RP W.I.P.

Story by Skal-Tel on SoFurry

This is the start of an RP between me and Lisbeth of Sofurry here. We both like to RP and decided on a, for now, Non-yiff RP. Whether or not it will eventually head that direction remains to be seen. She's had a Steampunk theme stuck in her head for quite some time now, so thats what we decided to do. Just think of the Bioshock videogame series and you'll have an idea what Steampunk is. 1984 style setting w/ futuristic shit and flying cars. Thats about it. xD

*All of this is entire off the top of our heads. None of it was preplanned aside from what the theme of the RP would be. All character, discriptions, plot twists etc are the product of spur-of-the-moment thinking. There will be typos and there will be gramatical mistakes, just keep that in mind so please, DO NOT include that in your comments please. *

Now, please enjoy the show, rate, comment, subscribe, all that jazz. I'm off to bed to have a good read. ^.=.^

"Shit!" she managed to yell as she looked over her shoulder to see three assailants on her tail and tried to run faster down the dark, damp alleyway. The three men were wearing helmets that covered their heads with black tinted visors, so she couldn't see who exactly they were. But there was no doubt that they were Cesare's men and that they had orders to capture her. Casting one last fearful glance over her shoulder, she turned back to what was going on in front of her. Seeing a huge, imposing wall of slick steel in front of her, she didn't falter a bit as her eyes scanned the obstacle in front of her and found a pathway. She tilted her head down and rushed towards the wall at full speed before jumping onto a nearby parked car. Using the top of the car as a sort of spring as it hovered over the air she sprung up into the air and, just barely, managed to grab the edge of a window that stuck out only about half an inch. She preferred the buildings on the older sides of the city, where the ledges were just a little bit longer, but it wasn't impossible to climb. Grinding her teeth, she heaved herself up as fast as she could and grabbed the top edge of the window, setting a sort of slow but fixed pace as she climbed higher. If only she hadn't been injured earlier, she could climb faster and perhaps lose her pursuers on the rooftops. But she'll have to improvise now as the bullet wound on her left shoulder stung in pain and began bleeding again. She thought about how everything had been going so well earlier. It was supposed to be a simple recon; get in, get out. If only she hadn't messed up.....

*Perched atop one of these many buildings sat a dark figure, his dark green scales and ivory maw spikes just barely visible in the moonlight. His dark brown trench coat hung loosely around him, further obscuring his body's outlines. Behind him was the slight rasp of scales rubbing against loose gravel; his tail swished back and forth apprehensively behind him. His eyes were shut in thought as he listened to the sounds around him, keeping his ear holes open for anything out of the ordinary. Most nights in this city were usually quite, at least over here in the upper class section of the town. It wasn't real fancy here, not like on the high side of town where all the rich folk lived. Here lived the more middle class folk; those with good, honest paying jobs and the "normal" life. Just about your average family side of town. Not much happened here, but every now and then something interesting would stir and catch the attention of this scaled individual. Such was the case tonight. On the catwalks below him he heard the sound of heavy thudding of boots, and labored breathing. His orange eyes opened and his head tilted down to peer below him toward the source of the noise. He watched silently as a figure passed beneath him, obviously frightened by the looks of her erratic movements. Adrenaline does that to the body. Not far behind her were three other figures in close pursuit. He sorted through several possibilities in his mind as he watched the spectacle, figuring that it would probably be within his best interest to save the individual that was being chased. It was, after all, easier to dispatch one foe rather than three. He stood, stretching his cramped muscles, then neatly vaulted down to the catwalk using his wings to slow him down. The reptile landed with barely a sound, shaking the structure just slightly. He hadn't given the three figures in front of him much time to stop. This was his plan. He lowered his shoulder and caught the first of the three on the stomach, knocking the wind out of him completely. He then used his foe's own momentum against him and vaulted him clean over the side of the catwalk. The second stopped short of the dragon and attempted to pull some sort of weapon concealed on his belt. The dragon acted more quickly though, pulling his own black scimitar from its sheath concealed in his coat. Its hungry blade was soon sated with the blood of its victim, who choked but for a moment before he too was sent over the side of the catwalk. The third assailant, having seen the demise of his friends, turned to run, but he didn't get far. The reptile reached to the other side of his hip, pulling out a silenced pistol. One shot was all he needed, and all he took. A slight Pfft emanated from the barrel of the weapon, followed by the thud of the third body.

The hyena had managed to climb to the top of the building as the fight ensued between the guards and this new stranger. Panting heavily, she dared to rest on the edge of the building as she clutched at her shoulder and watched the fight. It didn't take long until her eyebrows started rising in surprise. It was rare seeing someone who could fight like he could nowadays....unless they were guards. When the third body hit the catwalk, she saw the reptile start to turn to her direction and immediately the fur on the back of her neck stood up on its edges. Thinking it would be best if she disappeared before she ran into anymore trouble, she stumbled back up to her feet and slipped away from the edge, hoping he didn't see her as she ran across the rooftop.

