tip of Gungnir, his trusted and powerful spear.

"What if we were to bind him again? Stronger chains? Greater magic?" Heimdall offered.

"It doesn't hurt to try I suppose. But who's magic is stronger than Freya's?" Sif asked.

"There are nine vast worlds my dear," Thor said slamming his hammer to the ground. "Surely someone has something we can use."

"With all due respect... I don't think this is a good idea." All the Gods looked at Tyr in disbelief.

"What?"

"I don't think it's right to judge Fenrir based on a weird prophecy we received from the crones of Yggdrasil."

"Tyr!" Heimdall shouted.

"I'm sorry but I do not believe this is fair to Fenrir. We can't punish him based on actions he hasn't done or may never do."

"The Norns have never been wrong Tyr!"

"I feel like you're not taking this seriously Tyr."

"How dare you side with Fenrir! Our enemy!" God after God rushed into defense, spouting out what they believed to be the best facts possible to justify their actions but Tyr said nothing and simply let them vent their frustration. He remembered the look on their faces when Odin first told them the news of Ragnarok, the end of everything and everyone they held dear. Their greatest enemies would all come to see them slaughtered like cattle and Fenrir would devour Odin whole. The world consumed by flame and ash... It was truly a terrifying thing to hear. And true the Norns were never wrong but Tyr was never such a hasty being. He was one of the few that did not cry when Odin told this news, the other being perfect Baldur. But still. He raised these very same points when Hel was cast out to handle the dead, a position to keep her out of the way Ragnarok and out of their hair but it was not an act of kindness, Oh no. The Aesir did nothing out of kindness anymore. Fear conquered their hearts. Odin opened his eye and it glowed a bright blue. All the Gods hushed and listened to his words.

"Do not fight amongst yourselves my children. At times like this we must stay together. Fenrir must be bound. He cannot be let to roam free. Whatever solution we come to, we must take caution for Fenrir cannot know of his fate. We must make sure he is enchained and out of the way... Lest we all pay the price."

*****

Fenrir growled as he saw another wolf walking through the snow shrouded woods, His eyes held nothing but hunger in them as he jumped out and tackled the wolf, snapping its neck between his jaws before tearing its body apart, devouring it almost as soon as he killed it. He ate at the corpse without haste and before he knew it, the meal was gone. Only the bones remained. Then he ate those too. Fenrir licked his lips and heard his stomach growl again. In fact it may have gotten louder.

He turned around and saw Tyr once more and chuckled before two more Gods, Thor and Freya, appeared behind them. Upon seeing those two, He felt his very blood boil.

"What is this?" He asked baring his teeth. "Tyr I am fine with but bringing the whore of the Gods and the Aesir's pet is where I draw the line." A faint hint of amusement could be heard from his voice. Freya reached for her sword before Tyr stopped her.

"Greetings Fenrir. I've come to see you again for yet another test of strength. Greater than the last." This led the grey wolf to laugh. It was a laugh that made Thor and Freya both shiver. A laugh that could shake the earth. Not one you would ever want to hear.

"More chains? Surely you toy with me Aesir! I thought I won this game already." He turned to walk away, his tail brushing against Thor who grabbed it in a fury, stopping the wolf in his tracks

"This is no game, wolf." Fenrir snapped his tail out of the Gods grasp and looked over his shoulder. Every hair on his body stood on end for a bit before setting back down, an exhale of smoke pouring from his maw.

"Oh? I thought it was. After all Tyr told me this was a game of sorts last time to see how strong I was." Thor froze in place. He may have ruined this for the Gods all because he couldn't keep his mouth shut and let Tyr talk.

"Hmm. I'll never understand you Aesir," he said grimly, noticing the chains that were wrapped around Tyr's arms. "Let's get this over with." Fenrir stood in front of Tyr but didn't even look him in the eyes. Tyr nodded and with the aid of Thor and Freya, he wrapped the wolf once more in the strong chains, making sure that he was so wrapped up he could barely stand. They stood away and admired their work.

"May I break these chains now?" He asked sarcastically. Thor smiled.

"Good luck." Just then Fenrir shook his body like a wet Dog would and the chains once more shattered into pieces, flying all over the place and hitting the gods at a rather fast speed. Freya and Thor were shocked at how easily he had broken the chains while Tyr simply looked at them, slightly smug but with a heavy heart. They had failed once more. Odin wasn't going to like this...

"Are we finished?" Tyr nodded and began to walk away while Thor groaned and followed. Freya merely scowled at the wolf but when he looked back at her, it was with a look of indescribable hatred and it made her... It made her want to stab her sword down his throat. Fenrir smiled his devious smile, a smile that reminded her of his father Loki. A God she had no good things to say about.

