Inside the Nebula

(Story Commission)

It was a calm Monday morning. The cold, fogger air carrying heavy amounts of smoke which composed the landscape of Dunwall was unmistakable. Being the capital of the southern Empire, the city was living its apogee of the Industrial Revolution. They were also the heart of a fast-growing, proud Empire. The chimneys could be seen from far away, and so could their heavy, black coal smoke.

Considered one of the largest cities in the whole Empire, Dunwall was the pinnacle of modern civilization. Canalized rivers, electric trams, subways, and even steam-powered speed air trains. During the day, its imposing industry produced the smoke which could be seen from faraway lands, and during the night, its brand new, rapidly expanding power grid produced the light that put to shame any other city in the world.

On that specific Monday, however, seismographs at the Imperial College and fiver other different research institutes detected all together intense seismic activity coming from the equatorial region of the globe. The machines indicate extreme seismic activity. Despite being highly unusual, this detail in specific wouldn't have done more than grasp the scientific community's excitement. But, as the telegraph substations across the Empire reported a loss of communication with cities and colonies from the north region, concerns begin to raise. It didn't take long for the Empire to detach some of their best ships to investigate.

The imposing fleet set sail from Dunwall port in less than a week after the loss of communications, and during the whole time, the seismographs didn't stop to register new seismic activities coming from the equatorial region. Rumors about the end of the world were beginning to raise, but the Imperial local authorities immediately intervened. As a demonstration of power and control, the Empire high console detached its flagship among the fleet heading to North.

1Ft day logbook entry:

The first day was calm, almost as if it were a vacation. The equatorial winds blowing against the fur made it feel like it was the best job one could have.

-"This is Millo reporting back to ship. Do you read me?"

-"Loud and clear! Please processed!"

-"Well, next time, you should try to pay more attention, Isaac. You beamed me down right in the middle of what it seems the planet's ocean."

-"Oops! Sorry, my bad."

-"Why I'm not so convinced it was an accident?"

-"Ah, well. You spent the last few days complaining about having a break and going on a vacation. Taylor and I thought you would love to explore the tropical of this little planet first."

-"Fine, but now my paw-pads are all wet."

-"Ah, Millo, please. It's not like you are drowning in the "ocean." By my calculations, at your current size, the "ocean" should be no more than a pitiful puddle around your paws. Now please, be good bun bun and set the equipment so we can have all the ground data in the ship's computer for analyses today yet."

Leaving a little huff scape his soft lips, the anthro rabbit got himself back to work. Walking from the middle of the puddle like ocean towards the nearest shoreline. The whole trip only took Millo a couple of steps.

-"We should work on getting ourselves smaller next time. I know this is the current the smaller size the system can handle, but still, I feel like I could turn around the world in a couple of days walking."

Said Millo through the communicator on his skin-tight, purple bodysuit as he made his first step on the shore. His paw landing on the soft sand below and sinking firmly, a nice feel for the anthropomorphic rabbit.

-"I have been working on it, and you know I'm not the only one working on it. Those "nano planets," I think that is how they have been calling it?"

-"Yep! That's right."

Taylor interjected, letting both Isaac and Millo know the Lion boy was in the same cons channel.

-"Oh, you see, I was right. So, these nano-planets are kind of knew, and nobody has been cataloging and exploring them until a few years ago, mostly because we thought they couldn't sustain organic life form. Considering how tiny and puny those "planets" are, the mere fact they can hold enough air and have breathable atmosphere is yet to be explained."

-"I think that article connecting the size and weird gravitational field to the nebula this entire cluster of star systems happen to find themselves is the best guest. But anyway. I just stepped on the shore, and I'll begin by collecting some ground sample."

The bunny simply reached for his wrist bracelet, activating its nano replicators and materializing a palm-sized gun looking-like device. The slim boy simply got on his knees, aiming the tip of the pistol-like device to the ground and pulling the trigger. The device immediately fired a low-density beam of energy, which dematerialized the soil directly underneath, making an area the size of a small coin disappears.

-"Good job, bunny boy, the ship is getting the date, and so far, nothing special. Normal soil and some nano organisms and other microorganisms. Although... hum... the device sent us some random readings, make sure the device is set correctly, Millo."

-"What, are you going to teach me how to use those things now?"

-"Uh! The big brain rabbit got offended. Okay, just make sure to collect more samples then."

Millo would get back to his feet, dusting off some dust and sand out of his knees as he did so before beginning the long, arduous work of scout the immediate surrounding area looking for a spot to establish the camp.

