Aloura Book one: A Royals Beginning

Chapter one

“In Times of war and peril. warriors are as common as fish."

(Demistus – Dragon of war)

“Darkness always sees the light as a cancerous disease to be cut out… But light sees Darkness as cancer... I am rather amused"

(Anonymous)

Many Cycles ago… Deep in the Endlemoer mountains of Ageistashia

Morning had arrived to the mountain range of Endlemoer. Home of the Bird kingdom. A peaceful land of natural beauty and peace.

Well it was.

“Ambush!"

“WINGS UP!"

The dragon army in perfect union lifted each of their wings. littering the battlefield with an array of colourful scale and armour. It was an impressive display and in other circumstances may have been admired.

This was not the time however.

In the split second it took for this manoeuvre to be performed. A volley of heavy javelins screamed through the air from high in the mountain. Making terrible haste towards the Draconic lesion. The sounds could be heard from across the valley.

'Steady!'

The Dragons locked talons forming a vast chain through the ranks bringing each soldier closer and in turn strengthening the formation.

And just in time.

The javelins hit their mark pounding into the wing formation and exploding dark energy on impact causing many Dragons to be slammed off their feet and onto their backs. The dragons still standing tried desperately to cover for their fallen counterparts by grabbing the next Dragon in line.

For some it wasn't enough.

Sickening thuds followed by piercing screams of both male and female throats ripped through the ranks. Luckily dragons scale is strong and their regenerative power allows them to survive much more than any creature in the world.

But It doesn't mean it won't kill them.

“Ognore the mountainous" Hero of Ageistashia and king of Drakunia scanned his troops. Quickly assessing and calculating the casualties the ambush barrage caused. He came to a grim and inevitable conclusion.

He is going to lose Endlemoer to the Dark Forces

The Dragon army he had brought to defend the Ancestral home of the birds would not be enough to save what little land was left in the kingdom. All other strongholds were captured and Eldner's wings who knows what become of the survivors. The birds Capital and Elmdon fortress were all that remained. He had stationed 300 dragons to defend the capital and 50 for Elmdon as well as what birds the capital had left behind during the evacuation to defend the capital along with the dragon army. That was a week ago.

None had Returned.

The fortress had been hit the day before last.

No signal of the attack was heard not even a cry in the night. The attack was silent and swift. Killing all by day break yesterday. A scout had found the remains of the 50 dragons and birds scattered and half devoured by what he explained was “a sea of Rymnocks and Grauls". They can only assume the capital shared the same fate.

The remaining 150 dragons were the king's personal guards. The most elite and well-trained dragons of the kingdom. But even the Dragon guards' numbers were reduced to a mere 70 over night as the dragon armies camp. Which is positioned in the valley below the fortress was attacked early this morning giving the army no time to respond to the Hordes vast numbers and vicious tactics.

The army now sits like pigs to the slaughter.

It was inconceivable. Dragons are the mightiest and most powerful creatures of the known world. Their souls are entwined with the magic of nature herself. To have so many perish in battle was a truly devastating thought.

They have to retreat out of range of the invading forces immediately or they will perish right here right now.

The King looked around.

They were surrounded from all sides by giant pines and steep mountain range. Making traveling on the ground difficult for the likes of a dragon army. What's worse is that the dark forces during their taking of the mountain fortress had procured the fortresses ballistae and were now firing upon the retreating dragon army. Poisonous clouds off dark magic had surrounded the battlefield from above overnight. Rendering air combat and manoeuvring impossible. The dragons would surely die before they could make it out of the poisonous fumes that emit from it. They could push forward and try and take back the mountain from which his army had fled only the day before. But that was suicide the Dark horde would feast on their bones by the end of the day for sure.

It was hopeless.

Loud twangs echoed across the battlefield as another volley was flung towards the defenders from somewhere on the mountain. This time the Dragons were ready and deflected the Projectiles with ease. Dragon wings have the ability to deflect attacks of both magical and physical properties; making them the most resistant armour of all the land.

Suddenly a war horn sounded in the distance. Signalling the charge of the dark Forces attack armada.

“We need to fight back!" someone down the ranks called out.

“With what and where I for one can't see anything" cried another.

“Ognore! What are we going to do!" yelled Durien (due – ree – an) second in command of the Drakunia main legion and Ognore's younger brother. The talented fire dragon was a deep red with an orange chest plate which ran under his belly and to his tail tip. Two backwards sitting horns of a black pigmentation. His claws and spear tail tip were also black.

