Doctor Who and the Gift of Anubis Pt. 4
Doctor Who And The Gift Of Anubis
Part 4
Doctor who is © BBC Matthias is © me.
The Dalek ships hovered in the air around the palace, the cold war cry "EXTERMINATE" echoing throughout the warm night air. The Doctor's face became one of anger and dread, his eyes filled with fire and hatred.
"What in Anubis' name?!" Anubia cried.
"Daleks. This is what I warned you about." The Doctor said.
Two dalek fighters positioned themselves outside the main building where the transformed people were held. The two ships opened fire on the building, the roof collapsing and erupting in flames. Screams and cries could be heard form the burning building.
"BY THE GODS NOOOOOOOOO!" Anubia cried. She tried to rush to the building, but the Doctor and Matthias held her back.
"No your majesty! You'll die too!" Matthias yelled, trying to restrain her.
"I have to help them! Damn you LET ME GO!" She sobbed in anguish.
The Doctor grabbed her with some force and pulled her to him. She cried into his chest, screaming 'no' every few seconds. The Doctor and Matthias cried along with her, the flames reflecting in their old eyes. Matthias looked at the Doctor, and the Doctor exchanged the look. They nodded to each other. The Doctor led Anubia inside his Tardis, while Matthias prepped his for takeoff. The White Tardis' doors shut after the Doctor's Tardis materialized inside. With a whoosh, the white Tardis was gone.
"We can't just leave. Doctor...please..." Anubia cried.
"I'm sorry. We can't do anything as long as the Daleks hold the palace." The Doctor said.
Matthias was leaning against the console across from the Doctor. He was shaking with anger and sorrow.
"Matt?" The Doc said.
"Every time...every damn time...they show up when you least expect them or when you don't want them..." he shouted, "I AM SO SICK OF DEALING WITH THOSE OVERGROWN SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS!!!!"
The Doctor and Anubia jumped back at Matthias' sudden outburst. Matthias' glowed with Golden light, his tails aflame with pure time energy.
"MATTI! CALM DOWN" a voice called.
A golden Wolf jumped out of the elevator shaft and pinned Matthias down onto the floor.
"Tardis?! Get the hell off of me!!!" Matthias warned and tried to get up.
The wolf bit him on the snout and Snarled loudly at him.
"NO!! You calm down first! The last time you got that angry you destroyed a continent on Gallifrey without meaning too!" The wolf whined, "Please, I don't want you to hurt yourself!"
The wolf buried her muzzle in his chest. She cried a little, snapping Matthias back to reality.
"Oh girl I'm sorry! Shh...don't cry..." he said then held her and petted her.
"What in the hell is she? Did you say Tardis?!" The Doctor said.
Matthias gets up with the wolf in his arms. He smiles at the Doctor and walks over to the console. He sits the wolf there and kisses her nose, calming her down.
"You heard me right. This is my Tardis' Holographic Avatar Recon Projection. My wife perfected the program shortly before Gallifrey was destroyed. She figured a Tardis could do much more good if it went with its master." Matthias said, then scratched Tardis' ear.
"How many were put into use?" Anubia said, looking at the wolf.
"Just her." He said, gesturing to the animal, "My wife was killed...the day after she installed the program. Her and my daughter."
"I heard. I'm sorry." The Doctor said.
"That bastard Sorvad was the one who did it. So this is a bit of a personal vendetta." Matthias said with closed eyes.
The Doctor walked to the elevator shaft and peered into the dark. Anubia was busy petting the wolf.
"Do you plan to kill him?" The doctor said loudly.
"The thought had crossed my mind YES!" Matthias shot back.
Anubia and the wolf jumped at the sudden outburst.
"I am not you Doctor. I don't have the luxury of sentiments. I was unable to protect my family on Gallifrey. It was my job to eliminate him on Gallifrey, and this is my chance to finish the job. I will not fail this time!" Matthias growled.
"Revenge won't bring your family back Matt! When you kill him you'll see his face in all your foes. And soon you won't be able to tell the difference between friend or enemy!" The Doctor shouted.
"HE DESERVES TO DIE!" Matthias cried.
His voice echoed throughout the hall, Anubia and the golden wolf backed against the wall in fear.
