An Evertech Tale Chapter 28
#28 of An Evertech Tale
Well the contract had to be signed enventually I suppose, at least Splicer could sweeten the deal... (Double upload because I'm not really sure when I'll have access to my computer, plus I think this goes hand in hand with the previous chapter.)
Splicer's paw was quivering, the pen wouldn't steady as he started signing his name along the line he had been avoiding for the better part of a year. Laguna's paws were underneath his chin as he watched the wolf sign the contract officially labeling him as a pet and property of Evertech. The effect was instantaneous, a rose shape patch of fur began to form on the wolf's thigh, the official company seal and put on every pet owned by Evertech to display their position. Splicer looked about ready to beg the badger to put him to use, he received a beckoning motion as the badger shoved his new pet under his desk, ready to put their mouth to work.
Laguna woke up in his bed, annoyed that the dream was interrupted just as it was staring to get good. He checked his phone to see what was so important to interrupt his sleep. Vay had texted him some CCTV footage of a bar in which a familiar looking beagle had thrown a drink in someone's face and ran off, the realization hit Laguna and his lips curled into a smile.
...
Splicer was escorted into the white room again, this time the contract was on the table in front of him. It was almost enough to make him laugh, each time the badger tried this tactic it was shot down with barely a shrug, this time, felt different, his fur was bristling. Laguna walked into the room spinning his phone in his hand. Splicer had never seen Laguna in such a chipper mood as such.
"You remember your friend? Jack it was, wasn't it?"
"I told you he wasn't an issue, and he never will be."
"Yes you said that but on the other paw I have this..."
That fucking idiot... Splicer watched the video in horror.
"Why are your men chasing him in the first place?" Splicer needed to figure out some kind of way out that wasn't signing the contract. He stood up and started pacing the room back and forth.
"Well I think if you look at this you might understand the situation better." Laguna brought up a map on his phone of multiple cities with red dots over various places. Splicer squinted at the map and began running through safe houses he owned, Jack had hit at least half of them.
"Look I don't know what you think he's doing, but he's not. I told him off myself."
"You know." Laguna cut him off, he was out for the wolf's blood and he was going to cut deep. "Assault of an Evertech officer by an outside force is highly looked down upon."
"YOUR MAN APPROACHED HIM!"
"Even still, I'm afraid other people won't see it that way... other people like Joseph."
_FUCK!_Splicer froze mid pace.
"This isn't fair, this isn't legal this isn't anything even remotely close to it justified."
"We don't tend to deal in legality here... I heard Vay's getting warmed up for a field mission, wonder where he's off to. Hope your friend has a good head start."
"You can't do this to him... not him..."
"Assaulting a security member, tsk tsk, such action really calls for a no questions asked full processing." Laguna hit home, he could almost see the fear emanating from the wolf as he stood frozen in place.
"I... I'll talk to him, I can get him to stop, please just let me talk to him again."
"Why should I let that happen, I'm sure he and Vay will have a lovely chat."
FUCK FUCK! Splicer sat down in the chair looking down at the contract.
"You'll let me speak to him?" He grabbed the pen.
"I'll see what I can do..."
That was all Splicer needed to hear, he grabbed the pen and scribbled his signature down with his eyes squeezed tight. He opened them, his name was across the line, contract sealed. Laguna quickly snatched it off the table before the wolf had a change of heart and tore it up, folding it thrice and putting it inside his coat pocket.
"Mother fucker... I guess that's that then." Splicer said, still in shock at what he just did.
"Indeed it is puppy. I will admit, you held out much longer than expected. I wonder how much longer you would have lasted if your friend didn't find himself in such unfortunate circumstances, very brave of you though..."
"When do I leave? What do I have to do to make all that disappear. And that's just my name on a piece of paper, I'll still pay off my debt and then I'll have rebought my freedom, nothing's changed."
"If you say so... You leave tonight, unfortunately I feel I won't be able to explain away your friend getting away for avoiding us so long to Joe. The best I can offer him is a position in the security force, he'll have all his questions answered but he'll be nanited and become part of the company. I have to admit, letting someone of his skill level be processed would be a waste, I hope you can convince him to come in... better hurry up and put on your finest."
Damn it Jack, now we're both fucked... Splicer got up without another word and got on the elevator. Laguna sat the for a while longer, appreciating the piece of paper he was holding in his paws. He wanted to hold off on the wolf's Evertech marking, usually it was an automatic process done by the nanites, but he had something special in mind.
