_"What do you know, it's Maris!"
BWAHAAHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAAH!_
Blink.
My ears flattened reflexively at the sound of the atrocious canned laughter, and I blinked again.
It was there.
Frown.
Could it be happening?
I grabbed the edge of the desk and leaned forward, my tail looping quickly behind me while I squinted and stared at the small message box on the corner of the screen. It was still there, the words, the blinking text, the call, the name, the mug shot picture of the Dobie, the greeting, the arch word, the eponym, the promise, the dream, the fantasy, the the...
_ Victor Holden says: Hi there ;)_
I buried my muzzle in my paws and peeped between slightly splayed fingertips to see what was going on at the computer screen.
_ Victor Holden says: Hi there ;)_
Oh shit...
It was still there, staring at me, the tiny picture of a Dobie and the all too cheerful greeting coming from Victor, the Dobie whom I would have never expected to use smileys even in a casual online conversation. More importantly, I could hardly even believe it was happening.
Victor was here!
Well, kinda, I know, virtually, but that was better than no mysterious Dobie at all, for he was here, while I was here, too. We shared this space, this...virtual realm of communication, while Victor was somewhere out there, and I was here...
And I was sitting naked in front of my computer, all my goodies happily on display for Victor who of course could not see my current state, but nonetheless, my tail quickly coiled around my lap to give me a sense of modesty while I stared at the laptop screen. Victor was still there, watching, waiting, properly perched in front of his own computer just the way I was, without the naked bits on the show, maybe...
...or maybe he was doing naked web surfing and had gone to check Facebook to have a little bit of a cooling off time between more naughty activities online...
My sheath gave a compassionate twitch at the idea of a naked Victor wearing his specs and browsing FreeRangeRumps and letting his paw go up and down on his pre and lube-slathered doggie cock of impressive proportions just while his tail would wag behind him excitedly.
My sheath filled some more at the wandering dirty idea, and it almost seemed like I might have to make that scenario a personal reality with my own trusty paws giving some much needed service for my still slightly achy balls, but sense prevailed...just for a little moment more.
Victor was still there.
Just how long could I keep him waiting, anyway? Maybe he'd just sit there for a couple of minutes and then simply give up, thinking that I wasn't around. Maybe I had gone to bed and left my computer running with Facebook still open. Perhaps he'd leave me a note, or think that I had gone away thinking that it wasn't worth it to stay up to talk with him. Maybe he'd never try to contact me again...or maybe my mailbox would be flooded with Victor messages in the morning, asking why I wasn't around when he wanted me to be around, when he thought I was around.
My eyes felt like they might be going around soon while I stared intently on the little message box, wondering.
_ Victor Holden says: Hi there ;)_
Agghhhhh...
I brought my paws up to the keyboard and typed quickly
_ Rory Gliese says: Hi! _
I hit the Enter key and saw my words and my little picture appear into the mysterious box, joining to Victor's earlier greeting. Now it was his turn again...if he wanted to.
BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAAHAHA!
Victor Holden says: Wow that was fast!
Wow!
It felt like I was stuck in some kind of bullet time without any cool wire stunts as I stared at the screen and the small dialogue being displayed there, Victor's and mine, ours words, our pictures, our greetings. My paws clenched almost painfully on the edges of the desk while I blinked and yawned and jittered and smiled. I had found the Dobie after such a long time and so many misadventures that the greeting was almost anticlimactic...but still, it was real and it was happening. We had a line, a way of communication, and a connection.
I smiled my best Rory smile and typed again.
_ Rory Gliese says: Heh. Hello. _
I gave myself a lame slap on the back of my mind as soon as I saw myself saying that on screen. It sounded ridiculous. Heh. Hello. Heh. Fuck.
_ Victor Holden says: G'night to you too ;) How're you?_
Now that was cute.
_ Rory Gliese says: Thanks, I'm good, how are you doing?_
_ Victor Holden says: I'm gr8, thanks, watching Frasier :)_
My ears flicked each in turn as I shook my head in disbelief.