The people of Karnaca were having a normal day. The tropical province was one of the newly annexed provinces and was one of the most promising too. In the last two decades following the annexation, Karnaca experienced both an economic and infrastructure boom brought by the power of steam and the industrial revolution. Although, the province, well known for its always summer weather, allowed itself to adapt and involve its own technology to generate electricity and reduce its dependency on the capital.

Massive wind turbines could be seen upon the shore all throughout the landscape. However, on that Monday morning, the wind blowing right from the deep ocean was stronger than normal. Many of the massive, imposing wind turbines were moving at such a high-speed part of the city electrical gride overloaded, and some of the turbines even went on fire. However, that was only a tiny sample of what was come.

Following the winds, some people reported have seen a strong, blind full light. As if a flash of gigantic lightning had just landed in the middle of the ocean, but the lightning was short-lived. Although what came right next was truly unbelievable. An entire mountain emerged in the middle of the ocean, in the exact same location. Not only the sheer scale of the mountain was overpowering, but their shape was completely out of the ordinary. Its surface was plain and quite solid, even if seen from far away, but the most noticeable detail was its color, dark purple. Nobody had ever seen a mountain covered by such an unusual color.

As if all those details were not enough, all of a sudden, the massive and impressive structure lifted itself high up in the air and propelled itself forward. The giant object putting itself into motion generated an overpowering wind displacement as a consequence. The air displacement was so powerful that even steamships navigating miles away were dragged into the direction of the rising mountain. Reporting coming from the coastal region of Karnaca informed that the seawater from the beaches had just vanished! As if it were simply gone! Sirens could be heard all over the shore as the local authorities prepared the population for the imminent tsunami. But nobody could be prepared for what was yet to come.

That mountain flying midair and moving forward began to cast an imposing shadow over the entire coastal line of Karnaca, turning day to night until, just like it raised itself without any apparent explanation, it began to fall right over the shoreline. There was nothing the citizens living around the shore could do. Not even their most advanced trains could outrun such a sheer, fast-moving object. Telegraph stations were dotting away the information of what was happening as fast as they could in an attempt to report their imminent doom. The more that massive mountain lowered itself, the more visible it became. It became easier and easier to see strange geological formations underneath its base as if the entire base of the lowering, purple mountain was covered by grooves. But the closer it got, even those same grooves proved to be far more extensive and deeper than what they could realize, quickly revealing themselves as large, imposing, and deep canyons.

The immediate area underneath the shadow of the failing mountain was suffering from the effects of air displacement. Houses, buildings, and factors were blown away, saved by only some structures that managed to stand the tornados-like force. The death numbers were incredibly high, and so far, nobody had a slight idea about what was going on. The gap between the ground and the bottom of the mountain was slowly closing in. People located in areas around the edges of the massive mountain witnessed the exact moment the gargantuan, massive object landed.

The entire shoreline was ruined, countless cities and districts were either crushed out of existence or blasted away by the sheer forces of the air displacement. However, some lucky ones made it, only so they could begin to realize whatever it was, that object of mountainous proportions wasn't a natural rock formation. Not only its colors were far off, unlike any other mountain in the world. But its surface was smooth and flat, extending itself for kilometers long. Those who were still alive but happened to find themselves underneath the sheer structure, being lucky enough to stay untouched by fitting exactly between the canyon-like space, found out quickly how much pitiful their current situation was. Debris, the size of steam carts, were raining from the sky above, threatening to crush anyone and anything. The sheer extension of that canyon was so vast that entire districts could fit in there. It would take them weeks to find the way out and see the sunlight one more time. Even though the worse seemed to have passed, they weren't far from being safe as the solid structure, even if not moving it was still rumbling and shaking the surrounding area as if something deep inside the purple mountain was moving.

Away from the shoreline, thousands of citizens stared in awe at what seemed to be incompressible. A giant! In fact, to call that towering, imposing being looming over the whole region a giant was a euphemism. The man was close to what could be considered a living deity. Wearing a strange garment no one had ever seen before, his clothes' purple material seemed to be resilient and comfortable, both at the same time. But given the sheer disparity in size, none of the pathetic micros like people could see more than above his shins due to the fog and clouds forming around his ankles. The local star observatory of Saggunto could barely see above his waistline thanks to their telescopes' precision and power, an advent from the steam-powered industrial revolution brought by Dunwall. The only reason why the poor inhabitants managed to figure the gender of that looming deity who was threatening to bring their city to an end with something as simple as a mere step, just like he did to Karnaca.