The Doctor stepped forward and threw his jacket against the wall. His face was twisted in anger.
"Many people don't deserve live, I won't argue with you there. But that doesn't mean you have any right to be a righteous reaper and take that life from them! If you believe that you can play god, then I'll have to stop you too!" The Doctor said quietly.
"Don't you dare challenge me, Threefold man. You know very well what I can do." Matthias growled.
"ENOUUUUUUUUUGGGGH!!!" The wolf howled.
The doctor and Matthias covered their ears at the high pitched howl. They both then turned to look at the now growling and snarling wolf.
"I have had ENOUGH of this petty bickering between you two! You BOTH have lost family to those dalek freaks, and this is not the time for you two to become enemies." She said.
The doctor just stood across from Matthias in silence. The two time lords just stared at each other. No words, no sounds. Not even breathing. Anubia finally broke the silence.
"Please...tell me we can stop them." She said softly.
Matthias shakes his head and blinks.
"Yes...yes. I'll...we'll stop them. Doctor? I...uh...I'm sorry." Matthias said.
"Me too. Now shall we get to work?" The Doctor said with a smile"
"Heh...yeah. Let's do this." Matthias laughed.
Anubia laid up against the wall with Tardis, in her lap.
"It's been awhile since I've seen such fury in Matthias." Tardis mumbled.
"Do time lords usually have such anger?" Anubia said.
The wolf sighed and a look of sadness came across her face.
"You would be the same if your entire species was dead, and you had a hand in their destruction." Tardis said.
"What happened?" Anubia said quietly.
"The time lords knew the war was a lost cause. They intended to begin the final sanction. It was a last minute weapon that was only to be used when the time lords had no other option. In their eyes, they didn't. The Doctor created a weapon of his own called The Moment. In one second, the war and all who participated in it were destroyed. I spoke with The Doctor's Tardis...their was no other way." The wolf said with a whimper.
"So much power. The time lords must have been so wonderful before he war." Anubia said.
"*Sigh*...they were." Tardis said, "All gone now."
"Hey Anubia!" Matthias called.
She walked over to the form laying under the console.
"I've got a present for you. Give me a sec." He said.
He got out from under the console and dug in his pocket. He pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to the jackal.
"What's this?" Anubia said, then opened the box. Their was a flash of light and the robes Anubia was once wearing were replaced by a blue tank top covered in Egyptian writing. A black Leather jacket with golden trim was hanging from the white belt around her waist. Her silver jeans fell loosely around her paws.
The Doctor whistled.
"Nice! Did you design that?" He said to Matthias.
"Yep. I designed it. I was bored one night, so I figured why not create something that helps you get dressed instantly?" Matthias said.
"This could be a real big help to those who are paralyzed! Have you thought of approaching the humans about it?" The Doctor said.
" I approached them once, but they were too afraid of it. Said it was demon possessed. Oh well." Matthias sighed.
A small beeping sounded and the viewscreen flashed to life. A DNA string appeared and a small description was included.
"Hmm...lets see." The Doctor thought aloud, "single strand Zed Neutrino infection. Delayed response activated by...by...by what?"
Matthias had one look at the screen and he nearly fell over. "That son of a bitch...according to the data, the Zed neutrino is activated via a violent shock, or emotion." Matti said.
"The explosion! The temple!" Tardis yelped.
"We have to go back now!" Anubia said loudly.
He shoved the switch forward and the Tardis shook into motion. The viewscreen's clocks numbers decreased until they were landed back in Egypt.
"Doctor, get under the console and press a pink switch. It'll drain some power, but the active camo will hold for awhile." Matthias directed.
"I'm sensing something...strange." Tardis said. Her ears lowered and she growled lowly.
"What is it little one?" Anubia said, petting her.
"I'm sensing life inside the destroyed temple...not Dalek...humanoid." Tardis said.
"It can't be the people...can it?" Anubia said.
Matthias grabbed his coat and whipped it on.
"Only one way to know. I'll be back." Matthias said.
"I'm going with you." The Doctor said and made for the door.
"Oh no you don't. You're staying here Doc." Matthias said.
