Canine Mate Lovin'
(A canon Star Fox Love Story)
Chapter 1: Meeting and Falling
Author's notes: Okay, now it's high time I started doing this. And that is to start telling the truth for the other Star Fox couples. Everyone that needs to be covered will get their tale told. But I decided to start with Bill and Fay as despite the horrible things with him, even more so with her, it felt like a good place to start. Though this overall story won't be long, it's still canon and most can work for any of my other works just with some minor tweaks. Two things to note with these stories. X's are used to jump through time. And two, any negative feedback, any hate, etc, the comments will be deleted and removed, no exception. With that in mind enjoy the canon story of how Fay and Bill met, and fell in love.

Life could be tough and work as well depending on the job. For a fighter in space, be it for military or mercenaries, was one of the tougher jobs and dangerous ones for a career choice. But when you had friends and teammates, then things became more bearable. And especially when one found their true love, their one and only, and the one meant to be with them. No matter what was said, done, written, drawn, made, or how much hate was given, the love one had for their special someone always prevailed. And that was felt very strongly for Bill Grey and his girl Fay Spaniel. Like two matching puzzle pieces, the bulldog and poodle were made for the other. Despite how much hatred there was for being them together, resistance to that, horrible art and stories of them that everyone was well aware of, there were far more when it came to supporting the cute canine couple. This included all of their friends and teammates as well who gave Bill and Fay their full support. For that, both of them were grateful, just as much as how happy and in love the poodle and her one and only felt for their loved one and mate. And the two knew on the first day they met, somehow, that they had found the only being they wanted and needed in their life. Some might argue saying nobody could. But there were exceptions to knowing like with many things.
Now Bill of course had been fighting against Andross during that first war. But Fay herself had been at a different academy as she had not quiet been there with actual fighting. Sure, the poodle wanted nothing more than to get out there and show she could handle herself. But rules were rules and the female knew better than to act up during her time at the academy, least she be expelled from it for reckless behavior. However, it turned out to be for the best for after the war ended, the team called Star Flight came to the Lylat. They had come from a very different system and were looking for opportunities for work and other pilots to join them as the original team was a bit too small to be a proper force. Star Flight had been recommended to the best academies for pilots in all of the Lylat after contacting General Pepper. Fay had been in one of them which helped, and seeing as how graduation for her had almost arrived, the poodle prayed and hoped that she would be picked by this team to join them. Even if it was a long shot, there was a chance. At least she wasn't alone in this as there was another who was waiting for such an opportunity and that was Miyu Lynx. Now both the poodle and feline had known the other since childhood. However, it was to be noted no matter what was thought, said, and done, the two ladies were straight. Sometimes the horrible stuff out there from art, stories, and videos got the two beyond angry. It pissed the canine and lynx off to no end. They weren't the only ones as well. Even so, the two didn't spend all their time and energy focused on that but strove to be the best they could as pilots and fighters. For Fay though, that also included mechanics and had been given the playful nickname the crazy gear head. The poodle didn't mind as Fay did love to tinker with machines. But she was still more feminine and certainly not a tomboy. Being a tomboy was more Miyu with her single earing and tough like attitude. But the lynx made it clear she could also be a lady as well.
Despite these differences, the two did have a good friendship, able to tell the other anything, from daily life, frustrations, even crushes on other guys. It was to be noted whenever the other did get a boyfriend, there was no sharing or swapping. Miyu and Fay wouldn't even dream of doing that. Luckily never once had there been a time when both ladies had crushed on the same guy at the same time. This was most likely due to different tastes in what the poodle and Lynx found attractive in a male. However, one thing in the two lady's romantic history was the fact Miyu had lost her virginity while Fay hadn't. For the former it had been at the academy with one male, and nobody on Star Fox, Star Wolf, or any team. But for the poodle, even if she had never had any sexual experiences, wasn't naïve. The poodle knew things, what she would do and wouldn't do while in bed with whoever was her first, and also what sex could lead to as well. Fay though was perfectly happy and find to be fucked before marriage as long as whoever was her first did so with love and passion, to please her like she would with him. However, the poodle would be on the pill when that time came just like always. Fay did like kids and knew she would raise a family one day, but only when the time was right and with the right guy.
