Adrian

Age 21

Furs and humans alike packed themselves into the club as heavy bass music blasted into their ears, and lights of red, blue, and green burned into their retinas. Through all of the chaos, two furs garnered everyone's attention at some point throughout the night. One of the furs was a tall and thin red fox. His fur was thick and rich in its color, and to anyone who didn't look hard enough, he could have passed as a girl. His hair had grown down his back, and his muscles were lean and long. He wore a racerback tank-top that revealed a marking resembling a six on his right shoulder blade. The fox kept his emerald green eyes closed most of the time as he danced, seemingly ignoring everyone else in the room except for his dance partner.

His partner of course, being the other fur at the center of everyone's attention. This fur was a wolf. He was taller and more muscular than his counterpart. With ice blue eyes and white fur with blue fur on his back and part of his muzzle. He had taken off his shirt and danced only in his loose fitting blue jeans. Other patrons of the club tried to either join the two dancing, or steal one of them away from the other, but neither was allowing them to succeed. The two were only interested in each other.

As the music continued to embed itself into everyone's head, the wolf began whispering into the fox's ear. The fox could be seen giggling and biting his lower lip. The wolf bent his head down and clamped his teeth onto the fox's neck. The fox responding by lying back into the wolf and letting his whole body go limp. Leaving it to the wolf to support him and keep him standing.

Around one o'clock in the morning, the pair fell out of the club laughing at each other and lightly rubbing one another. As the two toyed with each other, the wolf noticed someone else with them, watching them from a safe distance. "Hey there, you want a show or something?" The wolf's voice was deep and rough, perfect for commanding attention from a large crowd.

The fox looked back to see who his partner was talking to. The figure was wearing an old worn down lab coat with multiple stains and rips on it. He could tell that the figure was a fox, but not a very well kept one. The other fox's fur was matted and missing in multiple places, and he looked sickly and worn down with age. Somehow, this other fox felt familiar to the younger fox, but he couldn't remember.

That is, until this older fox spoke.

"My precious little girl," The moment the older fox spoke in his sickly voice, a nerve was struck within the younger fox. His body froze and every last muscle in his body either gave up or tensed. He couldn't breathe; his lungs wouldn't allow it. He felt like running, but it wouldn't happen, no matter how much he wanted.

"What are you doing coming out of a place like that? My precious little girl would never associate with people who go to those kinds of places. I raised her better than that. Now come on Bridgette. I've come a long way to find you. Now, let's go home." The older fox began walking towards the fox and wolf. The wolf stood in front of his companion, blocking him from the view of the older fox.

"Back off you freak. You got Adrian mixed up with someone else. I know he may look like a girl, but trust me, he isn't. Now go away and leave us alone. You are scaring him." The wolf bared his fangs when he realized the fox wasn't listening to him, hoping to intimidate the fox. It wasn't working. The fox just kept walking towards them.

"And just who do you think you are touching my daughter the way you were. Now you seek to keep her away from her own father. Just who are you?" The fox walked slowly, almost drunkenly; placing all of his weight on one foot or the other, never both.

"I'm Ulric. Adrian's boyfriend and sorry but you are not his father! Now leave!" Ulric started growling and showing his claws, but still the fox wouldn't stop.

"Boyfriend? Bridgette, come on now. You could do so much better than this mutt. I could find you a nice fox boy. But I definitely do not approve of this rubbish, and a daughter must only date boys her father approves of."

"Get away from me Solomon!" Adrian managed to scream. The fox finally stopped his progression towards Ulric and Adrian, roughly five feet away.

"Wait. You actually know this creep Adrian?" Ulric turned his head around to speak to his boyfriend.

"Yeah. He was the adopted father I ran away from," Adrian stared down Solomon with intense hate in his eyes.

"What?! So this is that sicko that molested you? Isn't it? That's it. You're dead you fuck!" Ulric balled up his fists and was about to slam into Solomon until Solomon spoke once again.

"Adoption? Is that what you are telling everyone Adrian? That's a pretty good story. But, it doesn't change anything. You are coming back with me. Unless you want your little friend here to end up like Margareta?" Solomon's demeanor had changed completely from sickly and unstable into unwavering and confident.

"What? Margareta? What did you do to her?!" Adrian was sent into a frenzy at the thought of what had happened to the one who had freed him from the laboratory all those years ago.

"You really want to know? Well here you go." Solomon pulled a Polaroid photograph from his lab coat and placed it on the ground, sliding it to Adrian.

As Adrian picked up the picture he saw what had happened to his old friend. Her body was mutilated beyond reason; the only hint that it was her was her face, which was left unscratched. The rest of her body, destroyed. Limbs were torn off, cuts were found all over her body, bruises, burns, tears, Adrian couldn't handle the information his brain was receiving.

He broke down. Adrian collapsed onto the ground in tears. His body shook with terror and trauma. "Ulric!" Adrian's voice shrieked with anger. "Kill that bastard! I want him dead!"

Ulric looked down at his fallen boyfriend. He had never seen Adrian this emotional before, or this broken. He didn't understand what was going on, but ever since he and the fox had met back when they were both 14, he knew he had to protect the little fox. It was a primal instinct inside of him, and that was all he needed to obey Adrian's request. "You got it."

