Just a minute more and the shuttle would land with the landing gear locking, the lights going out and the bay door opening as the soldiers were already getting up and out. First out was Alex and her squad as they checked the perimeter of the ship, giving the all clear before Jackie and his squad helped the scientists get all their gear off their transport. "Location is 700 meters north. Shuttle couldn't get us any closer so we're going on foot." Jackie told everyone. "Remember, there are possible hostiles in the area so keep quiet and stay low. Alex and her squad will be going ahead to make sure we're clear to go."
Without wasting a minute more Alex and her squad turned on the active camo devices they got and were already going ahead, doing recon to figure out the route they would take and make sure they all didn't run into anyone by accident. They all knew it was far enough away from any on-planet colony that if they encountered anyone it would definitely not be a civilian. Her squad split up but kept distance between each other low, making their way in the direction they needed to go, the comms line silent unless one was to call out for something worth noting. It all stayed silent for a while with the only breaks in said silence being to tell the scientists and Jackie's squad to move forward a bit, this being a pattern until one of Alex's squadmates called something. "Ma'am, we got some sort of foot print here. looks a bit like a reaper suit was here."
"Copy that Robert, stay put till I get there. On me everyone.'' Her squad each acknowledged the order one after the other, making their way to group up with Alex and Robert. Once they got to him the tracks were more than noticeable in an open patch of land, all the rocks having been cleared out and moved to one side. "The sat feed didn't show this but it doesn't seem all that recent." Alex commented as she then took a closer look at the large footprints Robert called in about. "Definitely seems like a reaper suit was here. actually it looks like there were a lot of reaper suits and their pilots moving about here. something is off though... Nolan, you were a reaper pilot before, can you tell me anything?"
The zebra switched spots with Robert and took a good look at all the tracks. "It's not reaper suits that were here, I can say that much. I had plenty of time on a few missions to memorize what a reaper suit track looks like and these aren't it. Similar yeah, but not reaper suit tracks."
"Shit, we need to call in on this. Group up with the scientists, now." Before they headed back Alex checked the distance to their destination, getting the pilot of their transport to patch her into the long range communications line. "This is Alex Silver reporting from Tetra Three. We found tracks similar to those of a reaper suit in a cleared patch of land. The patch of land was shown untouched on sat feed but it seems to have been cleared at least a few days prior to this mission. No sightings yet but there is reason to believe there have been mechanized infantry in the area."
"Copy that Silver, stay on missi-" The line went dead suddenly with light static replacing it.
"Shit. long range comms just got jammed. someone knows we're here." She stood up straight and checked everyone over. "We should head back to the ship."
"I agree with that. Come on, let's get this shit back there." Jackie stated as the scientists were scurrying a bit to get their cargo drones turned about and going again.
When the M7 Falcon they came on was in view light thuds started to sound out but they kept going. "Am I going crazy or is everyone else hearing AND feeling that?" One of the cheetahs on Jackie's squad asked, the thudding starting to get louder as the ground rumbled a bit.