"You don't like me, do you Goddess?" She didn't respond. "Is it my smile?" He asked, his tail wagging behind him. "Is it the way I talk?" Freya grabbed her sword and looked about ready to cut his head off. He crept closer to her.

"I can see the fear in your eyes, woman. I don't know why but surely there is a reason as to you and your kin wanting to bind me. It's not just some silly game. Is it Aesir?" Freya backed away from the wolf and quickly walked towards Tyr and Thor, long gone from where the Wolf was.

*****

"Tyr wasn't lying! Broke the chains like it was nothing!" Thor said, astounded.

"This cannot be true! Those chains were-" Ullr began.

"Impervious. Indestructible. Unbreakable." Sif cut off.

"But not to Fenrir," Frigg said gently stroking Odin's thigh.

"He's already starting to gain the wit of his father," Freya said grimly. All the Gods attention was now on the Queen of the Valkyries.

"I don't know for sure but... Fenrir is getting wise. He knows we are up to something.

"Fenrir... Is a problem." Odin finally spoke. And as usual everyone listened.

"It seemed that chains made by the best of the Aesir is not enough. We need more. We need... A dwarf." Odin spoke with the age and maturity of a man who lived a thousands years. With the calmness of the first drop of snow. And all the Aesir understood. They didn't question it and Odin rose from his throne.

"Tyr. Thor. Come with me. We haven't much time."

*****

There are no better smiths in all the nine worlds than the dwarves. A powerful and greedy race who constantly make amazing structures and hold countless hordes of gold right in plain sight. Odin, Thor and Tyr found their way to an underground cave with several dwarves working in it, the walls lined with beautiful and shimmering gold. They didn't even bother looking at the Gods who brazenly walked into the mine as they were so fixated on gathering the precious metals in front of them.

"We require a smith!" Thor shouted banging his hammer against the floor, causing the entire mine the shake.

"If you need a Smith, I'm your man!" Said a bald dwarf behind him. His black gloves were covered in soot and his muscles bulged with power. He looked as if he could shattered a boulder into dust with one hand. "The name's Ghardr. What can I help you with?"

"We need something strong to bind a wolf. A powerful wolf," Tyr said. Ghardr laughed and turned his back to the Gods.

"Pathetic! Childs play! Surely you three can come up with binds yourself."

"We did," Thor said. "And he broke both of them." Ghardr stopped and looked back at them.

"Who is this wolf? Can't be an ordinary one of he can break chains made by Gods," he said in disbelief.

"He is the mighty wolf Fenrir," Odin said quietly but not as quiet as all the dwarves in the mine stopped their work and looked at the Gods with just as much disbelief as Ghardr.

"Did you say... You wanted to bind... Fenrir?" He asked slowly.

"Yes."

"The Monster of the Van river?"

"Yes."

"Child of the trickster God Loki?"

"Yes. That Fenrir."

"This..." He chuckles. All the fear and hatred that had infected him moments before had disappeared and was replaced with intrigue.

"... Perhaps I can help with this. But it will take time. Give me until midday and I will have something that will truly keep Fenrir held in place." Ghardr walked to his workstation while the three Aesir waited patiently.

*****

Hours had passed leading to it being later than Ghardr had said. He had just wondered out, a hearty laugh bursting from him a look of absolute pride taking over him.

"Here we are!" The dwarf exclaimed as he walked out of his little home with something hidden in his hands.

"What took you so long?!" Thor bellowed.

"Ya can't rush perfection, Asgardian. This here will ensure the Grey Wolf is of no more trouble." The dwarf held up his hands in pride and what occupied them were not chains like intended... But a ribbon.

"A ribbon?!" Thor exclaimed in anger. "A damn ribbon?! We aren't looking for something pretty to match a Goddesses' dress! We are looking for powerful binds to hold down a crazy wolf!" He shouted slamming his hammer against the floor again, a large earthquake shaking the mine again.

"Hold It! This isn't just any ribbon!" Thor was livid but decided to hear the dwarf out.

"I call it Gleipnir. This ribbon is specifically made out of all the impossible things I could think of. The sound of a cat's footsteps, the beard of a woman, the roots of mountains, the breath of a fish, and the spittle of a bird. None of these things exist and therefore are impossible to struggle against. The Wolf will never be able to escape." Tyr took the ribbon and looked at the setting sun outside the entrance of the cave.

"It is late. This will have to do. We must leave, father." Thor said. Odin nodded and shook hands with the dwarf.

"I thank you Ghardr. Should this work, I will owe you a great favor." And with that the Gods left.