And it turned out Bill would be that guy Fay had been waiting for. But first came the part of if she would join up with Star Flight or not by their choice. It was not an easy decision for the leader Nicholas McCoy and the original members, Ben who was a male hare, Cody who was a male river otter, and Kira, who was not only Cody's girlfriend, but also a female river otter. There were quite a few at the academy Fay and Miyu were attending who had the qualities they were looking for. It was not just due to skills, but also the right attitude and personality that Star Flight needed for other members. But what ended up tipping the favor for the poodle and lynx was not just them knowing and already working well together in a team, but the fact Star Flight really needed a mechanic. Sure, they could have selected a regular one, but having one that knew how to fight too was far more valuable. When Fay and Miyu heard the news they both were being chosen, the two ladies had been stunned before feeling joy and happiness. Finally the opportunity they wanted was here. However, Star Flight made it clear that it would be up to them if they joined and wouldn't force the poodle or lynx. But there was no need as Fay and Miyu joined without a second thought.
Once the poodle and lynx were on board and settled, the last two permanate members were found at two other different academies; Luna McCay and Fara Phoenix. All four were perfect additions for Star Flight. But then came with getting help from others who became temporary members. They weren't on the team full time, but if they needed a break from their other jobs, needed work, or just a place to stay, Star Flight always welcomed them back each time with open arms. These were Katt Monroe, Amanda, the frog who would in time become engaged to Slippy, and Dash Bowman. But the final was Bill Grey, the one Fay would fall for and loose her virginity to. How he joined was wanting to see what being a mercenary was like. Sure, he didn't mind leading his forces like the time against Andross. But the bulldog wanted a bit more. With Pepper's permission, Bill took some time off to be with Star Flight. This was fine as the Lylat after the war had gone to a time of piece. At least that was until what would happen with the Aparoids. Bill was directed to Star Flight and the bull dog would end up meeting the team and the one he would end up dating on the mother ship. And it was one day the bulldog and poodle would never forget.

"Are all of your ready?" Nicholas asked his team on that day as they stood in the hanger bay. This guy was a vulpine with long yellow hair tied back in a ponytail and was wearing glasses, and sporting a thin one inch scar on the right side of his chin.
"Locked and loaded!" Cody replied. By this point it was not just Fay and Miyu who were permanate team members, but also Fara and Luna too and they were also waiting here with the rest.
"I think it'll be nice to work with someone who's got a lot of real fighting experience," the lynx said. "Bill did fight in the war after all."
"Yeah, I remember hearing about that," Fay added. "He lead the Husky and Bulldog units on Katina and Star Fox helped them out. I think those squadrons are still around."
"Nice, you did your homework Fay," the vulpine leader of Star Fox complimented her.
"Well I've only heard of him and seen some footage of him but have never met him face to face."
"Although can he leave his squadrons?" Luna asked.
"General Pepper, me, and him talked it over," Nicholas answered. "He's gotten permission. Besides, with the Lylat at peace, I don't think the squadrons are needed for small time crime or odd jobs."
"Yeah, I'd hate to see you get busted when you're new here," Fara said to him with a teasing grin. Even though by now the vixen had a crush on Nicholas that was turning to love like it was for him when it came to her, that didn't mean the vixen couldn't poke fun at the guy she had fallen for.
"Very funny Fara..." Nicholas grumbled, pretending to be annoyed.
Just then the group were alerted of an approaching fighter. "That's probably him," the vulpine here stated. The guy then got a grin. "Now I hope I don't have to tell all of you to be on your best behavior."
"Yeah, yeah, we hear you," Ben replied with a roll of his dark red colored eyes.