However, shattering their predictions, the imposing man begins to move, but instead of lifting his boots to step forward, he was lowering himself towards the ground. Despite the general panic, some of the local authorities had hoped this might be a gesture of benevolence, that the ominous figure looming above them, filling the entire horizon, had noticed their insignificant, pitiful presence. And the more he lowered, the more his body became visible.

With a frightful thump, the titan's left knee impacted on the ground, landing some dozens of kilometers west of Sagunto. Although, even if far from the epicenter, the shockwaves of the earthquake generated could not only be felt by the locals but also invoked havoc throughout the town. Countless homes, buildings, and infrastructure were brought to the ground out of that simple move. For those who were still alive, they would find out very quickly what fate had reserved for them, and their insignificant town would make what happened to Karnaca feel like a much more benevolent fate. But moments before the end, those at the observatory were allowed to get a glance at the face of the colossus. He wasn't even human. Having a large, pink muzzle; extensive, long rabbit ears; multi-color eyes. They were all about to be subdued by an anthro, male rabbit.

As the titan was so close to the ground, it was hard to ignore the wealthy package that being carried between his legs, and the skin-tight garments he was wearing did little to nothing to hide it. But, despite being a lot closer, the distance from his bulge and the ground was still so enormous even the best steamships of the Empire couldn't even dream of reaching that high. None of that mattered, though, if not to only emphasize their puny, pathetical scale before the presence of that human-like rabbit.

As for those who were kilometers away from Sagunto, back at Karnaca and trapped underneath what could only be the grooves of the sole of that giant's boots, the imminent doom was close. From the perspective of someone as tall as that rabbit was, it was like his foot didn't move at all as he kept his instance. But, to all of those who were underneath it, it was like watching towering, imposing walls moving hundreds of meters within the blink of an eye. That simple action alone changed the geography underneath the massive sole drastically, opening up deep ravines and creating hills. The survival rate for the inhabitants at the coast was pushed to the edge.

At Saggunto, even if the town was lucky enough to not find itself erased out of existence underneath a giant boot. Everyone was now staring at what could only be described as a strange, gun-looking device of massive proportions being aimed directly on top of their region. The device's barrel diameter was wider and larger than the entire city, exceeding its area by more than ten times. Being directly underneath its muzzle provided the tiny people below a direct view of the perplexing equipment's inside. Internal mechanism bigger than their buildings moving in a perfect synchronized matter as the colossal anthro rabbit casually moved his finger, pulling the trigger. It didn't take long until a spark of light could be seen forming in the confines of the device barrel, a tiny little light at the end of a long tunnel that rapidly grew into an overpowering, blinding sun. And that concentrated beam was the last thing they all saw as their microscopic town was carelessly disintegrated.

The imposing titan would get himself back to his feet, raising himself to his true height and casting an equally imposing shadow over the land right in front of his slim body. And, by doing so, without even knowing it, the rabbit would finish to completely eradicate any signs of the nano city of Karnaca at the shore as his boot simply raised itself out of the region as the gargantuan male shifted his instance. The ocean water worked quickly to fill the crater left behind by kilometers wide boot.

"It would be nice if one of you could come down here and help me out with the camping site."

The girly bunny said through his communicator just after finished taking the first soil sample.

"Well, don't look at me. Somebody got to stay here and make sure everything will be fine, right."

Said the domestic Siamese Cat.

"Fine, and what about Taylor? I assure you shrinking down only for a few days won't shrink your ego."

Millo said, giggling at the end, trying to tease his boy for a moment.

"Too bad for you, I'm stepping at the teleport pad, and I won't be going to your location, rabbit boy."

"What?"

"I'm sending Taylor to the northern continents, Millo."

"I mean, I'm surprised you convinced him to shrink down first place."

"Just to let you know, I'm going to be even smaller than you. Proud boy~."

Taylor interjected after clearing his throat.

"Really?"

"Yeah! While you were down there, I kept working, and I just managed to adjust the teleport parameters to squeeze the shrink even further. Considering the machine was not designed to shrink anything so small, it's almost like a major breakthrough."

"Isaac, can you imagine how much easy my job would have been if I were smaller down here. I mean, when I look around, all I see is an endless desert!"

"Sorry bunny boy, but you were our boomer here. Taylor is the next generation, baby. But, if it cheers you up a bit, it's not like he'll have a huge advantage over you."