Red yes observed the world.

He was also desperately trying to find a way to pull away from the ambush but had run out of luck. Simply put they were stuck with no clear way out. His brother merely looked at him. And at this moment Durien locked eyes and knew the truth.

The king. Warrior and hero of Drakunia. Their only hope and inspiration… did not know what to do.

Durien looked away. No longer able to hold his gaze and look into the hopeless despair that the king's eyes contained. He was not the only one who noticed the kings frozen and depressed state. Many in the ranks had seen this and fear was beginning to waft along the lines.

Tears filled Ognore's eyes as realisation of his upcoming doom dawned on him. Clenching his claws and holding it to his chest he conjured a small gem from seemingly thin air. Staring intensely, he was able to see an image. A live image of any he thought upon. Doing this; a small child came into view. A dragon child laying by his mothers' side.

His son.

“Good bye my dear boy I will look over you always." Funny but the boy seemed to stir in his sleep; wincing deeply before shifting back into his mother's side. The mother also stirred and looked right back at Ognore and for a brief moment he felt that deep down she knew he was watching her.

Mindanitia (Mine – da – neesh – a)

His mate and love for all eternity.

I will miss you most of all my love. He thought bringing the vision to a close and dissipating the stone. No need to keep looking upon them. All it will bring is more pain.

While this was happening, the Dark army's attack armada was now rolling down to the defending party and could be heard by all. Panic had now set in amongst the ranks as they watched their leader freeze on the spot clenching the stone.

“Run!" Cried much of the legion as the first Rymnocks appeared on the field.

Rymnocks. These bipedal creatures are the foot soldiers of the Dark Forces and are a threat to all who get cornered by their bloodthirsty Hord like tactics. Easy to kill as they hold no armour nor weapon. But killing one will alert a thousand to you and make no mistake no lone and injured creature can escape their razor-sharp mouths and long cutthroat nails. Covered in soft slimy hairless white flesh, dark spines, glowing red eyes and a draconic like snout. They are a horrible way for any warrior to meet their doom.

The sight of these horrible creatures set panic and terror amongst much of the rank and many were starting to scatter. Desperately trying to find a way out of the forest and away from what they knew was coming.

The first Rymnock was heading straight for Ognore. Wasting no time in figuring out who to attack or waiting for its fellow pack mates; it leapt with a guttural screech towards the king claws out and jaws open.

It never reached the king however.

A large red spear like tail ripped clean through the creature. Catching the beast by its side and coming straight through the other side. The Rymnock died instantly; unable to withstand such trauma. Durien burned what was left of the creature with his fire breath; completely melting the monster in an instant.

Durien looked at his older brother with a burning determination. Eyes nearly glowing red and a snarl painted on his snout. 'I have had enough of this. Ognore is not going to just freeze up on me in battle' he thought looking at his brothers sagged and depressed snout. I am not dying on this damn field today and when we pull through this, I will make sure he knows how stupid he was being.

And with that final thought. In front of all who were watching he walked over and punched the king.

Very very hard.

So hard in fact a tooth came flying from the colossal king's maw and landed on the grass beside them.

Hitting Ognore straight on was a task in itself besides the fact he was king. He was a mountain of muscle and grey scale. An ore dragon of furious power and stood taller than any dragon in the kingdom. Durien was barely half his size. Quite thin, but well-muscled in his own right.

But even with all that muscle he silently shook his hand as pain radiated from his paw.

Shock and silence wafted on the battlefield despite the earlier panic. No one could quite believe what just happened much less the king himself. He stared at Durien in shock.

“Listen Ognore I am not going to sit here and die today because you and your shitty cry baby excuse of a brain just froze in the middle of battle. People are dying and you sit here looking at that damn stone. Now either you man up and act like a king or I'm going to hit you again do I make myself clear?"

Ognore Made it very clear that he understood. Even though he was bleeding profusely from his mouth. The giant dragon had puffed up to twice his normal size with sheer fury. He was smoking so hard out of his nostrils that much of the soldiers watching took a few steps back to avoid a coughing fit. He was furious. Completely and utterly furious. And was ready to take immediate revenge. But then he realised.

He was right. They could make it. All they had to do was punch through the enemy lines to the top of the mountain fortress that stood in front of them. It may be suicide but it was their best and only option.

Ognore turned and looked at Durien who was still shaking his paw silently. The paw was obviously broken but Durien took no heed and looked straight back at him expecting nothing but rage and contempt.

