Gideon's Proposal
The chubby red fox nervously fiddled with his paws, trying to work up the courage to ring the doorbell. "C'mon Gid you can do this! You're gonna get in there and make em see that cha ain't....!" Gideon's pep talk to himself was interrupted by the sound of a lock being fiddled with, his tail stood on end and he quickly tried to steel his nerves. The door creaked open just a smidge to reveal the eye of a plump bunny.
"Well, well, well Gidoen Grey. Thought I recognized that voice, now why exactly are you mumbling outside my front door?" Stu said while cautiously opening up the door a bit more.
"Well,I-I uh, y-ya see...." Gideon fumbled through his words and was stopped when he felt the soft paw of the older bunny grab his fidgety paw.
"Slow it down there son, just breath. I'm not gonna bite your head off, alright? Just say whatcha came here to say."
Gideon felt himself blush at Stu's touch but continued taking a breath. "Stu i'd like to t-to go into business with ya."
The bunny laughed and Gideon's ears drooped. "Ooooh boy that's a good one, haha oh my!"
Stu went to close the door and Gideon interjected, "I know that people saw me as a dumb mean ol fox, and uh i guess i was a dumb mean ol fox for a long while there." Stu held the door in place, intrigued by fox's demeanor, he had never seen him look so docile. "All i'm asking fer is an opportunity to show ya that i-i'm actually a pretty darn good baker."
Stu thought for a moment looking at Gideon, the fox was certainly putting up a good act if nothing else. Stu pushed the door open, "A pretty darn good baker? Don't suppose you have anything to back up that claim?"
Gideon's eyes lit up and his tail started to wag. "I-I most certainly do sir!" He picked up the small basket sitting next to him, removing the cloth covering. Stu got a big whiff of blueberry and saw that the fox had brought some fine looking blueberry pies along with him. "I made them from the one's y'all grow on yer farm, I-I think they have the best flavor around."
Gideon blushed again, and the older bunny chuckled. "Well alright then, a praise to my crops is praise to me and my whole family. Guess it'd be rude not to try em."
Stu stepped aside waving Gideon forward, and the fox excitedly came in with his goodies. "I-I really can't t-thank you enough for hearing me out sir."
Stu booped gideon on the nose, "I just said I'd try em alright, we'll talk after i'm done eating all right?"
Gideon nodded and turned away , every time the bunny brushed against him his heart started beating out of his chest. He took the opportunity to compose himself as he presented a fresh slice of pie. "Well, eat up while it's hot sir!"
Stu rolled his eyes, he wasn't expecting much but took a bite. His eyes went wide and started scarfing down the rest of the hefty slice Gideon had cut for him. "Well i'll be darned, Gideon Grey baker extraordinaire."
Gideon's ears perked up and a grin snuck its was onto his face. "S-so you like it?" Gideon found himself fiddling with his paws again, and stu let out a hearty laugh, spilling bits of blueberry that had still been stuck to the side of his mouth.
"Gideon, that pie is out of this world good! You made this with our blueberries right?" Stu went ahead and got himself another slice as Gideon rambled on for a bit, stuttering and blushing, unable to contain his excitement. After finishing his second slice Stu patted his full belly and took Gideon's paw in his, and gave it a firm shake. "We can work out the details later, but i'm sure once Bonnie gets a taste of this she'll agree. Gid, you've got real talent and I'd be happy to partner up with you."
Gideon's heart skipped a beat, and he jumped up cheering. He was brought back to reality hearing the laugh of the older bunny, clearly amused at his little display. "Uh, s-sorry sir. May have gotten a little carried away there" Gideon rubbed the back of his head.
"I don't mind Gid, just never seen a fox act so darn cute before!"
Gideon felt himself melt, "C-cute?"
"Yes cute!", the bunny laughed again, "I didn't mean to tease you or anything, you really are different than you were as a youngin."
The blushing fox tried to avoid the rabbit's big brown eyes, "T-thank you for seeing that sir."
Stu placed his paw on Gideon's shoulder, "You don't have to be so formal with me Gid, just call me Stu. Or you can call me daddy, all those kids of mine do!"
Stu laughed at his own little joke and Gideon quickly gathered up his things. "A-alrighty then i'll come by later to t-talk things out with you two. Have a nice day S-s-stu!" The fox didn't leave Stu a chance for a proper goodbye and hurried back into his van, starting to drive off. "Aw crud, aw man, please tell me he didn't notice!" Gideon thought to himself as he tried to ignore the tent that had formed in his pants. The more he tried to ignore it the worse it got, his mind still focused on Stu's soft touch and kind words. "D-d-daddy?" He muttered to himself, smiling at the thought of actually saying it to the cute bunny that made his heart race.
