#1 of Assassinating a sorcerer

A bull mercenary has come down on his luck, no more jobs to fulfill on the bounty board... Would they succeed? Or would they befall a fate worse than death?

All sorts of kinks on each chapter

There are two kinds of people in this world, the weak, and the strong, the former's purpose is to merely exist to prove that the latter is what he is... Unless the weak uses every opportunity to grow strong and step on his other weak brethren, then he too may be strong... But that strength, can easily be stripped away...

A bull had stepped forth in the inn and took a seat on the counter, a bounty hunter who had been completing bounty boards left and right, which completely left other adventurers in awe. With crossbow and dagger strapped onto him, he exhibited a powerful aura around him, intimidating any nearby patrons around him. He had a pretty muscular build on him, killing bandits, witches, monsters, getting into rough tussles, and heavy weight lifting, although he had the appearance of what could typically be a rich bastard who move at a snail's pace, looks can be deceiving thanks to his thick skin and bones.

"Gregor? Done already?" The inn owner, Duncan, a tiger, had taken notice of him and started filling a mug of ale, having grown familiar with the bull in the past and passing by his inn and staying numerous times before.

"Yes, no more requests on the board..." The bull muttered, taking a swig of the alcoholic drink.

"Don't know what this means but there's a stranger referring to themselves as a 'friend' of yours, I'd keep my eye on him if I were you, seems to have answers for you he says" The inn owner said, gesturing to a hooded figure on the table at the corner of the inn.

The bull nodded, taking a seat in front of the hooded patron, a canine judging by the muzzle sticking out of the hood.

"I believe we have a mutual enemy..." The male fox spoke to him, sliding a detailed drawing of an elephant, larger than your average elephant, scar above his left eye, cocky grin plastered on his tusked face.

"Hmm... Seems to be him... Richer and fatter than before, but it's him... How do I know you're not working for him though? Leading me into a trap or something?" The bull asked skeptically at the fox, looking at him suspiciously.

The fox kept silent, taking the hood of the robe off, like all foxes, he exhibited a display of beauty, foxes always had that quality no matter what gender they had.

"My reasons are personal, you do know why this guy is valuable for his capture right?" The fox continued.

"... Yes, former bandit leader, ex paladin, wanted for interference with the law on multiple occasions, multiple accounts of theft... Care to explain how he became wealthy all of a sudden?" Gregor asked the feminine fox.

"I don't know... But it can't be anything legal from his past actions, I don't care even if he did change, he needs to pay which is why I need your help." The fox explained.

"Explain yourself then, why should I help you?" Gregor asked the fox.

"Fine, no use keeping anything a secret from you if we're going to take him down. My name is Leopold, I'm sort of a skilled bard if you will, used to be a member of an adventuring party... Until that oaf wiped out our leader, the party made a decision to choose one of us as the next leader, but it wasn't the same, nobody could match the same leadership skills our old leader had, and the party disbanded soon after, which is why I want nothing more than that fool to rot in the grave, or prison, which one I don't care." Leopold told Gregor.

Gregor felt like he could trust him more now that he told him more about himself.

"So what's this grand scheme of yours oh wise fox? Gonna flaunt yourself to the lusty gaze of the poor fool? Maybe make them dance to death with your lute?" Gregor asked insultingly at Leopold.

The fox snarled inwardly, but kept his calm.

"Shut it bull, If you must know, tomorrow he is going to host a party in his mansion, probably to soften the hearts of aristocrats and nobles, gain their trust, must have changed his name too. We will blend in, hide until midnight, and then capture him and then catch him by surprise, make him think about all he's done to the people around him, its your call if you want to imprison him or downright kill him. He needs to pay and this is our chance" The fox told him calmly.

Gregor's interest got piqued.

"A party huh... Now that's something he can't escape from. But you do know that he might recognize me right? He escaped from me many times before, what makes you think I would pull this off?" Gregor asked the fox.

"We you mean, I may be a bard but I picked up some tricks just before we disbanded, and just before disbanding from my team I learned from my friends to open doors with lockpicks, wield a dagger, know some illusion magic, I'm not as useless as you make me out to be" Leopold retorted.

"... Still though, how do we blend in when I might as well announce to everyone, hey, remember me? I was the one who ratted you out as a disguised bandit once, or that time I almost slit your throat, or that time I tried to ambush you but got away thanks to your thugs" Gregor was about to continue on until the fox threw a bunch of clothes at him, shaking it off his face, he saw it was noble clothes worn typically by the rich folk.

"What? You think I didn't come prepared?" Asked Leopold smugly.

"I don't think a change of clothes will fully conceal my identity friend" Gregor told him, crossing his arms.

"That's why we're going in with these..." Leopold replied, holding two masks.

It was going to be a mask party.