_ Rory Gliese says: I was kinda watching that too before you came around.
Victor Holden says: Hahah!
Rory Gliese says: Yeah. _
_ Victor Holden says: You a fan?_
I snuffled and typed quickly.
_ Rory Gliese says: Not really. Just one of those times when you don't wanna go to bed but still too awake but also too lazy to do anything else.
Victor Holden says: Hah, same. Just came from the shower and kinda dropped down here with the tv and the comp.
Rory Gliese says: Pretty much same.
Victor Holden says: And gotta work tomorrow too of course.
Rory Gliese says: Of course!
Victor Holden says: Good old 8 till 4 eh?
Rory Gliese says: Yeah, me too._
Now was this proceeding smoothly or not?
_ Victor Holden says: What do you do anyway? I don't think we talked about that back there._
I couldn't help but chuckle at Victor's word choice, and my ears were flicking happily too, even as my fingertips and clawtips thrummed against the worn surface of the desk while I contemplated how to describe my no-brainer of a job.
_ Rory Gliese says: Retail, heheh. _
Victor Holden says: Hah, you some kind of shop assistant? Can I get this in mauve?
I snuffled at the Dobie's terrible humour and began my counter-attack.
_ Rory Gliese says: Book retail, actually, on the main street.
Victor Holden says: Wow!
Rory Gliese says: It's not as grand as it sounds.
Victor Holden says: Still pretty nice. At least you're not selling ladies' pawbags or something like that ;)_
_ Rory Gliese says: Haha, you thought I was swish enough for that?_
Well, my tail was very much swishy enough, but I didn't have the colour intelligence needed for it, seriously, I swear! Nor a fashion sense. My beret and my accessory eyeglasses and beauty mottles from college were more than enough proof of that thank you.
_ Victor Holden says: Nah, not really ;)
Rory Gliese says: Think you're watched too much television.
Victor Holden says: I'm a dumb Dobie, what else can I do?_
Hahah.
_ ** Rory Gliese** says: Some hockey, maybe?
Victor Holden says: Gotcha! Had a really good game last Tuesday! Won 4-2!
Rory Gliese says: Wow!
Victor Holden says: Logistics won ;)_
My brow perked as I read Victor's comment curiously.
_ Rory Gliese says: Oh?
Victor Holden says: Yeah, my department, logistics. Keeping stuff going off to the world when it's meant to be, that's what I do.
Rory Gliese says: Sounds like an interesting job, yeah! You been doing that for long.
Victor Holden says: Bout six years, I think._
I could imagine the Dobie scratching his neck while he contemplated a suitable answer for me, running the numbers through his head. I was pretty sure that Victor was good with numbers. And hockey sticks. And lying face down on the bed while...
_ Rory Gliese says: Survived the fall, yeah?
Victor Holden says: Pretty much, yeah, glad to have the job alright.
Rory Gliese says: True that._
I rubbed my chin and wondered what to say next. It seemed that we had entered a kind of a lull after only a few minutes of conversation. Well, at least we had figured out who did what job, something we hadn't really managed back when we first met. Back there...
_ Victor Holden says: Hey, gotta say I was a bit surprised you looked me up y'know, with all this time 'n all._
Damn...now came the stalker part, it seemed.
_ Rory Gliese says: Just thought about it and thought I'd give it a shot._
That ought to sound neutral enough, I supposed...or at least I hoped so.
_ Victor Holden says: Well, yeah, I've been thinking about it a bit, too._
My tailtip batted against the chair legs while I wondered on what to think about Victor thinking about me. I bet he hadn't been thinking about me as much as I had been going on and on and on about the one night Dobie.
_ Rory Gliese says: It was pretty good time.
Victor Holden says: Sure was = )_
The fact that the Dobie used smilies was becoming more and more adorable by the moment as our conversation progressed. I scratched my thigh and wondered on what exactly to say next. It seemed that Victor was in good spirits, and had also put some thought to our encounter, and maybe...I don't know, maybe.