"Do NOT call me 'Doc'. And why the hell shouldn't I go?" The Doctor asked.
"Two reasons. No wait...three. One and two, our Tardises. If something happens to me, my Tardis is gonna hide in yours. I'm entrusting her to you until I get back. Three, and most importantly, her."
Matthias looked at Anubia leaning up against the wall.
"Me?" Anubia asked.
"She's pregnant with your child. I'm not gonna let you put your life on the line when you got a kid on the way. If you don't like it, get over it. You have a responsibility to Anubia now." Matthias said then made for the door.
"OY! Fur ball!" The Doctor called after him.
"Yeah?" Matthias smiled.
"If you get into trouble, I am so gonna hurt you." The Doctor laughed.
"You'll have to catch me first hotshot, and we both know I'm great at running! Later!" Matthias said.
Matthias stepped out of the white police box to a bleak and grim site. The once luxurious palace was in ruins, the massive hall where the transformed people were being held in flames. a body laid staring lifelessly up into the clouds, killed by falling rubble. The rain fell as if the gods were crying for the deceased. Matthias said a silent prayer for the lost, and continued forward down the ruined corridors. Faint dalek voices could be heard across the entire area.
"Alright you buggers...where are you hiding?" Matthias said quietly. He pulled out his sonic screwdriver and set it to scan. The purple light flashed and began buzzing quietly. The light was bright enough to light his face, his eyes twinkling in the darkness.
**BACK IN THE TARDIS**
Anubia paced up and down the ramp scratching her ears every few seconds. The Doctor was adjusting settings on the viewscreen so he could keep an eye on Matthias. Tardis, was laying on the console watching the Doctor work.
"What are you doing Doctor?" The golden wolf asked.
"I'm re-adjusting your sensory to try and get a bead on where Matthias is, and where he's going." The doctor said, putting on his black rimmed glasses, "It will also give me an early warning if a dalek is going towards him."
"Wow! I didn't know I could do that..." The wolf woofed in amazement.
"Oh yes!" He smiled, "Just one more...adjustment and...GOT IT!"
Tardis yelped and the viewscreen showed a first person view of where Matthias was going. The corridor he was in was collapsed in a few places.
"Where is he?" Anubia said, finally calming herself.
"According to this, he's in the northern most corridor. Mostly rubble from the attack, no daleks near him." The doctor said.
"I'm sending a program to him." Tardis said.
"What for?" Anubia asked.
"So we can talk to him if need be." Tardis said, "I have to be able to talk to him if I can go with him."
"Well, here's hoping." The doctor said.
As he roamed the empty rubble filled corridors, Matthias was mumbling to himself.
"No sign of life, and yet I haven't found any bodies. So where are all of the transformed people?" He said. " As many people as we heard screaming, you'd think there would have been bodies."
*beep beep beep*
"Huh?" Matthias mumbled.
"..ma..ias...mat...ias!....Matthias? Can you hear me?" The voice from the screwdriver said.
"What the...Doctor? Is that you?" Matthias said with surprise.
"Yes. I installed a program that allows us to talk to you. If you look to your right, you should be at the entrance to the hall where the transformed people were being held." The doctor said.
The doors were completely obliterated. The walls had collapsed in onto them, so there was no foreseeable way into the ruined building.
"Slight problem guys." Matthias said then ran the screwdriver over the rubble. "The passage is completely collapsed. No way...wait. What's that?"
The silhouette of a red dalek slowly drifted around a corner. The blue light at the end of it's eyestalk was set dead on Matthias.
"Oh crap..." Matthias mumbled.
"EXTERMINATE!" EXTERMINATE!"
"Get out of there!" The doctor yelled.
Matthias ran back down the corridor, straight into another dalek.
"Oh come on!!!" Matthias yelled.
"EXTERMINATE!!" The dalek yelled.
He ran back, but the red dalek was blocking the way. They both drew closer blocking the way out. Matthias made for the window but tripped and fell backwards into the rubble. He expected to hit rubble but instead he fell through.
On the other side, were hundreds of pods, the transformed in every one. The facility was large and expansive, dalek in design.
"EXTERMINATE!" The daleks shouted behind him.