"Next-generation Lion ready to beam down, sir!"

"Oh, great! Shouldn't have called him "the next generation." Now his ego will remain gigantic for the next week."

The bright morning sky turned even brighter, followed by the resounding sound of a loud explosion strong enough to break windows throughout the entire Pradym city. Once the blinding beam of light in the form of a circle column coming directly from the sky was gone, a dark shadow involved the entire city. The picture all of the citizens of the small, far away town in the middle of the highlands were staring at was breathtaking, to say the least.

A being of divine proportions appeared on the horizon. The sheer scale of that being was monumental, remarkable by itself. But that was one fact out of the leviathan who now stood imposingly above their entire province. The figure wasn't even human. Anyone staring at it from the bottom to the top would be able to notice the large openings at the front of his footwears, revealing four animal-like toes, each one of them displaying massive, sharp feline claws. A single claw alone would have been enough to put the whole town to shame in terms of size and area.

Following up the colossal extension of his body, legs, and thighs so huge and well-toned to the point that being's garment fabric couldn't do much to hide the small palpitations out of his muscles every time that titan slightly adjusts his instance, until finally arriving at his waistline level, where it was possible to observe not only a well-endowed packaged but also a long, firmly strong, tail extending itself from the top of the rear all the way down to the knees casually waving itself, ripping out entire acres of trees out of the ground within the resulting air displacement.

A Lion! The leviathan they were all staring at was a humanoid Lion of some sort. A gigantic, monolithic, titanic anthro male Lion. A god!

The citizens of Pradym barely had any time to figure out what to do in the face of such a threat when one of the gargantuan boots began to lift itself out of the ground. The towering giant was about to take a step forward. The tip of his claws slightly rubbing against the ground as the paw lifted itself, enough to open up deep ravines on the surface of the region. The population who gathered together at the streets of the town couldn't do anything other than scream and run, panicking as the dark the shadow which enveloped them got even darker while the large sole of that single boot was looming right above and moving at phenomenal speeds. Some debris was falling, tiny rocks and other particles that got stuck underneath the Feline's sole completely imperceptible to the titan, but large enough to flatten entire factories ran over Pradym.

Lucky, the imposing giant continued to propel his paw forward-moving it past the city and landing it right on top of a far south mountain. The whole peak was flattened as if it were made of beach sand, inflicting little to no resistance at all to the landing boot heel. To watch an entire mountain be leveled with a single step was terrifying, but the people of Pradym barely had any time to think about it. The blowing, tornado-like winds from the moving boot were strong and fast enough to take both houses and citizens out of the ground and send them flying towards the direction that titan was moving until the shockwave of his foot landing back to the ground destroyed whatever was left of their town.

What little was left of the small city of Pradym became barely recognizable, and it didn't even take a single step to do it. Some poor souls were still alive among the debris of what was once a town, only to be a witness as the moving tail of that anthropomorphic Lion started to approach. Moving slowly and softly, the yellow, fluffy tip of the tail only grew large the closer it got to the field. Soon enough, the fewer survivors were able to see and make out individual fur strands on that massive tail until it finally touched down the ground, ending their puny lives without its owner even register anything else other than dirt underneath it.

A powerful, firmly light beam erupted in the middle of the sky of the north region of the Tyvia continent. The strong blazing light occupied the sky for less than a second, enough to blind half of the population across the entire north coast of the continent and to force the poor Lion boy to fall back on his butt.

"What that fuck!"

The only words Taylor would be able to say after covering his face with his left arm, waiting until the light was gone to able to see and try to understand what was going on. However, once the slender Feline did move his arm away from his face, what he saw in front of him was so astonishing even though he knew exactly what it was, his brain refused to admit or to understand.

"Isaac!?"

Standing back on his two feet Taylor realized he could barely make it to the tip of the black color adornment around the Siamese-cat shinning gray boots. Taylor tilted his head upwards in an attempt to see the far, endless extension of the cat boy body, though he found out very fast it was quite of a challenging task.

"Isaac! What are you doing? Oh, hey, Isaac!"

Despite being close to his friend, no matter what he said, the Siamese feline didn't seem to hear the micro, comparatively speaking, Lion's voice, That until Taylor finally realized his comms was off.

"Ok. ISAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC!!!!!!!! DOWN HERE!!! What are you doing? Are trying to kill me?"