_ Rory Gliese says: Thanks for the message, too. Really made me smile.
Victor Holden says: Heheh, I was hoping that. And sorry about it, too.
Rory Gliese says: Oh? Why?_
_ Victor Holden says: Well, it was just...I don't know...you were going about and the phone was there and...kind of a spur of the moment thing, eh?
Rory Gliese says: Nothing wrong about that.
Victor Holden says: Just not something I would usually do. Kinda pointless too, eh? Not even leaving with a number or something.
Rory Gliese says: It was fine!_
I really wanted to be encouraging as much as I could, or so I hoped that I did at least try to sound like that. I hoped.
_ Victor Holden says: Glad it made you smile. I kinda wished I'd left my number in or something, y'know.
Rory Gliese says: Oh?
Victor Holden says: Well, we had nice time, I mean...well, nice time. Good times. Might've been polite to ask about meeting again, maybe._
I frowned softly as I looked at the seemingly indecisive musings coming from the Dobie. Was he unsure whether he wanted to meet up again? Did he want to? Didn't he want to? Did he want to but didn't think it was a good idea? I really wished we'd been eye to eye at the moment, to know how he looked like when he typed.
_ Rory Gliese says: You could've maybe just gimme your email or something.
Victor Holden says: Yeah...yeah, I guess. Suppose we were a bit drunk too and didn't sleep much and all that so guess I kinda forgot...sorry.
Rory Gliese says: No worries :)_
See! I could use smileys too!
_ Victor Holden says: Yeah...well... still glad you took the effort. Big smiley face!_
Hahahahah!
_ Rory Gliese says: Well, took me long enough, right?
Victor Holden says: At least you know you wanted to, right?
Rory Gliese says: Well, yeah, now that's true...yeah. Was hard enough too.
Victor Holden says: Oh really? Had to think whether to take the plunge?_
I chuckled and wondered whether to tell him the full extent of my misadventures in Victor-searching.
_ Rory Gliese says: Kinda had to figure out how to use Facebook...
Victor Holden says: Hah!
Rory Gliese says: Yeah, talk about it!
Victor Holden says: Did you like try the phone books first?_
I snuffled and rubbed my nose hard enough to cause my whiskers to wobble with my snuffle.
_ Rory Gliese says: More like the Ramrod._
I sighed.
_ Victor Holden says: You went to look at me at the bar?
Rory Gliese says: Umm..yes. _
He must've been shaking with laughter already, poised in front of his computer. For some reason my mental image of Victor included him wearing sweatpants and a white collared shirt, and his signature mug shot specs. That bulge was huge!
_ Victor Holden says: Heheh, I haven't been thee since y'know, so sorry for letting you down. I chuckled a little and typed a little bit, too.
Rory Gliese says: It was pretty interesting time, though. No Victor but otherwise...meh.
Victor Holden says: Oh oh oh! Go on!_
I flicked my pretty lion ears and set to work.
_ Rory Gliese says: Well, they were playing retro disco and it looked like someone was practically giving a bj to someone at one of the booths. That's for starters when I went in there.
Victor Holden says: Seen worse : )
Rory Gliese says: Heh. Well, I got a drink and wondered if you might show up and spent rest of the night batting of furs trying to hit on me.
Victor Holden says: You're a cock magnet ;)_
My cock pulsed pleasantly at being reminded of its existence, and I really had to resist the urge to grab that fuzzy sheath and give it a few, nice tugs to show it who was the boss here.
_ Rory Gliese says: Heheh.
Victor Holden says: So what happened with the guys? Anyone actually good looking or nice or something?_
I really wanted to tell him that none of them were as interesting as Victor had ended up being, but I decided to keep holding onto that sentiment and speak something less...curious instead.
_ Rory Gliese says: Well, there was this bear kind of a type who came on pretty hard, and then the bartender chatted to me for a while, too.
Victor Holden says: That otter, right? I remember an otter bartender.