...
Jack had been cautious about the lack of pursuit he's been under. Instead of the near constant badgering of unseen security agents trailing him, it was like they had all given up.
Maybe I'm just that good? He knew that wasn't the case as he stood in front of the door and picked up the faint trace of a familiar scent. This was impossible, had he finally found an untouched safe house. He began picking the lock, only to realize the door was left open. It was an obvious trap, but he had come too far to give up now. He opened the door, Splicer was sitting in one of the two chairs in the center of the empty room, walls painted the same colour as every other.
"How... could you?" Jack was stunned, he could barely make out a sentace as he looked into the wolf's face. Splicer looked like he was utterly defeated.
"I know your pattern Jack, you think it's always random, it's not. I knew you'd be in this city next, I just had to pick a house and you'd come to me eventually." Splicer fiddled with his ring and looked at his watch anxiously, he had been waiting for this meeting for seven hours, he had planned out every possible situation, ever word he'd say and yet, looking into his friend's face every meticulous word he had planned fell from his grip.
"But, why? What's going on?"
"Jack, you're running around something you can't possibly know the depth of, you thought you were digging me out I bet, didn't you?"
"Well, I mean, yeah of course, that's what I do, save your tail." Jack put on a brave smile, neither of the furs in the room believed it. He sat in the chair adjacent his naked friend.
"Yeah, always the hero aren't you Jack..." Splicer's words stung, he knew something was different.
"What did you do? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" Jack knew something was up at this point, this meeting, the wolf's demeanor, everything was wrong here and he needed to know what was going on before the desire for context drove him insane.
"You thought you were digging me out? You dove head first into the middle of the fucking ocean with sharks with fucking lasers attached to their head circling you. That's what YOU'VE done. You know what they were going to do if they got you before I did? You'd have ended up just like Blaine..."
"MAYBE THAT'S GOOD!" Jack was pissed, not at the wolf but at this whole situation. Maybe he would be better off if he could be will Blaine again, no matter the cost.
"No, Jack, it's not good. You wouldn't even know who Blaine was if that happened, fucking, just listen. I got too close to Evertech and this is what happened, you got even closer and now they want you as good as dead. I had to sign myself away as a pet just for the opportunity to talk to you here."
"Splicer, what are you talking about?"
"No, Jack, Splicer is just my nickname now, my legal name is literally puppy. Do you get that?"
Even knowing the horror of the situation Jack had to scoff at the revelation.
"So I'm in the ocean, what does that even mean, puppy?"
Splicer was ready to deck the beagle, but he held back.
"I'm here to offer you a job, for Evertech."
"You think I'd work for the bastards that have ruined all of our lives?"
"No Jack, you still don't get it, this offer is your only out, either take it, or you'll be processed within the day. Blaine's was easy in comparison to what they have planned for you."
"You keep saying this processing nonsense, what does that even mean?"
"It's like your entire brain is rewritten and your old personality is destroyed until you're nothing but another product ready to be sold off to whatever sick fuck fancies your tail that day, and you won't object."
"That's... dark... Wait and Blaine was?"
"That's what I've been trying to say the whole time, this whole fucking time Jack."
"But you were?"
"Yes I know I was. But here it's different, even if we did the same thing to him, he's probably too far gone..."
Jack felt everything in his body sinking at the same time, Blaine being gone, Splicer selling their very name off just to try bail him out, the obvious team of agents standing behind the front door ready to take him away at the first thought of escape. He looked at the floor.
"I-I'm still not sure. I don't know if I could do it. How could I work for them?"
Splicer took a deep breath, this is where he had to add in the little extra persuasion that Laguna suggested.
"Remember the hotel bathroom?" Splicer got out of his seat, walking over to the beagle standing behind him and running a smooth paw along the beagle's shoulders.
"Y-yeah I mean that was just an act, wasn't it?"
"Oh, Idunno. You tell me, I smelt the desperation on you, didn't you want it then? Do you still want it now?" Splicer whisper the last part right into the beagle's ear as he stretched his hands down the beagle's chest, lightly clawing it.
"No, Splicer, this is wrong... this is all so wrong." Jack was squirming in his seat, the whole situation really was wrong, but he couldn't resist. The wolf was pushing all the right buttons.