But Durien balked in shock as Ognore smiled and all the previous anger that he held in his silver eyed gaze melted away.

Leaving nothing but grateful determination behind.

Ognore turned towards the Mountain from which the rest of the Rymnocks had just started to come out of the dark mist. Obviously spread out due to the large trees.

A smile crossed his maw.

Good

With a heavy slam of his ball ended tail and front paws and a mighty roar of furious power erupting from deep within his throat. He let loose a wave of molten metal.

All Ore element dragons have an ability similar to this breath but it takes a true master to be able to do what happened next.

All the ore formed long spear like pieces of solid red-hot steel flying towards the first Rymnocks emerging from the mountainside. The creatures had no regard for their own life and as such many were instantly skewed and melted by the barrage of metal projectiles. Dying gurgles, blood splatter and sizzling meat vibrated through the battlefield.

“DRAGONS FORM A PHEONIX FORMATION ON ME. HEALING DRAGONS I WANT ALL INJURIES TO BE PATCHED NOW. NO MORE DEFENDING A LOST CAUSE WE ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!"

No matter the dragon. All who panicked before now stood proud and brave. The king was right if they were going to honour their fallen. They will push on and survive this fight.

Durien looked around as the dragons once again formed an impressive display of might. 'We may live after all' he thought smiling. “OW" Suddenly a tail whacked him on the back of the head. Grunting in pain he looked up with an angry hiss. Ognore was smiling back at him. “That's for breaking my tooth." He said smiling broadly as Durien huffed his frustration. “You deserved it." He explained rubbing his head briefly before placing his paw back on the ground. Already healed due to the Healing dragon who tended to it.

Healing Dragons are the medics and healers of the kingdom while no special healing powers they do use a mix of rare magical crystals called Ferdmeira in ancient draconic or more commonly known as Spirit crystals. These crystals are obtained in the deep mountains and caves of Ageistashia and when used correctly can heal a dragon (And only dragons) in seconds. Whether the wound is severe or not. Only dragons can be healed by the Ferdmeira. This is why many believe the magic crystals are a gift from the ancients to aid dragons in battle.

Ognore was placing another volley of lava in the direction of the first one this time no spears formed. Only fire and lava. Many of the other dragons joined in. What followed was a barrage of fire and many other elements lighting everything in its path and causing the destruction of half the battlefield. He then turned back as the next rank of dragons unleashed their furious payloads. “I Did. But How am I going to explain it to Mindanitia?"

“Weeell." A lone Rymnock had broken through the second barrage; Durien turned away from Ognore and torched its soft body with his own fire breath. “Don't you always say she has a thing for battle scars?" Ognore grabbed a boulder and hurled the 2-tonne stone. Crushing the Death hound that was bounding towards him. These Dark magic quadrupeds the size of a young dragon's hunt and kill in small packs. They are The Dark armies Border guards and always the first to make enemy contact in battle. Can fall to all elements but particularly hate water.

“Oh; your right she was always digging the scars she is sure to love this one." The Rymnocks were still coming through the fog and trees only to be immediately destroyed by various elemental powers that the Dragons had waiting for them.

Durien shot a flame ball which exploded a nearby tree. The tree then fell in front of the beasts. Cutting them off many were sucked in by the power of the flame and instantly combusted. “Well as much as I like to idle chatter about your lack of sex life since you had your son Algenore. I think we should get out of here. What's the plan?"

Ognore looked at the mountain ahead. No longer afraid but all the masterful once more.

“We are going to retake the mountain fortress. Once we are at the top, I have an idea about how we are going to get out of this mess with all our remaining dragons in arms alive."

Durien had known. It had it been their only option since the ambush started. But It was still a daunting feeling.

Mount Elmdon Fortress was a truly huge labyrinth of black marble and stone. A Fortress as old as the bird kingdom itself and is now swarming with the Dark Dragons evil minions.

He sighed heavily.

It was going to be a long day.

“Alright.' He said looking once again into Ognore calm gaze. “But what's the plan once were at the top."

“That's the fun part. I'm not telling you yet it's a surprise!" He exclaimed grabbing his little brothers' shoulder and shaking him fiercely.

Durien looked down at his claws instantly wishing he could melt his brother right there right now. “Of course, not" He sighed as his brother and king turned to face the troops.