The ones gathered here saw the approaching fighter fly into the main bay having been given clearance to land. This was a bit more of a modified Cornerian Fighter. So while it had the green markings, red colored tipped wings, and circles on the wings, the shape of the ends were slightly more pointed and sleeker looking with the body. Everyone in the hanger bay watched the vehicle make a smooth stop and wait for Bill to turn it off. The cockpit then opened the bulldog emerged, getting a grin on his muzzle. "Made it," the bulldog said softly before removing his helmet.
The guy placed his green colored helmet in the cockpit, the color being the same as what was on the fighter. The male was wearing a grey colored jacket, and his flight suit was similar in colors to match his ship with having red accent lines on the green colored portion. He did have a yellow bandana around his neck. And Bill's green colored eyes were sharp as the peepers spotted Star Flight waiting for him. His floppy tan colored ears lifted up with excitement.
"Well hey there!" he called after jumping from his cockpit to the ground of the hanger bay. The bulldog had a bit of a surfer guy like accent but nothing too obnoxious. The guy after all was a commander of forces and he certainly had the confidence and what it took to be a leader in his voice to show this.
"Welcome aboard," Nicholas said to the bulldog and the two walked forward to shake paws.
"I gotta say this is something man," the canine commented, impressed. "I'm happy I could get away a bit from my regular duties. I just needed a break you know?"
"Totally understandable. And after hearing and seeing the footage, I know despite this being temporary, you'll be a great addition to the team."
This whole time Fay had noticed Bill. And what the poodle saw made her stare and her a stirring happen in her heart without realizing it. She then felt a familiar feeling that hadn't happened a lot but the poodle had gone through before. This was not getting a simple crush; what Fay was starting to feel were butterflies forming in her stomach along with her heart lurching and beating a little faster than usual. Nobody else seemed to notice this just yet. The poor female felt her cheeks begin to warm up as well with blush. She had to pinch herself, and literally too, to keep her paws from going up to the red bow she always wore and check to make sure it was straight and acceptable for interacting with others. Nicholas's voice made Fay snap back to the present. "So then Bill, would you like to see your room?" the vulpine offered. "There's plenty to choose from."
"Sure man, that'd be good."
"Once we get your stuff there, I can introduce you to everyone."
The two then began to head to them with Bill's small amount of things brought. But Fay just stared after the bulldog, a dreamy look coming onto her face and smile to match. The poodle even had her tail wagging back and forth with happiness, not even realizing what was happening to her. Nobody else but Miyu noticed as they had begun to disperse from the area. The lynx noticed what was going on with her friend and got a teasing grin. "What's this?' the feline asked in a voice to match. "You see something you... like?"
The poor canine jumped so bad her feet left the ground for a second. Fay was red in the face, heart thudding. "WHA...?!" was all that came out of her mouth, a bit of nervous sweat already pooling out of her forehead.
Miyu let out an amused laugh. "It's okay Fay, seriously, I couldn't be any happier for you."
"Miyu, I just saw him!" the poodle exclaimed, all flustered. "I haven't even met him yet!"
"And I know you too well. I know that look you got when seeing him. I may not be as lady like as you, but I can tell. I'm a female after all."
"I..." Fay looked back to see Bill disappear for now down a hallway to get to his room since they were down that way.
Miyu grinned. "Either way, I'm happy for you. God knows when the last time you had a guy." The poodle did have to give her friend that one. "Just at least get to know him Fay. Talk to him."
The poor canine went even redder at the thought. "Oh god, no, I don't think I could...!" she whimpered, shaking her head back and forth so fast it was almost like Fay was a cartoon character and due to nerves.
The lynx let out a sigh. "Look Fay, you know what is out there of you art and story wise right?"
"Ugh, don't remind me," the latter growled as it infuriated her just as much as Miyu and both were fully aware of that horrible fucked up shit.
"Well then, even if this might not change those sick fuck's minds, but at least you can show you are not what they try to make you to be. Even if this doesn't work, at least it's a way to once again show you're into guys only like me."
"Yeah but..." The poodle still faltered.