"I told you, my name is puppy now..." Splicer walked over in front of the chair, making sure his cage was on full display before kneeling down in front of the beagle. He sat there waiting for a response, tilting his head, making his collar stand on an angle, the blue flash of the bone tag caught Jack's attention and he was mesmerized by the submissive display of the wolf. It wasn't an act, at least, it didn't seem like one. He undid his rapidly tightening jeans as his shaft flopped out, right in front of the wolf's muzzle.
Splicer got to work, the beagle had been running around town for the better part of the day so he smelled the sweat right on Jack's balls, he dicided to give them a playful lick, savouring the salt on his tongue, Jack let out an excited moan as he let pre drip onto the top of the wolf's muzzle. Splicer worked his way up, tracing the underside of the dog's knot, before going up the shaft and arriving at the tip. Jack was practically begging for it at this point, he had been on the run so long, it felt like ages since he last got off. He didn't even care if his friend was the one doing it for him. Splicer began sliding the dick in and out of his muzzle, allowing the knot to tickle his nose. He wasn't going to take the knot in his mouth, he didn't even have to.
Splicer was barely sucking for a minute before he felt the shivering beagle give off the signs that he was clase, he cupped the beagle's balls in a paw and lightly massaged them.
"Oh, fuck, puppy!" Jack didn't even realize he called out the wolf's fake name in that moment, he only felt the most intense orgasm he had in years rock his body as he began painting the inside of the wolf's maw with shot after shot of thick cum. Splicer for a moment thought he'd choke or spill a drop, but he closed his eyes and allowed the taste of his friend to continue flooding his mouth and the back of his throat, making sure nothing escaped.
Jack had closed his eyes and didn't open them for another minute. When he did Splicer was over in the corner sobbing and there was a midnight black otter standing over him looking at him in disgust.
Wait did I just, do that? Jack swallowed hard almost thinking he imagined the last five minutes before the otter turned to look at him.
"So are you going to accept the offer then? I'd rather have you put to work under me than just become some useless toy." The otter looked indifferent towards the beagle, not wanting to waste good skill, but also not really worried if he needed to forcibly drag him kicking and screaming to the closest Evertech processing facility. Laguna had asked him to at least preposition the beagle first.
"What, what would you have me doing then?" Jack swallowed, he really didn't see an out for himself this time.
"Well, I mean aside from training some of the pathetic team members you've been running ragged, I think I'll sign you on as an upper member without much fuss. You'll be nanited, obviously, but you'll be offered some autonomy. Aside from the occasional training sessions you'll do, you'll be allowed to continue your 'independent' spy bullshit to an extent. That being said, you'll be expected to give a full debriefing to me after your missions and if you get a mission from Evertech that becomes top priority. I'll even be willing to assign you a personal pilot."
"Wait does that mean, I can see Blaine again?"
"Who the fuck is Blaine?"
"He's a pilot! Red fox, Splicer said he was processed?"
Vay looked back over at the wolf who couldn't make eye contact with anything but the wall right now.
"Oh, that one, he's a personal pilot of Joseph right now but I'm sure he doesn't particularly care what toy he has flying him around. I'll put in a request, can't promise it'll be granted. With all that being said, you'll have to follow me, and we can discuss the finer details once you've been given your dosage of nanites."
Thank you, Splicer... I'll be able to see him again up close, hopefully. Jack closed his eyes and sighed. He still wasn't happy with how this all turned out but if he could just see Blaine again, maybe he could figure out how to bring him back, eventually. Then maybe he'd find a way to get all three of them out and they could disappear or something. It was a nice dream. Vay led him into the hall, to the street and into an unmarked car. Splicer stayed there in his old safe house for another hour. He hated himself for what he did to himself and Jack, but he had no choice. His paw was tied, this was the best he could do, but he knew it wasn't a win for anyone but Evertech and that cocky badger. He had become a pet, Jack was now a tool, and Blaine was still a product.
The taste of his friend's cum still lingered in his mouth, he had tried washing it out in his sink over and over again, but no matter how many cups of water he had it never went away. It was like it was taunting him, reminding him of what he had done. He saw the message in his eyes that he wished would just go away.
Ready to come home puppy?
Splicer was pissed, he wanted to just bleed himself dry, get all the nanites he hated so much, from his body. He walked out the door to his safe house, wishing that he would just be erased like all signs of his existence had been from the world.
...
Another day, another scratch mark was added to the bottom of his table. Splicer went to sleep dreading the taunting face of the pink badger, he knew the Laguna had something up their sleeve for him.
Laguna woke him up in his crate, Splicer almost jumped back in surprise, Laguna rarely came into his room.