Fenrir had grown even bigger than before. Now the size of a full grown Oak tree, Fenrir was stalking a brown bear. Miles bigger than it, Fenrir lunged at the creature and faster than it knew it was under attack, it was already eaten whole. Completely scarfed down the beasts mouth with nothing left behind. Not even the bones... And yet his stomach still growled at him, begging for more to fill it. But he had eaten so many creatures in the last few hours so he found a small cave to rest and cleaned himself. The Gods showed up and were shocked to see the wolf so big. His tail alone was the height of Odin, the tallest of all of them! The Gods had shown up just as Fenrir was cleaning between his legs, earning a groan of disgust from Freya.

"If you had stayed home like a good wench, you wouldn't have been burdened with the sight of such a magnificent creature. Show some respect Aesir," he growled. Freya pulled out her sword and would have stabbed the 'magnificent creature' but was stopped by Odin. Fenrir turned around and smiled his same crooked smile, one that had no real joy but an all too real chaotic element to it. He looked down upon Odin who kept his stern and wise old face. So damn full of himself.

"If it isn't the great and powerful Odin. The Allfather. Master of Gods and Men. Come to see me." Odin gave a small smirk.

"Indeed. Even the greatest of Mutts deserve to be graced with the presence of a God." Fenrir's smile instantly disappeared and his red eyes glowed with festering fury.

"What do you want?"

"We have a test-"

"Oh course." Fenrir shouted. "I should have known! It's a test of my strength is it not? A game to see how strong I am? That same damn game that you had your little lap dogs convince me to play last time! Come with some... Some powerful set of chains stronger than the last correct?! I'll never be able to break out of them?!" The rabid wolf spit with every word but Odin didn't move in the slightest. He called Tyr forward and the armor clad God held in his hands the ribbon Ghardr had given them. Fenrir's eyes widened, looking like two Suns on the verge of exploding. He looked at Tyr and Odin in disbelief... And began to laugh. He laughed so loud that the dead in Helheim could hear him.

"This is a fucking joke! Hahahahaha!" Thunder clouds rumbled across the skies showing Thor's anger and Freya glared at the wolf, her eyes a steel blue. Fenrir looked at them all.

"This is surely a joke Odin. A man as foolish as yourself isn't dumb enough to come to someone like me-Someone who has shattered the strongest chains in creation as easy as piss- with a ribbon!"

"If you don't think you're strong enough then we can go elsewhere," Freya said softly. Fenrir turned his gaze towards her and she felt the heat and chill of it. Fenrir was a wretched and twisted mix of so many things that were both incredibly familiar and scarily unfamiliar at the same time. They were all familiar with the antics of his father but not all sons take after their parents. Sometimes they morph into their own monstrosities.

"On the contrary, Valkyrie, I believe I am too strong for such a contraption." Fenrir turned his back to them and purposely whacked Thor with his tail. Tyr had to hold him back from mouthing off, Discreetly reminding him why they were here.

"Leave. I have no reason to speak with you nor take interest in your pitiful games."

"Then I'll be happy to tell all in the nine realms that Fenrir is a bigger coward than his Father," Freya said. Fenrir growled.

"And that he's too weak to break out of a measly ribbon," Thor said. Fenrir's ears laid back on his head and he bared his fangs.

"Fenrir is pathetic," Odin said plainly. Fenrir's tail curled around him. Freya and Thor's words did hurt but it was Odin's that truly got to him. You do not call someone like Fenrir pathetic. He turned around in a hurry and barked at the Gods.

"Why?! Why do you all want me to try so anxiously?! What will it prove?!" The Gods didn't speak. They could say nothing.

"It seems my guess that you wanted me out of the way of something was correct." Freya's eyes widened and Odin glanced back at her.

"I swear I didn't say anything."

"Then how did he-"

"Don't get too mad at her Allfather. My Father is the God of Mischief after all. You should expect me to have at least some of his intelligence." He gave that same cocky as hell grin he always did. "You all wish to have me out of the picture cause you know... You can't kill me." Fenrir's breath smelled of smoke and ash, rotten and decaying meat, no doubt from many animals he had scarfed down whole, decomposing deep within his belly. "Or better yet you're afraid of what will happen if you do. Oh I'm sure Mother and Father won't like that." Fenrir's tail wagged behind him.

"This is the last test. We simply wish to see how strong a beast like you is and can be." Fenrir chuckled to himself.

"Fine. If this is truly to test my strength... I require a test of good faith myself."

"Now hang on! That's not what we came here for," Thor said.

"I don't care! Either agree or leave my cave!" Thor opened his mouth to speak once more but Odin silenced him.

"Hush my son... What is the test?"