"Look, don't view him as Bill Grey yet as you're right you two haven't yet. Get to know him better and pretend he's someone you admire or look up to like your dad or Nicholas. That might help with just talking to him." Miyu again grinned. "As you're are, you're acting like a 13 year old who just got a crush on the hottest guy in her class."
Fay let out a nervous laugh at that despite the situation. "Yeah... Better to make a good first impression than a fool or make me look like an idiot."
"Well good luck with it." The lynx walked away after giving her best friend an encouraging smile.
Fay let out a breath and decided it was best to wait for Bill to come back with Nicholas so the introductions could be done. It came much sooner than the poodle wished as she still wasn't quiet mentally prepared. "Okay... just calm down Fay," she thought in her head after being alerted Bill was going to meet the rest of the team. "Just remember what Miyu told you in viewing him for now... Imagine he's just a random male or something like that..."
The team went to the main control area where one piloted the mother ship and found Nicholas waiting with the bulldog. "Here they are," the vulpine told him. Bill came to attention to learn the names. "Bill, I'd like you to meet Fara, Ben, Cody, Kira, Miyu, and Fay."
The male canine smile and nodded to them all. But when it came to the poodle, he did a double take and couldn't help but stare at Fay, stunned. It was only for a couple of seconds but they seemed to last a lifetime. "Whoa..." the bulldog thought. "She's really cute..." Now one could argue, what about the other females here? It was quiet simple; they didn't have the same effect on Bill as Fay did in this moment. It was most likely because none of the ladies had looks that didn't attract him. What the bulldog saw when looking at Fay was her red bow, her cute ears and face, such lovely blue colored eyes, gorgeous white colored fur, and thosse cute curves on her body. Her outfit with that red scarf, white jacket, and light blue flight suit with purple on it just completed the look.
Bill then snapped back to the present but knew he had to meet Fay face to face. "Nice to meet ya!" he told them with a wave and eyes closed and a smile on his face to hide what had happened. Fay just saw that and felt her heart skip a beat and her body warm up seeing the bulldog look like that.
"You guys can get acquainted; I've got some stuff to do," Nicholas then said. He then turned to Fara with a smile. "Also Fara, we still need to get your medical records into the main computer of this ship." This of course was done in case one of the team members got sick and needed medical attention.
The vixen nodded and failed to hid the slight blush on her cheeks because of the vulpine. Everyone then began to leave to do their own thing. That left only Bill and Fay in this room, with both trying swallowing their nerves. The poodle let out a small breath, trying to calm herself despite now feeling butterflies forming in her stomach. "I can do this..." the female thought in her head.
"Er... hey," the poodle then said, turning to look at Bill.
"Yeah, uh, hi!" he replied, a bit flustered and nervous. "Fay right?"
She nodded, not even aware her tail was wagging back and forth with happiness already. "You settled in?" The poor poodle was doing her best just to make small talk and not see Bill as a hot cool guy to her eyes. It was kind working and kinda failing at the same time.
"Yeah, mostly," the bulldog replied. "You've been on the team long?"
"Still fairly new." Fay was starting to relax. That was the way to do it, just ease and slowly open up to the male. "I... I've always wanted to part of team like this."
"That's cool. It's like why I need a break from leading for a bit."
Fay nodded and the two were silent for a few seconds. "Er... would you like to be shown around?" the poodle offered, a bit nervous and shy due to this encounter with Bill.
"That'd be good... if you don't mind," he replied, feeling the same way.
"Sure, follow me." The female began to walk to do so and Bill was treated to a glorious sight, the first with Fay until the night he took her virginity. The male got a lovely view of Fay's backside and it was just as wonderful as her front. The way her hips, her tail, and ass moved; Bill was zapped and smitten even more.
"God damn..." the male thought in his head, images of her in sexual ways popping into his head. It was to be expected being a guy, but soon they would be for the right reasons due to true love. "ARGH! Focus Bill!"
She in the meantime felt, or for now thought she felt the male checking her out. Due to how her heart had lurch, Fay already was a happy dog and didn't mind it was Bill. Even if this went nowhere, the female hoped it would already. But for now, it was best to just getting to know this guy. "Even though I just met him, I can't help but think I have a shot with him," she thought. "Even if that is only a .01 chance, I have to take it. Better than not doing so and regretting the choice of never taking the chance."