The towering colossus standing in front of the Lion raised his arms immediately, taking his hands to his pointed feline ears.

"Ouch! Don't need to yell through the comms!"

Isaac said before looking down, quickly finding the half of a toe sized Lion by his paws. The anthropomorphic domestic Feline crouched down. The action itself resulted in a somewhat loud rumbling noise for Taylor and an earth-shattering earthquake that ran throughout the Tyvia continent.

"What are you even doing here? Weren't you supposed to stay on the ship? And why so big?"

"Well, two reasons, really. One, a brilliant, super-smart Lion pilot called Taylor forgot to turn on his comms unit before leaving the ship. And the second one, Millo is convinced this planet might have intelligent living on it already."

"What? That's impossible."

"Yeah, I know. But you know how Millo is, once he gets something in his mind to regards to..."

"No! I mean, I was sure the comms were on. I checked it."

"Okay... Well..."

Isaac moved two fingers, pinching the small Lion between the pads of his fingertips easily, despite Taylor's pathetical protests before raising him up to full height. The number of G forces applied over the micro Lion was more than enough to force him to stay quiet.

"The reason for the why I'm this big, it's because your bunny boy got a little frustrated after finding the perfect spot for placing the campaign, and now being forced to pack the whole thing. He needs some help. And since the ship's teleport system is overloaded with the amount of energy required to teleport and shrink us all, we will be walking."

While speaking, Isaac forced the poor Lion to endure the warm breath escaping his lips. Not only that, but the domestic Cat also took advantage out of the situation to use his left paw to remove the boot out of his right paw, and before letting Taylor having a chance to speak, he lowered himself down and simply dropped the miniature Lion down into his waiting boot.

Taylor landed on the insole, face first. Even if the fabric was quite soft, his landing resulted in a light thud.

"Hey!!! You can't take me with you inside your shoes!"

Despite the small Lion protests, the looming paw moved in position to slip back inside the boot, casting a dark shadow over Taylor's current location. The Lion didn't have much choice. Taylor stood quickly and ran right to the insole's front area, hoping that he would be allowed some free space. Unfortunately, as the towering toes got closer, the male Lion saw the space between him and them shrinking until he found himself being pressed underneath the weight of a single toe. The warmth of the ball of that single toe making the poor Feline begin to sweat.

"Consider this my personal revenge for that whole month under quarantine as micro stuck with you and Millo~."

With those final, rumbling words, the titanic Siamese-cat begin to walk towards the south. Each step covering hundreds of kilometers and forcing Taylor's face against the slightly sweaty ball of his toe. Soon the Lion boy's face was deeply buried between the crotch of two large smelly toes, and there was nothing Taylor could do to fight them given their size and weight. At least the combination of a soft insole and soft paw-pad were preventing him from getting brutally hurt.

No matter how much Taylor fought, there was nothing he could. However, he wasn't the only one who was going to be at the mercy of the Cat's boots. Two smaller cities happened to be on the way of the giga-sized walking Feline.

From the perspective of the citizens of the cities of Yaro and Samara, even the form of a single boot was recognizable. The sheer size of that thing was just so massive that it was able to cast both cities underneath its shadow simultaneously. The residents of the city of Samara watched in disbelief as that approaching heel of that boot was about to land, lowering itself over the totality of the area of Yaro's city.

First, the heel made the touchdown, the grooves of that giga-sized boot engraving the ground, ripping the city apart and burring it debris deeper into the ground. Second came the thundering sound of the impact. It was unimaginably louder than any bomb their steampunk like Empire could even dream of crafting. Finally, after a few minutes came the air shockwaves followed by the earthquake, all of that while the tip of the same boot was already turning their sky into night and throwing the entire city of Yaro in darkness.

The end was fast as it didn't take much longer after the heel landed for the front part of the boot to achieve touch down as well. In a moment, an entire city was there, and then it was gone. Simply replaced by the large gray round part of a single gargantuan boot. Part of what was left of the city of Yaro remained stuck to the grooves underneath that titanic shoe as if it were no more than pathetical, useless dust to be carried along by the blissfully unaware Cat.

All the while, the poor Lion boy was being carried along too. Taylor was beginning to feel like dust underneath his friend's big toes. By the time the poor Lion's face and his body were so flattened underneath that warm, slightly sweaty ball of the massive Siamese Cat paw pad, he was beginning to believe he was about to merge with the paw pad. And Isaac still had some more minutes walking to cover the distance to the Rabbit boy at the equator continent.