"Good morning, how's your first one as a puppy? Guess we'll have to get you a new tag now huh?"
"Same as any other day I suppose..." Splicer wasn't going to let the teasing get him down, he knew the badger was just trying to get him going and he wasn't taking the bait. "I don't care what the documents say, my name is and always will be Splicer."
"Whatever you say puppy..."
"What do you want anyways, it's about breakfast time for me, and I only eat with Aurich or alone."
"Well it's branding day puppy! We can celebrate it like a birthday, your petversary if you want!"
"Branding? The hell are you on about?" Splicer didn't like the predatory look the badger was giving him, and he hated the sound of being branded.
"Well all Evertech products and pets have to have the marking, haven't you ever seen it on Aurich? I suppose it does blend into his fur rather well... For you, I have a solution that'll make sure it's on full display for everyone!"
"I refuse."
"What? You literally can't do that."
"I can do whatever the hell I feel like."
"No... you can't. Actually, how long is it going to take for that point to be driven into your thick head?"
Laguna was astonished that even after signing his life away that the wolf was determined to have things his own way all the time. Maybe the branding was going to help the wolf come around, he was sure it would at least make some kind of point. Splicer walked over towards the food dispenser waiting for his breakfast options, when his entire body froze and he collapsed on the floor.
"Oh, come on... at least let me eat breakfast first, please?"
"A little better puppy, but can't risk you throwing up, so you can eat after we're done here, now are you going to behave?"
"Yes, I suppose I could..."
Splicer felt the hold on his body lessen and he was pulled over towards the table which was already laid with the supplies for the badger's job. There was a pair of clippers, a metal rod with a rose insignia and a metal vat that was sealed, but the outside was lined with frost. He gulped, understanding that the metal container was liquid nitrogen, he was about to be cold branded like cattle.
"Deep breaths puppy." Laguna had shaved off the fur just below his hip bone on his outer right thigh. The rod was sitting in the metal vat steam rising as the liquid inside hit air, turning to gas. Laguna pulled the rod out and inspected the blue coated insignia, he mixed a small portion of the blood he got from the wolf into the liquid which turned it a bright blue, He was hoping it would react with the skin and the nanites in the way he expected it to.
"Just, get it over with." Splicer was gripping the edge of his table and gritting his teeth as he felt the cold rod just barely off his bare skin. He felt the insignia make contact, it burnt in a way he never felt before. He didn't even have any sort of reference to compare it. The idea of being drenched in ice cold water and left naked in the north pole crossed his mind, but even that would be nothing compared to the excruciating pain running down his leg. He bared his fangs, a low growling rising in his throat, and despite it all, he still couldn't help but marvel at how oddly good it felt.
"Hush puppy, don't start growling now..." Splicer felt his growling cease before he replaced it with a low whining. It hurt so much he felt the table crack under his paw as he gripped harder, the wood splintering between his fingers. Laguna was licking his lips, his puppy was taking it well, usually the branding process was painless, but he had to admit, this felt much more intimate. He pulled the rod away from the wolf's skin, usually where there would be white scar tissue, was the expected blue tint he was looking for, he figured it'd make the fur grow back in the same colour blue as his blood.
"You know I could just tell my body to fix that and it would..." Splicer said, looking down at his new scar mark, in the shape of the company logo.
"Oh you have to know better than that puppy, after all, I control your nanites more than you do after all~"
Splicer hated his brand, he refused to let someone just mess with his body and fur like that, especially if it was to label him as some kind of product. He lept towards the badger, hoping to at least get a solid hit in. But his body froze up almost instantly.
"Well, first of all, bad puppy. Second of all, you're going to need to stop breaking your furniture if you ever plan to pay off your debt~" With that Laguna took his leave.
Splicer grumbled on the floor as the elevator door slid shut, he felt the control slowly return to his body and the light ding, telling him to hurry up and pick his food. Aurich preferred when his food was eaten fresh. Splicer made his choice, idly rubbing his thigh and watching in real time as more money was added to his total, he looked at his paw, then at the table. The entire corner he was gripping was gone, reduced to splinters on the floor of his room, his paw was undamaged though. His food was dispensed and he ate in silence, he was waiting to see Aurich to be able to vent about the awful last two days he had. He weighed the options in his mind, he'd rather spend three years being Vay and Orwell's personal whipping wolf than relive the last two days he had. But those were the cards he was delt, and Splicer still wasn't ready to fold despite seemingly being out of chips.