The tour began and Bill asked questions about the ship to not let all the talking be on her. That really helped break the ice and allow the two canines to relax in the presence of the other's company. That led to talking about some of the battles the bulldog had done, some of the time Fay had spent at her academy, interests, and other things. Bill was caught by surprise when learning of Fay's love of machines and being the mechanic for Star Flight. "Wow, I never would guess you would be that," he told her with a grin. "I figured Miyu would but it goes to show you never should judge a person by looks. I think that's awesome you follow that passion of yours."
"Thanks," the poodle replied with a smile. That made Bill's heart beat skip, it was such a lovely smile to his eyes. "I've been called crazy gear head because of that."
The male with her let out a laugh like a bark. "I just might call you that then!"
"Just don't get too carried away, surfer boy." That came out of Fay's mouth due to how Bill sounded like that a bit.
But the poodle didn't have to worry as this wasn't the first time the bulldog had been called that as a nickname. "You're not the first to call me that. I'll let you."
Fay smiled and they continued on the tour and talking. It couldn't have gone better and thanks to this, the two really got a lot more comfortable being with the other. Although the feelings and stuff felt in their bodies and hearts weren't going to go away, at least it wasn't awkward like clumsy teenagers. Once Bill had been shown around the areas of the ship he needed to know about, it found them back at the control area. "Thanks for showing me around," he told her, both blushing slightly.
"No problem," the poodle replied and both were then silent for a bit as they didn't know how to end this.
Luckily Nicholas came in and though he saw and could guess what was going on from looking, the vulpine needed to talk to Bill about something. The long-haired male knocked on one of the walls which made the two canines turn and saw him standing there. "I hate to interrupt but do you mind Fay if I borrow Bill for a second?" the vulpine asked. "I need to set a time tomorrow for him in order to get his medical info into the ship's systems."
"Oh! Uh, sure!" Fay replied, a bit disappointed, yet relieved that her leader had come back and saved her from an awkward goodbye for now.
"I won't keep him long." Nicholas sent a wink to the poodle, not a flirty one, but rather one that he could tell what was going on and was happy for her and the bulldog. She blushed hard, but Bill didn't notice since his attention was on the vulpine.
"Sure, that is something you said to Fara earlier," the male canine commented. Fay and him made eye contact and the poodle gave him a friendly wave and smile goodbye. Bill nodded and the two males left the female standing there. Her tail was wagging back and forth again and a smile was creeping up onto her face. Fay just let out a happy sigh that this had gone well and knew this wouldn't be the last time she talked and interacted with Bill.
Meanwhile the bulldog and Nicholas were walking to where they needed to be for the medical purpose mentioned. "So that was nice of Fay to show you around," the vulpine told Bill with a grin.
"Er... yeah..." the bulldog answered, blushing and getting nervous.
"Hey, don't worry man. Personally, I think it's great she did. And from what little I saw, I'm happy for you two."
Bill went red in the face and chocked. "Dude! We're not... We just met!"
"Yeah, but I've been around enough to know when someone gets smitten over another. Hell, it's happened to me."
This caught the other male by surprise. "Er... what do you mean?" Bill asked.
"Well even though I think Fay's nice, she's not my type. And sure, Luna's got the looks but it's not her I want as my girl; it's Fara."
"Whoa... really man?" Nicholas nodded. This was one of the first times he had told anyone else. "Well I think it's cool dude. I've got your back on that."
"Thanks, I certainly need it more than you can know."
"Then in that case, I will just say Fay's quiet attractive to me."
"Well I hope you do well with her," Nicholas said. "If you do get with her, just make her happy and treat her well." The two males then went on to talk about other things. But there was no doubt that this would be something new and good for Bill and Fay.

Author's notes: Well that I feel is a good way to start. The second chapter will be up as soon as I can get it ready.