“MY FELLOW DRAGONS! WE ARE BORN WITH POWERS OF THE ANCIENT! BORN FOR WAR AND ENDLESS MIGHT!" all the dragons now were looking at their leader with a new light even those who had not yet recovered from the surprise barrage. All stood in aww as their leader once again showed why he was their king and hero.

“WE HAVE FENDED OF THEIR PETTY AMBUSH! SO, I SAY LET US GET SOME PAYBACK NONE SHALL STAND IN OUR WAY; WE WILL STOMP OUR CLAWS INTO THEIR PATHETIC RANKS AND RAIN DEADLY DESTRUCTION ON ALL WHO STAND IN OUR WAY TO FREEDOM!"

The roar of his thundering voice echoed throughout the valley. But it paled in comparison to the 500 voices of the dragons rallying in enthusiastic bloodlust for revenge. All wanted to get a piece of the action and would not stop until they were home.

Ognore turned towards the mountain and took the first step. The first step of glory, of freedom and seeing his family once more.

All the dragons were now rallying and the king was more than happy to give them the words to start their true battle.

“FOR GLORY!" Every dragon repeated this high on the thrill of battle. “FOR GLORY!!!" They cried.

“FOR HOME!!!"

“FOR DRAKUNIA!!!"

And with the might of Dimistus guiding them they charged. Towards their glory, to their home.

To their Drakunia.

“Aloura."

“Aloura?"

“ALOURA!"

“I'm up I'm up!" Aloura yelped as she jumped up from the Floor. Instantly regretting it as she immediately slipped, Sparks obstructing her vision when she smashed her snout on the stone floor. “Ouch! What the hell Tamatsu" She said rubbing her snout in fervent anger. As she rubbed the pain away. She scanned her surroundings. She was in the Castles Royal Library. A huge room that takes up much of the third floor of the castle. It was a room of glorious and eye pleasing artistry, amazing architectural marvels and books on every piece of history from the kingdom and beyond. Coloured statues of the finest makings lined the walls depicting dragons of past deeds and accomplishment including every king and queen that ever ruled Drakunia. Royal tapestry lined between each statue as well as a free-standing Brazier lighting the whole room in a comfortable atmospheric light. The room just like the castle was made of heavy stone and lined with obsidian and marble panels. Making some rooms white and some black. The Library was both; lined with gold to add to its decor. Huge bookshelves lined in rows throughout the room were the star attraction of the castle's visitors. For which many dark rose wood table and chairs were scattered conveniently throughout the room. Aloura was laying belly down on what was the reading area for any visiting dragons of the library. As dragons were unable to seat themselves in any conventional chair. So, to counter this inconvenience. The library's western side contained many padded and cushioned areas where dragons could sit or lie comfortably and read their texts in peace. As well as high up cave like nooks for dragons who need a more private area. Aloura was sitting in one of the said cushioned areas having just been awakened. Unfortunately for her as she got up, she slipped on the pillow she had her head on and found cold hard stone as her cushion instead.

All this would be fine if she was alone. But of course, the fates are never so kind.

Laughter erupted from beside her. Zenr Alouras sister was lying beside her and saw everything. She then proceeded to break the library's most prominent law of silence and was now clutching her sides as she rolled around on the floor laughing maniacally.

Zenr and Aloura hatched on the same day mere minutes apart But Aloura had broken the shell first. Making her the older sister by mere minutes.

Even though they were born the same day and from the same nest they were entirely different.

Zenr is an emerald green dragoness with a custard yellow underbelly. Her eyes are hazelnut brown, like her sister she was quite slim, toned and muscled for her age giving her a strong female figure. she has two forward horns, her spear like tip is a cream colour like her claws and horns. She was born a strong water dragon and can breathe impressive displays of water tricks and attacks.

Besides their physical aspects Aloura was completely different not just to her but the entire dragon world.

She was completely white.

She is porcelain white with blue eyes. All her training has given her an impressive build that is slim and toned she has two pearl like backwards horns and two small horns protruding through her lower jaw. A long tail with a star shaped ending. Her wings, claws and tail are also a shimmering Pearl.

No one had ever seen a dragon like her before. Many consider her a gift from the gods and a profit of such.

On the other hand, some believe she was a freak and a curse. Aloura never listened to any of the taunts or jibes some of the dragons her age throw at her. They were few and far between.

'I must have fallen asleep' Aloura thought as she looked around again to make sure Zenr was the only one who was going to be hounding her for the rest of the day for her fall. Thankfully the rest of the library was empty.

Almost.