"OK! Hiding!" Matthias said. He dove into a barrel with dalek marks on it, then closed the lid over it.
He could hear the daleks rolling past, shouting orders to one another. They passed, their soulless voices fading.
"Damn daleks...Doctor, can you hear me?" Matthias said, pulling his screwdriver out.
"Yeah! You alright? Where are you?" The doctor asked.
"The people are still alive. There's a perception filter around the building where they are being held. They rebuilt it into some sort of stasis chamber. Form what I saw, the daleks are draining the Zed neutrino from them." Matthias said quietly.
"Oh gods be praised. My people live!" Anubia sobbed.
"You're forgetting something important. Why are they still here?" Doctor mumbled. "Daleks don't leave people alive."
"I'm not sure, but I'll see if I can wake them." Matthias said quietly.
He popped out of the barrel, only to be hit by a floe of shocking energy. The last thing he heard was a raspy, coughing laugh.
**BACK IN THE TARDIS**
"Oh gods be praised. My people live!" Anubia sobbed.
The doctor looked at the readings on the viewscreen.
"You're forgetting something important. Why are they still here? Daleks don't leave people alive." The doctor mumbled.
"I don't know, but I'll see if I can wake them" Matthias replied back.
"Matti! WAIT!" Tardis growled.
What was heard next was a shot of electricity. Matthias shout of pain was heard next. Then the raspy low coughing voice of an old man.
'Oh no...NO!" The wolf yelped.
Tardis made for the door but Anubia stood in her way.
"Get OUT of my way! I have to help him." The wolf growled.
"First things first. Let's get you locked onto the building. And...off...we...go!" The doctor shouted.
The dust whirled about the now empty space where the Tardis once stood.
"So! Any ideas?" Anubia shouted over the shaking and the sparks flying from the console.
"WHOA! Well, I'm sort of winging it at this point." The doctor shouted after falling over.
Tardis yelped as a shot of sparks shot from the console.
"Shouldn't we already be there!?" Tardis shouted.
"OUCH! There's some sort of temporal shield around the building! Its gonna drain a lot of your power-" The doctor shouted
"JUST DO IT!" The wolf barked.
"Oh alright fine!" The doctor barked back. He floored the helmic regulator to maximum and the Tardis shook even more. Finally with a loud bang, the Tardis landed at its destination, and the lights dimmed as the power loss kicked in.
"Ohhh...I don't feel so good." Tardis whined.
"Easy girl. I've got you." Anubia said, picking up the pup.
"Told you it would drain the power. Why do I have a face that no one listens to?" The Doctor muttered.
Anubia slapped him across the face.
"HEY! What on earth was that for?!" The Doctor shouted in shock.
"We don't have time for this! THINK of something! We have to save Matthias!" Anubia growled.
The Doctor composed himself and nodded. He used a little more power to open the viewscreen. There, in the middle of the floor, suspended in the air with blood dripping from his wound, was Matthias. In front of Matthias, torturing him, was Sorvad, the mastermind behind the transformations.
"AAAGGGHHHHHH!" Matthias cried in agony.
Sorvad cackled with every bit of blood taken from the furred Time lord. He let up on the torture for a moment then continued it again. Matthias' yelps and howls echoed throughout the chamber.
"So wonderful to see you again. You've regenerated, Talon of Rassilon! I must say this regeneration is much more...flamboyant than your previous one." Sorvad said with a raspy voice.
"Set me...free...and ill show you how...Happy...I am to see you!!!" Matthias growled with a bloody smile.
Sorvad pressed another switch and Matthias' body shook as electricity passed through him. Sorvad laughed maniacally at the time lord's pain.
"I had forgotten how full of rebellion you are. Oh so many names the time lords gave you! 'The Silver Devil.' The Savior of the Southern Continents. This one was my favorite. 'The Last Outlaw'. Now look at you. Nothing but what I always knew you were. A sniveling animal." Sorvad said, then stopped the electric current.
"GAAAH! *pant pant* You...you stole the most important thing in existence from me...my...my wife and daughter...I swore that day I would find you, and make you suffer the way I have." Matthias said after coughing up blood.
Sorvad pulled forward and placed a hand on Matthias' chin, then patted his cheek. Sorvad then turned from him then started away from him.