"If you want me to lay and be bound by such useless ribbons, and this is NOT A TRICK... One of you must place your hand in my mouth." All the Gods flinched and backed away while Fenrir stepped closer to them.

"If it is not a trick, your hand will be fine and you'd have nothing to worry. If it is a trick-" Odin didn't let him finish. They all got the gist of it. But now it was time to determine who would do such a thing. They couldn't come to a consensus. Thor said he needed to wield Mjölnir, Odin certainly wasn't going to and no one would let him even if he did want to, And Freya flat out refused. Tyr offered but they all knew that he didn't want to do this from the beginning. It wouldn't be fair to him. But as the conversation went on, it became the only answer.

"Tyr... You don't have to do this." Thor said.

"There are other ways. Other people! Maybe... Uh..." Freya tried hard to think of a God who would give their hand willingly to such a fearsome creature like Fenrir. Frigg? No. Odin wouldn't let her. Idunn? She too heavily feared the Wolf. Bragi? No. He would whine up a storm if he couldn't do his precious poetry. Loki? He wouldn't even speak to the Aesir after they imprisoned Hel. Plus why the hell would he let his own kid bite his hand off? Why would he help them in any capacity? Baldur? NO. No. Not Baldur.

"This is the best option for all of us. I am a fighter. I can survive without a hand. I will work around it. I am of the Aesir. As long as we can wield a blade, we will fight to the end. Right?" While he meant every word he said, there was an underlying feel of disdain. Subtle contempt for this situation. They nodded and Freya hugged her comrade. Thor patted his back and Odin met his left hand with Tyr's. Their brother was to make a noble sacrifice for the Aesir. And it will never be forgotten.

"We accept your test Fenrir." The wolf smiled, his yellows and jagged teeth showing and terrifying the Gods... But not Tyr.

"And who will be the lucky soul to place their hand in my mouth?" Tyr stepped forward. Fenrir looked surprised.

"You? Well... If that is what you wish." He actually sounded unwilling to do this now. His ears lay flat on his head and his tail wrapped around his leg. But he went along with it regardless. He opened his mouth and Tyr placed his hand between his teeth and Fenrir closed his mouth, just enough to firmly hold Tyr's hand in place. The God looked back at his fellow Aesir and smiled. It was a smile of forgiveness and acceptance. He looked at Fenrir, right in the eyes and the two said nothing. Tyr closed his eyes and made the brazen decision of using his free hand to pet the wolf on the head, earning a groan-not of anger but of appreciation-from Fenrir. Perhaps if things were different, they wouldn't be in this situation. If only Tyr had tried to help. If only Tyr had better protected Fenrir. He fed this wolf when he was a puppy. He knew the wolf better than any. But... He had to trust Odin. What he sees is truth. This is how it has to be... And he hated it. With that he held the ribbons against the Wolf's leg and it magically and tightly wrapped around it.

Then it grew and spread.

The ribbon magically grew longer and longer, wrapping around all of the wolfs body as tightly as it possibly could, earning a few painful whines from Fenrir. They even wrapped around his muzzle and the rest of his body, completely binding him in a golden and red ribbon. He shook and twisted, shifted and squirmed to break out of the ribbon, but it didn't work! The more he shook, the tighter they grew and till he couldn't move at all. His eyes-which were filled with hope before now had nothing but malice and indignation in them. And all of it was directed at the God who was foolish enough to hold his hand in the wolf's mouth. In an act of absolute seething and rabid vexation, Fenrir devoured Tyr's hand, cutting it clean off. His mouth filled with the blood of a God and his body the anger of a Giant, Fenrir once more strained against the ribbon that bound him while Tyr screamed in pain at his missing hand. He fell to his knees and Freya pulled him away from the bound wolf who banged himself against the floor and wall, hopping around since his legs were bound together. She wrapped bandages around his forearm - have to be prepared for everything these days - and Fenrir looked at the Gods, snarling and growling, blood and foam dripping from his mouth.

"I trusted you! I let you get close to me! I actually cared for you! I thought you cared for me! Of all the Gods I cared for you the most and you spit in my face with this?! This is how you treat me Tyr?! HOW DARE YOU!!!" The ribbon grew and tightened even more making Fenrir howl in pain.

"This is what trusting an Asgardian gets me?! This is what I get for actually trusting a God?! What good is the promise of your kind?! You all lie! You are ALL cowards! Liars!! Deceivers!!! You put my Father to shame!!" He looked at Odin and his eyes glowed their red color.

"And you... The pathetic Allfather of the Aesir! Too cowardly to give his own hand! You are weak! Pathetic! You are nothing! Less than nothing!" Fenrir spat out every insult he could think of in the native Norse tongue, each one fouler than the last. The ribbons tightened their hold on him.