“Aloura. Are you ok? Do you need aid"

Aloura groaned and looked the reason behind her misfortune.

Tamatsu was crouched in front of her. Concern filled eyes scanning for injury. Tamatsu Hinda was a resident lizard of Drakunia. A 7ft tall warrior of peerless might. He was Alouras teacher, bodyguard and a royal guard. Royal guards are the most elite and disciplined of all warriors. Only the best of the best could be selected to personally protect the royal family and he was such a warrior. Though despite being a feared warrior of the four kingdoms he is always kind and chivalrous to all who deserve his respect. Aloura befriended him the day she met him. He stands taller and broader than any of his kind; always wearing full armour. His red scales are considered a warning of his arrival on the battlefield and his fiery eyes are believed to flash red when he is infuriated. His tail has a bone scythe that can cut down even metal; his head is crowned by bony fins that line his back from his neck to his tail end progressively getting smaller from the top down.

“No…Tamatsu I'm fine." She groaned sitting back up straight and scratching the back of her neck chuckling softly. “I just dozed off is all."

“No kidding you nearly put yourself back to sleep for good that time!" Zenr Exclaimed still barely containing her laughter. “You should have seen your face! It was soo good the way you face planted! Oh my Ancestors!" Aloura rolled her eyes as Zenr once again was dying on the floor. The Dragoness unable to contain her laughter was flailing about in gleeful spasm.

“Zenr please now is not the place or time. I am only half way through the ambush of Elmdon fortress. the final blow that wiped the bird kingdom from existence this is a very serious subject."

Zenr sat back up still slightly giggling. “I bet Aloura didn't make it through the first stage of the battle."

“Aloura… is this true?"

Aloura winced. She didn't make it through first part she nodded off after he started mentioning an ambush of some sought. She honestly tried to stay awake but failed. “I got to the part about an ambush then all is blurry. Sorry."

Tamatsu sighed standing back up and facing both girls at the same time. “You both need to take this more seriously. As princesses of Drakunia you are obliged to know all major history landmarks as well as a vast knowledge of Stately affairs. Both of you will one day rule Drakunia together. This means the fate of the land will rest in your hands."

Both Aloura and Zenr dipped their snouts. The thought that one day the fate of the people will rest in their paws was something they never considered and was quite frankly a terrifying aspect.

Tamatsu smiled showing his white fangs and placed each hand on the side of the depressed girls' snouts. Lifting his hand; he softly brought their eyes to meet his. “Hey cheer up I'm not worried. You girls are the best students I could ask for and it is my honour to serve as your teacher and guardian for centuries to come."

This made them feel slightly better forcing a sweet smile from both Dragonesses and a small giggle from Aloura.

His smile grew. “That's better."

Suddenly the Outside Balcony door to the library opened bringing a wave of warm summer air into the chamber. The two looked past Tamatsu to see another dragon enter the library.

Hydia made her way over to the group with a strong confident graceful stride her armour slightly clinking together as she walked. Hydia was second commander of the Royal guards and takes her position very seriously. Her ever serious nature makes her seem eternally pissed at everything. But Aloura knew better. She has a side most people don't see a side she shows only to those she deems worthy or she likes a lot. She is a stunning fire red with emerald eyes and has a strong feminine figure. she has orange frills that crown her head and sit on her jaw bones. she has two back sitting horns that come from the side of her head and are silver like her claws and her javelin like tail. As a fire dragon; she can heat her claws to melt the hardest steel in one swipe and can melt a shield in a mere cough of fire breath. She wears light royal Armor at all times.

“Tamatsu! Can we talk?"

Tamatsu froze on the spot. Body as rigid as a wooden doll. Tail usually always on the move became straight like a spear. His eyes glazed over and a small gasp left his throat. He had his back facing the approaching Dragoness and she couldn't see the shock that was now apparent on his face.

But the girls saw everything and traded knowing glances at each other before walking around the living lizard statue in front of them and smiled brightly as their eyes locked onto Hydia. “Hydia!" they both blurted out and immediately jumped at the waiting drake wrapping their fore legs around the neck of the Dragoness and pulling her in for a tight hug. Luckily for them Hydia's honed reflexes prevented her from tipping over.

“We missed you!" They said in perfect unison.

Hydia smiled. Unable to resist the charm of the two girls. “You only saw me yesterday. How can you be missing me so soon?"

Aloura pulled away. Still smiling broadly as she looked at Zenr the back to Hydia. “Can't I miss you even if your gone for a minute?"