"DON'T YOU DARE TURN YOUR BACK ON ME, YOU PIECE OF GARBAGE!" Matthias roared.
"I suppose you want revenge then. Or maybe answers? Go ahead. I'll indulge in your games for a little while longer." Sorvad said with a smile.
"I know why you killed my wife and daughter. To get back at me for stopping you in the southern continents." Matthias coughed.
"Revenge is a dish best served cold after all. And your family's death was the oh so sweetest way to exact my revenge. I heard your blood curdling cries from Skaro! HA!" Sorvad said while unleashing Matthias, his bloody and damaged form falling to the floor. "If you think you can kill me, then go ahead and take your revenge."
Matthias scrambled to his feet slowly. The next words to leave his lips were...."no."
"What? Are you afraid to kill? KILL ME YOU INSOLENT DOG!" Sorvad yelled, "I know you want to kill me. It's in your eyes boy! Do it!"
"Excuse me, but are we late for the party?" A voice said from the dark.
"Who dares interrupt me?" Sorvad growled.
The Doctor stepped from the shadows, Anubia right behind him, armed with a Cyberman's gun, and Tardis by her side.
"That would be us! Hello! I'm The Doctor!" The Doctor said cheerfully with a smile.
"And I'm Anubia. Princess of the Egyptian people. Tell your boys to back off or they get blown to bits, OK?" Anubia said, also with a smile.
"Doctor....the Threefold Man...we meet at last." Sorvad said.
"Blimey I love what you've done with the place! Nice set up! The perception filter was a nice touch too. Now! On to business. What are you planning?" The Doctor said. "This is indeed a pleasure! The last two time lords in existence! Oh my father is indeed going to be happy when I tell him of how I murdered the final two wretched time lords!" Sorvad laughed.
"Your 'DADDY' won't be doing much of anything for a long time. You see, uh....he's dead" the Doctor said, putting on his brainy specs.
Matthias laughed and Anubia smiled. Sorvad's expression turned to one of immense anger as he flipped a switch and the Electrical current ran through Matthias again.
"MATTI!" Tardis yelped then ran for him.
The Doctor used the sonic screwdriver to cycle the current back into Sorvad, making him cry out in pain.
"YOU LIAR! My father is still locked within the Time War!!! When I'm done here I shall free him and we shall rule the cosmos!!" Sorvad bellowed.
"Wrong daddy's boy! He escaped and attempted to destroy the earth sometime in the future. My friends and I managed to stop him. He and all of the other daleks are destroyed. And if I must, I will stop you too! But there is another alternative Sorvad." The doctor said.
"Which is..." Sorvad said.
"Leave. Leave this system and never return. I can find you a new world. Just let the people go and change them back to human. That's all. What's your answer?" The Doctor said, staring down Sorvad, Matthias and Tardis now at his side.
A loud beeping noise sounded and a klaxon alarm started running. The transformed started to glow, the Zed Neutrino energy flowing around them.
"NO! No, Sorvad what are you doing!?" Anubia cried.
"I'm afraid I must decline to your offer! If I must die, I will finish what I started! Say goodbye to your precious people princess!" Sorvad cackled.
"NO!! NOT AGAIN!!" Anubia cried then tried to stop the controls.
The Doctor started flipping switches and pulling levers and rewiring a few things. He pressed a few more buttons, but nothing would happen.
"GAH! Come on!!! Oh why are they ALWAYS deadlock sealed!!! Just once I'd like to break into something and it not be deadlocked!!!! I need something to conduct the current and open the controls!!" The doctor said in a hurry.
"Why?!" Tardis said.
"If I can reverse the polarity and send it back through I can change everyone back to human and send a feedback loop into the daleks controls, making them harmless!!! But I don't have anything that I can use.....there's nothing I can do." The doctor said, banging on the console.
"...Get out of the way."
Anubia and the Doctor turn to see Matthias running at the console, a silver sword in hand. They dodged what would have been a blow from his sword, and Matthias stabbed it straight into the console, sparks and lightning flying from Matthias' body.