*He watched as the individual turned and ran, disappearing along the rooftops. From the brief glimpse that he got of the figure, he could tell that this was a female that he was dealing with. He also noticed the silhouette of fur on her body. He still wasn't sure what species she was, but his curiosity was piqued enough about her for him to want to follow. He nonchalantly pulled a rag from his coat pocket and cleaned his blade, then placed it back into its leather sheath and holstered his pistol before giving chase. He did not think that it would be hard for him to find her. His eyes were slitted, much more accustomed to the night than hers were. He could see more detail, effectively giving him a sort of "night vision". The dragon lept cleanly off the side of the building, spreading his large green wings behind him. The warm updraft from the city "streets" below gave him a comfortable ride, one reason he liked flying in the city more than he did the country, though the city did not harbor the same beauty as the countryside did. He flew once around the building, looking per the hiding figure before continuing his search on the nearby buildings. It didn't take him long to find her however. He could see her a few buildings over, frantically and clumsily clambering from one building to the next. A spike of worry raced through his chest as he watched her almost miss a jump, nearly falling to her death. This made him hasten his pace toward her until he was right above her. Descending, the reptile landed some ways in front of her, giving her ample time to stop. He spoke quietly to her and in a friendly tone. He was curious about her and didn't want to scare her any more than she already was.* You can stop running now. You're assailants are dead. I'm of no threat to you, only curious as to why those men were chasing you. *He opened his coat and cautiously removed his weapon belt, tossing it to the side of him to show that he meant her no harm.*

After having a narrow escape from death, she dangled on the edge of the roof as she watched him cautiously, listening to what he had to say. She was not sure if she should truly trust him; after all, here was a species she had no knowledge about, with fighting skills she had never seen before....she frowned a little at him before glancing over the edge of the roof to scan the area. Cities like these were built in the skies now, above the clouds due to the population of Earth overtaking the landmass. As far down as she could see, there were few cars flying about at this time of night, more so since the company had shut down the district to capture her. Seeing as cars weren't an option, she looked around for someplace else to land and, unfortunately, could find nothing. She could take a chance. But what good would that do now. Wincing at the very little options she had, she turned her head back slowly to the reptile with a warning glare at him, "Why should I trust you, reptile? For all I know, you could be one of Cesare's men, with what I just saw back there...." she growled at him. Too many times has so called "heroes" have saved her, and then stabbed her in the back later. She didn't make any attempt to climb up to the flat, secure surface of the roof, but remained clinging to the edge of the building by the tips of her claws. Very small chance of landing on a car at the moment, but there was still a chance and she would take it if she had to.

Why should you trust me? Well, at the moment you don't seem to have much of a choice. You could either fall to your death, hoping that you might just land on a passing car, which is very unlikely without wings, or you could trust me for the time being and let me help you. *He quirked an eye ridge at the female. She had obviously been through a lot to be so willing to take her own life as she dared. He was beginning to gain a little bit of an understanding as to what was going on.* If I was one of this Cesare's men, and you seem to think that I am, why would he kill off his own men? Seems like a waste to me. *He stood there idly for a few seconds, then promptly, yet neatly, sat down on the roof. Any advancement toward her might cause her to become frightened and cause her to let go, and that was not what he wanted at the moment.* No, I am not one of this Cesare's men. I am simply a drifter that has happened upon your unfortunate path, and, unlike many that call this city home, I actually have a sense of morals. Where most would have simply looked away I risked my scale and blood to save someone that I knew nothing about. For this I think you should be grateful. The enemy of your enemy is your friend after all. *He leaned forward, propping up his maw with a balled fish, his elbow resting on his right knee.* Now you have a choice: Trust me and let me help you, or you can simply stay there. Which will it be?

"'Sacrifice is necessary to achieve greatness', ever heard of that? Or....well, something close to it," she shrugged and sighed heavily. Her left arm was starting to become numb and cold, a very bad sign. That bullet needed to come out now or she'll risk losing that arm completely. Or get crush syndrome. She took another glance down at the cars and was disappointed to see only one pass under her, unfortunately too fast for her to be able to land on. There were other cars down below, but....she had a distinct feeling she wouldn't make it down that far without turning into a huge mess of guts and blood all over the place. She turned back to the reptile and groaned helplessly, "Mmm........fine...." she muttered quietly and shot a warning glance at him, "One wrong move....and I toss you over the rooftop with a bullet to your head," she growled low before attempting to scramble up over the edge herself, her hind claws desperately trying to dig into the sleek metal the buildings had to offer with no luck. With her left arm useless, she really did have no choice but to trust him, "Fuck my life...." she thought silently.....