Hydia was touched by her words, Of course Aloura was always kind and caring to her and everyone else. But it was nice to be appreciated.

“Well I missed you too Aloura."

“Ahem." Hydia looked over to Zenr who had a rather offended look on her snout. “And of course, You too Zenr I missed you both." Zenr face softened as she nodded her approval “Thanks couldn't let Aloura have all the love." She said rubbing her snout affectionately against Hydia's chest.

“Anyways I have come to tell both of you that it is time for your daily training." Hydia said as she looked over at Tamatsu who had now lost all colour in his scales. And had stiffly turned to look at the dragoness. As he did so he gasped and immediately looked at the ground.

Aloura saw this and giggled inwardly as she watched the fearless warrior strip himself from all his tough exterior and become like a timid boy once more.

Tamatsu was petrified but seeing Hydia's puzzled expression he immediately cleared his throat and took on a more professional and commanding posture. “Ah yes of course commander. We had just finished for today." Even with his voice seemingly normal he was blushing extremely hard.

Tamatsu was always acting weird around Hydia. Apparently ever since they were cadets in the same year he had always stuttered and choked up when he saw her. It hadn't been a problem once he had been assigned to Being the Princesses body guard. Until Hydia had insisted she became the girl's teacher and guide for all combat segments of their education. Now he saw her every day and he get more and more nervous every time.

Aloura of course knew why. He had never told her but he always talked of Hydia like she was the greatest creature in all the world. Always mentioned her newest accomplishments or always got defensive if someone mentions her in a bad tone.

He had a huge crush on her and the only way to get him to admit it was if Aloura helped. She for a long time had always left it alone thinking surely, he will make the move.

But to no avail. Now is the time she will make sure he tells her no matter what.

She looked at Zenr who in turn had looked back at her obviously sensing what Aloura was thinking she gave Aloura a wink before turning back to Hydia.

“Hydia oh my ancestors you have to read this book Tamatsu was reading to us it is awesome!"

Hydia blinked in surprise before focusing on the excited dragoness. “Umm what book is it?" she asked once again looking over Zenr who all of a sudden became the most excited book loving Dragoness in the world.

Which was funny because she wasn't much of a reader.

“Oh, it's soo cool ill show you." She said grabbing the book and nearly shoving it into her snout. “See it's a real page turner."

“Oh, ah cool?" Hydia had of course read this book. More than once in fact but it was strange to see Zenr of all people interested in a history book.

'What is she up too? She never was as interested when he was reading it too her.' He pondered. He looked over at Aloura who was smiling so hard he was afraid she would split her face scales. She was flicking her head and moving her eyes.

Moving her eyes between him and Hydia.

'What is she doing. Is her neck sore?' he thought giving her a puzzled expression. Seeing this Aloura huffed in silent frustration. “He is soo dull sometimes." She said under her breath. Aloura tried a new tactic and used her tail first pointing it at him then towards Hydia making sure he knew exactly what she was doing.

It worked.

Tamatsu's eyes grew so large it looked like two plates had replaced his red orbs and was ready to be used for dinner.

'How did she know?' he wondered looking at her suggestive expression and knowing eyes he found the truth. Of course she knew. He was always going on about Hydia and Aloura is no small girl anymore she is well on her way to adulthood. 'Question is what is she doing now and also has she told Hydia?' He suddenly felt short of breath and thumped his chest trying to get his poor heart started again. 'She cannot know his feelings she might hate him if she found out. She always seemed rough and annoyed by him whenever he was near her lately'. He sighed inwardly and looked at Hydia who was politely looking at the book he knew she had read already but didn't want to hurt Zenr's feelings. He has been friends with Hydia for years.

Best friends.

But he didn't want to compromise what he had with her. With these feelings that he knew she would reject. She was a general after all and his commander.

Aloura watched as he struggled internally with his feelings. 'Maybe I shouldn't have tried anything.' She thought and decided to let him go for now.

“We better get moving if we wanna make training, shouldn't we?" Aloura walked over to the library door and grabbed the handle.

Hydia turned and looked at Aloura who was opening the door to the outside balcony. “Yes, we're late as it is." She explained placing the book back on the shelf and proceeding to the door along with Zenr. “You coming Tamatsu?" she said looking him over as he jumped and turned.

“Ah maybe later I have some errands to run first before I can join you guys." He said looking at the floor truth is he had nothing else to do. But he wanted to get away from Hydia until he calmed down.