Rory Glies e says: Yeah, it's the one with the piercing.
Victor Holden says: Ahh, that one, yeah! Can't mistake that one, not really. He's okay I think.
Rory Gliese says: Yeah, pretty ok.
Victor Holden says: Sounds like you didn't really get to have any REALLY good times though?_
The imagined Victor in my mindspace winked and I flicked an ear the imaginary Dobie, despite it being certifiably silly a thing to do while sitting naked in front of a computer and chatting with the mysterious character of my misadventures and secret thoughts.
_ Rory Gliese says: If you mean, whether I got lucky, nah._
My tailbase reminded me that I had gotten lucky alright, but that wasn't something I really needed to go into to have this conversation.
_ Victor Holden says: Shame that.
Rory Gliese says: Hahah.
Victor Holden says: Gotta say I really liked the times with you, though, Rory. Mind I call you Rory?
Rory Gliese says: Not at all, please, go on.
Victor Holden says: Nice! Well, yeah, I had really nice time, thanks for that.
Rory Gliese says: Did I complain? _
I smiled wryly and rubbed my chin as I wondered what Victor might have in mind.
_ Victor Holden says: So, yeah, so you don't really hang out in that kind of places?
Rory Gliese says: I don't really go out picking up tricks, no.
Victor Holden says: I see.
Rory Gliese says: Can't say I didn' like the last time, though. _
Hell yeah.
_ Victor Holden says: Well it was good times, and like I said, I wouldn't mind maybe seeing again, you know?_
Ohhhh....
My tail made a happy number eight behind me despite any lingering protests, and I smirked and chuckled and shook my head and felt oddly coy and physical all sudden at the prospect of a genuine Dobie date...well, could I call it a date? Maybe he'd invite me over somewhere and we'd just go back to his place and pound each other's brains out. Or maybe he wanted to go out to the Ramrod for a drink, or maybe he wanted to dance,...was he into dancing?
I realized that I had an acute deficit of knowledge regarding Victor Holden, and I knew that I wanted to correct that error, too.
_ Rory Gliese says: Like a date?_
There it was, I decided once I let it pass into cyberspace, the challenge was in. This would tell me what the Dobie was after, whether it was a pantless tussle or a comfortable date. Getting to know each other a little. Size each other up. See if we had things to speak to each other, and things to do together beyond having sex. Wasn't that what dating and relationships was about? Sure, fuck buddies might be a good idea for a while, but that definitely wasn't all that a relationship could offer. And why was I talking about a relationship anyway? I was only considering a...a meeting, yes, a coffee, maybe, just maybe. If Victor was up to it.
_ Victor Holden says: Yeah, maybe, if you want to. I mean, I wasn't like..y'know, heh._
I snuffled and gave him a dose of his own medicine.
_ Rory Gliese says: You want to say that you didn't mean to simply ask if we could fuck again? _
I watched the small convo tree and wondered whether I had been too cheeky with my answer, before Victor replied.
_ Victor Holden says: Couldn't have put it better, Rory ;)_
Again he was smiley-winking at me, that cheeky Dobie!
_ Rory Gliese says: Why, thanks. I guess._
_ Victor Holden says: Well, to be honest, It'd be a bit weird to just say "could we fuck again?", so maybe you'd want to do something sometimes in the future, maybe? Movie or food or whatever you're into. No pressure eh?_
I contemplated my next move with curiously flicking ears, staring at the computer screen. Now he was really asking me out, already trying to coming up with fun ideas that didn't involve KY lube and Ursoplus Catnips and mating bites and heavy doggie-style rutting.
_ Rory Gliese says: If you want to go out with me, just ask me._
I almost put in a smiley, but didn't.
_ Victor Holden says: Yeah, sure! I'm asking!_
I'm glad he didn't put a smiley back there.
_ Rory Gliese says: Well, impress me!
Victor Holden says: Hahahahah!_
I laughed, too, I did.
_ Victor Holden says: Well how about I take you out next week then?_
