"Well damn. I was right. It is a new race." Patrick commented as he, Julie, Nolan, Robert and Alex all left the assembly hall and started to head back to their squad barracks.
"That just makes me hope even more that we don't end up with an enemy nation or worse, a war with said nation." Alex stated as they walked.
When they got back they all settled in around the room, Julie speaking up after a few minutes. "Alex, how likely do you think it is that we will end up with an enemy nation AND a war?"
Alex sighed before responding. "The fact that they have active military troops hiding on an inhabited planet that's been with the Alliance for over thirty years alone already gives them a good chance of being an enemy. The fact that even just an unarmed scout unit was openly hostile and violent towards Alliance military says to me that it's probably some war monger nation and if that's the case we're probably already at war and we don't even know it. In all honestly the chance of this turning into a full blown war is pretty fucking high but there's still a chance it doesn't and this ends up with a peaceful resolution."
"Well instead of sitting here and fixating on whether or not there's gonna be a war why don't we go to the mess hall and get some food?" Nolan asked once Alex had finished speaking. "It is getting late and I don't know about you guys but I'd like to get some good, proper dinner in me before anything actually starts happening." With that they all agreed and got up to head down to the mess hall, Nolan and Robert making bets on what the dinner of the day was. When they got there Robert let out a groan as Nolan let out a chuckle, the leopard handing Nolan a ten dollar bill before the squad went to actually get their food and sit down.
Once they were finished eating and started to head back to their barracks the speaker system came on with the base commander's voice. "All navy personnel get ready to launch immediately. Situation code is Beta Two. I repeat, situation code is Beta two. All ground personnel be at the ready."
"Ah shit..." Nolan said when the speakers switched back off. "Alex, I think that possible war is already here."
"It doesn't matter. We all know Beta Two means we get geared up right now." Alex stated as the five of them already started going for the armory fast. When they got there three armory officers were already getting soldiers equipped, informing Alex that everyone was to be suited with full combat exo-rigs along with regular combat gear. "Okay, this is definitely bad. Combat exo-rigs were only made mainstream four months ago and they're not even standard for every soldier yet. If everyone's getting kitted with one now then yeah, shit hit the fan quick." After Alex and her squad were geared up completely with exo-skeleton combat rigs included she took her squad to the main hall. "Damn this is happening fast. Not even a day after the mission and code Beta Two is getting put into play."