"DOCTOR! DO IT NOW! I CAN'T HOLD THE CURRENT FOR MUCH LONGER!!!" Matthias yelled over the various explosions.
Without hesitating, the doctor activated the controlled feedback. The daleks spun out of control, bumping into each other. Matthias grunted and howled in pain, blood pouring from the wounds Sorvad inflicted. Blue energy flowed from his body, and shot across the palace and through each of the transformed, their bodies reverting to human.
"Anubia! Get those people out of here! Blast any Dalek that tries to stop you!!!!" The Doctor shouted to her.
"I'll see you soon!" She shouted, then kissed him on the lips. She ran with Tardis along the now waking humans and ushered them out of the doors and off to safety.
Sorvad jiggled and shook as the feedback loop kept him from controlling his motions. He toppled over and fell to the floor. Matthias was finally shot back from the console and hit a stone pillar. The Doctor rushed over and helped him up.
"I'm getting to old for this." Matthias grumbled.
"You and me both!" The doctor laughed.
"You'll never stop me! I'll find another way!!! I'LL KILL YOU ALL!" Sorvad cried.
He fired a blast of fatal energy at the Doctor, but Matthias took the blow, stepping the way of the shot. The echoing sound from the shot caused a broken piece of ceiling to fall, right on top of Sorvad.
Matthias gasped for air, and fell into the Doctor's arms.
"Matt?! MATT! Hold on you hear me? You'll regenerate just hang on!" The Doctor said.
"Afraid not doc....*Gasp* AHH! AH! Whatever that energy was...something's keeping me from regenerating...my heart's won't restart...my body is shutting down." Matthias gasped.
"No you've got to...I will NOT be the last one... not again...Regenerate! COME ON!" The doctor shouted with tears in his eyes.
"Not...this time...old friend...I guess I'll have to explore the afterlife...without you...oh, and I...never said..." Matthias said.
"What?" The Doctor Sobbed.
"Thank........you...." Matthias said with his last breath. Anubia rushed into the room with Tardis on her heels. She was human again, her features that of an Egyptian woman. She ran to The Doctor, finally seeing Matthias' lifeless body in his arms. Tardis' ears fell back, and she let out a long, mournful howl. At the same time, The Doctor screamed out, angry and hurt at the fact the he was now The Last Of The Time Lords once more. His heart and mind remembered all of those who died for him, and all he could do was cry.
A few moments passed and the Doctor just sat silently, not saying a word. Tardis lay in his lap, whimpering and whining as he petted her.
"What's going to happen to me now?" Tardis said.
"Well...I guess I'm taking care of you from now on..." the Doctor said quietly.
A brilliant light shined through the hole in the roof. It fell closer and closer to where The Doctor and his companions were. Just before it hit the floor, the light dissipated to reveal a black Anubian jackal, dressed in white regal attire. On his side he wore a blue sword. His eyes were amber, and his facial expression was a kind and loving one.
"Which of you is the one known as 'Matthias'?" The soft voiced jackal said.
Doctor, Anubia, and Tardis all looked down at Matthias.
"Oh dear...the poor thing. He died. Well we can't have that can we?" The jackal smiled.
He then knelt down to Matthias' head, tilted it forward, and removed a blue pouch from his belt. The Jackal opened it up and poured the silver liquid inside into Matthias' mouth. With a sudden shake and sputter, Matthias' eyes shot open and life returned to his body.
"*GASP!* *cough Cough* What the hell!!!" Matthias Shouted.
The jackal laughed softly and helped him to his feet.
"There now young one. You are alive once again! How do you feel?" The jackal asked.
"*cough* whatever the hell you gave me burned my throat!!!!" Matthias said. "Who are you anyway?"
"I am Anubis. God of embalming, and guardian of the afterlife." Anubis said.
Anubia fell to her knees. Tardis bowed as much as she could. The Doctor just stared at the god in disbelief.
"How...how can you be real?" The Doctor said, bowing as well.
"There are things, my dear Doctor, "Anubis said placing a hand on his cheek, "That even you have yet to discover. For saving my people, and safeguarding my lands from an unholy threat I am here to grant each of you four, a gift. Choose wisely, for you will only get one choice."
"I only want to know one thing, my lord." Anubia said.