“Ok see you soon I suppose." She really wanted to talk to him about something important but that can wait till he joined her later. Giving him one more glance she led the way out of the library with the Princesses in tow.

The Door closed and the Library was silent.

Tamatsu sighed with relief and sat on the chair nearby. He then put his hands to his head and dug his claws into his scales slightly pushing down.

'what will I do. Hydia wants to talk to me and I can barely breath when I'm near her.' He thought as he eyed the door from where she led the girls out of. Hydia is so kind and fearless, a warrior, a general and a teacher in one amazing Dragoness and he is merely a Bodyguard! There is no way he deserves her. Is it even ok to have these thoughts? Dragons and lizards are nearly the same genetics. Live just as long but they lack magic of their draconic counterparts. Dragons also walk on all four of their limbs and have wings! Was he wrong to have these feelings of his best friend? He knows of times where dragons and lizards have had great families and relationships but would Hydia agree?

He moaned a frustrated and confused tone of utter despair.

“What will I do?"

Aloura squinted as she entered the outside balcony. The morning sun giving of a particularly bright light on this side of the castle. The white marble balcony had more cushions and a small well-kept orchid garden for anyone to enjoy. It was also where most dragons enter the library being much easier than the stairs to just fly up than walk. In fact, every castle room except the Kitchen, Dining hall and the lower Chambers had a outside dragon entry. Making life easier for all dragons who would rather avoid the long winding stair case.

“We better hurry. Your Father will be wanting to see your progress later on." Hydia Explained walking to the balcony edge and looking back at the two girls who were behind her. “Meet me there in ten minutes so we can begin." And with that she batted her wings and took to the air leaving the girls on the Balcony.

Zenr and Aloura watched her fly away for a while until Zenr turned to Aloura “So did you get him to do it?" she asked eyes full of hope and excitement. Aloura sighed and looked at the ground “No. He looked so awkward. So, I abandoned the mission." Aloura huffed looking at the door behind her and sighing. “He looked so upset and distressed I couldn't bring myself to make him ask her out."

Zenr stepped over too Aloura and bumped her side with her rump. “Come on sis don't worry. Well have them together one day and when we do, he will be thanking you for the nudges you have been giving him all this time.

Aloura looked at Zenr's smiling snout and gleaming eyes. She was always so positive and carefree not caring what anyone had to say about it. “what would I do without you Zenr." she said Nuzzling the side of her snout. “probably be a loner for the rest of your life." she smirked as she returned the nuzzle.

Aloura giggled at Zenr's taunt “Hey I don't see you with any other friends." Aloura teased pushing Zenr back with her forearm.

“I do too."

“Oh yeah name one friend besides me."

Zenr went to retort but suddenly froze her mind drawing a blank. She snorted and looked away.

Aloura smiled “I knew it."

“Well you don't have a friend besides me either so were even." Zenr retorted not wanting to be shown up.

“Actually, I do have a friend." Aloura said looking at her claws and blowing on them tauntingly.

Zenr froze with a puzzled expression. “who?" She asked “I've never seen you around with anybody else but me and…." Her eyes widened and a smile grew on her lips. “Are you sure he's your friend?" she teased looking at Aloura with a narrowed gaze.

Aloura suddenly wasn't so confident anymore “Well he never said he was for certain." She said rubbing the back of her neck and looking away from Zenr who was suddenly way to close for comfort.

“Well even if he is your friend. Are you sure he's just your friend?" She asked eyes curious and a mischievous smile on her snout.

“What's that supposed to mean." Aloura squeaked

Zenr had her now and was not going to let her go in a hurry. She was going to make her remember who was queen of the taunting game in the sibling world.

And she had the perfect way to get even.

“I know you like him more than just friends she said examining her claws and blowing on them mimicking what Aloura did before.

Aloura rolled her eyes at Zenr and in a huff sat down. “Oh, really do tell me oh great one." she huffed a sarcastic tone.

Zenr suddenly looked at Aloura with a confident smile on her lips as she narrowed her eyes once more. “We sleep in the same room you know."

Aloura was confused 'what did that have to do with anything.' She wondered 'Zenr seems to think it does.' She couldn't figure it out so in a more cautious tone she replied “yeah we have slept in the same room every night for years. What's your point?" Zenr almost lost herself then and there. “Well as you know We don't always just go to bed and sleep, do we? Sometimes we can be awake for awhile before sleeping."