Ulric rushed at Solomon, crashing into him and sending Solomon to the ground. The wolf mounted the deranged fox, grabbing onto his head and smashing his head onto the concrete of the pavement. Ulric could feel the force he was putting behind the blows, but he wasn't seeing any blood, or even seeing any wounds forming. After trying a few more slams into the pavement, Ulric stopped his assault and moved off of Solomon. Looking down at the fox, Ulric was frustrated and confused by the fact that nothing he had down had any effect on the creature.

"Are you done throwing your little tantrum?" Solomon mocked. Adrian raised his head to see what had happened, and after seeing that no harm had befallen Solomon, Adrian was filled with new emotions of understanding and fear.

"Ulric! Get away from him! He's dangerous!" A few seconds passed before the information processed for Ulric, but when it did, he was quick to rush back over to his boyfriend and help support him as he stood.

"That's right I am." Solomon chuckled and he stood. Raising his left hand he revealed a marking on his palm. It was similar to the marking Adrian had on his own back, but instead of the number six being portrayed, it was the number seven.

"That isn't him. Solomon never had that marking." Adrian attempted to explain.

"What? How? He knows you." Ulric was cut off from his rambling by Solomon.

"I am very much Solomon my precious little girl. I have all of his memories, I have his physical form, sure I might have a few new additions, but in the end, none of that matters. I am Alexandros Solomon, and I will have you back Bridgette, and when I do have you, I will correct all the errors I made in you." Adrian and Ulric yelled as thousands and thousands of flies assaulted them. The tiny insects didn't seem to have any motivation other than to overwhelm the duo. They never once landed on either of them, and from what Adrian could see from passing glances, they weren't attacking Solomon either.

The flies dispersed shortly after their initial assault. Ulric and Adrian turned around in every direction looking to find where the flies had come from or where they went. But, they noticed something else. Solomon had vanished.

"Where did he go?" Ulric thought out loud.

"I don't know. But I was right. That wasn't Solomon. Solomon's real name was Alastair, not Alexandros. He messed up."

"Messed up? Adrian, what is going on?" Ulric walked up to his boyfriend and clutched him by the shoulders. Not in an aggressive way, but enough to get Adrian to look at him and know he wanted answers.

"Ulric, I don't want to talk about it now. I'm worn out. Let's just go home ok? I'll explain everything tomorrow."Ulric silently agreed.

Adrian and Ulric lived in a loft on the east side of Vapaus that Adrian had inherited from Tanya, a Raccoon that Margareta had entrusted to take care of Adrian when he escaped from Solomon eight years ago. She had home schooled Adrian and made sure that he had enough money to live off of after she passed away. A fate brought on early by cancer.

Adrian had already showered and finished off a late night meal when Ulric finished his own shower. Adrian looked up to see his long time wolf lover standing in the doorway between the bedroom and the living room, standing in only a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Ulric?"

"Yeah?"

"Nothing. Just a little freaked out I guess." Adrian managed to let out a little fake laugh.

"I understand." Ulric walked over to Adrian and picked him up off the couch he was sitting on, and pulling him into the bedroom. Ulric sat down on the foot of the bed and pulled Adrian onto his lap. Ulric began nipping at Adrian's collar bone and neck. Adrian let out soft murrs of approval. Ulric moved his hand down to Adrian's pants in an attempt to unbutton them.

"Ulric. No. I'm sorry, but not tonight." Adrian grabbed Ulric's hand and pulled it towards his chest. He looked into Ulric's eyes, knowing that the wolf just wanted to relax his companion. "I'm sorry." Adrian said before he kissed his lover.

"It's fine. I understand." Ulric said as they broke the kiss. He smiled at his fox and Adrian smiled back. A sheepish smile, but he knew it would make the wolf happy to see him smile, so he did it anyways. "Come on, let's go to bed." Ulric pulled Adrian down on top of him as he leaned back onto the bed.

That night, Adrian was constantly woken up by nightmares of Solomon hunting him down, of witnessing the murder of Margareta and/or Ulric, and more nightmares of the days when he was younger and Solomon would molest him while referring to him as his daughter. Most of the times when he would awake from one of these terrors, Ulric would be right there, ready to console him and hold him, but there was one distinct time where he wasn't awake to care for the fox.

Ulric turned over to see the wolf sprawled out, on his side of the bed. The towel he had worn to bed finally had been removed in a lazy fit of sleep. Adrian gazed at the naked wolf humorously. The wolf would kick occasionally in his sleep and make faces as if he was trying to intimidate something. Adrian also noticed that his partner was erect and couldn't help but laugh to himself. "Even when he sleeps. Silly boy." Adrian thought to himself. He leaned over the wolf and kissed him softly on the lips.

Adrian looked over his shoulder to the door of the bedroom. Lifting up one of his arms, Adrian flicked his hand as if he was gesturing for someone to come toward him. As he made this gesture the door to the bedroom closed of its own accord. Adrian then looked over to the bathroom and made the same gesture, which had the same effect on the bathroom door. Finally, Adrian turned to the window that made up the entire wall of the west side of the room. This time, he moved his hand as if turning off a light switch, and all of the blinds closed by themselves.

Adrian laid back down next to the wolf in an attempt to go back to sleep. He felt Ulric shifting in the bed, and then felt a warm embrace as he opened his eyes to see Ulric holding him.

"You used your powers again." The wolf said sleepily.

"Yeah... and?" Adrian said childishly.

"Nothing. I love you." Ulric tightened his hold around Adrian.

"I love you too. Now go back to sleep." Adrian buried his face into Ulric's chest as they both fell asleep one last time for that night.