"Name it, my child." Anubis said.
"My baby," she said placing a hand on her stomach, "Will my baby have a good life?"
"Yes she will. She will grow up strong and beautiful. A great defender of the people." Anubis said with a smile.
"She?....oh my gods...Doctor, I'm having a daughter!" Anubia said with glee.
"And what of you Wolf pup?" Anubis said picking up the little wolf.
"Um...I wanna be real. Not just a hologram. I wanna feel, touch and run just like Matthias." Tardis said.
"Very well, little one. It is done." Anubis said with yet another smile.
"YAHOO!" Tardis howled. She then licked Anubis muzzle.
"Hey!" Anubis said laughing, "Now you Matthias. What do you wish?" Anubis said.
Matthias fell to his knees in front of the god and his eyes welled up with tears.
"Tell me...my wife...and daughter...are they okay? Are they happy?" He said.
Anubis knelt down with him and took Matthias' hands in his own.
"Your family is well. They asked me to relay this message to you. 'We love you and we always will. We are happy here, and we wait for the day when we see you again. Fight for what's right and never lose yourself to evil.'" Anubis said softly.
Matthias broke down into complete tears at hearing his family's message. Anubis helped him to his feet and Matthias thanked him silently.
"Now, my Dear Doctor, on to you. Whatever you wish." Anubis said.
The doctor knew he only wanted one thing: not to die. He looked to the left and in the shadows, he found Ood Sigma staring back at him. His haunting words echoed in the Doctors head.
YOUR SONG MUST END SOON........
In a cloud of dust filled wind, Ood Sigma disappeared. The Doctor would find his own way of avoiding death. He had to. He made up his mind after a few moments.
"My friend...Rose Tyler...Will I Ever see her again?" The Doctor Asked.
Anubis was silent for a moment and closed his eyes.
"Yes. You will see her one last time." Anubis said.
"I'm sorry. I must go, for I have given you my gift. Farewell, warriors of time. And remember, I will ALWAYS be watching!!!!!" Anubis said, then disappeared in a flash of light.
***SOME HOURS LATER***
The Doctor was cleaning out the cables that he had connected to the console while rubbing it in various places. He smiled every once in a while. Anubia walked into the doors of his Tardis and closed them behind her. She walked up to him and pulled him into a loving kiss.
"Mmm...my Doctor..."Anubia said.
"Uhhh....yeah...so I was...um...thinking that you could come with me, and we could travel the stars together." The Doctor said.
Anubia's face fell solemn and she turned away.
"I wish I could...but it's not possible. My father was killed evacuating survivors when the Daleks first attacked. We found his body an hour ago. He saved a lot of people." Anubia sobbed.
"Oh god...I'm Sorry dear...I'm so sorry." The Doctor said embracing her.
"Also, his death means they need a leader. And as his daughter, I must take up the throne, for his memory, and for my people." Anubia said, pulling away.
"I understand." The Doctor said. "I have to go soon. But I'll look in on you from time to time. I promise."
"I know. You always keep your promises" She said with a laugh.
"OY! I do keep my promises." The Doc laughed.
"I know, I know." She said. "I want one last thing from you before you go...One Last Kiss."
The Doctor Smiled and pulled her into indeed what would be their last kiss. She walked for the door, but before she left she looked back and smiled. Then, she was gone.
Matthias Walked out from behind a pillar and leaned against the console, next to where the Doctor was leaning.
"Your not gonna see her again. Are you?" Matthias said, staring at the door.
"She will be safer if I don't come back, and my daughter will be better off not knowing what she is." The Doctor said, then turned and fiddled with the destination coordinates.
"All right then. So what's next for you Doctor?" Matthias said with a smile. "Well, there's a constellation, or planet....well one of the two that has yet to be named. Think I'll name it Allison!" He said winking.
"Before I go..." Matthias said extending his hand, "One last goodbye. We had some laughs, eh?"
The Doctor took his hand and shook it. Then he pulled him into a hug.
"Oh Yes! Always the thrill seekers, us two!" The Doctor said.
Matthias pulled back and nodded. He walked to the doors, but stopped.
"Hey." He said.
"What?" The Doctor said.