Aloura was nervous now as she didn't know where this was going. “Yeah so?"

“And sometimes were awake before each other too."

“Get to the point Zenr!"

Zenr had her now and her killing blow was nigh. She looked Aloura straight in the eyes and said. “I've heard you moaning at night Aloura."

Aloura's eyes nearly popped out of her sockets. She blushed so fiercely that she felt she was melting. Worst of all due to her white scales you could actually see her cheeks go red. She couldn't hide it. “WHAT!" she squeaked so loud the pottery on the balcony cracked and the nearby residents of the city looked up in shock wondering what could possibly have made that noise. “That's right Aloura." Zenr said almost bursting at the seams with laughter now. “I Have heard you more than once moaning his name in the night. I've seen you toss and turn and caress yourself in your sleep. And might I say I am disgusted!" She said Mockingly. Aloura at this stage had gone soo red her face looked like an angry fire dragon. “But I barely even know him. That's crazy. I'm not some Horny dragoness looking for… That!" she was getting louder as she paced around and hid her face with her wings. This was so embarrassing for her 'what if she was telling the truth. What else did I say? Oh god what if others have heard her.' She frantically walked over to Zenr and grabbed her shoulders. Claws digging into her scales. “Hey watch it." Zenr growled pushing Aloura off of her. “Tell me your kidding right now." Aloura Growled right back at her. “You win whatever you think you won. Just tell me your Kidding." she whined.

Zenr looked at her for what seemed like an eternity. She had absolutely no expression on her face whatsoever. All of a sudden. She burst out laughing. She was hysterical this time. Her legs could no longer support her and she was now on the ground completely racked with laughter.

Aloura at first was confused. But then realised what had happened. 'She tricked me. And I fell for it!' she thought once again sitting down with an angry expression painted on her face. “Seriously Zenr." She growled “that's low even for you."

“Hey I'm sorry! I'm good at what I do." She cried still shaking after her laugh. Oh god! She needed that. It's one thing to laugh at Aloura when she does something to herself. It's quite another when she gets to be the one to cause it. “It's not my fault your so gullible."

Aloura was mad at herself that she even thought that what Zenr said was true. But fair enough Zenr got her good.

“Ok fine haha your soo funny. She said rolling her eyes and sitting down.

“Naturally of course. I am the greatest and prettiest dragoness in the kingdom." Zenr said elegantly putting her hand on her chest and lifting her head high in a mock high society pose.

Aloura giggled at her display. “you know who you remind me of?" Aloura inquired getting up and walking past her sister once more.

“Who?"

“Ethirnora."

Zenr gasped in mock outrage. “How dare you compare me to the likes of her. I for one have twice the brilliance and egotistical stamina than she will ever have!"

Aloura chuckled softly. Ethirnora was the wind elder of the kingdom. Well elder is a little harsh as she is only around 300 cycles old much younger than all the other elders. But she has the biggest ego of any dragon in the kingdom. And that's saying something!

“Well Pardon me oh great queen of the dragons." Aloura said bowing down to her sister. “I seem to have missed my place and ended up offending you. Oh, whatever shall I do to make up for such a mistake?"

“You can start by calling me the supreme leader at all times!" Zenr commanded giving her best deep manly voice. Which came out rather squeaky than tough and commanding.

Aloura laughed at her now proudly strutting sister. “Oh yes Supreme leader I am at your command!" she said saluting and standing to attention.

“I want you to let me win every fight when we train today!" She commanded.

Aloura shook her head. “Not going to happen."

“Oh well gave it a shot at least. Can't blame a girl for trying." Zenr stated getting up and punching her smiling sister on the shoulder. “like I'm losing today anyway."

“Well then we better get to Hydia. She will be waiting for us." Aloura turned and went to the edge of the balcony. The day was fresh and the city was alive. Aloura breathed in a fresh breath of air and looked over the castle walls at the wonderful city below her.

The start of a great day.

Aloura turned and looked at her sister. Who was stretching her wings out as she prepared for flight “Hey Zenr?"

“what?"

A Mischievous smile crossed her snout as her tailed snaked around Zenr's front left paw. With a hard pull and twist of her strong tail. She flipped the light dragoness on her side with a loud squeal of surprise. “RACE YOU!" Aloura yelled jumping off the balcony with a flap of her wings and taking to the sky. Leaving her still shocked sister behind.

“Ohh! Its on girl!" Zenr growled pulling herself back up and taking of as well.

“Your mine now!"