A wise choice if I do say so myself. *he said with a smile, his small, pointed teeth reflecting dully in the dim light. He quickly got to his feet and padded over to the helpless female, his steps almost silent. The only audible noises were the crunching of gravel under his feet and his tail sliding along behind him.* By the way, the name's Skal-Tel, or Skal for short. *When he reached her, he didn't bend down to grab her wrists, instead he simply walked off the side of the building with a small hop and flew up behind her, stuck a hand under each of her armpits, and lifted her up and onto the rooftop. He set her down gently, then landed neatly beside her. Folding his wings to his back, he extended a hand to her, to her good arm, as he continued his introduction.* I'm a mercenary for hire, or a drifter. I go wherever my work takes me. You just happened to be lucky enough that one of my recent contracts had me in this city. Now, I see that you have a bit of a nasty wound there to your shoulder. I noticed it earlier when you were leaping about. They way you babied it. How exactly did you get shot now? *He might not havebeen a doctor, but he wasn't stupid. He had seen his fair share of wounds in his day and knew more or less what he was looking at.*

"I got shot from behind. Some idiot guard, I don't know which one, decided he wanted to have some fun with bullets," she muttered as she clutched at her arm in pain and, now that she wasn't running anymore, took a closer look at the wound. Or at least as close as she could get considering her angle, "Fuck.....looks like it hit the subclavian artery...." she said quietly and winced a little as she pulled the bullet wound a little to open it, "Though I guess it didn't hit it very well.....I haven't passed out yet, but...." she shook her head slightly, starting to feel a little dizzy as the adrenaline had stopped being produced. Now her whole body was aching and she was feeling weak and tired. In curiosity, she raised her good paw up to her neck and placed two digits there to feel her pulse. It was rather weak and slow. If she didn't get help now, there was a high chance she won't make it to her house in time. In desperation, she turned cautiously to the dragon hybrid standing next to her, "Is there....someplace nearby where we can hide? And do you know how to fix a bullet wound?"

*As her adrenaline began to wear off he could see just how tired and weak she had become. Though she didn't realize it, her body was shaking as if she was shivering from the cold. He reached forward cautiously and felt the tip of her nose. It was warming which meant that she wasn't doing that well at all.* I hope that you're not that attached to that hoodie of yours, because I'm going to have to cut that sleeve off to have better access to your shoulder. I'll buy you a new one I promise. *He tried to lighten the mood with that small joke, but knew that it wouldn't do much.* I do know very rudimentary medicine, but, luckily for you I have just the doctor in mind. In the mean time here... *He reached into one of the many pockets that lined the inside of his coat and pulled out a small syringe and showed it to her.* Now, inside this syringe here is a shot of adrenaline. This will keep you alive long enough for me to get you to the doctors and get that bullet out of you. *The reptile looked her square in the eyes, his own orange eyes trying to convey the urgency of the matter to her. Now was not a time for her to not trust him.*

"Fuck, I am a doctor....I just can't see the bullet," she growled low and tried desperately to keep her eyes open and to pay attention to what he was saying, "Look, I don't have time to get to this doctor of yours, I was supposed to have collapsed by now with all the blood that's gone...." she said quietly and stared back at him, "And the fuck I'm letting you inject me with that stuff. One, already addicted to that shit as it is. Two, how do I know it's not a sedative?" she raised an eyebrow at him. It was clear she wasn't going to let him give her the adrenaline, whether it would cost her her life or not, "Now, as I was saying, we don't have time for you to drag me all the way across the city. That bullet needs to get out now and the artery sewn together. Look, the supplies are already in my pockets, just grab what I tell you and do as I say, okay? We can worry about a blood transfusion later...." as she said quietly, she felt another wave of dizziness overwhelm her and she slumped to the ground, "Grr.....if you want to help me, just do it already. I'm not passing out on--" she abruptly stopped as she finally fell unconscious and fell onto the ground at Skal's feet.

_Girl's got some spunk. Going to get her killed one of these days though. _He thought to himself as he stuck her arm with the syringe that he had been twirling in his hands as she spoke. He could do little to stop the bleeding. He didn't have the necessary "equipment" with him. He took a roll of bandage from her pocket and tied it tight around her arm where the entry wound was. Pressure was about all he could do for her until he got her to his friend's clinic over in the slums. For where it was located it was a fairly clean and high-tech facility. He guessed that with the trouble that she had run into in this part of town that getting her treated away from here would be her best bet. Swiftly but gently he picked her up in his arms and lept off the side of the building in a mad flight to the clinic just a few minutes flight away.* _Silly ground-walkers always forget just how fast flying is. _*He smirked to himself as he flew on, the lights of the facility already coming into view.
