Day at the Gym
My first attempt at writing 3rd person, and writing something furry
Will update it as I continue the short story, maybe turn it into a full story with many chapters

An early afternoon and the gym was already swamped, the air thick with moisture and heat. Rerum tense and unenthused, clearly letting the words of the gym staffer go in one ear and out the other. "Well, rerum we here at 'Fur-endly Fitness' look forward to your dedication to staying healthy and fur-tastic..." As if the employee droning on wasn't enough to drive rerum's animosity for wednesdays, he was also contending with an angst of crowds. "...Our equipment here at 'Fur-endly Fitness' is top notch and we have professionals in the fitness & health fields. So expect the best of your cost effective payment of our fur-tastic $25 monthly membership!" The staffer and Rerum started moving past the offices and over to a rest area with a wooden bench and water fountain with the latest water bottle filler. Rerum finally finding the nerve to speak up, sitting down on the bench while the staffer filled their water bottle.
"Look sir... I-I didn't catch your name, but..." The staffer shaking his head to the music playing in the background. "...I r-really have to go. I forgot I left my stove on, it would be a shame if my studio burned down" The staffer, finishing filling their bottle up, turns around his body slightly grooving to the beat of the music. "And just like that we fur-tasticly save water and stop plastic waste with the water bottle filler here at FF" Rerum stands back up, clearly in dismay following the staffer again. Walking past the many weight racks scattered around the gym, in front of the free weights section. The two clearly caught the eyes of a gym goer, in the reflection of the mirror on the opposite side of the room as they curled their weights.
Theo curling his weights, barely a warm up for his toned biceps. Though overall well toned, caught the sight of a Liger in a red T-shirt and black jean shorts, average but curvy body, and wearing a maroon collar with a golden father attached to the D-ring looped onto the collar, the back half vanishing into his extremely fluffy main. The liger being led by an overly enthused gym member, not noticing the Ligers discomfort. Theo, finding the liger to be a cutie in distress, sets his weights down and begins to approach. Stopping the staffer by putting a hand on their shoulder.
"Hey Henry... seems like the new member is having reservations about his new 'Fur-endly Fitness' venture. Why don't you let me take it from here?" Henry agrees Knowing theo to land clients like it's a perfected art form and walks off saying his "Fur-tastic" farewell. Theo extending his hand out to rerum, catching a better look at the liger's gold feather the name 'Rerum' embossed in the center. "Hey I'm Theo, part time trainer here"
Rerum extending his hand cautiously, seeing Theo's smile helped cure his anxiety a bit. "H-hey theo..." Rerum nervously chuckling probably seeing his last chance of escape. "...I'm rerum and I bet you can't wait to help me learn more about the gym. But I really have to go you know..." Rerum stops shaking Theo's hand and gestures to the door, the music changes and the sounds of metal being lifted fill the ambiance of the 'Fur-endly Fitness'. "...Left my lights on in my studio, and you know electric prices are killer these days so please help me save my electric bill" Theo standing at 7' tall compared to Rerums 5'11", leans in and whispers.
"Look not to be rude but I can smell bullshit a mile away rerum" Theo leaning back up points to the office rooms, Smiling and truly getting a sense for how uncomfortable rerum is. "Why don't we go to my office if you would like, it's not exactly the front door. But it is an escape from the busy crowd"
Rerum contemplating the offer staring at the ground, his tail wrapped around his waist and hands in his pocket. Nodding and completely flustered, "Sure T-theo..."
Theo leads them to his office, opening the door and letting rerum enter first, following through and closing the door behind them. Taking a seat at his office chair, rerum seated in the chair in front of his desk. "Okay so before we continue, no lying anymore okay. At least with me" Theo lightly chuckled.
Rerum looking over Theo, a tall, toned stag his muscle shirt tightly pressed onto his torso. Never making eye contact Rerum nods and fiddles with the golden feather. "Okay I can do that"