"Agh!! This... This is not over. This is not the end. Not by a long shot Aesir! You will pay for this! I will make you regret what you have done! To me and my family! Do you hear me! Especially you old man!" Fenrir's claws dug at the ground leaving streaks of fire. His body began to morph and grow even bigger in size. He spawned crooked and burning horns on his head and now had large and vibrant cracks of lightning riddle his body, almost as if he were breaking apart. His claws and teeth grew longer and more jagged and sharp. His claws were now black like the rest of him, his teeth were the color of blood and what looked to be fire burned in his mouth. He still looked like a wolf but now he looked like he was part dragon as well! This made him look even more horrific to the Gods who simply stared in awe and even back away in horror. Fenrir howled and the clouds outside gathered as the Sun itself began to grow pale and hid behind the distant mountains. The ribbons glowed and constricted tighter around him once more.

"ODIN! YOU WILL SUFFER FOR THIS!! I PROMISE YOU THAT!!!!" Thunder formed and lightning even shot from the sky. Thor was shocked at how this wolf controlled so much of the outside world.

"I WILL FIND YOU OLD MAN! I WILL FIND YOU AND I WILL KILL YOU! YOU WILL SUFFER THE DEATH OF ALL COWARDS! YOU WILL DIE!! THIS I SWEAR ON YGGDRASIL ITSELF!!" Fenrir looked at Odin directly and the King of the Aesir felt his heart race. The wolf now no longer even spoke words. He simply grunted yelled and screamed in absolute rage before the ribbon wrapped around his muzzle and clamped it shut. Odin grabbed a sword off Tyr's side and looked down at the bound wolf. And for the first time in years the wolf felt fear. He looked frightened. Odin lifted the blade high in the air and stabbed it down through the muzzle and into the ground. Speaking an incantation known only to him and hexing the sword so it would forever remain in this very spot. Fenrir cried in pain and writhed in agony, trying his best to pull away but if anything that just made it even more painful as the sword didn't move and inch. All of the Gods ran out of the cave while Fenrir continued to yell and scream as best he could with a sword through his mouth. When the Aesir left the cave, Thor had pushed a huge boulder in front of it and with that Fenrir was dealt with. They had done it. They had imprisoned the unstoppable beast. All was well... Yet none of them were relieved. On the contrary. They were even more tense.

"We have done the impossible..." Freya began.

"The wolf Fenrir has been bound... But why do I not feel any better?" Thor asked.

"Because in trying to change fate... It seems I have brought it even closer to fruition." Odin frowned and lowered his head. Not only was this a terrible mistake, but Tyr suffered most out of anyone, losing a hand, losing a friend and breaking an oath. Speaking of Tyr he was now at the edge of a cliff not far from the cave and looked at the waves crashing into the rocky shore. He absent mindedly ran his hand over his stub and groaned. Freya walked behind him and put her hand on his shoulder but he moved away.

"Tyr-"

"You have nothing to say that I want to hear." He looked at his missing hand and sighed. Thor turned Tyr towards him.

"Come now Tyr. We needn't fight each other. We've done what we've set out to do."

"Did we really? Odin himself said that was a disaster, I'm minus a hand and honor for breaking an oath of good faith, and I've lost a friend. One more dear to me than any of you. No matter how upsetting Fenrir looked, he never hurt ANY of us! And probably wouldn't have if we didn't try and bind him!"

"Tyr calm down."

"No! I knew from the beginning that we should not have done this but none of you wanted to listen. You all chose to listen to the ridiculous tellings of a foolish old man!" Tyr looked at Odin with disgust in his eyes while Odin simply sighed.

"This is all your fault. You made me do this. And now because of your need to meddle with something that didn't require your damn attention you have sealed your own fate! And all of us will suffer as well, Allfather!" He said the last word with disdain. Almost as if he spat on the word. Tyr grabbed at his stub again, the pain aching harder than before and walked away from his fellow Aesir, leaving them at the edge of the snowy cliff. Freya and Thor looked at each other before following Tyr while Odin remained. He looked out at the crashing waves and closed his eye. A tear was shed for Fenrir, who was judged and deemed a threat before he did anything, another for himself, who now had to bear with the grim reality of his demise by the hands of the creature he should have left alone, and lastly one more for his brother Tyr. A God who cared more than any for the Great Wolf. Who protested against his binding and wanted nothing to do with such a thing but was forced to by Odin. Odin sighed, his breath visible in the cold winter air and looked to the sky. Nothing but black smoke, The light behind it non existent.
